Help us?

John 4:15-43 in American Standard Version (1901)

15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come all the way hither to draw.
16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
17 The woman answered and said unto him, I have no husband. Jesus saith unto her, Thou saidst well, I have no husband:
18 for thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: this hast thou said truly.
19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, shall ye worship the Father.
22 Ye worship that which ye know not: we worship that which we know; for salvation is from the Jews.
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth: for such doth the Father seek to be his worshippers.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship in spirit and truth.
25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messiah cometh (he that is called Christ): when he is come, he will declare unto us all things.
26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.
27 And upon this came his disciples; and they marvelled that he was speaking with a woman; yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why speakest thou with her?
28 So the woman left her waterpot, and went away into the city, and saith to the people,
29 Come, see a man, who told me all things that ever I did: can this be the Christ?
30 They went out of the city, and were coming to him.
31 In the mean while the disciples prayed him, saying, Rabbi, eat.
32 But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not.
33 The disciples therefore said one to another, Hath any man brought him aught to eat?
34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to accomplish his work.
35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh the harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields, that they are white already unto harvest.
36 He that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal; that he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.
37 For herein is the saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.
38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye have not labored: others have labored, and ye are entered into their labor.
39 And from that city many of the Samaritans believed on him because of the word of the woman, who testified, He told me all things that ever I did.
40 So when the Samaritans came unto him, they besought him to abide with them: and he abode there two days.
41 And many more believed because of his word;
42 and they said to the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy speaking: for we have heard for ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Saviour of the world.
43 And after the two days he went forth from thence into Galilee.
John 4 in American Standard Version (1901)

John 4:15-43 in God's Living Word

15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming all the way here to draw water.”
16 Jesus told her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.”
17 The woman answered, “I have no husband.” Jesus told her, “You are right in saying, ‘I have no husband,’
18 for you have had five husbands, and the one you have now isn’t your husband. What you have said is quite true.”
19 The woman said to Him, “Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet.
20 Our ancestors worshipped on this mountain, but you Jews say that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.”
21 Jesus told her, “Woman, believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem.
22 You Samaritans worship what you don’t know. We worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews.
23 A time is coming, and has now come, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers that the Father seeks.
24 God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
25 The woman said to Him, “I know that the Messiah (who is called Christ) is coming. When He comes, He will explain everything to us.”
26 Jesus told her, “I who speak to you am He.”
27 Just then Jesus’ disciples returned. They were surprised to find him talking with a woman, but no one asked, “What do you want?” or “Why are you talking with her?”
28 Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and began telling the people,
29 “Come, see a man who told me everything that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?”
30 They went out of the city, and started to go to Him.
31 Meanwhile, the disciples urged Him, saying “Rabbi, eat something.”
32 He told them, “I have food to eat that you don’t know about.”
33 So the disciples asked one another, “Nobody brought Him anything to eat, did they?”
34 Jesus told them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent me, and to accomplish His work.
35 Don’t you say, ‘It’s still four months until the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.
36 He who harvests is already receiving wages, and is gathering fruit for eternal life, so that he who plants and he who harvests may rejoice together.
37 Thus the saying ‘One plants and another harvests’ is true.
38 I sent you to harvest that for which you didn’t labor. Others have labored, and you have entered into their labor.”
39 Many Samaritans from that town believed in Jesus because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything that I ever did.”
40 So when the Samaritans arrived, they asked Him to stay with them, and He stayed there two days.
41 Many more believed because of His words.
42 They told the woman, “It’s no longer just because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this is truly the Savior of the world, the Christ.”
43 After the two days, He departed from there and went to Galilee,

John 4:15-43 in King James (Authorized) Version

15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.
26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.

27 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?

30 Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.

32 But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.
33 Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?
34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.
37 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.
38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.

39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.
40 So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.
41 And many more believed because of his own word;
42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

43 Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.

