² There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples.

³ Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also come with thee. They went forth, and entered into the boat; and that night they took nothing.

⁴ But when day was now breaking, Jesus stood on the beach: yet the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.

⁵ Jesus therefore saith unto them, Children, have ye aught to eat? They answered him, No.

⁶ And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.

⁷ That disciple therefore whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. So when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his coat about him (for he was naked), and cast himself into the sea.

⁸ But the other disciples came in the little boat (for they were not far from the land, but about two hundred cubits off), dragging the net full of fishes.

⁹ So when they got out upon the land, they see a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread.

¹⁰ Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now taken.

¹¹ Simon Peter therefore went up, and drew the net to land, full of great fishes, a hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, the net was not rent.

¹² Jesus saith unto them, Come and break your fast. And none of the disciples durst inquire of him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.

¹³ Jesus cometh, and taketh the bread, and giveth them, and the fish likewise.

¹⁴ This is now the third time that Jesus was manifested to the disciples, after that he was risen from the dead.

¹⁵ So when they had broken their fast, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of John, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.

¹⁶ He saith to him again a second time, Simon, son of John, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Tend my sheep.

¹⁷ He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of John, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

¹⁸ Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.

¹⁹ Now this he spake, signifying by what manner of death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me.

²⁰ Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; who also leaned back on his breast at the supper, and said, Lord, who is he that betrayeth thee?

² Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples were together.

³ Simon Peter told them, “I’m going fishing.” They said to him, “We’ll go with you, too.” They went out immediately and got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing.

⁴ Now when the morning had come, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples didn’t know that it was Jesus.

⁵ Therefore Jesus asked them, “Children, you don’t have any fish, do you?” “No,” they answered Him.

⁶ He told them, “Cast the net on the right-hand side of the boat, and you’ll find some.” So, they cast the net, and then they were unable to haul it in because of the great number of fish.

⁷ Therefore that disciple who Jesus sincerely loved told Peter, “It’s the Lord!” So when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put his outer garment on (for he had taken it off), and threw himself into the sea.

⁸ The other disciples came in the little boat, for they weren’t far from land, but about two hundred cubits away, dragging the net full of fish.

⁹ So when they came ashore, they saw a charcoal fire already burning, with fish and bread placed on it.

¹⁰ Jesus told them, “Bring some of the fish that you just caught.”

¹¹ Simon Peter went up and dragged the net to land, full of one hundred fifty-three large fish. Although there were so many, the net wasn’t torn.

¹² Jesus said to them, “Come and eat breakfast.” Yet none of the disciples dared ask Him, “Who are You?” They knew that it was the Lord.

¹³ Jesus then came and took the bread and gave it to them, and likewise the fish.

¹⁴ This is now the third time that Jesus showed Himself to His disciples after He was raised from the dead.

¹⁵ When they had eaten breakfast, Jesus asked Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you sincerely love me more than these?” He answered, “Yes, Lord. You know that I love You.” “Feed my lambs,” Jesus replied.

¹⁶ He asked him a second time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you sincerely love me?” He answered, “Yes, Lord. You know that I love You.” “Shepherd my sheep,” He replied.

¹⁷ He asked the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because He asked him the third time, “Do you love me?” He answered, “Lord, You know everything. You know that I love You.” “Feed My sheep,” Jesus replied.

¹⁸ “Most assuredly, I tell you, when you were younger, you dressed yourself and walked where you wanted to; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and carry you where you don’t want to go.”

¹⁹ He said this to indicate what kind of death he would glorify God with. When He had said this, He told Peter, “Follow me!”

²⁰ Then Peter, turning around, saw a disciple following. This was the disciple who Jesus sincerely loved, the one who had also leaned on Jesus’ breast at the supper and asked, “Lord, who is going to betray You?”

¹⁰ Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now caught.

¹¹ Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken.

¹² Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.

⁴ Early the next morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but we did not know that it was Jesus.

⁵ He called out to us, “My friends, you have not caught any fish, have you?” We answered, “You are correct, we have not caught any.”

⁶ He said to us, “Throw your net out from the right-hand side of the boat! Then you will find some!” We did that, and we caught so many fish in the net that we were unable to pull the net into the boat!

