²¹ For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty; And drowsiness will clothe a man with rags.

²² Hearken unto thy father that begat thee, And despise not thy mother when she is old.

²³ Buy the truth, and sell it not; Yea, wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.

²⁴ The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; And he that begetteth a wise child will have joy of him.

²⁵ Let thy father and thy mother be glad, And let her that bare thee rejoice.

²⁶ My son, give me thy heart; And let thine eyes delight in my ways.

²⁷ For a harlot is a deep ditch; And a foreign woman is a narrow pit.

²⁸ Yea, she lieth in wait as a robber, And increaseth the treacherous among men.

²⁹ Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? Who hath complaining? who hath wounds without cause? Who hath redness of eyes?

³⁰ They that tarry long at the wine; They that go to seek out mixed wine.

³¹ Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, When it sparkleth in the cup, When it goeth down smoothly:

³² At the last it biteth like a serpent, And stingeth like an adder.

²³ Try to know/learn what is wise, and get good instruction and understanding; and do not throw those things away.

²⁴ Righteous children will cause their parents to be very happy; those whose children are wise are proud of them.

²⁵ Do what will cause your father to be glad and enable your mother also to be happy.

²⁶ My son, heed what I say to you, and allow what I do to be an example for you.

²⁷ Prostitutes and immoral women DOU are like MET a deep pit or a well that you may fall into.

²⁸ They wait for you like robbers SIM, and they cause many men to ◄be unfaithful to/have sex with women who are not► their wives.

²⁹ I will tell you RHQ what kind of people are always miserable and sad. I will tell you RHQ which people are always causing arguments/quarrels and who are always complaining. I will tell you RHQ who are injured in fights and whose eyes are always red/bloodshot.

³⁰ It is those who drink a lot of wine, who try drinking other kinds of strong drinks.

³¹ Do not look with pleasure at red wine that looks nice, and which sparkles when it is poured out into cups, and which tastes good as you drink it,

³² because the next morning you will feel like you have been bitten by a poisonous snake DOU.

²⁴ The father of the upright man will be glad, and he who has a wise child will have joy because of him.

²⁷ For a loose woman is a deep hollow, and a strange woman is a narrow water-hole.

²⁸ Yes, she is waiting secretly like a beast for its food, and deceit by her is increased among men.

²⁹ Who says, Oh! who says, Ah! who has violent arguments, who has grief, who has wounds without cause, whose eyes are dark?

³⁰ Those who are seated late over the wine: those who go looking for mixed wine.

³¹ Keep your eyes from looking on the wine when it is red, when its colour is bright in the cup, when it goes smoothly down:

³² In the end, its bite is like that of a snake, its wound like the wound of a poison-snake.

³¹ Look not upon the wine when it is yellow, when the colour thereof shineth in the glass: it goeth in pleasantly,

³² But in the end, it will bite like a snake, and will spread abroad poison like a basilisk.

²¹ For people who get drunk and overeat lose all they've got, and they spend so much time dozing that all they have left to wear is rags.

²² Pay attention to your father, and don't disregard your mother when she's old.

²³ Invest in truth—and don't sell it! Invest in wisdom, instruction, and understanding.

²⁴ Children who do right make their fathers very happy; a wise son brings joy to his father.

²⁵ Make your father and mother happy; bring joy to her who gave birth to you.

²⁶ My son, give me your undivided attention, and cheerfully follow my example.

²⁷ A prostitute is like being trapped in a pit; an immoral woman is like getting stuck a narrow well,

²⁸ Like a robber, she lies in wait ready to ambush men and make more of them unfaithful to their wives.

²⁹ Who's in trouble? Who's in pain? Who's arguing? Who's complaining? Who's injured for no reason? Who's got bloodshot eyes?

³⁰ —those who spend a long time drinking wine, those who are always trying some new cocktail.

³¹ Don't let the look of wine tempt you—how red it is, how it sparkles in the cup, how smooth it feels as it goes down.

³² In the end it bites like a serpent, it stings like a snake.

²¹ For the drunkard and the glutton shall bee poore, and the sleeper shalbe clothed with ragges.

²² Obey thy father that hath begotten thee, and despise not thy mother when she is olde.

²³ Bye the trueth, but sell it not: likewise wisdome, and instruction, and vnderstanding.

²⁴ The father of the righteous shall greatly reioyce, and hee that begetteth a wise childe, shall haue ioy of him.

Those who are always drinking, testing different kinds of wine. That wine is good to look at, and really sweet to taste. Don't ever trust it. When a poisonous snake bites you, you get really sick, it is very painful when a death adder bites you, in that same way after drinking wine you will get really sick. You will see frightening things that aren't there and you will talk in a stupid way. You all know about the sailing ships in the sea, the post that holds the sail is really tall. That post moves in the wind in every direction. In that same way that drunk person walks in a staggering way. And he will say, “They hit me but I didn't feel it. I didn't know

³⁰ Those who linger over wine, those who try the mixed wine.

³⁰ Whether not to them, that dwell in wine, and study to drink up all of (the) cups? (Whether not to those, who live in wine, and endeavour to drink up every last drop from the cup?)
