Philippians 4:10-14 in English

¹⁰ But I rejoice in the Lord greatly, that now at length ye have revived your thought for me; wherein ye did indeed take thought, but ye lacked opportunity.

¹¹ Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therein to be content.

¹² I know how to be abased, and I know also how to abound: in everything and in all things have I learned the secret both to be filled and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in want.

¹³ I can do all things in him that strengtheneth me.

¹⁴ Howbeit ye did well that ye had fellowship with my affliction.

¹⁰ But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity.

¹¹ Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

¹² I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

¹³ I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

¹⁴ Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction.

¹⁰ But I rejoice in the Lord greatly, that now at length ye have revived your thought for me; wherein ye did indeed take thought, but ye lacked opportunity.

¹¹ Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therein to be content.

¹⁰ I rejoice greatly and thank the Lord because now, after some time, by sending money to me you have once again shown that you are concerned about me EUP. Indeed, you were concerned about me all the time, but you had no opportunity to show that you were concerned about me.

¹¹ I am saying this not because I am concerned that I lack things that I need. In fact, I have learned to be content in whatever situation I am.

¹² Specifically, I know how to be content when I do not have what I need, and I know how to be content when I have plenty. I have learned how to be content in any and every situation DOU. Specifically, I have learned how to be content when I have enough to eat, and I have learned how to be content when I do not have enough to eat. I have learned how to be content when I have plenty DOU of what I need, and I have learned how to be content when I lack things.

¹³ I am able ◄to cope with/to handle► every situation because Christ gives me the strength to do that.

¹⁴ Nevertheless, you did very well by helping me (OR, giving me money) EUP while I have been suffering hardship.

¹⁰ But I rejoice in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your thought for me; in which you did indeed take thought, but you lacked opportunity.

¹¹ Not that I speak because of lack, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content in it.

¹² I know how to be humbled, and I also know how to abound. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret both to be filled and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in need.

¹³ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

¹⁴ However you did well that you shared in my affliction.

¹⁰ But I am very glad in the Lord that your care for me has come to life again; though you did in fact take thought for me, but you were not able to give effect to it.

¹¹ But I will not say anything about my needs, for I am able, wherever I am, to be dependent on myself.

¹² It is the same to me if I am looked down on or honoured; everywhere and in all things I have the secret of how to be full and how to go without food; how to have wealth and how to be in need.

¹³ I am able to do all things through him who gives me strength.

¹⁴ But you did well to have care for me in my need.

¹⁰ But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now however at length ye have revived your thinking of me, though surely ye did also think of me, but lacked opportunity.

¹¹ Not that I speak as regards privation, for as to me I have learnt in those circumstances in which I am, to be satisfied in myself.

¹² I know both how to be abased and I know how to abound. In everything and in all things I am initiated both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer privation.

¹³ I have strength for all things in him that gives me power.

¹⁴ But ye have done well in taking part in my affliction.

¹⁰ Now I rejoice in the Lord exceedingly, that now at length your thought for me hath flourished again, as you did also think; but you were busied.

¹¹ I speak not as it were for want. For I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, to be content therewith.

¹² I know both how to be brought low, and I know how to abound: (everywhere, and in all things I am instructed) both to be full, and to be hungry; both to abound, and to suffer need.

¹³ I can do all these things in him who strengtheneth me.

¹⁴ Nevertheless you have done well in communicating to my tribulation.

¹⁰ But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now once again you have revived your mindfulness on my behalf, inasmuch as indeed you were mindful, but you lacked opportunity.

¹¹ Not that I am speaking with respect to need, for I have learned to be content in whatever state I am.

¹² I know how to be brought low, and I know how to live in prosperity. In every place and in all circumstances I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in need.

¹³ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

¹⁴ Nevertheless you have done well that you shared in my affliction.

¹⁰ I rejoice in the Lord greatly that you have renewed your concern for me once again; of course you were concerned, just lacked the opportunity.

¹¹ I am not saying this because of lack, since I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.

¹² I know what it is to be restricted, and I know what it is to have an abundance; everywhere and in every way I have been initiated both into being well fed and into being hungry, both into having plenty and into having need.

¹³ I can handle anything through Christ who strengthens me.

¹⁴ Nevertheless you have done well in sharing with me in my trial.

¹⁰ I'm so happy in the Lord that you've at last thought about me again—realizing that you were concerned about me before but you couldn't do anything about it.

¹¹ I'm not talking about my own needs, because I've already learned to be satisfied in whatever situation I find myself.

