Romans 2:2-10 in American Standard Version (1901)

2 And we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against them that practise such things.
3 And reckonest thou this, O man, who judgest them that practise such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
5 but after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up for thyself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
6 who will render to every man according to his works:
7 to them that by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and incorruption, eternal life:
8 but unto them that are factious, and obey not the truth, but obey unrighteousness, shall be wrath and indignation,
9 tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that worketh evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Greek;
10 but glory and honor and peace to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek:

Romans 2:2-10 in Translation for Translators

2 We know very well that God will judge and punish fairly non-Jewish people who do such evil things.
3 So, you who say God should punish others for doing evil things yet you do evil things yourself, ◄you should certainly not think that you yourself will be able to escape from being punished by God!/do you think that you yourself will be able to escape from being punished by God?► RHQ
4 And you should not say, “God is acting very tolerantly and patiently toward me, so I do not need to stop sinning DOU.” ◄You should realize that God is acting in a kind manner toward you in order to encourage you (sg) to turn away from your sinful behavior!/Do you not realize that God is acting in a kind manner toward you in order to encourage you (sg) to turn away from your sinful behavior?► RHQ
5 But instead, by your stubbornly refusing to turn away from your sinful behavior DOU, you are causing MET God to punish you even more severely. He will do that at the time when he shows that he is angry and judges people fairly.
6 God will pay back everyone according to what they deserve for what they have done.
7 Specifically, some people, by continuing to doing good things, strive to be highly honored by God DOU and to receive a life that will not end. God will reward them by enabling them to live forever.
8 But some people act in a selfish way and refuse to believe that what God says is true, and they do the things that God says are wrong. God will punish them very severely DOU, MTY.
9 He will cause everyone who habitually does evil deeds to suffer greatly, with the result that they will become severely distressed DOU. This certainly will happen to the Jews who refuse to accept God's message, because God gave them the privilege to be his special people, but it will also happen to the non-Jews.
10 But God will greatly reward spiritually MET, DOU every person who habitually does good deeds. He will certainly do this for the Jews because God chose them as his special people, but he will also do it for the non-Jews.

Romans 2:2-10 in Bible in Basic English

2 And we are conscious that God is a true judge against those who do such things.
3 But you who are judging another for doing what you do yourself, are you hoping that God's decision will not take effect against you?
4 Or is it nothing to you that God had pity on you, waiting and putting up with you for so long, not seeing that in his pity God's desire is to give you a change of heart?
5 But by your hard and unchanged heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of the revelation of God's judging in righteousness;
6 Who will give to every man his right reward:
7 To those who go on with good works in the hope of glory and honour and salvation from death, he will give eternal life:
8 But to those who, from a love of competition, are not guided by what is true, will come the heat of his wrath,
9 Trouble and sorrow on all whose works are evil, to the Jew first and then to the Greek;
10 But glory and honour and peace to all whose works are good, to the Jew first and then to the Greek:

2 But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth upon those who do such things.
3 And thinkest thou this, O man, who judgest those that do such things, and practisest them thyself, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
4 or despisest thou the riches of his goodness, and forbearance, and long-suffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads thee to repentance?
5 but, according to thy hardness and impenitent heart, treasurest up to thyself wrath, in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,
6 who shall render to each according to his works:
7 to them who, in patient continuance of good works, seek for glory and honour and incorruptibility, life eternal.
8 But to those that are contentious, and are disobedient to the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there shall be wrath and indignation,
9 tribulation and distress, on every soul of man that works evil, both of Jew first, and of Greek;
10 but glory and honour and peace to every one that works good, both to Jew first and to Greek:

Romans 2:2-10 in Douay-Rheims 1899

2 For we know that the judgment of God is, according to truth, against them that do such things.
3 And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them who do such things, and dost the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness, and patience, and longsuffering? Knowest thou not, that the benignity of God leadeth thee to penance?
5 But according to thy hardness and impenitent heart, thou treasurest up to thyself wrath, against the day of wrath, and revelation of the just judgment of God.
6 Who will render to every man according to his works.
7 To them indeed, who according to patience in good work, seek glory and honour and incorruption, eternal life:
8 But to them that are contentious, and who obey not the truth, but give credit to iniquity, wrath and indignation.
9 Tribulation and anguish upon every soul of man that worketh evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Greek.

2 But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth upon those practicing such things.

4 Or do you despise the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?
5 But according to your hardness and impenitent heart you are storing up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation, and of the righteous judgment of God,
6 who “will recompense to each one according to his works”:
7 to those who by the endurance of good works are seeking glory and honor and incorruption—eternal life.
8 But to those who are contentious, and who disobey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath,

Romans 2:2-10 in The New Testament with Commentary

2 Further, we know that God's judgment against those who practice such things is according to truth.
3 So then, you there, you who judge those who practice such things while doing the same, do you really imagine that you will escape God's judgment?
4 Or do you scorn the riches of His kindness, tolerance and longsuffering, not recognizing that the goodness of God is leading you toward repentance?
5 Rather, due to your hardness and unrepentant heart, you are treasuring up wrath for yourself in the day of God's wrath and revelation and righteous judgment,
6 who will repay each one according to his works:
7 to those who seek for glory, honor and incorruption, by persevering in doing good—eternal life;
8 but to those who, due to self-seeking, are actually disobeying the truth (while obeying the unrighteousness)—fury and wrath,
9 tribulation and anguish, upon every human soul who works at the evil, whether Jew (first) or Greek;
10 but glory, honor and peace to everyone who works the good, whether Jew (first) or Greek.
Romans 2 in The New Testament with Commentary

