Proverbs 7:22-27 in English

²² He goeth after her straightway, As an ox goeth to the slaughter, Or as one in fetters to the correction of the fool;

²³ Till an arrow strike through his liver; As a bird hasteth to the snare, And knoweth not that it is for his life.

²⁴ Now therefore, my sons, hearken unto me, And attend to the words of my mouth.

²⁵ Let not thy heart decline to her ways; Go not astray in her paths.

²⁶ For she hath cast down many wounded: Yea, all her slain are a mighty host.

²⁷ Her house is the way to Sheol, Going down to the chambers of death.

²² And he followed her, being gently led on, and that as an ox is led to the slaughter, and as a dog to bonds, or as a hart shot in the liver with an arrow:

²³ and he hastens as a bird into a snare, not knowing that he is running for his life.

²⁴ Now then, my son, hearken to me, and attend to the words of my mouth.

²⁵ Let not thine heart turn aside to her ways:

²⁶ for she has wounded and cast down many, and those whom she has slain are innumerable.

²⁷ Her house is the way of hell, leading down to the chambers of death.

²² And he went with her immediately, like an ox that was going to where it would be slaughtered, or like a deer (OR, a fool) that is stepping into a noose/trap,

²³ where it will remain/stay until someone shoots an arrow into its liver and kills it. He was like a bird that flew into a trap. He did not know that ◄it would cost him his life/he would die as a result►.

²⁴ My son, listen to what I say; pay careful attention to my words.

²⁵ Do not allow anything to arouse/persuade you to go with an immoral woman like that. Do not go where she goes.

²⁶ She has caused many men to be ruined; truly, no one can count the men she has killed.

²⁷ The road to her house is the road to the grave. Those who enter her bedroom PRS will die as a result.

²² And he followed her, being gently led on, and that as an ox is led to the slaughter, and as a dog to bonds, or as a hart shot in the liver with an arrow:

²³ and he hastens as a bird into a snare, not knowing that he is running for his life.

²³ Like a bird falling into a net; with no thought that his life is in danger, till an arrow goes into his side.

²⁴ So now, my sons, give ear to me; give attention to the sayings of my mouth;

²⁵ Let not your heart be turned to her ways, do not go wandering in her footsteps.

²⁶ For those wounded and made low by her are great in number; and all those who have come to their death through her are a great army.

²⁷ Her house is the way to the underworld, going down to the rooms of death.

²² He went after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, and as stocks serve for the correction of the fool;

²³ till an arrow strike through his liver: as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for its life.

²⁴ And now, ye sons, hearken unto me, and attend to the words of my mouth.

²⁵ Let not thy heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths:

²⁶ for she hath cast down many wounded, and all slain by her were strong.

²⁷ Her house is the way to Sheol, going down to the chambers of death.

²² Immediately he followeth her as an ox led to be a victim, and as a lamb playing the wanton, and not knowing that he is drawn like a fool to bonds,

²³ Till the arrow pierce his liver: as if a bird should make haste to the snare, and knoweth not that his life is in danger.

²⁴ Now therefore, my son, hear me, and attend to the words of my mouth.

²⁵ Let not thy mind be drawn away in her ways: neither be thou deceived with her paths.

²⁶ For she hath cast down many wounded, and the strongest have been slain by her.

²⁷ Her house is the way to hell, reaching even to the inner chambers of death.

²² He followed her right away, like an ox to the slaughter. Like a stag that's caught in a snare

²³ until an arrow pierces its liver, like a bird flying into a trap, he's unaware he will pay with his life.

²⁴ So now listen to me, my sons, and pay attention to what I'm saying.

²⁵ Don't even think about following her. Don't stray down her road.

²⁶ For she has brought down and destroyed a lot of men; she's killed so many.

²⁷ Her house leads to the grave—it goes down to the rooms of death.

²² And he followed her straight wayes, as an oxe that goeth to the slaughter, and as a foole to the stockes for correction,

²³ Till a dart strike through his liuer, as a bird hasteth to the snare, not knowing that he is in danger.

²⁴ Heare me now therefore, O children, and hearken to the wordes of my mouth.

²⁵ Let not thine heart decline to her wayes: wander thou not in her paths.