John 4:15-43 in Translation for Translators

15 The woman did not understand that Jesus was speaking figuratively about something that would sustain her spiritually. So she said to him, “Sir, give me that kind of water so that I will not get thirsty again, and so that I will not have to keep returning here to get water!”
16 Jesus knew that she did not understand, but he wanted to show her by his God-given knowledge of her personal life that because he was the Messiah he could supply her spiritual need. So he said to her, “Woman, go and call your husband, and bring him here!”
17 She replied, “I do not have a husband!” Jesus said to her, “You said that you do not have a husband, and that is true.
18 It is also true that you have had five husbands one by one. And the man you are living with now is not your husband! What you have said is very true.”
19 The woman said to him, “Sir, I perceive you must be a prophet because you are able to know people's secrets.
20 But let me ask you a different question: Our ancestors worshipped God here on Gerizim mountain, but you Jews say that Jerusalem is the place where we must worship God. So who is right?”
21 Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe me when I say that there will be a time when it will not matter whether you worship God our Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem or somewhere else.
22 You people from Samaria do not know the one you are worshipping. But we (exc) Jews know whom we worship, because it is from us Jews that God has sent the one who will save people from the guilt of their sins.
23 However, there will be a time when those who genuinely worship God will worship him as God's Spirit directs and according to God's truth. In fact, that time is now. Those are the kind of worshipers my Father seeks.
24 God is a spiritual being. So it is necessary that those who worship him must worship him as his Spirit directs and according to God's truth.”
25 The woman said to him, “I know that the Messiah is coming. When he comes, he will tell us everything we need to know.” ('Messiah❜ and ❛Christ❜ both mean ❛God's promised king❜.)
26 Jesus said to her, “I, the one speaking to you, am the Messiah!”
27 Just then we disciples returned from town. Since it was contrary to our custom for Jewish religious teachers to converse with a woman they did not know, we were surprised that he was talking to a woman. However, none of us asked her, “What do you want?” and none of us asked him, “Why are you talking with her?”
28 The woman left her water jar there and went into the town. She said to the people there,
29 “Come and see a man who was able to tell me all about my past life HYP, even though I never met him before Could this man be the Messiah?”
30 So many people left the town and started going to where Jesus was.
31 Meanwhile, we disciples were urging him, “Teacher, eat some of the food we brought!”
32 But he said to us, “I have food to eat that you do not know anything about!”
33 So we started saying to each other, “◄Surely no one has brought him any food when we were not here!/Has anyone brought him any food when we were not here?► RHQ”
34 Jesus said to us, “Doing what my Father who sent me wants me to do and finishing the work he gave me to do is ◄ what sustains me/like my food► MET.
35 At this time of the year you are saying (OR, your ancestors used to say), ‘There are four months left before we harvest the crops.’ But I say to you, look carefully at the non-Jewish people around here. God says, ‘They are ready to accept my message MET, like crops in fields that are ready for people to harvest.
36 If you help them to accept my message, I will reward you MET, as an owner of a field pays those who harvest the crops. Because of your work, people will gain eternal life.’ I have been telling people God's message. That is like MET a man who plants seeds. You will help people to accept my message. That will be like MET harvesting crops. When that happens, both you and I will rejoice.
37 As a result, this saying will become true: One person plants seeds, but others harvest the crops.
38 I am sending you to enable people to accept my message, but you will not be the first ones who tell them God's message. Others previously worked hard to tell people God's message, and now you will be harvesting the results of their work.”
39 Many of the Samaria district people who lived in that town believed that Jesus was the Messiah because they heard what that woman said about Jesus, “That man was able to tell me all about my past life HYP!”
40 So when those people of Samaria came to Jesus, they urged him to stay with them. So we stayed there two days.
41 Many more of those people believed ◄ in Jesus/that he was the Messiah► because of what he said.
42 They told the woman, “We believe in Jesus now , but not just because of what you told us. Now we have heard him ourselves. And now we know that this man truly is the one who can save people MTY from the guilt of their sins .”
43 Jesus had said previously that people did not honor prophets like himself when they tried to teach people in their own home area. So, two days later, Jesus and we disciples left that area and went to his own area in Galilee district, because he knew that people there would not think very highly of him, and as a result the Jewish leaders would not be jealous.

