John 6:3-6 in English

³ And Jesus went up into the mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.

⁴ Now the passover, the feast of the Jews, was at hand.

⁵ Jesus therefore lifting up his eyes, and seeing that a great multitude cometh unto him, saith unto Philip, Whence are we to buy bread, that these may eat?

⁶ And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.

³ Jesus went up on a mountain side, and sat down with His disciples.

⁴ The Jewish Passover Feast was near.

⁵ Jesus looked up, and saw that a great multitude was coming to Him, so He asked Philip, “Where can we buy bread, so that these may eat?”

⁶ He said this to test him, for He knew what He would do.

³ And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.

⁴ And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh.

⁵ When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?

⁶ He asked this only to find out if Philip believed what Jesus could do, because Jesus already knew what he himself was going to do.

³ Jesus went up into the mountain, and he sat there with his disciples.

⁴ but the passover, the feast of the Jews, was near.

⁵ Jesus then, lifting up his eyes and seeing that a great crowd is coming to him, says to Philip, Whence shall we buy loaves that these may eat?

⁶ But this he said trying him, for he knew what he was going to do.

³ Jesus therefore went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.

⁴ Now the pasch, the festival day of the Jews, was near at hand.

⁵ When Jesus therefore had lifted up his eyes, and seen that a very great multitude cometh to him, he said to Philip: Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?

⁵ Then, raising His eyes and observing that a huge crowd was coming toward Him, Jesus says to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread so that these folks may eat?”

⁶ Now He said this to test him, for He Himself knew what He was about to do.

³ Jesus went up a hill and sat down there with his disciples.

⁴ The time for the Jewish festival of the Passover was approaching.

⁵ When Jesus looked up, and saw a large crowd coming towards him, he asked Philip, “Where can we buy enough bread to feed all these people?”

⁶ He only asked this to see how Philip would respond, because Jesus already knew what he was going to do.

³ Then Iesus went vp into a mountaine, and there he sate with his disciples.

⁴ Now the Passeouer, a feast of the Iewes, was neere.

⁵ Then Iesus lift vp his eyes, and seeing that a great multitude came vnto him, hee sayde vnto Philippe, Whence shall we buy breade, that these might eate?

⁶ (And this he sayde to prooue him: for hee himselfe knewe what he would doe.)

³ And Iesus went vp into a mountayne and there he sate with his disciples.

⁴ And ester a feast of the Iewes was nye.

⁵ Then Iesus lifte vp his eyes and sawe a greate company come vnto him and sayde vnto Philip: whence shall we bye breed that these might eate.

⁶ This he sayde to prove him: for he him sylfe knewe what he wolde do.

⁶ But he said this thing, tempting him (or testing him); for he knew what he was to do.

³ Therfor Jhesus wente in to an hil, and sat there with hise disciplis.

⁴ And the paske was ful niy, a feeste dai of the Jewis.

⁵ Therfor whanne Jhesus hadde lift vp hise iyen, and hadde seyn, that a greet multitude cam to hym, he seith to Filip, Wherof schulen we bie looues, that these men ete?

⁶ But he seide this thing, temptynge hym; for he wiste what he was to do.

³ and Jesus went up to the mount, and he was there sitting with his disciples,

⁴ and the passover was nigh, the feast of the Jews.

⁵ Jesus then having lifted up his eyes and having seen that a great multitude doth come to him, saith unto Philip, 'Whence shall we buy loaves, that these may eat?' —

⁶ and this he said, trying him, for he himself had known what he was about to do.