²⁶ For shee hath caused many to fall downe wounded, and the strong men are all slaine by her.

²⁷ Her house is the way vnto ye graue, which goeth downe to the chambers of death.

²² He goeth after her straightway, as an ox that goeth to the slaughter, or as one in fetters to the correction of the fool;

²³ Till an arrow strike through his liver; as a bird hasteneth to the snare — and knoweth not that it is at the cost of his life.

²⁴ Now therefore, O ye children, hearken unto me, and attend to the words of my mouth.

²⁵ Let not thy heart turn aside to her ways, do not go astray on her paths.

²⁶ For many deadly wounded hath she caused to fall: yea, very numerous are all those slain by her.

²⁷ The ways to the nether world is her house leading down to the chambers of death.

²² And he followed her, being gently led on, And that as an ox is led to the slaughter, And as a dog to bonds, Or as a hart shot in the liver with an arrow:

²³ And he hastens as a bird into a snare, Not knowing that he is running for his life.

²⁴ Now then, my son, hearken to me, And attend to the words of my mouth.

²⁵ Let not thy heart turn aside to her ways:

²⁷ Her house is the way to Sheol ·Place of the dead·, going down to the rooms of death.

²³ until an arrow pierces through its liver. He was like a bird rushing into a snare. He did not know that it would cost his life.

²⁴ Now, my sons, listen to me; pay attention to the words of my mouth.

²⁵ May your heart not turn aside onto her paths; do not be led astray onto her paths.

²⁶ She has caused many people to fall down pierced; her dead victims are very many.

²⁷ Her house is on the paths to Sheol; they go down to the dark bedrooms of death.

²² He followed her immediately, as an ox goes to the slaughter, as a fool stepping into a noose.

²³ Until an arrow strikes through his liver, as a bird hurries to the snare, and doesn’t know that it will cost his life.

²² Anon he as an ox led to slain sacrifice pursueth or followeth her, and as a jolly lamb and unknowing; and the fool knoweth not, that he is drawn to bonds,

²³ till an arrow pierce his maw. As if a bird hasteth to the snare; and knoweth not, that it is done of the peril of his life.

²⁴ Now therefore, my son, hear thou me; and perceive the words of my mouth.

²⁵ Lest thy soul be drawn away in the ways of her; neither be thou deceived in the paths of her.

²⁶ For she hath cast down many wounded men; and all the strongest men were slain of her.

²⁷ The ways of hell is her house; and pierce into the inner things of death.

²² Anon he as an ox led to slain sacrifice followeth her, and as a jolly lamb and unknowing; and the fool knoweth not, that he is drawn to bonds, (And so at once he followeth her, like an ox led away to be slain for the offering, and like a jolly, and unknowing, lamb; and the fool knoweth not, that he is drawn into bonds,)

²³ till an arrow pierce his maw. As if a bird hasteth to the snare; and knoweth not, that it is done of the peril of his life. (until an arrow pierce his belly. Yea, like a bird that hasteneth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is done at the peril of its own life.)

²⁴ Now therefore, my son, hear thou me; and perceive the words of my mouth. (And so now, my son, listen thou to me; and understand the words that I speak.)

²⁵ Lest thy soul be drawn away in the ways of her; neither be thou deceived in the paths of her. (Lest thy life be drawn away by her ways; go thou not forth on her deceptive paths.)

²⁶ For she hath cast down many wounded men; and all the strongest men were slain of her. (For she hath wounded, and cast down, many men; yea, even the strongest men have been slain by her.)

²⁷ The ways of hell is her house; and pierce(th) into the inner things of death. (Her house is the way, or the entrance, to Sheol or to hell; yea, it leadeth down to the land of the dead.)

²² He is going after her straightway, As an ox unto the slaughter he cometh, And as a fetter unto the chastisement of a fool,

²³ Till an arrow doth split his liver, As a bird hath hastened unto a snare, And hath not known that it is for its life.

²⁴ And now, ye sons, hearken to me, And give attention to sayings of my mouth.

²⁵ Let not thy heart turn unto her ways, Do not wander in her paths,

²⁶ For many are the wounded she caused to fall, And mighty are all her slain ones.

²⁷ The ways of Sheol — her house, Going down unto inner chambers of death!