⁷ But I knew that it was Jesus, so I said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” Peter had taken off his cloak while he was working, but as soon as he heard me say “It is the Lord!” he wrapped his cloak around himself and jumped into the water and swam to shore.

⁸ The rest of us came to the shore in the boat, pulling the net full of fish. We were not far from shore, only about a hundred yards/meters.

⁹ When we got to the shore, we saw that there was a fire of burning coals there, with a large fish on the fire, and some buns.

¹⁰ Jesus said to us, “Bring some of the fish that you have just caught!”

¹¹ Simon Peter got in the boat and dragged the net to the shore. It was full of large fish. There were 153 of them! But in spite of there being so many fish, the net was not torn.

¹² Jesus said to us, “Come and eat some breakfast!” None of us dared to ask him, “Who are you?” because we knew that it was the Lord.

¹³ Jesus took the buns and gave them to us. He did the same with the fish.

¹⁴ That was the third time that Jesus appeared to us disciples after God caused him to become alive again after he died.

¹⁵ When we had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “John's son Simon, do you love me more than these other disciples do?” Peter said to him, “Yes, Lord, you know that you are dear to me (OR, that I love you).” Jesus said, “Give to those who belong to me what they need spiritually, like MET a shepherd provides food for his lambs.”

¹⁶ Jesus said to him again, “John's son Simon, do you love me?” He replied, “Yes, Lord, you know that you are dear to me (OR, that I love you).” Jesus said to him, “Take care of those who belong to me, like MET a shepherd takes care of his sheep.”

¹⁷ Jesus said to him a third time, “John's son Simon, am I really dear to you (OR, do you really love me)?” Peter was grieved because Jesus asked him this three times, and because the third time he changed the question. He said, “Lord, you know everything. You know that you are dear to me (OR, that I love you).” Jesus said, “Give to those who belong to me what they need spiritually, as MET a shepherd provides food for his sheep.

¹⁸ Now listen to this carefully: When you were young, you put your clothes on by yourself, and you went wherever you wanted to go. But when you are old, you will stretch out your arms, and someone will fasten them with a rope and will lead you to a place where you do not want to go.”

¹⁹ Jesus said this to indicate how Peter would die ◄ violently/on a cross► in order to honor God. Then Jesus said to him, “Keep being my faithful disciple until you die.”

²⁰ Peter turned around and saw that I was following them. I was the one who leaned close to Jesus during the Passover meal and said, “Lord, who is going to enable your enemies to seize you?”

¹⁵ Then when they had taken food, Jesus said to Simon Peter, Simon, son of John, is your love for me greater than the love of these others? He said to him, Yes, Lord; you are certain of my love for you. He said to him, Then give my lambs food.

¹⁶ Again, a second time, he said to him, Simon, son of John, have you any love for me? Yes, Lord, he said, you are certain of my love for you. Then take care of my sheep, said Jesus.

¹⁷ He said to him a third time, Simon, son of John, am I dear to you? Now Peter was troubled in his heart because he put the question a third time, Am I dear to you? And he said to him, Lord, you have knowledge of all things; you see that you are dear to me. Jesus said to him, Then give my sheep food.

¹⁸ Truly I say to you, When you were young, you made yourself ready and went wherever you had a desire to go: but when you are old, you will put out your hands and another will make you ready, and you will be taken where you have no desire to go.

¹⁹ Now this he said, pointing out the sort of death by which he would give God glory. And after saying this, he said to him, Come after me.

² There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael who was of Cana of Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples.

³ Simon Peter says to them, I go to fish. They say to him, We also come with thee. They went forth, and went on board, and that night took nothing.

⁴ And early morn already breaking, Jesus stood on the shore; the disciples however did not know that it was Jesus.

⁵ Jesus therefore says to them, Children, have ye anything to eat? They answered him, No.

⁶ And he said to them, Cast the net at the right side of the ship and ye will find. They cast therefore, and they could no longer draw it, from the multitude of fishes.

⁷ That disciple therefore whom Jesus loved says to Peter, It is the Lord. Simon Peter therefore, having heard that it was the Lord, girded his overcoat on him (for he was naked), and cast himself into the sea;

⁸ and the other disciples came in the small boat, for they were not far from the land, but somewhere about two hundred cubits, dragging the net of fishes.

⁹ When therefore they went out on the land, they see a fire of coals there, and fish laid on it, and bread.

