Philippians 3:16-21 in English

¹⁶ only, whereunto we have attained, by that same rule let us walk.

¹⁷ Brethren, be ye imitators together of me, and mark them that so walk even as ye have us for an ensample.

¹⁸ For many walk, of whom I told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:

¹⁹ whose end is perdition, whose god is the belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.

²⁰ For our citizenship is in heaven; whence also we wait for a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

²¹ who shall fashion anew the body of our humiliation, that it may be conformed to the body of his glory, according to the working whereby he is able even to subject all things unto himself.

¹⁶ Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

¹⁷ Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.

¹⁸ (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:

¹⁹ Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

²⁰ For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

²¹ Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

¹⁶ only, whereunto we have already attained, by that same rule let us walk.

¹⁶ What is important is that we must conduct our lives according to what God has already revealed to us.

¹⁷ My fellow believers, all of you should follow my example, and observe those people who act as I do, in order that you may imitate them also.

¹⁸ Keep in mind that there are many people who say that they believe in Christ, but who act in such a way that shows that they are opposed to the teaching about Christ dying on the cross MTY. I have told you about those people many times before, and now I am sad, even crying, as I tell you about them again.

¹⁹ God will severely punish them. The things their bodies desire MTY have become like gods to them MET. They are proud of the things they should be ashamed of. They think only about what unbelievers MTY think about.

²⁰ But remember that we are citizens of heaven. And we eagerly wait for our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, to return from there.

²¹ By the power that enables him to put everything under his own control, he will change our weak bodies to become like his glorious body.

¹⁶ Nevertheless, to the extent that we have already attained, let’s walk by the same rule. Let’s be of the same mind.

¹⁹ Whose end is destruction, whose god is the stomach, and whose glory is in their shame, whose minds are fixed on the things of the earth.

²⁰ For our country is in heaven; from where the Saviour for whom we are waiting will come, even the Lord Jesus Christ:

²¹ By whom this poor body of ours will be changed into the image of the body of his glory, in the measure of the working by which he is able to put all things under himself.

¹⁶ But whereto we have attained, let us walk in the same steps.

¹⁷ Be imitators all together of me, brethren, and fix your eyes on those walking thus as you have us for a model;

¹⁸ (for many walk of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:

¹⁹ whose end is destruction, whose god is the belly, and their glory in their shame, who mind earthly things:)

²⁰ for our commonwealth has its existence in the heavens, from which also we await the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour,

²¹ who shall transform our body of humiliation into conformity to his body of glory, according to the working of the power which he has even to subdue all things to himself.

¹⁶ Nevertheless whereunto we are come, that we be of the same mind, let us also continue in the same rule.

¹⁷ Be ye followers of me, brethren, and observe them who walk so as you have our model.

¹⁸ For many walk, of whom I have told you often (and now tell you weeping), that they are enemies of the cross of Christ;

¹⁹ Whose end is destruction; whose God is their belly; and whose glory is in their shame; who mind earthly things.

²⁰ But our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, our Lord Jesus Christ,

²¹ Who will reform the body of our lowness, made like to the body of his glory, according to the operation whereby also he is able to subdue all things unto himself.

¹⁶ Nevertheless, to what we have attained, let us walk by the same rule, being of the same mind.

¹⁷ Be fellow imitators of me, brothers, and look out for those walking this way, just as you have us for a pattern.

¹⁸ For many walk, of whom often I was speaking to you, and now even weeping I tell you, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:

¹⁹ whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame—who are mindful of earthly things.

²⁰ For our citizenship exists in heaven, from which also we eagerly await for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,

²¹ who will transform our lowly body, that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subject all things to Himself.

¹⁶ Only, in what we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind.

¹⁷ Brothers, join together in imitating me, and having us as a pattern take note of those who walk in the same way.

¹⁸ Because many are walking as enemies of the cross of Christ—of whom I told you often, and now tell you even with tears—

¹⁹ whose end is ruin, whose god is their stomach, and whose glory is in their shame; their mind is only on earthly things.

²⁰ But our citizenship is in Heaven, and it is from there that we eagerly await our Deliverer, Sovereign Jesus Christ;

²¹ who will transform the body of our humiliation so that it will be conformed to the body of His glory, according to the working by which He is indeed able to subject all things to Himself.

¹⁶ We just need to make sure that we follow what we already have understood.

¹⁷ My friends, copy my example as others do and take note of the way to behave since you have us as a model.

¹⁸ The way some people live makes them enemies of the cross of Christ—as I've often told you before and repeat again though it pains me so much I want to weep.

¹⁹ They will end up being completely lost, these people whose “god” is their physical desires and who are proud of what they should be ashamed of, thinking only about the things of this world.

²⁰ But our homeland is heaven, and we're waiting for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, to come from there too.

²¹ He will re-create our defective human bodies so that they will be made like his glorious body using the power by which he brings everything under his control.

¹⁶ Neuerthelesse, in that whereunto wee are come, let vs proceede by one rule, that wee may minde one thing.

