Romans 10:9-19 in English

⁹ because if thou shalt confess with thy mouth Jesus as Lord, and shalt believe in thy heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved:

¹⁰ for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

¹¹ For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be put to shame.

¹² For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek: for the same Lord is Lord of all, and is rich unto all that call upon him:

¹³ for, Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

¹⁴ How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

¹⁵ and how shall they preach, except they be sent? even as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that bring glad tidings of good things!

¹⁶ But they did not all hearken to the glad tidings. For Isaiah saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

¹⁷ So belief cometh of hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

¹⁸ But I say, Did they not hear? Yea, verily, Their sound went out into all the earth, And their words unto the ends of the world.

¹⁹ But I say, Did Israel not know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy with that which is no nation, With a nation void of understanding will I anger you.

⁹ That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

¹⁰ For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

¹¹ For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

¹² For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

¹³ For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

¹⁴ How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

¹⁵ And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

¹⁶ But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

¹⁷ So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

¹⁸ But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.

¹⁹ But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you.

⁹ because if thou shalt confess with thy mouth Jesus as Lord, and shalt believe in thy heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved:

⁹ This message is that if anyone of you confesses/says publicly that Jesus is Lord, and if you (sg) believe that God ◄caused him to become alive again after he died/raised him from the dead►, you will be saved { God will save you}.

¹⁰ If people believe that Christ died and that God caused him to become alive again CHI, the result is that God will erase the record of their sins. And for those who state/declare publicly that Jesus is their Lord, the result is that God will save them.

¹¹ It is written { Isaiah wrote} in the Scriptures PRS about the Messiah, “Whoever believes in him will not be disappointed.”

¹² God treats Jews and non-Jews similarly. Because he is the same Lord for all people who believe in him, he abundantly blesses all who ask him to save them.

¹³ This is just like what the prophet Joel wrote: “All those who ask the Lord God to save them will be saved {The Lord God will save all those who ask him to save them}.”

¹⁴ In regard to the people of Israel rejecting the gospel, some people might object by saying, (OR, This raises another problem about the Jews:) “◄They certainly cannot ask Christ to save them if they have not first believed in him!/How can they ask Christ to help/save them if they have not first believed in him?► RHQ And ◄they certainly cannot believe in him if they have not heard about him!/how can they believe in him if they have not heard about him?► RHQ And ◄they certainly cannot hear about him if someone does not preach to them about him!/how can they hear about him if someone does not preach to them about him?► RHQ

¹⁵ And those who preach to them about Christ, ◄certainly cannot preach if they are not sent by God {if God does not send them} to preach!/how can they preach if they are not sent by God {if God does not send them} to preach?► RHQ His sending messengers to them would be just like it is written {like someone wrote} in the Scriptures, ‘The arrival MTY of those who preach the good message is wonderful!’ ”

¹⁶ I would reply in this way to people who say such things: God has indeed sent people to preach the message about Christ. But not all the people of Israel have paid attention to the good message! It is like what Isaiah said when he felt very discouraged, “Lord, it seems as if hardly anyone believed what they heard us (exc) preach! RHQ”

¹⁷ So then, I tell you that people are believing in Christ as a result of hearing the message about him, and people are hearing the message as a result of people preaching about Christ!

¹⁸ But if someone were to ask, “Have not the people of Israel heard the message about God?” I would reply that they certainly have heard it! It is like what is written in the Psalms, People living all over the world PRS, MTY have seen the stars, and what they indicate about God's character has reached people living in the most remote places in the world DOU!

¹⁹ But someone might ask, “ Is it true that the people of MTY Israel understood the message about Christ?” I would reply that certainly they understood it, but they rejected it! Remember that Moses was the first one who warned the people of Israel about disobeying God. He told them that God said, You consider that non-Jewish groups are not nations at all CHI. But some of them will believe in me, and I will bless them. Then you will envy them. I will cause you to be angry with those people whom you Jews think do not understand my ways IRO.

⁹ Because, if you say with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and have faith in your heart that God has made him come back from the dead, you will have salvation:

¹⁰ For with the heart man has faith to get righteousness, and with the mouth he says that Jesus is Lord to get salvation.

¹¹ Because it is said in the holy Writings, Whoever has faith in him will not be shamed.

¹² And the Jew is not different from the Greek: for there is the same Lord of all, who is good to all who have hope in his name:

¹³ Because, Whoever will give worship to the name of the Lord will get salvation.

¹⁴ But how will they give worship to him in whom they have no faith? and how will they have faith in him of whom they have not had news? and how will they have news without a preacher?

