Leviticus 25:2-4

²Speak with the children of Israel, and say to them: When you have entered into the land that I will give you, the land shall have rest by an intermission (shemet shemittha) before the Lord.

³Six years thou shalt sow thy field, and six years prune thy vineyard, and gather in its fruit;

⁴But in the seventh year the land shall have a respite of rest (neach shemittha), a respite before the Lord; thou shalt not sow thy field nor prune thy vineyard.
