John 7:1-9 in English

¹ And after these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Judæa, because the Jews sought to kill him.

² Now the feast of the Jews, the feast of tabernacles, was at hand.

³ His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judæa, that thy disciples also may behold thy works which thou doest.

⁴ For no man doeth anything in secret, and himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou doest these things, manifest thyself to the world.

⁵ For even his brethren did not believe on him.

⁶ Jesus therefore saith unto them, My time is not yet come; but your time is always ready.

⁷ The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that its works are evil.

⁸ Go ye up unto the feast: I go not up unto this feast; because my time is not yet fulfilled.

⁹ And having said these things unto them, he abode still in Galilee.

¹ After these things, Jesus walked in Galilee, for He didn’t want to walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill Him.

² Now the Jews’ Feast of Tabernacles was near.

³ Therefore His brothers told Him, “Leave here and go to Judea, so that Your disciples will see the works that You are doing, too.

⁴ Nobody does anything in secret while he seeks to be known openly. If You do these things, show Yourself to the world.”

⁵ For even His brothers didn’t believe in Him.

⁶ Then Jesus told them, “My time hasn’t yet come, but your time is always right.

⁷ The world can’t hate you, but it hates me because I testify that its works are evil.

⁸ Go up to this feast yourselves. I’m not going up to this feast, yet, for my time hasn’t yet fully come.”

⁹ Having said these things to them, He stayed in Galilee.

¹ After those things happened, Jesus went around in Galilee province. He did not want to travel in Judea province, because he knew that the Jewish leaders there were wanting to kill him.

² But when the time of the Jewish celebration called ❛Celebration of Living in Shelters❜ was near,

³ Jesus' younger brothers said to him, “ Since many people here have left you, you should leave and go to Judea province and perform some miracles there, so that your disciples may see them!

⁴ No one who wants to become famous does things secretly. You say you are doing these miracles, so do some miracles there so that everyone MTY can see them!”

⁵ They said this critically, because even though they were his own younger brothers, they did not believe he was from God.

⁶ So Jesus said to them, “It is not yet time for me MTY to go to the celebration. For you, any time is right to go to the celebration.

⁷ The people MTY who ◄ do not believe in me/do not belong to God► cannot hate you, but they hate me because I tell them that what they are doing is evil.

⁸ You (pl) go ahead to the celebration. I am not going up to Jerusalem to the celebration yet, because now is not the right time for me to go.”

⁹ After he said that, Jesus stayed a little longer in Galilee.

¹ After these things, Jesus was walking in Galilee, for he wouldn’t walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill him.

³ His brothers therefore said to him, “Depart from here and go into Judea, that your disciples also may see your works which you do.

¹ After this, Jesus went from place to place in Galilee. He did not go about in Judaea, because the Jews were looking for a chance to put him to death.

² But the feast of the Jews, the feast of tents, was near.

³ So his brothers said to him, Go away from here into Judaea so that your disciples may see the works which you do.

⁴ Because no man does things secretly if he has a desire that men may have knowledge of him. If you do these things, let yourself be seen by all men.

⁵ For even his brothers had no belief in him.

⁶ Jesus said to them, My time is still to come, but any time is good for you.

⁷ It is not possible for you to be hated by the world; but I am hated by it, because I give witness that what it does is evil.

⁸ Go you up to the feast: I am not going up now to the feast because my time has not fully come.

⁹ Having said these things to them, he still kept in Galilee.

¹ And after these things Jesus walked in Galilee, for he would not walk in Judaea, because the Jews sought to kill him.

² Now the tabernacles, the feast of the Jews, was near.

³ His brethren therefore said to him, Remove hence and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see thy works which thou doest;

⁴ for no one does anything in secret and himself seeks to be known in public. If thou doest these things, manifest thyself to the world:

⁵ for neither did his brethren believe on him.

⁶ Jesus therefore says to them, My time is not yet come, but your time is always ready.

⁷ The world cannot hate you, but me it hates, because I bear witness concerning it that its works are evil.

⁸ Ye, go ye up to this feast. I go not up to this feast, for my time is not yet fulfilled.

⁹ Having said these things to them he abode in Galilee.

⁹ When He had said these things to them, He remained in Galilee.

¹ After these things Jesus continued to move about in Galilee, since He did not wish to move about in Judea because the Jews were wanting to kill Him.

² Now the Jews' Feast of Tabernacles was near.

³ So His brothers said to Him: “Leave here and go up into Judea so your disciples also may see the works that you are doing,

⁴ because no one does anything in secret while he actually wants to be in evidence. Since you are doing these things, show yourself to the world!”

⁵ For not even His brothers were believing into Him.

⁶ So Jesus says to them: “My time is not here yet, but your time is always available.

⁷ The world cannot hate you, but does hate me, because I testify about it that its works are malignant.

⁸ You guys go up to this feast; I am not going up yet to this feast, because my time has not yet fully come.”

⁹ So upon saying these things to them He stayed on in Galilee.

¹ After this, Jesus spent his time going from place to place in Galilee. He did not want to do so in Judea because the Jews were out to kill him.

² But as it was almost time for the Jewish festival of the Tabernacles,

³ his brothers told him, “You ought to leave and go to Judea so your followers will be able to see what miracles you can do.

