Proverbs 10:12-17 in English

¹² Hatred stirreth up strifes; But love covereth all transgressions.

¹³ In the lips of him that hath discernment wisdom is found; But a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.

¹⁴ Wise men lay up knowledge; But the mouth of the foolish is a present destruction.

¹⁵ The rich man’s wealth is his strong city: The destruction of the poor is their poverty.

¹⁶ The labor of the righteous tendeth to life; The increase of the wicked, to sin.

¹⁷ He is in the way of life that heedeth correction; But he that forsaketh reproof erreth.

¹² When we hate others, it causes quarrels, but if we love others, we forgive them for the wrong things that they do.

¹³ Those who have good sense say MTY what is wise, but people who do not have good sense must be punished.

¹⁴ Wise people continue to learn all that they can, but when foolish people speak, they soon cause trouble.

¹⁵ The wealth that rich people have protects them like a city is protected by a strong wall around it MET, but people who are poor suffer much because they have no one to help them.

¹⁶ If you are righteous, your reward will be a good life, but all that sinful people gain is to sin more.

¹⁷ Those who pay attention when others try to ◄correct them/teach them what they are doing that is wrong► will live ◄happily/for many years►; but those who reject being rebuked will not find the road to life (OR, cause others to go astray).

¹⁴ Wise people accumulate knowledge, but the chattering of stupid people is a prelude to disaster.

¹⁵ The wealth of the rich provides them protection, while the poverty of the poor ruins them.

¹⁶ If you do right you're rewarded with life, but if you're wicked all you gain is sin.

¹⁷ If you accept instruction, you're on the path to life, but if you reject correction you'll go astray.

¹³ In the lippes of him that hath vnderstanding wisdome is founde, and a rod shalbe for the backe of him that is destitute of wisedome.

¹⁴ Wise men hide knowing (or The wise store up knowledge); but the mouth of a fool is next to confusion.

¹⁵ The chattel of a rich man is the city of his strength; the dread of poor men is the neediness of them. (The substance of a rich man is his strong city; the fear of the poor is their own neediness.)

¹⁶ The work of a just man is to life; but the fruit of a wicked man is to sin. (The work of a good person serveth unto life; but the fruit of the wicked is sin.)

¹⁷ The way of life is to him that keepeth chastising; but he that forsaketh blamings, erreth. (The way of life is for him who receiveth discipline; but he who forsaketh rebukes, erreth.)

¹² Hatred awaketh contentions, And over all transgressions love covereth.

¹³ In the lips of the intelligent is wisdom found, And a rod is for the back of him who is lacking understanding.

¹⁴ The wise lay up knowledge, and the mouth of a fool is near ruin.

¹⁷ A traveller to life is he who is keeping instruction, And whoso is forsaking rebuke is erring.
