Proverbs 15:12-16 in English

¹² A scoffer loveth not to be reproved; He will not go unto the wise.

¹³ A glad heart maketh a cheerful countenance; But by sorrow of heart the spirit is broken.

¹⁴ The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge; But the mouth of fools feedeth on folly.

¹⁵ All the days of the afflicted are evil; But he that is of a cheerful heart hath a continual feast.

¹⁶ Better is little, with the fear of Jehovah, Than great treasure and trouble therewith.

¹² An uninstructed person will not love those that reprove him; neither will he associate with the wise.

¹³ When the heart rejoices the countenance is cheerful; but when it is in sorrow, the countenance is sad.

¹⁴ An upright heart seeks discretion; but the mouth of the uninstructed will experience evils.

¹⁵ The eyes of the wicked are always looking for evil things; but the good are always quiet.

¹³ When people are happy, they have smiles on their faces; but when they are sad, by looking at their faces we can see that they are sad.

¹⁴ Those who have good sense want to learn more; foolish people MTY are very satisfied with being foolish/ignorant.

¹⁵ Those who are oppressed constantly have difficulties, but those who (OR, if they) are happy, it is as though MET they are having a big feast every day.

¹⁶ Being poor and revering Yahweh is better than being rich and having a lot of troubles.

¹⁴ The heart of a wise man seeketh teaching; and the mouth of fools is fed with unknowing, (or with ignorance).

¹⁵ All the days of a poor man be evil; a secure soul is a continual feast. (All the days of the poor be evil; the life of a secure soul is a continual feast.)

¹⁶ Better is a little with the dread of the Lord, than many treasures and unfillable. (Better is a little with the fear of the Lord or with reverence for the Lord, than many treasures and troubles.)

¹² A scorner loveth not his reprover, Unto the wise he goeth not.

¹³ A joyful heart maketh glad the face, And by grief of heart is the spirit smitten.

¹⁴ The heart of the intelligent seeketh knowledge, And the mouth of fools enjoyeth folly.