¹² I'm used to having nothing, and I've experienced having plenty too. In every possible situation I've learned the secret of dealing with having plenty and going hungry, of being rich and of living in poverty:

¹³ I can do anything through him who makes me strong!

¹⁴ Even so it was good of you to share with me during my troubles.

¹⁰ Nowe I reioyce also in the Lord greatly, that nowe at the last your care for mee springeth afresh, wherein notwithstanding ye were careful, but yee lacked opportunitie.

¹¹ I speake not because of want: for I haue learned in whatsoeuer state I am, therewith to bee content.

¹² And I can be abased, and I can abounde: euery where in all things I am instructed, both to be full, and to be hungrie, and to abounde, and to haue want.

¹³ I am able to do al things through the helpe of Christ, which strengtheneth me.

¹⁴ Notwithstanding yee haue well done, that yee did communicate to mine affliction.

¹⁰ But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity.

¹² I know how to be abased, and I know also how to abound; in every thing and in all things I have been well taught, both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in want;

¹³ I can do all things in him who strengtheneth me.

¹⁴ Notwithstanding, ye did well in sharing with me in my distress.

¹⁰ It was a matter of great joy to me, as one in union with the Lord, that at length your interest in me had revived. The interest indeed you had, but not the opportunity.

¹¹ Do not think that I am saying this under the pressure of want. For I, however I am placed, have learnt to be independent of circumstances.

¹² I know how to face humble circumstances, and I know how to face prosperity. Into all and every human experience I have been initiated — into plenty and hunger, into prosperity and want.

¹³ I can do everything in the strength of him who makes me strong!

¹⁴ Yet you have acted nobly in sharing my troubles.

¹⁰ It was a matter of great joy to me, as one in union with the Lord, that at length your interest in me had revived. The interest indeed you had, but not the opportunity.

¹¹ Do not think that I am saying this under the pressure of want. For I, however I am placed, have learned to be independent of circumstances.

¹² I know how to face humble circumstances, and I know how to face prosperity. Into all and every human experience I have been initiated — into plenty and hunger, into prosperity and want.

¹³ I can do everything in the strength of him who makes me strong!

¹⁴ Yet you have acted nobly in sharing my troubles.

¹⁰ Now I will tell you how things are going with me here. I’m really happy, thanks to our leader, Jesus. I know you were worried about me here in jail and you wanted to send something to help me, but at first you couldn’t do it. Then you got a chance to send me some things, and this has made me happy. It shows that you are still thinking about me.

¹¹ I’m not saying this because I need anything. I have learned to be happy, no matter what happens to me.

¹² I know what it is like to need things and I know what it is like to have a lot of things. I have learned this secret, to be happy all the time no matter what happens. Sometimes I can eat plenty of food, and sometimes I go hungry. But it doesn’t matter, I can be happy anyway. Sometimes I have everything I need, and sometimes I have nothing. But it doesn’t matter, I can be happy anyway.

¹³ You see, Jesus Christ makes me strong, so I can do all these things.

¹⁴ And you have been very good to me. I have been getting trouble, but you remembered me and you helped me a lot.

¹⁰ I reioyse in the lorde greatly that now at the last ye are revived agayne to care for me in that wherein ye were also carefull but ye lacked oportunite.

¹¹ I speake not because of necessitie. For I have learned in whatsoever estate I am therewith to be content.

¹² I can both cast doune my silfe I can also excede. Every where and in all thynges I am instructed both to be full and to be hongry: to have plenty and to suffre nede.

¹³ I can do all thynges thorow the helpe of Christ which strengtheth me.

¹⁴ Not wistondynge ye have well done that ye bare parte with me in my tribvlacion.

¹⁰ I greatly rejoice in the Lord because now at last you have renewed your concern for me. You had indeed been concerned for me before, but there was no opportunity for you to help.

¹¹ I am not saying this because I am in need. For I have learned to be content in all circumstances.

¹² I know what it is to be poor, and I also know what it is to have plenty. In every way and in all things I have learned the secret of how to be well-fed or to be hungry, and how to have an abundance or to be in need.

¹³ I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

¹⁴ However, you did well to share with me in my difficulties.

¹⁰ But I rejoice in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your thought for me; in which you did indeed take thought, but you lacked opportunity.

¹³ For all things I have strength, in Christ's strengthening me;

¹⁴ but ye did well, having communicated with my tribulation;
