Proverbs 13:1-6 in English

¹ A wise son heareth his father’s instruction; But a scoffer heareth not rebuke.

² A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth; But the soul of the treacherous shall eat violence.

³ He that guardeth his mouth keepeth his life; But he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.

⁴ The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.

⁵ A righteous man hateth lying; But a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame.

⁶ Righteousness guardeth him that is upright in the way; But wickedness overthroweth the sinner.

¹ Children who are wise ◄pay attention/heed it► when their parents discipline/correct them; but foolish children do not pay attention when someone rebukes them for their bad behavior.

² Good people are rewarded IDM for the good things MET that they say, but those who desire to deceive others are very eager to act violently.

³ Those who are very careful about what they say MTY will live a long life; those who talk ◄without thinking/too much► will ruin themselves.

⁴ People who are lazy want things very much, but they will not get anything HYP. People who work hard will get all that they want.

⁵ Righteous/Honest people hate/detest lies, but what wicked people do ◄is very disgraceful/stinks► DOU.

⁶ The behavior PRS of those who always do what is right will protect them, but sinful behavior will ruin wicked people.

⁴ The hater of work does not get his desires, but the soul of the hard workers will be made fat.

⁵ The upright man is a hater of false words: the evil-doer gets a bad name and is put to shame.

⁶ Righteousness keeps safe him whose way is without error, but evil-doers are overturned by sin.

⁴ A sluggard's soul desireth and hath nothing; but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.

⁵ A righteous man hateth lying; but the wicked maketh himself odious and cometh to shame.

⁶ Righteousness preserveth him that is perfect in the way; but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.

¹ A wise son heareth the doctrine of his father: but he that is a scorner, beareth not when he is reproved.

² Of the fruit of his own mouth shall a man be filled with good things: but the soul of transgressors is wicked.

³ He that keepeth his mouth, keepeth his soul: but he that hath no guard on his speech shall meet with evils.

⁴ The sluggard willeth and willeth not: but the soul of them that work, shall be made fat.

⁵ The just shall hate a lying word: but the wicked confoundeth, and shall be confounded.

⁶ Justice keepeth the way of the innocent: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.

¹ A wise son accepts his father's discipline, but a mocker doesn't listen to correction.

² You'll be rewarded for saying good things, but dishonest people want violence.

³ Watch what you say and save your life—saying too much leads to disaster.

⁴ Lazy people want a lot, but get nothing; if you work hard you'll be well rewarded.

⁵ Good people hate lies, but the wicked cause a stink and bring disgrace.

⁶ Goodness protects those who live right, but sin overcomes the wicked.

¹ A wise sonne will obey the instruction of his father: but a scorner will heare no rebuke.

² A man shall eate good things by the fruite of his mouth: but the soule of the trespassers shall suffer violence.

³ Hee that keepeth his mouth, keepeth his life: but he that openeth his lips, destruction shall be to him.

⁴ The sluggard lusteth, but his soule hath nought: but the soule of the diligent shall haue plentie.

⁵ A righteous man hateth lying wordes: but the wicked causeth slander and shame.

⁶ Righteousnesse preserueth the vpright of life: but wickednes ouerthroweth the sinner.

³ He that guardeth his mouth keepeth his life; but for him that openeth wide his lips there shall be ruin.

⁵ A righteous man hateth lying; but a wicked man behaveth vilely and shamefully.

⁶ Righteousness guardeth him that is upright in the way; but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.

⁴ The sluggard longeth in his soul, and there cometh nothing; but the soul of the diligent will be abundantly gratified.

⁵ The righteous hateth the word of falsehood; but the wicked bringeth shame and dishonor.

⁶ Righteousness keepeth him that is upright on his way; but wickedness perverteth the man of sin.

¹ A wise son is obedient to his father: But a disobedient son will be destroyed.

² A good man shall eat of the fruits of righteousness: But the lives of transgressors shall perish before their time.

⁴ A slow man will, and will not; but the soul of them that work shall be made fat.

⁵ A just or rightwise man shall loathe a false word; but a wicked man shameth, and shall be shamed.

⁶ Rightfulness or Rightwiseness keepeth the way of an innocent man; but wickedness deceiveth a sinner.

¹ A wise son is the teaching of the father; but he that is a scorner, heareth not, when he is reproved. (A wise sonlisteneth to his father’s teaching; but he who is a mocker, heareth not, when he is rebuked.)

² A man shall be filled with goods of the fruit of his mouth; but the soul of unpious men is wicked. (A good person shall be filled with things from the fruit of his mouth; but the souls of evil people be wicked.)

³ He that keepeth his mouth, keepeth his soul; but he that is unwary to speak, shall feel evils. (He who guardeth his mouth, keepeth his soul safe; but he who is careless when he speaketh, shall experience evil.)

⁴ A slow man will, and will not; but the soul of them that work shall be made fat. (A lazy person desireth, and desireth not; but those who do work shall prosper.)

⁵ A just man shall loathe a false word; but a wicked man shameth, and shall be shamed. (The righteous loathe a lie; but the wicked shame, and shall be shamed.)

⁶ Rightfulness keepeth (safe) the way of an innocent man; but wickedness deceiveth a sinner.

¹ A wise son — the instruction of a father, And a scorner — he hath not heard rebuke.

² From the fruit of the mouth a man eateth good, And the soul of the treacherous — violence.

³ Whoso is keeping his mouth, is keeping his soul, Whoso is opening wide his lips — ruin to him!

⁴ The soul of the slothful is desiring, and hath not. And the soul of the diligent is made fat.

⁵ A false word the righteous hateth, And the wicked causeth abhorrence, and is confounded.

⁶ Righteousness keepeth him who is perfect in the way, And wickedness overthroweth a sin offering.