¹⁰ Jesus says to them, Bring of the fishes which ye have now taken.

¹¹ Simon Peter went up and drew the net to the land full of great fishes, a hundred and fifty-three; and though there were so many, the net was not rent.

¹² Jesus says to them, Come and dine. But none of the disciples dared inquire of him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.

¹³ Jesus comes and takes the bread and gives it to them, and the fish in like manner.

¹⁴ This is already the third time that Jesus had been manifested to the disciples, being risen from among the dead.

¹⁵ When therefore they had dined, Jesus says to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He says to him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I am attached to thee. He says to him, Feed my lambs.

¹⁶ He says to him again a second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He says to him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I am attached to thee. He says to him, Shepherd my sheep.

¹⁷ He says to him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, art thou attached to me? Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, Art thou attached to me? and said to him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I am attached to thee. Jesus says to him, Feed my sheep.

¹⁸ Verily, verily, I say to thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst where thou desiredst; but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and bring thee where thou dost not desire.

¹⁹ But he said this signifying by what death he should glorify God. And having said this, he says to him, Follow me.

²⁰ Peter, turning round, sees the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also leaned at supper on his breast, and said, Lord, who is it that delivers thee up?

⁷ Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it), and he threw himself into the sea.

⁸ But the other disciples came in the little boat (for they were not far from the land, but about two hundred cubits), dragging the net with fish.

⁹ Then as they got off onto the land, they saw a charcoal fire laid there, and fish placed on it, and bread.

¹⁰ Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish which you have just caught.”

¹¹ Simon Peter went up and hauled the net onto the land, full of large fish, one hundred and fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not torn.

¹² Jesus said to them, “Come, eat breakfast.” Yet none of the disciples dared ask Him, “Who are You?”—knowing that it was the Lord.

¹³ Jesus then came and took the bread and gave it to them, and likewise the fish.

¹⁴ This was now the third time Jesus was manifested to His disciples, having been raised from the dead.

¹⁵ So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I care for You.” He said to him, “Feed My lambs.”

¹⁸ Most assuredly I say to you, when you were younger, you used to dress yourself and used to walk where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and will carry you where you do not wish.”

¹⁹ But this He said, signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, “Follow Me.”

²⁰ Then Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also had reclined on His chest at the supper, and said, “Lord, who is the one who betrays You?”

⁸ But the other disciples came in the little boat dragging the net with the fish (for they were not far from the land, but about 100 yards).

⁹ Then, as they stepped onto the land they saw a charcoal fire in place with fish lying on it, and bread.

¹⁰ Jesus says to them, “Bring some of the fish that you have just caught.”

¹¹ Simon Peter got up and dragged the net onto the land, full of one hundred and fifty-three large fish !; and although being so many, the net was not torn.

¹² Jesus says to them, “Come have breakfast!” Well not one of the disciples dared to ask Him, “Who are you?”—knowing that it was the Lord.

¹⁷ The third time He says to him, “Simon, son of Jonah, are you fond of me?” Peter was grieved in that the third time He said to him, “Are you fond of me?” and said to Him: “Lord, you know all things. You know that I'm fond of you!” Jesus says to him: “Feed my sheep.

¹⁸ Most assuredly I say to you, when you were younger you used to get dressed and walk where you wished; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands and another will dress you and carry you where you do not wish.”

¹⁹ (He said this to indicate the kind of death by which he would glorify God.) And upon saying that He says to him, “Follow me!”

²⁰ But turning around Peter sees the disciple whom Jesus loved following (that is the one who reclined on His chest at the supper and said, “Lord, who is the one who is betraying you?”).

⁸ The other disciples followed in the boat, pulling the net full of fish, because they were not far from the shore, only about a hundred yards.

⁹ Once they'd landed they saw a fire with fish cooking on it, and some bread.

¹⁰ Jesus told them, “Bring some of the fish you've just caught.”

¹¹ Simon Peter went aboard and pulled the net full of fish ashore. There were 153 large fish, yet even so the net hadn't torn.

¹² “Come and eat some breakfast,” Jesus said to them. None of the disciples was brave enough to ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord.

¹³ Jesus took the bread and gave it to them and the fish as well.

¹⁴ This was the third time Jesus had appeared to the disciples after being raised from the dead.