¹⁵ And how will there be preachers if they are not sent? As it is said, How beautiful are the feet of those who give the glad news of good things.

¹⁶ But they have not all given ear to the good news. For Isaiah says, Lord, who has had faith in our word?

¹⁷ So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

¹⁸ But I say, Did not the word come to their ears? Yes, certainly: Their sound has gone out into all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world.

¹⁹ But I say, Had Israel no knowledge? First Moses says, You will be moved to envy by that which is not a nation, and by a foolish people I will make you angry.

⁹ that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth Jesus as Lord, and shalt believe in thine heart that God has raised him from among the dead, thou shalt be saved.

¹⁰ For with the heart is believed to righteousness; and with the mouth confession made to salvation.

¹¹ For the scripture says, No one believing on him shall be ashamed.

¹² For there is no difference of Jew and Greek; for the same Lord of all is rich towards all that call upon him.

¹³ For every one whosoever, who shall call on the name of the Lord, shall be saved.

¹⁴ How then shall they call upon him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe on him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without one who preaches?

¹⁵ and how shall they preach unless they have been sent? according as it is written, How beautiful the feet of them that announce glad tidings of peace, of them that announce glad tidings of good things!

¹⁶ But they have not all obeyed the glad tidings. For Esaias says, Lord, who has believed our report?

¹⁷ So faith then is by a report, but the report by God's word.

¹⁸ But I say, Have they not heard? Yea, surely, Their voice has gone out into all the earth, and their words to the extremities of the habitable world.

¹⁹ But I say, Has not Israel known? First, Moses says, I will provoke you to jealousy through them that are not a nation: through a nation without understanding I will anger you.

⁹ For if thou confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thy heart that God hath raised him up from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

¹⁰ For, with the heart, we believe unto justice; but, with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.

¹¹ For the scripture saith: Whosoever believeth in him, shall not be confounded.

¹² For there is no distinction of the Jew and the Greek: for the same is Lord over all, rich unto all that call upon him.

¹³ For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved.

¹⁴ How then shall they call on him, in whom they have not believed? Or how shall they believe him, of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear, without a preacher?

⁹ That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

¹⁰ Because with the heart one believes into righteousness, and with the mouth one promises into salvation.

¹¹ Because the Scripture says: “Everyone who believes on Him will never be put to shame”;

¹² because there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, since the same Lord of all is rich to all who call upon Him;

¹³ because: “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

¹⁴ How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how can they believe on Him of whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without someone proclaiming it?

¹⁵ And how will they proclaim unless they are sent? As it is written: “How timely is the arrival of those who bring good news of peace, of those who announce the good things.”

¹⁶ (However, they did not all obey the gospel; because Isaiah says: “Lord, who has believed our message?”)

¹⁷ So, the faith is from a message, and that message is by the Word of God.

¹⁸ But I say, did they really not hear? Indeed yes: “Their voice has gone out into all the earth, and their spoken words to the ends of the inhabited world.”

¹⁹ Again I say, did Israel really not know? First Moses says: “I will provoke you to jealousy by a non-nation, I will move you to anger by a senseless nation.”

⁹ For if you declare that you accept Jesus as Lord, and you are convinced in your mind that God raised him from the dead, then you will be saved.

¹⁰ Your trust in God makes you right and good, and your declaration of accepting God saves you.

¹¹ As Scripture says, “Those who trust in him will not be disappointed.”

¹² There's no difference between Jew and Greek—for the same Lord is Lord of everyone, and he gives generously to everyone who asks him.

¹³ For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

¹⁴ But how can people call on someone they don't trust? How can they trust someone they haven't heard about? How can they hear unless they're told?

¹⁵ How can they go out and tell others unless they're sent? Just as Scripture says, “Those who come bringing the good news are truly welcome!”

¹⁶ But not everyone has accepted the good news. As Isaiah asks: “Lord, who trusted in the news they heard from us?”

¹⁷ Trusting in God comes from hearing—hearing the message of Christ.

¹⁸ It's not that they haven't heard. Quite the opposite: “The voices of those speaking for God have been heard all over the earth—their message went out to the whole world.”

¹⁹ So my question is, “Didn't Israel know?” First of all Moses says, “I'll make you jealous by using people who aren't even a nation; I will make you angry by using ignorant foreigners!”

⁹ For if thou shalt confesse with thy mouth the Lord Iesus, and shalt beleeue in thine heart, that God raised him vp from the dead, thou shalt be saued:

¹⁰ For with the heart man beleeueth vnto righteousnes, and with the mouth man confesseth to saluation.

¹¹ For the Scripture saith, Whosoeuer beleeueth in him, shall not be ashamed.

