¹⁵ But not as the trespass, so also is the free gift. For if by the trespass of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God, and the gift by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound unto the many.

¹⁶ And not as through one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment came of one unto condemnation, but the free gift came of many trespasses unto justification.

¹⁷ For if, by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one; much more shall they that receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, even Jesus Christ.

¹⁸ So then as through one trespass the judgment came unto all men to condemnation; even so through one act of righteousness the free gift came unto all men to justification of life.

¹⁹ For as through the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the one shall the many be made righteous.

²⁰ And the law came in besides, that the trespass might abound; but where sin abounded, grace did abound more exceedingly:

¹⁵ But the results of God's erasing the record of our sins as a gift to us are not like the results of Adam's sinning. The result of one man, Adam, sinning was that many/all people have died. But it is certain, however, that many people have abundantly experienced God's acting kindly toward them in a way they did not deserve. It is also certain that they have experienced God's erasing the record of their sins as the result of one man, Jesus Christ, acting kindly toward them/towards them in a way they did not deserve.

¹⁶ And there is another way in which God's freely erasing the record of our sins is not like the results of Adam's sinning. One person, Adam, sinned. As a result, God declared that all people deserve to be punished. Many people sinned. But what God did was that he erased the record of their sins without their earning it.

¹⁷ All people die MET, PRS because of what one man, Adam, did. But now many of us experience that God has abundantly acted towards us in ways we did not deserve, and we experience that he has erased the record of our sins without our earning it. It is also very certain that we will rule with Christ (OR, share the glory of Christ's being king), in heaven. This will happen because of what one man, Jesus Christ, did for us.

¹⁸ So, because one man, Adam, disobeyed God's law, that resulted in all people deserving to be punished {that God punish them}. Similarly, because one man, Jesus, acted righteously by obeying God when he died, the result was that God is able to erase the record of all people's sins and enable them to live eternally.

¹⁹ It was because one person, Adam, disobeyed God that many/all people became sinners. Similarly, it is because one person, Jesus, obeyed God when he died that the record of many people's sins will be erased {that he will erase the record of many people's sins}.

²⁰ God gave PRS his laws to Moses PRS in order that people might realize how greatly they had sinned; but as people sinned more, God continued to act even more kindly toward them, in a way that they did not deserve.

²¹ He did that in order that just like people everywhere inevitably sin, which results in their dying MET, PRS, people everywhere might inevitably experience God's acting kindly towards them in a way they do not deserve MET, PRS by erasing the record of their sins. The result is that people can live eternally because of what Jesus Christ our Lord did for them.

¹⁵ But the free giving of God is not like the wrongdoing of man. For if, by the wrongdoing of one man death came to numbers of men, much more did the grace of God, and the free giving by the grace of one man, Jesus Christ, come to men.

¹⁶ And the free giving has not the same effect as the sin of one: for the effect of one man's sin was punishment by the decision of God, but the free giving had power to give righteousness to wrongdoers in great number.

¹⁷ For, if by the wrongdoing of one, death was ruling through the one, much more will those to whom has come the wealth of grace and the giving of righteousness, be ruling in life through the one, even Jesus Christ.

¹⁸ So then, as the effect of one act of wrongdoing was that punishment came on all men, even so the effect of one act of righteousness was righteousness of life for all men.

¹⁹ Because, as numbers of men became sinners through the wrongdoing of one man, even so will great numbers get righteousness through the keeping of the word of God by one man.

²⁰ And the law came in addition, to make wrongdoing worse; but where there was much sin, there was much more grace:

²¹ That, as sin had power in death, so grace might have power through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

¹⁵ But shall not the act of favour be as the offence? For if by the offence of one the many have died, much rather has the grace of God, and the free gift in grace, which is by the one man Jesus Christ, abounded unto the many.

¹⁶ And shall not as by one that has sinned be the gift? For the judgment was of one to condemnation, but the act of favour, of many offences unto justification.

¹⁷ For if by the offence of the one death reigned by the one, much rather shall those who receive the abundance of grace, and of the free gift of righteousness, reign in life by the one Jesus Christ:)

¹⁸ so then as it was by one offence towards all men to condemnation, so by one righteousness towards all men for justification of life.

¹⁹ For as indeed by the disobedience of the one man the many have been constituted sinners, so also by the obedience of the one the many will be constituted righteous.

