John 6:60-71

⁶⁰Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this, said, “This is a hard saying; who can hear it?”

⁶¹And Jesus, knowing in Himself that His disciples were murmuring about this, He said to them, “Does this offend you?

⁶²What then if you should see the Son of Man ascending where He was before?

⁶³It is the Spirit who makes alive; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

⁶⁴But there are some of you who do not believe.” (For Jesus knew from the beginning who were the ones who did not believe, and who was the one who would betray Him).

⁶⁵And He said, “Because of this I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.”

⁶⁶From this time many of His disciples turned back and no longer walked with Him.

⁶⁷Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?”

⁶⁸But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.

⁶⁹Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

⁷⁰Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?”

⁷¹Now He was speaking about Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, for he was intending to betray Him, though he was one of the twelve.