Romans 2:2-10 in Free Bible Version

2 We know that God's judgment on those who do such things is based on truth.
3 When you judge them do you really think that you however can avoid God's judgment?
4 Or is it that you're treating his wonderful kindness, tolerance, and patience with contempt, not realizing that God in his kindness is trying to lead you to repent?
5 Due to your hard-hearted attitude and your refusal to repent, you're making things far worse for yourself on the day of retribution when God's judgment is demonstrated to be absolutely right.
6 God will make sure everyone receives what they deserve according to what they've done.
7 Those who have kept on trying to do what is good and right will receive glory and honor, immortality and eternal life.
8 But those who think only of themselves, rejecting the truth and deliberately choosing to do evil, will receive punishment and furious hostility.
9 Everyone who does evil will have trouble and suffering—the Jewish people first, and the foreigners too.
10 But everyone who does good will have glory, honor, and peace—the Jewish people first, and the foreigners too.

5 Hard-hearted and impenitent as you are, you are storing up for yourself wrath on the day of wrath, when God's justice as a judge will be revealed;

7 To those who, by perseverance in doing good, aim at glory, honour, and all that is imperishable, he will give immortal life;

Romans 2:2-10 in Plain English Version

2 And, you know, God will judge people that do bad things, and he knows the true story, so he will judge them the right way.
3 So do you really think God will not punish you, if you do the same bad things as the people you blame? Of course he will punish you.
4 Think about this. God is very good to you, he doesn’t easily get angry with you, but he waits for you. You know God is good like that, don’t you? He is good to you. He tries to get you to come back to him, and stop doing bad things. So don’t turn your back on him.
5 If you think you will never turn around and come back to God, you just make things worse for yourself. One day you will see him get really angry with you. On that day he will judge everybody properly and fairly.
6 God will give each of us the right pay for whatever we have done.
7 Some people keep on doing good things, and later God will be good to them. They are the people that want to please God. They listen to him and they do good things so that he will be happy with them. Later he will give them life that never ends.
8 But he will get really angry with selfish other people that don’t want to know the true story but just want to do bad things.
9 And God will not treat one kind of people any better than all the others. It will be the same for Jewish people as it will be for those people that are not Jewish. God will punish everyone that does bad things, whether they are Jewish people or not. They will all get very big trouble anyway. But God will do good to those that do good things, whether they are Jewish people or not. God will make them great anyway. They will feel really good and everybody will respect them.

5 But after thine hardness and unrepentant heart, thou treasurest to thee wrath into the day of wrath, and of showing of the rightful doom of God,
6 that shall yield to each man after his works;
7 soothly to them that be by patience of good work, glory, and honour, and uncorruption, to them that seek everlasting life;
8 but to them that be of strife, and that assent not to truth, but believe to wickedness, wrath and indignation,
9 tribulation and anguish, into each soul of man that worketh evil, to the Jew first, and to the Greek;
10 but glory, and honour, and peace, to each man that worketh good thing, to the Jew first, and to the Greek.

Romans 2:2-10 in Wycliffe's Bible with Modern Spelling (Enhanced)

2 And we know, that the doom of God is after (the) truth against them, that do such things. (And we know, that the judgement of God is according to the truth against those, who do such things.)
3 But guessest thou, man, that deemest them that do such things, and thou doest those things, that thou shalt escape the doom of God? (or that thou shalt escape God’s judgement?)
4 Whether thou despisest the riches of his goodness, and the patience, and the long abiding? Knowest thou not, that the benignity, or (the) good will, of God leadeth thee to forthinking, (or to repenting), or to penance?
5 But after thine hardness and unrepentant heart, thou treasurest to thee wrath into the day of wrath, and of (the) showing of the rightful doom of God (or and of the showing of God’s righteous judgement),
6 that shall yield to each man after his works;
7 soothly to them that be by patience of good work, glory, and honour, and uncorruption, to them that seek everlasting life; (truly to those who patiently do good works, and seek glory, and honour, and incorruption, he shall give eternal life;)
8 but to them that be of strife (or but to those who argue and fight), and that assent not to (the) truth, but believe to wickedness, wrath and indignation,
9 tribulation and anguish, into each soul of man that worketh evil, to the Jew first, and to the Greek; (he shall give troubles and anguish, yea, unto each person who worketh evil, to the Jew first, and to the Greek;)
10 but glory, and honour, and peace, to each man that worketh good thing(s), (or to each person who doeth good things), to the Jew first, and to the Greek.

Romans 2:2-10 in Young's Literal Translation

2 and we have known that the judgment of God is according to truth, upon those practising such things.
3 And dost thou think this, O man, who art judging those who such things are practising, and art doing them, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
4 or the riches of His goodness, and forbearance, and long-suffering, dost thou despise? — not knowing that the goodness of God doth lead thee to reformation!
5 but, according to thy hardness and impenitent heart, thou dost treasure up to thyself wrath, in a day of wrath and of the revelation of the righteous judgment of God,
6 who shall render to each according to his works;
7 to those, indeed, who in continuance of a good work, do seek glory, and honour, and incorruptibility — life age-during;
8 and to those contentious, and disobedient, indeed, to the truth, and obeying the unrighteousness — indignation and wrath,
9 tribulation and distress, upon every soul of man that is working the evil, both of Jew first, and of Greek;
10 and glory, and honour, and peace, to every one who is working the good, both to Jew first, and to Greek.