²⁰ But law came in, in order that the offence might abound; but where sin abounded grace has overabounded,

²¹ in order that, even as sin has reigned in the power of death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

¹⁵ But not as the offence, so also the gift. For if by the offence of one, many died; much more the grace of God, and the gift, by the grace of one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.

¹⁶ And not as it was by one sin, so also is the gift. For judgment indeed was by one unto condemnation; but grace is of many offences, unto justification.

¹⁵ But the free gift is not like the transgression. For if by the transgression of the one man many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to the many.

¹⁶ And the gift is not as by one having sinned. For the judgment which came from one offense brought condemnation, but the free gift from many offenses brought justification.

¹⁷ For if by the transgression of one man death reigned through that one man, much more those receiving the abundance of the grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)

¹⁸ So then, as through one man's transgression judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man's righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life.

¹⁹ For through the disobedience of one man many were constituted sinners, so also through the obedience of one Man many shall be constituted righteous.

²⁰ But the law came in alongside, so that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace superabounded,

²¹ so that just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

¹⁵ Now the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one, how much more did God's grace and the bounty by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many!

¹⁶ Again, the gift is not like what came from one man's having sinned: because the judgment into condemnation followed one offense, while the gracious gift into justification followed many offenses.

¹⁷ Further, if by the offense of the one man death reigned through that man, much more will those who receive the abundance of the grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.

¹⁸ So then, as through one offense there is condemnation for everyone, so also through one righteous act there is life-giving justification for everyone.

¹⁹ For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were constituted sinners, so also through the obedience of the One the many will be constituted righteous.

²⁰ However, law came on the scene so that the offense might abound; but where the sin abounded, the grace superabounded,

²¹ so that just as sin reigned in the death, so also the grace might reign through righteousness into eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

¹⁵ But the gift of Jesus is not like the sin of Adam. Though many people died because of one man's sin, God's grace is so much greater and has been shared with so many through his gracious gift in the person of Jesus Christ.

¹⁶ The result of the gift is not like that of the sin. The result of Adam's sin was judgment and condemnation, but the gift sets us right with God, despite our many sins.

¹⁷ As a result of one man's sin, death ruled because of him. But God's grace is so much greater and his gift sets us right, for everyone who receives it will rule in life through the person of Jesus Christ!

¹⁸ Just as one sin brought condemnation on everyone, in the same way one right act gave everyone the opportunity to live right.

¹⁹ Just as through one man's disobedience many became sinners, in the same way through one man's obedience many are made right with God.

²⁰ When the law was introduced, sin became even more obvious. But while sin became much more obvious, grace became even more obvious!

²¹ Just as sin ruled us and brought us death, now grace rules by making us right with God, bringing us eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

¹⁵ But yet the gift is not so, as is the offence: for if through the offence of that one, many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man Iesus Christ, hath abounded vnto many.

¹⁶ Neither is the gift so, as that which entred in by one that sinned: for the fault came of one offence vnto condemnation: but the gift is of many offences to iustification.

¹⁷ For if by the offence of one, death reigned through one, much more shall they which receiue that abundance of grace, and of that gift of that righteousnesse, reigne in life through one, that is, Iesus Christ.

¹⁸ Likewise then as by the offence of one, the fault came on all men to condemnation, so by the iustifying of one, the benefite abounded toward all men to the iustification of life.

¹⁹ For as by one mans disobedience many were made sinners, so by that obedience of that one shall many also be made righteous.

²⁰ Moreouer the Law entred thereupon that the offence shoulde abound: neuerthelesse, where sinne abounded, there grace abounded much more:

¹⁶ There is a contrast, too, between the gift and the results of the one man's sin. The judgement, which followed on the one man's sin, resulted in condemnation, but God's gracious gift, which followed on many offences, resulted in a decree of righteousness.

¹⁷ For if, by reason of the offence of the one man, death reigned through that one man, far more will those, on whom God's loving kindness and his gift of righteousness are lavished, find life, and reign through the one man, Jesus Christ.

¹⁵ Jesus Christ came later, and he did something a lot different from the wrong thing Adam did. That one man, Adam, he went wrong, so many people have to die. But this other man, Jesus Christ, he is different. He makes many people alive. God gives us this life. He is very good to us even though we are not good enough for him. Jesus did much more for us than Adam did.

¹⁶ And we get something from Adam that is a lot different from the good thing that God gives us. Adam did just one bad thing, and from that now we all go wrong, so God has to punish us. But what God did is different. He is good to us and gives us life. It doesn’t cost us anything. So he will not punish us but he will call us his friends.

