¹ My son, forget not my law; But let thy heart keep my commandments:

² For length of days, and years of life, And peace, will they add to thee.

³ Let not kindness and truth forsake thee: Bind them about thy neck; Write them upon the tablet of thy heart:

⁴ So shalt thou find favor and good understanding In the sight of God and man.

⁵ Trust in Jehovah with all thy heart, And lean not upon thine own understanding:

⁶ In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he will direct thy paths.

⁷ Be not wise in thine own eyes; Fear Jehovah, and depart from evil:

⁸ It will be health to thy navel, And marrow to thy bones.

⁹ Honor Jehovah with thy substance, And with the first-fruits of all thine increase:

¹⁰ So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, And thy vats shall overflow with new wine.

¹¹ My son, despise not the chastening of Jehovah; Neither be weary of his reproof:

¹² For whom Jehovah loveth he reproveth, Even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

¹³ Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, And the man that getteth understanding.

¹⁴ For the gaining of it is better than the gaining of silver, And the profit thereof than fine gold.

¹⁵ She is more precious than rubies: And none of the things thou canst desire are to be compared unto her.

¹⁶ Length of days is in her right hand; In her left hand are riches and honor.

¹⁷ Her ways are ways of pleasantness, And all her paths are peace.

¹⁸ She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: And happy is every one that retaineth her.

¹⁹ Jehovah by wisdom founded the earth; By understanding he established the heavens.

²⁰ By his knowledge the depths were broken up, And the skies drop down the dew.

²¹ My son, let them not depart from thine eyes; Keep sound wisdom and discretion:

²² So shall they be life unto thy soul, And grace to thy neck.

¹ My son, forget not my laws; but let thine heart keep my words:

² for length of existence, and years of life, and peace, shall they add to thee.

³ Let not mercy and truth forsake thee; but bind them about thy neck:

⁴ so shalt thou find favour: and do thou provide things honest in the sight of the Lord, and of men.

⁵ Trust in God with all thine heart; and be not exalted in thine own wisdom.

⁶ In all thy ways acquaint thyself with her, that she may rightly direct thy paths.

⁷ Be not wise in thine own conceit; but fear God, and depart from all evil.

⁸ Then shall there be health to thy body, and good keeping to thy bones.

⁹ Honour the Lord with thy just labours, and give him the first of thy fruits of righteousness:

¹⁰ that thy storehouses may be completely filled with corn, and that thy presses may burst forth with wine.

¹¹ My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:

¹² for whom the Lord loves, he rebukes, and scourges every son whom he receives.

¹³ Blessed is the man who has found wisdom, and the mortal who knows prudence.

¹⁴ For it is better to traffic for her, than for treasures of gold and silver.

¹⁵ And she is more valuable than precious stones: no evil thing shall resist her: she is well known to all that approach her, and no precious thing is equal to her in value.

¹⁶ For length of existence and years of life are in her right hand; and in her left hand are wealth and glory:

^16a out of her mouth proceeds righteousness, and she carries law and mercy upon her tongue.

¹⁷ Her ways are good ways, and all her paths are peaceful.

¹⁸ She is a tree of life to all that lay hold upon her; and she is a secure help to all that stay themselves on her, as on the Lord.

¹⁹ God by wisdom founded the earth, and by prudence he prepared the heavens.

²⁰ By understanding were the depths broken up, and the clouds dropped water.

²¹ My son, let them not pass from thee, but keep my counsel and understanding:

²² that thy soul may live, and that there may be grace round thy neck;

^22a and it shall be health to thy flesh, and safety to thy bones:

¹ My son, do not forget what I have taught you. Keep my commands in your inner being,

² because if you obey them you will live a long time and things will go well for you

³ Always faithfully love others and ◄be faithful/do what you say that you will do►; doing those things will cause others to be pleased with you; it will be as though you are wearing a beautiful necklace. Keep those things in your mind/inner being.

⁴ If you do, God and people will approve of you and think highly of you MTY.

⁵ Trust in Yahweh completely, and do not rely on what you yourself understand.

⁶ Always allow him to lead you. If you do that, he will ◄show you the right path/direct your life►.

⁷ Do not be proud of being wise. Instead, revere Yahweh and turn away from doing evil.

⁸ If you do that, your body will be healthy/strong; it will be like medicine for you.

⁹ Honor Yahweh by what you do with your money; and by giving him the first part of your harvest.

¹⁰ If you do that, you will have a good harvest. Yahweh will fill your barns with grain, and your vats/containers will be overflowing with grape juice for making wine.

¹¹ My son, when Yahweh disciplines/corrects you, do not despise it, and if he rebukes you, do not resent it.

¹² I say that because it is the people whom Yahweh loves that he corrects/reproves, just like parents correct/reprove their sons whom they love.

