John 4:40-43 in English

⁴⁰ So when the Samaritans came unto him, they besought him to abide with them: and he abode there two days.

⁴¹ And many more believed because of his word;

⁴² and they said to the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy speaking: for we have heard for ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Saviour of the world.

⁴³ And after the two days he went forth from thence into Galilee.

⁴⁰ So when the Samaritans arrived, they asked Him to stay with them, and He stayed there two days.

⁴¹ Many more believed because of His words.

⁴² They told the woman, “It’s no longer just because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this is truly the Savior of the world, the Christ.”

⁴³ After the two days, He departed from there and went to Galilee,

⁴⁰ So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.

⁴¹ And many more believed because of his own word;

⁴² And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

⁴³ Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.

⁴⁰ So when the Samaritans came unto him, they besought him to abide with them: and he abode there two days.

⁴⁰ So when those people of Samaria came to Jesus, they urged him to stay with them. So we stayed there two days.

⁴¹ Many more of those people believed ◄ in Jesus/that he was the Messiah► because of what he said.

⁴² They told the woman, “We believe in Jesus now , but not just because of what you told us. Now we have heard him ourselves. And now we know that this man truly is the one who can save people MTY from the guilt of their sins .”

⁴³ Jesus had said previously that people did not honor prophets like himself when they tried to teach people in their own home area. So, two days later, Jesus and we disciples left that area and went to his own area in Galilee district, because he knew that people there would not think very highly of him, and as a result the Jewish leaders would not be jealous.

⁴⁰ So when the Samaritans came to him, they begged him to stay with them. He stayed there two days.

⁴¹ Many more believed because of his word.

⁴² They said to the woman, “Now we believe, not because of your speaking; for we have heard for ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world.”

⁴¹ And a great number more of them came to have faith in him because of what he himself said.

⁴² And they said to the woman, Now we have faith, but not because of your story: we ourselves have given ear to his words, and we are certain that he is truly the Saviour of the world.

⁴³ And after the two days he went on from there into Galilee.

⁴⁰ When therefore the Samaritans came to him they asked him to abide with them, and he abode there two days.

⁴¹ And more a great deal believed on account of his word;

⁴² and they said to the woman, It is no longer on account of thy saying that we believe, for we have heard him ourselves, and we know that this is indeed the Saviour of the world.

⁴³ But after the two days he went forth thence and went away into Galilee,

⁴⁰ So when the Samaritans were come to him, they desired that he would tarry there. And he abode there two days.

⁴¹ And many more believed in him because of his own word.

⁴² And they said to the woman: We now believe, not for thy saying: for we ourselves have heard him, and know that this is indeed the Saviour of the world.

⁴⁰ So when the Samaritans came to Him they urged Him to stay with them; and He did stay there two days.

⁴¹ Many more believed through His own word,

⁴² and they kept saying to the woman, “It is not just because of what you said that we believe, because we ourselves have heard Him, and we know that this One is truly the Messiah, the Savior of the world!”

⁴³ So after the two days He departed from there and went on into Galilee.

⁴⁰ So when they came to see him they pleaded with him to stay with them. He stayed for two days,

⁴¹ and because of what he told them many more trusted in him.

⁴² They said to the woman, “Now our trust in him isn't just because of what you told us but because we have heard him for ourselves. We're convinced that he really is the Savior of the world.”

⁴³ After the two days he continued on to Galilee.

⁴⁰ Then when the Samaritans were come vnto him, they besought him, that he woulde tarie with them: and he abode there two dayes.

⁴¹ And many moe beleeued because of his owne word.

⁴² And they said vnto the woman, Nowe we beleeue, not because of thy saying: for we haue heard him our selues, and knowe that this is in deede that Christ the Sauiour of the world.

⁴³ So two dayes after he departed thence, and went into Galile.

⁴⁰ So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.

⁴¹ And many moe believed because of his own word;

⁴² and said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

⁴¹ But far more came to believe in him because of what he said himself,

⁴² and they said to the woman, “It is no longer because of what you say that we believe in him, for we have heard him ourselves and know that he really is the Saviour of the world.”

⁴³ After these two days Jesus went on to Galilee;

⁴⁰ And, when these Samaritans had come to Jesus, they begged him to stay with them, and he stayed there two days.

⁴³ After these two days Jesus went on to Galilee;

⁴⁰ So when the Samaritans people from Watch-mountain came to him, they begged him to stay with them. He stayed there two days.

⁴¹ Many more believed because of his word.

⁴² They said to the woman, “Now we believe, not because of your speaking; for we have heard for ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Messiah Anointed one, the Savior of the world.”

⁴³ After the two days he went out from there and went into Galilee District, Circuit.

⁴⁰ Then when the Samaritas were come vnto him they besought him that he wolde tary with the. And he aboode there two dayes.

⁴¹ And many moo beleved because of his awne wordes

⁴² and sayd vnto the woman: Now we beleve not because of thy sayinge. For we have herde him oure selves and knowe that this is even in dede Christ the savioure of the worlde.

⁴³ After two dayes he departed thence and wet awaye into Galile.

⁴⁰ So when the Samaritans came to him, they asked him to stay with them, and he stayed there two days.

⁴¹ Many more believed because of his word.

⁴² They said to the woman, “We no longer believe because of what you said, for we ourselves have heard, and we know that this one is indeed the savior of the world.”

⁴³ After those two days, he departed from there for Galilee.

⁴¹ And many more believed for his word(s),

⁴² and said to the woman, That now not for thy speech we believe; for we have heard, and we know, that this is verily the Saviour of the world, (or for we have heard, and we know, that he is truly the Saviour of the world).

⁴³ And after two days he went out from thence, and went into Galilee.

⁴⁰ Therfor whanne Samaritans camen to hym, thei preieden hym to dwelle there; and he dwelte there twey daies.

⁴¹ And many mo bileueden for his word,

⁴² and seiden to the womman, That now not for thi speche we bileuen; for we han herd, and we witen, that this is verili the sauyour of the world.

⁴³ And aftir twei daies he wente out fro thennus, and wente in to Galilee.

⁴⁰ When, then, the Samaritans came unto him, they were asking him to remain with them, and he remained there two days;

⁴¹ and many more did believe because of his word,

⁴² and said to the woman — 'No more because of thy speaking do we believe; for we ourselves have heard and known that this is truly the Saviour of the world — the Christ.'

⁴³ And after the two days he went forth thence, and went away to Galilee,