¹² For there is no difference betweene the Iewe and the Grecian: for he that is Lord ouer all, is rich vnto all, that call on him.

¹³ For whosoeuer shall call vpon the Name of the Lord, shalbe saued.

¹⁴ But how shall they call on him, in whome they haue not beleeued? and how shall they beleeue in him, of whom they haue not heard? and howe shall they heare without a preacher?

¹⁵ And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, Howe beautifull are the feete of them which bring glad tidings of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

¹⁶ But they haue not all obeyed ye Gospel: for Esaias saith, Lord, who hath beleeued our report?

¹⁷ Then faith is by hearing, and hearing by the worde of God.

¹⁸ But I demaund, Haue they not heard? No doubt their sound went out through all the earth, and their wordes into the endes of the worlde.

¹⁹ But I demaund, Did not Israel knowe God? First Moses sayth, I will prouoke you to enuie by a nation that is not my nation, and by a foolish nation I will anger you.

¹¹ For the Scripture saith, “Whoever believeth in him shall not be put to shame.”

¹² For there is no difference between Jew and Greek; for one and the same is Lord over all, rich to all that call upon him.

¹³ For “every one who calleth upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

¹⁴ How then shall they call on him, in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him, of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

¹⁵ and how shall men preach, unless they are sent forth? as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring glad tidings of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!”

¹⁶ But they did not all hearken to the glad tidings. For Isaiah saith, “Lord, who hath believed what he hath heard from us?”

¹⁷ Faith then cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

¹⁸ But I say, Did they not hear? Yes truly, “Their voice went forth into all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world.”

¹⁹ But I say, Hath not Israel had knowledge? First, Moses saith, “I will move you to jealousy by that which is no nation, I will excite you to indignation by a foolish people.”

⁹ For, if with your lips you acknowledge the truth of the message that JESUS IS LORD, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

¹⁰ For with their hearts people believe and so attain to righteousness, while with their lips they make their Profession of faith and so find salvation.

¹¹ As the passage of scripture says — ‘No one who believes in him will have any cause for shame.’

¹² For no distinction is made between the Jew and the Greek, for all have the same Lord, and he is bountiful to all who invoke him.

¹³ For everyone who invokes the name of the Lord will be saved.

⁹ That message is this. If you tell everybody, “I belong to Jesus,” and if you really believe that God made him alive again after he died. If you believe like that and talk like that, God will save you.

¹⁰ If you really believe God, then he says that you are all right. And if you tell everybody that you believe in him, then he saves you.

¹¹ God’s book has this too, “Anyone that trusts God will not be ashamed.”

¹² This message is for everyone, Jewish people and those that are not Jewish. We are all the same, we have the same God and he is good to everyone that asks him for help.

¹³ And God’s book has this too, “God will save everybody that calls out to him and asks him, ‘Please help me and save me.’”

¹⁴ But what about people that don’t believe in God? They can’t call out to him, can they? And what about people that have never even heard about Jesus? They can’t believe in him, can they? Somebody has to tell them about him, and then they can believe in him.

¹⁵ And somebody has to send those messengers to go and tell the people. God’s book has this too, “It is really good to see God’s messengers come and bring his good news.”

¹⁶ But some people don’t want to hear God’s message. Long ago Isaiah wrote about them in God’s book. He wrote this, “Hardly anybody believes the message we tell them, God.”

¹⁷ So, you see, people have to hear that good message about Jesus Christ before they can believe in him.

⁹ For yf thou shalt knowledge with thy mouth that Iesus is the lorde and shalt beleve with thyn hert that God raysed him up from deeth thou shalt be safe.

¹⁰ For the belefe of the hert iustifieth: and to knowledge with the mouth maketh a man safe.

¹¹ For the scripture sayth: whosoever beleveth on him shall not be ashamed.

¹² Ther is no difference bitwene the Iewe and the gentyll. For one is Lorde of all which is ryche vnto all that call on him.

¹³ For whosoever shall call on the name of the lorde shalbe safe.

¹⁴ But how shall they call on him on who they beleved not? how shall they beleve on him of whom they have not herde? how shall they heare with out a preacher?

¹⁵ And how shall they preach except they be sent? As it is written: how beautifull are the fete of them which bringe glad tydynges of peace and bringe glad tydynges of good thinges.

¹⁶ But they have not all obeyed to the gospell. For Esaias sayth: Lorde who shall beleve oure sayinges?

¹⁷ So then fayth cometh by hearynge and hearynge cometh by the worde of God.

¹⁸ But I axe: have they not herde? No dout their sounde went out into all londes: and their wordes in to the endes of the worlde.