¹⁷ Brethren, bee followers of mee, and looke on them, which walke so, as yee haue vs for an ensample.

¹⁸ For many walke, of whom I haue told you often, and nowe tell you weeping, that they are the enemies of the Crosse of Christ:

¹⁹ Whose ende is damnation, whose God is their bellie, and whose glorie is to their shame, which minde earthly things.

²⁰ But our conuersation is in heauen, from whence also we looke for the Sauiour, euen the Lord Iesus Christ,

²¹ Who shall change our vile bodie, that it may be fashioned like vnto his glorious body, according to the working, whereby hee is able euen to subdue all things vnto him selfe.

¹⁶ Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

¹⁶ This is the main thing for all of us. We started to learn about the way God wants us to live, so we have to keep on living his way and keep doing the things he has taught us to do. Don’t go back.

¹⁷ My friends, you know how I live, so you all have to try to live the same way. And look around at each other, and see the way you all live. Notice those people that live the same way as I live, and you do the same.

¹⁸ You see, there are a lot of people that don’t live the right way. I have often told you this before, and now I’m telling you the same thing again. When I think about it, I get so sad that I cry. There are people that reckon they are Christians, but they are really enemies of Jesus Christ. They live in a way that shows they are against the good things that Jesus died for on the cross.

¹⁹ They don’t listen to God but they listen to their own bodies, and do bad things so that their bodies feel good. They do those bad things but they aren’t ashamed. Instead, they think they are smart. They only think about the things that belong to this world. And in the end God will kill them in hell.

²⁰ But we belong to heaven. That is our real home. We are waiting for our leader, Jesus Christ, to come back from heaven. He is the one that saves us, and we really want him to come back.

²¹ He will change these weak bodies that we have now, and make them into new bodies. They will be like the wonderful body that he has now. Jesus can do this because he is really powerful. He is so powerful that he can be the boss over everything.

¹⁶ Neverthelesse in that wher vnto we are come let vs procede by one rule that we maye be of one acorde.

¹⁷ Brethren be folowers of and me loke on them which walke even so as ye have vs for an ensample.

¹⁸ For many walke (of whom I have tolde you often and now tell you wepynge) that they are the enemyes of the crosse of Christ

¹⁹ whose ende is dampnacion whose God is their bely and whose glory is to their shame which are worldely mynded.

²⁰ But oure conversacion is in heven from whence we loke for a saveour enen the lorde Iesus Christ

²¹ which shall chaunge oure vile bodies that they maye be fassioned lyke vnto his glorious body acordinge to the workynge wherby he is able to subdue all thinges vnto hym silfe.

¹⁶ However, whatever we have reached, let us hold on to it.

¹⁷ Be imitators of me, brothers. Closely watch those who are walking by the example that you have in us.

¹⁸ Many are walking—those about whom I have often told you, and now I am telling you with tears—as enemies of the cross of Christ.

¹⁹ Their end is destruction. For their god is their stomach, and their pride is in their shame. They think about earthly things.

²⁰ But our citizenship is in heaven, from where we also wait for a savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

²¹ He will transform our lowly bodies into bodies formed like his glorious body, formed by the might of his power to subject all things to himself.

¹⁹ whose end is death, whose god is the womb, and the glory in the confusion of them, that savour or that understand earthly things.

²⁰ But our living is in heavens or in heaven; from whence also we abide the Saviour our Lord Jesus Christ,

²¹ which shall reform the body of our meekness, that is made like or configured to the body of his clearness, by the working by which he may also make all things subject to him.

¹⁶ Nevertheless to what thing we have come, (so) that we understand the same thing, and that we perfectly dwell in the same rule.

¹⁷ Brethren, be ye my followers, and wait ye (on) them that walk so, as ye have our form. (Brothers, follow me, and watch those who walk so, so that ye have our form.)

¹⁸ For many walk, which I have said oft to you, but now I weeping say, them, the enemies of Christ’s cross (or the enemies of the Messiah’s cross),

¹⁹ whose end is death, whose god is the womb, and the glory in the confusion of them, that savour or that understand earthly things.

²⁰ But our living is in (the) heavens or Forsooth our living is in heaven; from whence also we abide (or we wait for) the Saviour our Lord Jesus Christ,

²¹ which shall reform the body of our meekness, that is made like or (that is) configured to the body of his clearness (or of his glory), by the working by which he may also make all things subject to him.

¹⁶ but to what we have come — by the same rule walk, the same thing think;

¹⁷ become followers together of me, brethren, and observe those thus walking, according as ye have us — a pattern;

¹⁸ for many walk of whom many times I told you — and now also weeping tell — the enemies of the cross of the Christ!

¹⁹ whose end is destruction, whose god is the belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who the things on earth are minding.

²⁰ For our citizenship is in the heavens, whence also a Saviour we await — the Lord Jesus Christ —

²¹ who shall transform the body of our humiliation to its becoming conformed to the body of his glory, according to the working of his power, even to subject to himself the all things.
