⁴ A gentle tongue is a tree of life; But perverseness therein is a breaking of the spirit.

⁵ A fool despiseth his father’s correction; But he that regardeth reproof getteth prudence.

⁶ In the house of the righteous is much treasure; But in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.

⁷ The lips of the wise disperse knowledge; But the heart of the foolish doeth not so.

⁸ The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to Jehovah; But the prayer of the upright is his delight.

⁴ The wholesome tongue is a tree of life, and he that keeps it shall be filled with understanding.

⁵ A fool scorns his father's instruction: but he that keeps his commandments is more prudent. In abounding righteousness is great strength: but the ungodly shall utterly perish from the earth.

⁶ In the houses of the righteous is much strength: but the fruits of the ungodly shall perish.

⁷ The lips of the wise are bound by discretion: but the hearts of the foolish are not safe.

⁸ The sacrifices of the ungodly are an abomination to the Lord; but the prayers of them that walk honestly are acceptable with him.

⁴ Those who speak MTY kindly to people are like MET trees whose fruit gives life; speaking what is false causes people to ◄despair/feel very discouraged►.

⁵ Foolish children despise their parents when their parents correct/discipline them; wise children accept it.

⁶ There are many valuable things in the houses of righteous people; the wealth of wicked people causes them to have troubles/difficulties.

⁷ What wise people teach MTY causes others to know much more, but foolish people cannot teach others what is useful.

⁸ Yahweh detests the sacrifices that are offered by wicked people; what delights/pleases him very much are the prayers of righteous/good people.

⁵ A fool laugheth at the instruction of his father: but he that regardeth reproofs shall become prudent. In abundant justice there is the greatest strength: but the devices of the wicked shall be rooted out.

⁶ The house of the just is very much strength: and in the fruits of the wicked is trouble.

⁷ The lips of the wise shall disperse knowledge: the heart of fools shall be unlike.

⁸ The victims of the wicked are abominable to the Lord: the vows of the just are acceptable.

⁴ Gentle words are a source of life, but telling lies does a lot of damage.

⁵ Only a foolish son despises his father's instruction, but one who accepts correction is sensible.

⁶ There's plenty of treasure where good people live, but the income of the wicked brings them trouble.

⁷ Wise people share their knowledge, but stupid people don't think like that.

⁸ The Lord hates the sacrifices of the wicked, but he loves the prayers of the good.

⁴ A wholesome tongue is as a tree of life: but the frowardnes therof is the breaking of ye minde.

⁶ The house of a just or rightwise man is full great strength; and troubling is in the fruits of a wicked man.

⁷ The lips of wise men shall sow abroad knowing; the hearts of fools shall be unlike, that is, they shall be full of ignorance.

⁸ The sacrifices of wicked men be abominable to the Lord; the avows of just men or the vows of rightwise men be pleasant.

⁴ A pleasant tongue is the tree of life; but the tongue that is unmeasurable or untempered, shall defoul the spirit.

⁵ A fool scorneth the teaching of his father; but he that keepeth blamings (or but he who receiveth rebukes), shall be made wiser. Most virtue shall be in plenteous rightfulness; but the thoughts of wicked men shall be drawn up by the root.

⁶ (In) The house of a just man is full great strength; and troubling is in the fruits of a wicked man. (In the house of the righteous is very great wealth; and trouble is in the fruits of the wicked.)

⁷ The lips of wise men shall sow abroad knowing (or The lips of the wise sow abroad knowledge); (but) the heart(s) of fools shall be unlike (them, that is, they shall be full of ignorance).

⁸ The sacrifices of wicked men be abominable to the Lord; the avows of just men be pleasant. (The sacrifices of the wicked be abominable to the Lord; but the vows of the righteous be pleasing to him.)