¹⁹ But I demaunde whether Israel dyd knowe or not? Fyrst Moses sayth: I will provoke you for to envy by the that are no people and by a folisshe nacion I will anger you.

⁹ For if with your mouth you acknowledge Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

¹⁰ For with the heart man believes for righteousness, and with the mouth he acknowledges for salvation.

¹¹ For scripture says, “Everyone who believes on him will not be put to shame.”

¹² For there is no difference between Jew and Greek. For the same Lord is Lord of all, and he is rich to all who call upon him.

¹³ For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

¹⁴ How then can they call on him in whom they have not believed? How can they believe in him of whom they have not heard? How can they hear without a preacher?

¹⁵ Then how can they preach, unless they are sent?—As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who proclaim glad tidings of good things!”

¹⁶ But they did not all listen to the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?”

¹⁷ So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

¹⁸ But I say, “Did they not hear?” Yes, most certainly. “Their sound has gone out into all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world.”

¹⁹ Moreover, I say, “Did Israel not know?” First Moses says, “I will provoke you to jealousy by what is not a nation. By means of a nation without understanding, I will stir you up to anger.”

⁹ that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

¹⁰ For with the heart one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation.

¹¹ For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in him will not be disappointed.”

¹² For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, and is rich to all who call on him.

¹³ For, “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

¹⁹ But I say, Whether Israel knew not? First Moses saith, I shall lead you to envy, that ye be no folk or into not a folk; that ye be an unwise folk, I shall send you into wrath.

⁹ That if thou acknowledge in thy mouth the Lord Jesus Christ, and believest in thine heart, that God raised him from death or that God raised him from (the) dead, thou shalt be safe. (If thou acknowledge with thy mouth that Jesus Christ is the Lord, and believest in thine heart, that God raised him from the dead, then thou shalt be saved.)

¹⁰ For by heart me believeth to rightwiseness or Forsooth by heart men believeth to rightwiseness, but by mouth acknowledging is made to health (or unto salvation).

¹¹ For why the scripture saith, Each that believeth in him, shall not be confounded. (Because the Scripture saith, Everyone who believeth in him, shall not be shamed.)

¹² And there is no distinction of Jew and of Greek (or And there is no difference between Jew and Greek); for the same Lord of all is rich into all, that inwardly call him or that in-call him.

¹³ For each man, whoever shall inwardly call the name of the Lord or whoever shall in-call the name of the Lord, shall be safe (or shall be saved).

¹⁴ How then shall they inwardly call him or How therefore shall they in-call him, into whom they have not believed? or how shall they believe to him, whom they have not heard? (or how shall they believe in him, whom they have not heard?) How shall they hear, without a preacher?

¹⁵ and how shall they preach, but (that) they be sent? As it is written, How fair be the feet of them that preach or that evangelize peace, of them that preach good things.

¹⁷ Therefore faith is of hearing or Therefore faith by hearing, but hearing by the word of Christ (or through the word of the Messiah).

¹⁸ But I say, Whether they heard not? Yes, soothly, the sound of them went out into all the earth, (Yes, truly, their voices went out unto all the earth), and their words into the ends of the world.

¹⁹ But I say, Whether Israel knew not? First Moses saith, I shall lead you to envy, that ye be no folk (or so that ye be not a nation), or First Moses saith, I shall lead you to envy, to not a folk; (for) that ye be an unwise folk, I shall send you into wrath.

⁹ that if thou mayest confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and mayest believe in thy heart that God did raise him out of the dead, thou shalt be saved,

¹⁰ for with the heart doth one believe to righteousness, and with the mouth is confession made to salvation;

¹¹ for the Writing saith, 'Every one who is believing on him shall not be ashamed,'

¹² for there is no difference between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord of all is rich to all those calling upon Him,

¹³ for every one — whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, he shall be saved.'

¹⁴ How then shall they call upon him in whom they did not believe? and how shall they believe on him of whom they did not hear? and how shall they hear apart from one preaching?

¹⁵ and how shall they preach, if they may not be sent? according as it hath been written, 'How beautiful the feet of those proclaiming good tidings of peace, of those proclaiming good tidings of the good things!'

¹⁶ But they were not all obedient to the good tidings, for Isaiah saith, 'Lord, who did give credence to our report?'

¹⁷ so then the faith is by a report, and the report through a saying of God,

¹⁸ but I say, Did they not hear? yes, indeed — 'to all the earth their voice went forth, and to the ends of the habitable world their sayings.'

¹⁹ But I say, Did not Israel know? first Moses saith, 'I will provoke you to jealousy by that which is not a nation; by an unintelligent nation I will anger you,'
