John 8:5-11 in American Standard Version (1901)

5 Now in the law Moses commanded us to stone such: what then sayest thou of her?
6 And this they said, trying him, that they might have whereof to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground.
7 But when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
8 And again he stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground.
9 And they, when they heard it, went out one by one, beginning from the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman, where she was, in the midst.
10 And Jesus lifted up himself, and said unto her, Woman, where are they? did no man condemn thee?
11 And she said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said, Neither do I condemn thee: go thy way; from henceforth sin no more.
John 8 in American Standard Version (1901)

John 8:5-11 in God's Living Word

5 In the Law, Moses commanded us to stone such women. What do You say?”
6 They were saying this, testing Him, so that they might have grounds to accuse Him. Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, as if He didn’t hear.
7 When they persisted in asking Him, He straightened up, and told them, “Let whoever is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.”
8 He stooped down, again, and wrote on the ground.
9 When they heard this, they began to go out one by one, beginning with the older ones. Jesus was left alone with the woman still standing there.
10 Straightening up, Jesus asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”
11 She said, “No one, Lord.” Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more.”

John 8:5-11 in King James (Authorized) Version

5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

John 8:5-11 in Translation for Translators

5 Moses commanded us in the laws that he gave us that we should throw stones at such women and kill them. So what do you say we should do?”
6 They asked this question as a trap so that they could accuse him. If he said that they should not kill her, they would shame him for disobeying the law of Moses. If he said that they should kill her, they could accuse him to the Roman governor. But Jesus bent down and wrote something on the ground with his finger.
7 While they continued to question him, he stood up and said to them, “Whichever one of you has never sinned can be the first one to start throwing stones at her.”
8 Then he stooped down and wrote some more on the ground.
9 After they heard what he said, those who were questioning him went away, one by one, the older ones first and then the younger ones, knowing they were all sinners. Finally only Jesus was there, along with the woman.
10 Jesus stood up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one said you must die for your sin?”
11 She said, “No, sir, no one.” Then Jesus said, “I do not condemn you either. Go home now, and do not continue your sinful life any longer!”

John 8:5-11 in Bible in Basic English

5 Now in the law Moses gave directions that such women were to be stoned; what do you say about it?
6 They said this, testing him, so that they might have something against him. But Jesus, with his head bent down, made letters on the floor with his finger.
7 But when they went on with their questions, he got up and said to them, Let him among you who is without sin be the first to send a stone at her.
8 And again, with bent head, he made letters on the floor.
9 And when his words came to their ears, they went out one by one, starting with the oldest even to the last, because they were conscious of what was in their hearts: and Jesus was there by himself with the woman before him.
10 Then Jesus got up, and seeing nobody but the woman, he said to her, Where are the men who said things against you? did no one give a decision against you?
11 And she said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said, And I do not give a decision against you: go, and never do wrong again.