¹⁷ “Look after my sheep,” Jesus said to him. “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” he asked a third time. Peter was saddened that Jesus had asked him for the third time if he loved him. “Lord, you know everything. You know I love you,” Peter told him. “Take care of my sheep,” said Jesus.

¹⁸ “I tell you the truth,” said Jesus, “when you were young, you dressed yourself and went wherever you wanted. But when you're old, you'll hold out your hands and someone will dress you and take you where you don't want to go.”

¹⁹ Jesus said this to explain the kind of death by which he would glorify God. Then he said to Peter, “Follow me.”

²⁰ As Peter turned round, he saw the disciple Jesus loved following them, the one who had leaned over to Jesus during the supper and asked, “Lord, who is going to betray you?”

¹⁷ He said vnto him the third time, Simon the sonne of Iona, louest thou me? Peter was sorie because he said to him the third time, Louest thou me? and said vnto him, Lord, thou knowest all things: thou knowest that I loue thee. Iesus saide vnto him, Feede my sheepe.

⁹ When they had come ashore, they found a charcoal fire ready, with some fish already on it, and some bread as well.

¹⁰ “Bring some of the fish which you have just caught,” said Jesus.

¹¹ So Simon Peter got into the boat and hauled the net ashore full of large fish, a hundred and fifty-three of them; and yet, although there were so many, the net had not been torn.

¹⁶ Then, a second time, Jesus asked, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” “Yes, Master,” he answered, “you know that I am your friend.” “Tend my sheep,” said Jesus.

¹⁷ The third time, Jesus said to him, “Simon, son of John, are you my friend?” Peter was hurt at his third question being ‘Are you my friend?’; and exclaimed, “Master, you know everything! You can tell that I am your friend.” “Feed my sheep,” said Jesus.

¹⁸ “In truth I tell you,” he continued, “when you were young, you used to put on your own clothes, and walk wherever you wished; but, when you have grown old, you will have to stretch out your hands, while someone else puts on your clothes, and takes you where you do not wish.”

¹⁹ Jesus said this to show the death by which Peter was to honour God, and then he added, “Follow me.”

²⁰ Peter turned around, and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following — the one who at the supper leant back on the Master's shoulder, and asked him who it was who would betray him.

⁸ But the rest of the disciples came in the boat (for they were only about a hundred yards from shore), dragging the net full of fish.

⁹ When they had come ashore, they found a charcoal fire ready, with some fish already on it, and some bread as well.

¹⁰ “Bring some of the fish which you have just caught,” said Jesus.

¹¹ So Simon Peter got into the boat and hauled the net ashore full of large fish, a hundred and fifty-three of them; and yet, although there were so many, the net had not been torn.

¹² “Come and have breakfast.”, Jesus said. None of the disciples dared ask him who he was, because they knew it was the Master.

¹⁷ The third time, Jesus said to him, “Simon, son of John, are you my friend?” Peter was hurt at his third question being ‘Are you my friend?’; and exclaimed, “Master, you know everything! You can tell that I am your friend.” “Feed my sheep,” said Jesus.

¹⁸ “In truth I tell you,” he continued, “when you were young, you used to put on your own clothes, and walk wherever you wished; but, when you have grown old, you will have to stretch out your hands, while someone else puts on your clothes, and takes you where you do not wish.”

¹⁹ Jesus said this to show the death by which Peter was to honor God, and then he added, “Follow me.”

²⁰ Peter turned around, and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following — the one who at the supper leant back on the Master's shoulder, and asked him who it was who would betray him.

⁶ He said to them, Put or Send ye the net into the right half of the rowing, and ye shall find. And they putted or sent the net; and then they might not draw it for multitude of fishes.

⁷ Therefore that disciple, whom Jesus loved, said to Peter, It is the Lord. Simon Peter, when he had heard that it is the Lord, girt him with a coat, for he was naked, and went into the sea.

⁸ But the other disciples came by boat, for they were not far from the land, but as a two hundred cubits or as it were two hundred cubits, drawing the net of fishes.

⁹ And as they came down into the land, they saw coals lying, and fish laid on, and bread.

¹⁰ Jesus saith to them, Bring ye of the fishes, which ye have taken now.