¹⁷ We know about that one man, Adam. He did something bad, so now lots of people die. But we also know about that other man, Jesus Christ. He did something good, so now lots of people will live properly, for ever. God is really good to them now, and he makes them good too. Jesus did a much better thing than Adam did.

¹⁸ After Adam went wrong everybody did bad things so God has to punish everybody. But then Jesus did something really good, and so now God will not punish us but will let us be his friends and live for ever.

¹⁹ That one man Adam did wrong. He did something God told him not to do, and from that now many people do wrong things. But that other man, Jesus, did something good. He did everything God told him to do, and from that he now makes many people good.

²⁰ The law came and showed people that they did wrong. But this didn’t stop them, they still did wrong. Yes, people keep on doing more bad things, but at time same time God keeps on being more good to people.

²¹ It is like this. We can’t stop ourselves doing bad things, so we all have to die. But our leader, Jesus Christ, did something really good for us, so now God is good to us too. And he also makes us good, so we will live for ever.

¹⁵ But the gyfte is not lyke as the synne. For yf thorow the synne of one many be deed: moche more plenteous vpon many was the grace of God and gyfte by grace: which grace was geven by one man Iesus Christ.

¹⁶ And the gifte is not over one synne as deeth cam thorow one synne of one that synned. For damnacion cam of one synne vnto condemnacion: but the gyft cam to iustify from many synnes.

¹⁷ For yf by the synne of one deeth raigned by the meanes of one moche more shall they which receave aboundance of grace and of the gyfte of rightewesnes raygne in lyfe by the meanes of one (that is to saye) Iesus Christ.

¹⁸ Lykewyse then as by the synne of one condemnacion cam on all men: even so by the iustifyinge of one cometh the rightewesnes that bringeth lyfe vpo all men.

¹⁹ For as by one mannes disobediece many be cam synners: so by the obediece of one shall many be made righteous.

²⁰ But the lawe in the meane tyme entred in that synne shuld encreace. Neverthelater where aboundaunce of synne was there was more plenteousnes of grace.

²¹ That as synne had raigned vnto deeth even so might grace raygne thorow rightewesnes vnto eternall lyfe by the helpe of Iesu Christ.

¹⁵ But the gift is not like the trespass. For if by the trespass of one the many died, how much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound for the many!

¹⁶ The gift is not as through one who sinned; for the judgment came by one to condemnation, but the free gift followed many trespasses to justification.

¹⁷ For if by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one; so much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, Yeshua the Messiah.

¹⁸ So then as through one trespass, all men were condemned; even so through one act of righteousness, all men were justified to life.

¹⁹ For as through the one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the one, many will be made righteous.

²⁰ The law came in that the trespass might abound; but where sin abounded, grace abounded more exceedingly,

²¹ that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Yeshua the Messiah our Lord.

¹⁵ But the free gift isn’t like the trespass. For if by the trespass of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one man, Yeshua the Messiah, abound to the many.

¹⁹ For as by unobedience of one man many be made sinners, so by the obedience of one many shall be ordained just.

²⁰ And the law entered, that guilt should be plenteous; but where guilt was plenteous, grace was more plenteous or abounded.

²¹ That as sin reigned into death, so grace reign by rightwiseness into ever-lasting life, by Jesus Christ our Lord.

¹⁵ But not as the guilt or as the trespass, so the gift; for if through the guilt or through the trespass of one many be dead, much more the grace of God and the gift in the grace of one man Jesus Christ hath abounded into many men.

¹⁶ And not as by one sin, so by the gift; for the doom, (or the judgement, or the sentence), of one into condemnation, but the (gift of) grace of (or over) many guilts or many trespassings into justification.

¹⁶ and not as through one who did sin is the free gift, for the judgment indeed is of one to condemnation, but the gift is of many offences to a declaration of 'Righteous,'

¹⁷ for if by the offence of the one the death did reign through the one, much more those, who the abundance of the grace and of the free gift of the righteousness are receiving, in life shall reign through the one — Jesus Christ.

¹⁸ So, then, as through one offence to all men it is to condemnation, so also through one declaration of 'Righteous' it is to all men to justification of life;

¹⁹ for as through the disobedience of the one man, the many were constituted sinners: so also through the obedience of the one, shall the many be constituted righteous.

²⁰ And law came in, that the offence might abound, and where the sin did abound, the grace did overabound,

²¹ that even as the sin did reign in the death, so also the grace may reign, through righteousness, to life age-during, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