¹³ Yahweh is pleased with those who become wise and have good understanding.

¹⁴ Being wise and having good understanding is worth more than silver, better than gold.

¹⁵ Being wise is more precious than ◄jewels/precious stones►; there is nothing that you could desire that would be as valuable as wisdom.

¹⁶ On the one hand, wisdom PRS enables you to live a long life, and on the other hand, wisdom enables you to become rich and to be honored.

¹⁷ If you are wise, your life will be pleasant, and things will go well for you.

¹⁸ Wisdom is like a tree that gives long life to those who eagerly take hold of it, and Yahweh is pleased with those who hold onto it tightly.

¹⁹ By his wisdom Yahweh created the earth, and by his understanding he put everything in the skies.

²⁰ By his knowledge he caused the water that was beneath the earth to burst forth, and he caused rain to fall from the clouds.

²¹ My son, always keep doing things that are right and things that are smart. If you do that,

²² you will live many years and be honored and respected {people will honor and respect you}.

⁷ Put no high value on your wisdom: let the fear of the Lord be before you, and keep yourself from evil:

⁸ This will give strength to your flesh, and new life to your bones.

⁹ Give honour to the Lord with your wealth, and with the first-fruits of all your increase:

¹⁰ So your store-houses will be full of grain, and your vessels overflowing with new wine.

¹¹ My son, do not make your heart hard against the Lord's teaching; do not be made angry by his training:

¹² For to those who are dear to him the Lord says sharp words, and makes the son in whom he has delight undergo pain.

¹³ Happy is the man who makes discovery of wisdom, and he who gets knowledge.

¹⁴ For trading in it is better than trading in silver, and its profit greater than bright gold.

¹⁵ She is of more value than jewels, and nothing for which you may have a desire is fair in comparison with her.

¹⁶ Long life is in her right hand, and in her left are wealth and honour.

¹⁷ Her ways are ways of delight, and all her goings are peace.

¹⁸ She is a tree of life to all who take her in their hands, and happy is everyone who keeps her.

¹⁹ The Lord by wisdom put in position the bases of the earth; by reason he put the heavens in their place.

²⁰ By his knowledge the deep was parted, and dew came dropping from the skies.

²¹ My son, keep good sense, and do not let wise purpose go from your eyes.

²² So they will be life for your soul, and grace for your neck.

² for length of days, and years of life, and peace shall they add to thee.

³ Let not loving-kindness and truth forsake thee; bind them about thy neck, write them upon the tablet of thy heart:

⁴ and thou shalt find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

⁵ Confide in Jehovah with all thy heart, and lean not unto thine own intelligence;

⁶ in all thy ways acknowledge him, and he will make plain thy paths.

⁷ Be not wise in thine own eyes; fear Jehovah, and depart from evil:

⁸ it shall be health for thy navel, and moisture for thy bones.

⁹ Honour Jehovah with thy substance, and with the first-fruits of all thine increase;

¹⁰ so shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy vats shall overflow with new wine.

¹¹ My son, despise not the instruction of Jehovah, neither be weary of his chastisement;

¹² for whom Jehovah loveth he chasteneth, even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

¹³ Blessed is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

¹⁴ For the gain thereof is better than the gain of silver, and her revenue than fine gold.

¹⁵ She is more precious than rubies; and all the things thou canst desire are not equal unto her.

¹⁶ Length of days is in her right hand; in her left hand riches and honour.

¹⁷ Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

¹⁸ She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her; and happy is he that retaineth her.

⁶ In all thy ways think on him, and he will direct thy steps.

⁷ I Be not wise in thy own conceit: fear God, and depart from evil:

⁸ For it shall be health to thy navel, and moistening to thy bones.

⁹ Honour the Lord with thy substance, and give him of the first of all thy fruits:

¹⁰ And thy barns shall be filled with abundance, and thy presses shall run over with wine.

¹¹ My son, reject not the correction of the Lord: and do not faint when thou art chastised by him:

¹² For whom the Lord loveth, he chastiseth: and as a father in the son he pleaseth himself.

¹³ Blessed is the man that findeth wisdom and is rich in prudence:

¹⁴ The purchasing thereof is better than the merchandise of silver, and her fruit than the chiefest and purest gold:

¹⁵ She is more precious than all riches: and all the things that are desired, are not to be compared with her.

¹⁶ Length of days is in her right hand, and in her left hand riches and glory.

¹⁷ Her ways are beautiful ways, and all her paths are peaceable.

¹⁸ She is a tree of life to them that lay hold on her: and he that shall retain her is blessed.

¹⁹ The Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth, hath established the heavens by prudence.

²⁰ By his wisdom the depths have broken out, and the clouds grow thick with dew.

²¹ My son, let not these things depart from thy eyes: keep the law and counsel:

²² And there shall be life to thy soul, and grace to thy mouth.