¹¹ Simon Peter went up, and drew the net into the land, full of great fishes, an hundred fifty and three; and when they were so many, the net was not broken.

¹² Jesus saith to them, Come ye, and eat ye. And no man of them that sat at the meat, durst ask him, Who art thou, witting that it is the Lord.

¹³ And Jesus came, and took bread, and gave to them, and fish also.

¹⁴ Now this is the third time Jesus was showed to his disciples, when he had risen again from death.

¹⁵ And when they had eaten, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon of John, lovest thou me more than these? He saith to him, Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith to him, Feed thou my lambs.

¹⁶ Again he saith to him, Simon of John, lovest thou me? He saith to him, Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. He saith to him, Feed thou my lambs.

¹⁷ He saith to him the third time, Simon of John, lovest thou me? Peter was heavy, or sorry, for he said to him the third time, Lovest thou me, and he saith to him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith to him, Feed my sheep.

¹⁸ Truly, truly, I say to thee, when thou were younger, thou girdedest thee, and wanderedest where thou wouldest; but when thou shalt wax older, thou shalt hold forth thine hands, and another shall gird thee, and shall lead thee whither thou wilt not.

¹⁹ He said this thing, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had said these things, he saith to him, Pursue thou me.

²⁰ Peter turned, and saw that disciple pursuing, whom Jesus loved, which also rested in the supper on his breast, and said to him, Lord, who is it, that shall betray thee?

² There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas, that is said Didymus (or who is called the Twin), and Nathanael, that was of the Cana of Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and twain other of his disciples (or and two other disciples of Jesus).

³ Simon Peter saith to them, I (shall) go to fish. They say to him, And we (shall) come with thee. And they went out, and went into a boat. And in that night they took nothing.

⁴ But when the morrow was come, Jesus stood in the brink, (or But early the next morning, Jesus stood on the shore); nevertheless the disciples knew not, that it was Jesus.

⁵ Therefore Jesus saith to them, Children, whether ye have any supping thing? They answered to him, Nay.

¹⁷ He saith to him the third time, Simon of John (or Simon the son of John), lovest thou me? Peter was heavy, or sorry, (or was grieved), for he said to him the third time, Lovest thou me, and he saith to him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith to him, Feed my sheep (or Feed my female sheep).

²⁰ Peter turned, and saw that disciple (pur)suing, whom Jesus loved, which also rested in the supper on his breast, and said to him, Lord, who is it, that shall betray thee? (Peter turned, and saw that disciple following, whom Jesus loved, who had sat close beside him at the supper, and had asked him, Lord, who is it, that shall betray thee?)

² And he schewide him thus. There weren togidere Symount Petre, and Thomas, that is seid Didimus, and Nathanael, that was of the Cane of Galilee, and the sones of Zebedee, and tweyne othere of hise disciplis.

³ Symount Petre seith to hem, Y go to fische. Thei seyn to hym, And we comen with thee. And `thei wenten out, `and wenten in to a boot. And in that niyt thei token no thing.

⁴ But whanne the morewe was comun, Jhesus stood in the brenke; netheles the disciplis knewen not, that it was Jhesus.

⁵ Therfor Jhesus seith to hem, Children, whethir ye han ony souping thing? Thei answeriden to hym, Nay. He seide to hem,

⁷ Therfor thilke disciple, whom Jhesus louede, seide to Petre, It is the Lord. Symount Petre, whanne he hadde herd that it is the Lord, girte hym with a coote, for he was nakid, and wente in to the see.

⁸ But the othere disciplis camen bi boot, for thei weren not fer fro the lond, but as a two hundrid cubitis, drawinge the nett of fischis.

⁹ And as thei camen doun in to the lond, thei sayn coolis liynge, and a fisch leid on, and breed.

¹⁰ Jhesus seith to hem, Bringe ye of the fyschis, whiche ye han takun now.

¹¹ Symount Petre wente vp, and drowy the nett in to the lond, ful of grete fischis, an hundrid fifti and thre; and whanne thei weren so manye, the nett was not brokun.

¹² Jhesus seith to hem, Come ye, ete ye. And no man of hem that saten at the mete, durste axe hym, Who art thou, witinge that it is the Lord.

¹³ And Jhesus cam, and took breed, an yaf to hem, and fisch also.