⁴ No one who wants to be famous keeps what they do hidden. If you can do such miracles, then show yourself to the world!”

⁵ For even his own brothers really didn't believe in him.

⁶ Jesus told them, “This is not my time to go, not yet; but you can go whenever you want, for any time's the right time for you.

⁷ The world has no reason to hate you, but it does hate me, because I make it clear that its ways are evil.

⁸ You go on to the festival. I'm not going to this festival because this is not the right time for me, not yet.”

⁹ After saying this he stayed behind in Galilee.

¹ After these things, Iesus walked in Galile, and woulde not walke in Iudea: for the Iewes sought to kill him.

² Nowe the Iewes feast of the Tabernacles was at hande.

³ His brethren therefore sayde vnto him, Depart hence, and goe into Iudea, that thy disciples may see thy woorkes that thou doest.

⁴ For there is no man that doeth any thing secretely, and hee himselfe seeketh to be famous. If thou doest these things, shewe thy selfe to the worlde.

⁵ For as yet his brethren beleeued not in him.

⁶ Then Iesus saide vnto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway readie.

⁷ The world can not hate you: but me it hateth, because I testifie of it, that the workes thereof are euill.

⁸ Go ye vp vnto this feast: I wil not go vp yet vnto this feast: for my time is not yet fulfilled.

³ His brothers therefore said to him, “Depart from here, and go into Judea Praise, that your disciples also may see your works which you do.

⁴ For no one does anything in secret, and himself seeks to be known openly. If you do these things, reveal yourself to the world.”

⁵ For even his brothers didn’t believe in him.

³ His brethren therfore sayde vnto him: get ye hence and go into Iewry that thy disciples maye se thy workes that thou doest.

⁴ For ther is no man that doeth eny thing secretly and he him selfe seketh to be knowen. Yf thou do soche thinges shewe thy selfe to the worlde.

⁵ For as yet his brethren beleved not in him.

⁶ Then Iesus sayd vnto them: My tyme is not yet come youre tyme is all waye redy.

⁷ The worlde cannot hate you. Me it hateth: because I testify of it that the workes of it are evyll.

⁸ Go ye vp vnto this feast. I will not go vp yet vnto this feast for my tyme is not yet full come.

⁹ These wordes he sayde vnto them and abode still in Galile.

³ His brothers therefore said to him, “Leave this place and go to Judea, so that your disciples also may see the works that you do.

⁴ for no man doeth anything in huddles, and himself seeketh to be open, +or forsooth no man doeth anything in hid place, or privy, and he seeketh to be in open. If thou doest these things, show thyself to the world.

² And there was nigh a feast day of the Jews, Scenopegia, that is, a feast of tabernacles, (or the Festival of Tabernacles).

³ And his brethren said to him, Pass from hence (or Go forth from here), and go into Judea, (so) that also thy disciples see thy works that thou doest;

⁴ for no man doeth anything in huddles (or in secret), and himself seeketh to be (out in the) open, +or forsooth no man doeth anything in hid place, or (in) privy, (or for no one doeth anything in a hidden place, or in private), and he seeketh to be (out) in (the) open. If thou doest these things, show thyself to the world.

⁵ For neither his brethren believed in him.

⁶ Therefore Jesus saith to them, My time came not yet, but your time is (for)evermore ready. (My hour hath not yet come, or It is not yet my time, but it is always your time.)

⁷ The world may not hate you, soothly it hateth me; for I bear witnessing thereof (or for I testify to it), that the works of it be evil.

⁸ Go ye up to this feast day, but I shall not go up to this feast day, for my time is not yet fulfilled, or full-filled, (or for my time is not yet filled full, or hath not yet fully come to fruition).

⁹ When he had said these things, he dwelt in Galilee.

¹ Aftir these thingis Jhesus walkide in to Galilee, for he wolde not walke in to Judee, for the Jewis souyten to sle hym.

² And ther was neiy a feeste dai of the Jewis, Senofegia.

³ And hise britheren seiden to hym, Passe fro hennus, and go in to Judee, that also thi disciplis seen thi werkis that thou doist;

⁴ for no man doith ony thing in hiddlis, and hym silf sekith to be opyn. If thou doist these thingis, schewe thi silf to the world.

⁵ For nether hise britheren bileueden in hym.

⁶ Therfor Jhesus seith to hem, My tyme cam not yit, but youre tyme is euermore redi.

⁷ The world may not hate you, sothely it hatith me; for Y bere witnessyng therof, that the werkis of it ben yuele.

⁸ Go ye vp to this feeste dai, but Y schal not go vp to this feeste dai, for my tyme is not yit fulfillid.

⁹ Whanne he hadde seid these thingis, he dwelte in Galilee.

¹ And Jesus was walking after these things in Galilee, for he did not wish to walk in Judea, because the Jews were seeking to kill him,

² and the feast of the Jews was nigh — that of tabernacles —

³ his brethren, therefore, said unto him, 'Remove hence, and go away to Judea, that thy disciples also may behold thy works that thou dost;

⁴ for no one in secret doth anything, and himself seeketh to be in public; if thou dost these things — manifest thyself to the world;'

⁵ for not even were his brethren believing in him.

⁷ the world is not able to hate you, but me it doth hate, because I testify concerning it that its works are evil.
