¹³ Whoso despiseth the word bringeth destruction on himself; But he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.

¹⁴ The law of the wise is a fountain of life, That one may depart from the snares of death.

¹⁵ Good understanding giveth favor; But the way of the transgressor is hard.

¹⁶ Every prudent man worketh with knowledge; But a fool flaunteth his folly.

¹⁷ A wicked messenger falleth into evil; But a faithful ambassador is health.

¹³ He that slights a matter shall be slighted of it: but he that fears the commandment has health of soul.

^13a To a crafty son there shall be nothing good: but a wise servant shall have prosperous doings, and his way shall be directed aright.

¹³ Those who despise the good advice that others give them are bringing ruin on themselves; those who pay attention to that advice will ◄be secure/succeed►.

¹⁴ What wise people teach is like a fountain whose water gives life MET; what they teach you will help you to escape when something dangerous is threatening to kill you MET.

¹⁵ People respect those who have good sense, but those who cannot be trusted are on the road to being ruined/destroyed (OR, will have a lot of difficulties/troubles).

¹⁶ Those who have good sense always think carefully/wisely before they do something; foolish people show by what they say and do that they are foolish.

¹⁷ Messengers who are not reliable cause trouble, but those who faithfully deliver their messages cause people to act peacefully.

¹⁵ Good teaching shall give grace; a swallow is in the way of despisers.

¹⁶ A fell or witting man doeth all things with counsel; but he that is a fool, shall open folly.

¹⁷ The messenger of a wicked man shall fall into evil; a faithful messenger is health.

¹³ He that backbiteth anything, bindeth himself into the time to coming; but he that dreadeth the commandment, shall live in peace. (He who backbiteth for something said to him, bindeth himself to the time to come; but he who feareth the commandment, shall live in peace.)

¹⁴ The law of a wise man is a well of life; that he bow away from the falling of death, that is, of sin, and of hell. (The teaching of the wise is a well of life; so that thou bow away from the falling of death, that is, from sin, and from hell.)

¹⁵ Good teaching shall give grace; a swallow is in the way of despisers. (Good teaching shall bring favour; a pit is on the way of despisers.)

¹⁶ A fell man doeth all things with counsel; but he that is a fool, shall open folly. (A clever person doeth everything with forethought, or only after advice; but he who is a fool, shall lay open his foolishness for all to see.)

¹⁷ The messenger of a wicked man shall fall into evil; a faithful messenger is health. (A wicked messenger shall fall into evil; but a faithful messenger bringeth health, or victory, or salvation, or deliverance.)

¹³ Whoso is despising the Word is destroyed for it, And whoso is fearing the Command is repayed.

¹⁴ The law of the wise is a fountain of life, To turn aside from snares of death.