¹ My son, don't forget my instructions. Always keep my commands in mind.

² Then you will live a long time, and have a full life.

³ Hold on to kindness and truth. Tie them around your neck; write them in your mind.

⁴ That way you'll gain a good reputation and be appreciated by both God and people.

¹⁴ The getting thereof is better than the merchandise or chaffering of gold and of silver; the fruits thereof be the first and the cleanest.

¹⁵ It is more precious than all riches; and all things that be desired, may not be comparisoned to this.

¹⁶ Length of days is in the right half thereof, and riches and glory be in the left half thereof.

¹⁷ The ways thereof be fair ways, and all the paths thereof be peaceable.

¹⁸ It is a tree of life to them that take it; and he that holdeth it, is blessed.

¹⁹ The Lord founded the earth by wisdom; he stablished heavens by prudence.

²⁰ The depths of waters brake out by his wisdom; and clouds waxed alto-gether with dew.

²¹ My son, these things float not away or not flow away from thine eyes; keep thou my law, and my counsel;

²² and life shall be to thy soul, and grace to thy cheeks.

¹ My son, forget thou not my law; and thine heart keep my commandments.

² For they shall set to thee the length of days, and the years of life, and peace.

³ Mercy and truth forsake thee not; bind thou those to thy throat, and write them in the tables of thine heart. (Let not mercy and truth desert thee; bind thou them about thy neck, and write them on the tablets of thy heart.)

⁴ And thou shalt find grace (or And thou shalt receive favour), and good teaching before God and men.

⁵ Have thou trust in the Lord, of all thine heart; and lean thou not to thy prudence. (Have thou trust in the Lord, with all thy heart, and lean thou not unto thy own understanding.)

⁶ In all thy ways think on him, and he shall (ad)dress thy goings. (In all thy ways, or in all thy deeds, think of him, and he shall direct thy steps.)

⁷ Be thou not wise with thyself; dread thou God, and go away from evil. (Do not think thyself wise; but fear God or but revere God, and go thou away from evil.)

⁸ For why health shall be in thy navel, and moisting of thy bones. (For that shall be health for thy body, or thy entrails, and moistening for thy bones.)

⁹ Honour thou the Lord of thy chattel, and of the best of all thy fruits give thou to poor men; (Honour thou the Lord with thy possessions, and with the best of all thy fruits, or of all thy earnings;)

¹⁰ and (then) thy barns shall be filled with abundance, and thy pressers shall flow with wine (or and thy winepresses shall flow with wine).

¹¹ My son, cast thou not away the teaching of the Lord; and fail thou not, when thou art chastised of him, (or and faint thou not, or and spurn thou him not, when thou art disciplined by him).

¹² For the Lord chastiseth him, whom he loveth; and as a father in the son he pleaseth him (or and like a father to his son who pleaseth him).

¹³ Blessed is the man that findeth wisdom, and that floweth with prudence. (Blessed is the person who findeth wisdom, and who floweth with understanding.)

²² and life shall be to thy soul, and grace to thy cheeks. (and thou shalt have life, and gain favour.)

¹ My son! my law forget not, And my commands let thy heart keep,

³ Let not kindness and truth forsake thee, Bind them on thy neck, Write them on the tablet of thy heart,

⁴ And find grace and good understanding In the eyes of God and man.

⁵ Trust unto Jehovah with all thy heart, And unto thine own understanding lean not.

⁶ In all thy ways know thou Him, And He doth make straight thy paths.

⁷ Be not wise in thine own eyes, Fear Jehovah, and turn aside from evil.

⁸ Healing it is to thy navel, And moistening to thy bones.

⁹ Honour Jehovah from thy substance, And from the beginning of all thine increase;

¹⁰ And filled are thy barns with plenty, And with new wine thy presses break forth.

¹¹ Chastisement of Jehovah, my son, despise not, And be not vexed with His reproof,

¹² For whom Jehovah loveth He reproveth, Even as a father the son He is pleased with.

¹³ O the happiness of a man who hath found wisdom, And of a man who bringeth forth understanding.

¹⁴ For better is her merchandise Than the merchandise of silver, And than gold — her increase.

¹⁵ Precious she is above rubies, And all thy pleasures are not comparable to her.

¹⁶ Length of days is in her right hand, In her left are wealth and honour.

¹⁷ Her ways are ways of pleasantness, And all her paths are peace.

¹⁸ A tree of life she is to those laying hold on her, And whoso is retaining her is happy.

¹⁹ Jehovah by wisdom did found the earth, He prepared the heavens by understanding.

²⁰ By His knowledge depths have been rent, And clouds do drop dew.

²¹ My son! let them not turn from thine eyes, Keep thou wisdom and thoughtfulness,

²² And they are life to thy soul, and grace to thy neck.
