Romans 4:20-23 in English

²⁰ yet, looking unto the promise of God, he wavered not through unbelief, but waxed strong through faith, giving glory to God,

²¹ and being fully assured that what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

²² Wherefore also it was reckoned unto him for righteousness.

²³ Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was reckoned unto him;

²⁰ He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;

²¹ And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

²² And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.

²³ Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;

²⁰ yea, looking unto the promise of God, he wavered not through unbelief, but waxed strong through faith, giving glory to God,

²¹ and being fully assured that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

²² Wherefore also it was reckoned unto him for righteousness.

²³ Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was reckoned unto him;

²⁰ he did not doubt at all that God would do what he had promised. Instead, he trusted in God more/very strongly, and he thanked God for what God was going to do.

²¹ He was also convinced {very sure} that the thing that God promised, God was able to do.

²² And that is the reason that the record of his sins was erased { God erased the record of his sins}.

²³ The words in the Scriptures, “The record of his sins was erased { God erased the record of his sins},” are not only about Abraham.

²⁰ Yet, looking to the promise of God, he didn’t waver through unbelief, but grew strong through faith, giving glory to God,

²¹ and being fully assured that what he had promised, he was also able to perform.

²² Therefore it also was “credited to him for righteousness.”

²³ Now it was not written that it was accounted to him for his sake alone,

²⁰ Yet, looking to the promise of God, he didn’t waver through unbelief, but grew strong through faith, giving glory to God,

²¹ and being fully assured that what he had promised, he was also able to perform.

²² Therefore it also was “credited to him for righteousness.”

²³ Now it was not written that it was accounted to him for his sake alone,

²⁰ Yet, looking to the promise of God, he didn’t waver through unbelief, but grew strong through faith, giving glory to God,

²¹ and being fully assured that what he had promised, he was also able to perform.

²³ Now it was not written that it was accounted to him for his sake alone,

²⁰ Still, he did not give up faith in the undertaking of God, but was made strong by faith, giving glory to God,

²¹ And being certain that God was able to keep his word.

²² For which reason it was put to his account as righteousness.

²³ Now, it was not because of him only that this was said,

²⁰ and hesitated not at the promise of God through unbelief; but found strength in faith, giving glory to God;

²¹ and being fully persuaded that what he has promised he is able also to do;

²² wherefore also it was reckoned to him as righteousness.

²³ Now it was not written on his account alone that it was reckoned to him,

²⁰ In the promise also of God he staggered not by distrust; but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God:

²¹ Most fully knowing, that whatsoever he has promised, he is able also to perform.

²² And therefore it was reputed to him unto justice.

²³ Now it is not written only for him, that it was reputed to him unto justice,

²⁰ he did not waver at the promise of God in unbelief, but was empowered by faith, giving glory to God,

²¹ and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to do.

²² And therefore “it was credited to him as righteousness.”

²³ Now it was not written for his sake alone that it was credited to him,

²⁰ He did not waver at God's promise in unbelief; rather, he was strengthened by the faith, giving glory to God,

²¹ being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform

²² —that is why it was credited to him as righteousness.

²³ Now it was not only for his sake that it was written that it was credited to him,

²⁰ He held on to God's promise—he didn't doubt it. Instead his trust in God grew stronger, and he gave glory to God.

²¹ He was totally convinced that what God had promised he had the power to deliver.

²² That's why Abraham was considered right by God.

²³ The words “Abraham was considered right” weren't just written down for his benefit.

²⁰ Neither did he doubt of the promise of God through vnbeliefe, but was strengthened in the faith, and gaue glorie to God,

²¹ Being fully assured that he which had promised, was also able to doe it.

²² And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousnesse.

²³ Nowe it is not written for him onely, that it was imputed to him for righteousnesse,

²⁰ he staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;

²¹ and being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

²² And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.

²³ Now these words — ‘it was regarded as righteousness’ — were not written with reference to Abraham only;

²⁰ He was not led by want of faith to doubt God's promise.

²¹ On the contrary, his faith gave him strength; and he praised God, in the firm conviction that what God has promised he is also able to carry out.

²² And therefore his faith ‘was regarded as righteousness.’

²³ Now these words — ‘it was regarded as righteousness’ — were not written with reference to Abraham only;

²⁰ He didn’t start thinking, “Maybe God will not keep his promise after all.” No, he kept on believing, and this made him strong, so that he could tell everyone that God is good.

²¹ He just thought, “I know that God will do whatever he promised.”

²² So God said, “Abraham is a really good man.”

²³ They wrote that in God’s book. They didn’t write it just for Abraham,

²⁰ He stackered not at the promes of God thorow vnbelefe: but was made stronge in the fayth and gave honour to God

²¹ full certifyed that what he had promised that he was able to make good.

²² And therfore was it reckened to him for rightewesnes.

²³ It is not written for him only that it was reckened to him for rightewesnes:

²⁰ But because of God's promise, Abraham did not hesitate in unbelief. Instead, he was strengthened in faith and gave praise to God.

²¹ He was fully convinced that what God had promised, he was also able to accomplish.

²² Therefore this was also counted to him as righteousness.

²³ Now it was not written only for his benefit, that it was counted for him.

²⁰ Yet, looking to the promise of God, he didn’t waver through unbelief, but grew strong through faith, giving glory to God,

²¹ and being fully assured that what he had promised, he was also able to perform.

²² Therefore it also was “credited to him for righteousness.”

²¹ witting most fully (or fully knowing) that whatever things (that) God hath promised, he is mighty also to do (them).