¹⁴ Now this thridde tyme Jhesus was schewid to hise disciplis, whanne he hadde risun ayen fro deth.

¹⁵ And whanne thei hadde etun, Jhesus seith to Simount Petre, Symount of Joon, louest thou me more than these? He seith to him, Yhe, Lord, thou woost that Y loue thee. Jhesus seith to hym, Fede thou my lambren.

¹⁶ Eft he seith to hym, Symount of Joon, louest thou me? He seith to him, Yhe, Lord, thou woost that Y loue thee. He seith to him, Fede thou my lambren.

¹⁷ He seith to him the thridde tyme, Simount of Joon, louest thou me? Petre was heuy, for he seith to hym the thridde tyme, Louest thou me, and he seith to him, Lord, thou knowist alle thingis; thou woost that Y loue thee. Jhesus seith to hym, Fede my scheep.

¹⁸ Treuli, treuli, Y seie to thee, whanne thou were yongere, thou girdidist thee, and wandridist where thou woldist; but whanne thou schalt waxe eldere, thou schalt holde forth thin hondis, and another schal girde thee, and schal lede thee whidur thou wolt not.

¹⁹ He seide this thing, signifynge bi what deth he schulde glorifie God. And whanne he hadde seid these thingis, he seith to hym, Sue thou me.

²⁰ Petre turnede, and say thilke disciple suynge, whom Jhesus louede, which also restid in the soper on his brest, and he seide to hym, Lord, who is it, that schal bitraie thee?

³ Simon Peter saith to them, 'I go away to fish;' they say to him, 'We go — we also — with thee;' they went forth and entered into the boat immediately, and on that night they caught nothing.

⁴ And morning being now come, Jesus stood at the shore, yet indeed the disciples did not know that it is Jesus;

⁵ Jesus, therefore, saith to them, 'Lads, have ye any meat?'

⁶ they answered him, 'No;' and he said to them, 'Cast the net at the right side of the boat, and ye shall find;' they cast, therefore, and no longer were they able to draw it, from the multitude of the fishes.

⁷ That disciple, therefore, whom Jesus was loving saith to Peter, 'The Lord it is!' Simon Peter, therefore, having heard that it is the Lord, did gird on the outer coat, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea;

⁸ and the other disciples came by the little boat, for they were not far from the land, but as it were about two hundred cubits off, dragging the net of the fishes;

⁹ when, therefore, they came to the land, they behold a fire of coals lying, and a fish lying on it, and bread.

¹⁰ Jesus saith to them, 'Bring ye from the fishes that ye caught now;'

¹¹ Simon Peter went up, and drew the net up on the land, full of great fishes, an hundred fifty and three, and though they were so many, the net was not rent.

¹² Jesus saith to them, 'Come ye, dine;' and none of the disciples was venturing to inquire of him, 'Who art thou?' knowing that it is the Lord;

¹³ Jesus, therefore, doth come and take the bread and give to them, and the fish in like manner;

¹⁴ this is now a third time Jesus was manifested to his disciples, having been raised from the dead.

¹⁵ When, therefore, they dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, 'Simon, son of Jonas, dost thou love me more than these?' he saith to him, 'Yes, Lord; thou hast known that I dearly love thee;' he saith to him, 'Feed my lambs.'

¹⁶ He saith to him again, a second time, 'Simon, son of Jonas, dost thou love me?' he saith to him, 'Yes, Lord; thou hast known that I dearly love thee;' he saith to him, 'Tend my sheep.'

¹⁷ He saith to him the third time, 'Simon, son of Jonas, dost thou dearly love me?' Peter was grieved that he said to him the third time, 'Dost thou dearly love me?' and he said to him, 'Lord, thou hast known all things; thou dost know that I dearly love thee.' Jesus saith to him, 'Feed my sheep;

¹⁸ verily, verily, I say to thee, When thou wast younger, thou wast girding thyself and wast walking whither thou didst will, but when thou mayest be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another will gird thee, and shall carry thee whither thou dost not will;'

¹⁹ and this he said, signifying by what death he shall glorify God; and having said this, he saith to him, 'Be following me.'

²⁰ And Peter having turned about doth see the disciple whom Jesus was loving following, (who also reclined in the supper on his breast, and said, 'Sir, who is he who is delivering thee up?')