John 4:15-43 in Bible in Basic English

15 The woman said to him, Sir, give me this water, so that I may not be in need again of drink and will not have to come all this way for it.
16 Jesus said to her, Go, get your husband and come back here with him.
17 In answer, the woman said, I have no husband. Jesus said to her, You have said rightly, I have no husband:
18 You have had five husbands, and the man you have now is not your husband: that was truly said.
19 The woman said to him, Sir, I see that you are a prophet.
20 Our fathers gave worship on this mountain, but you Jews say that the right place for worship is in Jerusalem.
21 Jesus said to her, Woman, take my word for this; the time is coming when you will not give worship to the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem.
22 You give worship, but without knowledge of what you are worshipping: we give worship to what we have knowledge of: for salvation comes from the Jews.
23 But the time is coming, and is even now here, when the true worshippers will give worship to the Father in the true way of the spirit, for these are the worshippers desired by the Father.
24 God is Spirit: then let his worshippers give him worship in the true way of the spirit.
25 The woman said to him, I am certain that the Messiah, who is named Christ, is coming; when he comes he will make all things clear to us.
26 Jesus said to her, I, who am talking to you, am he.
27 At that point the disciples came back, and they were surprised to see him talking to a woman; but not one of them said to him, What is your purpose? or, Why are you talking to her?
28 Then the woman put down her water-pot and went into the town, and said to the people,
29 Come and see a man who has been talking to me of everything I ever did! Is it possible that this is the Christ?
30 So they went out of the town and came to him.
31 While this was taking place, the disciples were saying to Jesus, Master, take some food.
32 But he said to them, I have food of which you have no knowledge.
33 So the disciples said one to another, Did anyone give him food?
34 Jesus said, My food is to do the pleasure of him who sent me and to make his work complete.
35 You would say, Four months from now is the time of the grain-cutting. Take a look, I say to you, at the fields; they are even now white for cutting.
36 He who does the cutting now has his reward; he is getting together fruit for eternal life, so that he who did the planting and he who gets in the grain may have joy together.
37 In this the saying is a true one, One does the planting, and another gets in the grain.
38 I sent you to get in grain which you had no hand in planting: other men did that work, and you take the reward.
39 Now a number of the people of that town had faith in him because of the woman's witness: He has been talking to me of everything I ever did.
40 So when the people came to him they made request to him to be among them for a time, and he was there two days.
41 And a great number more of them came to have faith in him because of what he himself said.
42 And they said to the woman, Now we have faith, but not because of your story: we ourselves have given ear to his words, and we are certain that he is truly the Saviour of the world.
43 And after the two days he went on from there into Galilee.

John 4:15-43 in Darby Translation

15 The woman says to him, Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst nor come here to draw.
16 Jesus says to her, Go, call thy husband, and come here.
17 The woman answered and said, I have not a husband. Jesus says to her, Thou hast well said, I have not a husband;
18 for thou hast had five husbands, and he whom now thou hast is not thy husband: this thou hast spoken truly.
19 The woman says to him, Sir, I see that thou art a prophet.
20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain, and ye say that in Jerusalem is the place where one must worship.
21 Jesus says to her, Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when ye shall neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem worship the Father.
22 Ye worship ye know not what; we worship what we know, for salvation is of the Jews.
23 But the hour is coming and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth; for also the Father seeks such as his worshippers.
24 God is a spirit; and they who worship him must worship him in spirit and truth.
25 The woman says to him, I know that Messias is coming, who is called Christ; when he comes he will tell us all things.
26 Jesus says to her, I who speak to thee am he.
27 And upon this came his disciples, and wondered that he spoke with a woman; yet no one said, What seekest thou? or, Why speakest thou with her?
28 The woman then left her waterpot and went away into the city, and says to the men,
29 Come, see a man who told me all things I had ever done: is not he the Christ?
30 They went out of the city and came to him.
31 But meanwhile the disciples asked him saying, Rabbi, eat.
32 But he said to them, I have food to eat which ye do not know.
33 The disciples therefore said to one another, Has any one brought him anything to eat?
34 Jesus says to them, My food is that I should do the will of him that has sent me, and that I should finish his work.
35 Do not ye say, that there are yet four months and the harvest comes? Behold, I say to you, Lift up your eyes and behold the fields, for they are already white to harvest.
36 He that reaps receives wages and gathers fruit unto life eternal, that both he that sows and he that reaps may rejoice together.
37 For in this is verified the true saying, It is one who sows and another who reaps.
38 I have sent you to reap that on which ye have not laboured; others have laboured, and ye have entered into their labours.
39 But many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him because of the word of the woman who bore witness, He told me all things that I had ever done.
40 When therefore the Samaritans came to him they asked him to abide with them, and he abode there two days.
41 And more a great deal believed on account of his word;
42 and they said to the woman, It is no longer on account of thy saying that we believe, for we have heard him ourselves, and we know that this is indeed the Saviour of the world.
43 But after the two days he went forth thence and went away into Galilee,

15 The woman saith to him: Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come hither to draw.
16 Jesus saith to her: Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
17 The woman answered, and said: I have no husband. Jesus said to her: Thou hast said well, I have no husband:
18 For thou hast had five husbands: and he whom thou now hast, is not thy husband. This thou hast said truly.
19 The woman saith to him: Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
20 Our fathers adored on this mountain, and you say, that at Jerusalem is the place where men must adore.
21 Jesus saith to her: Woman, believe me, that the hour cometh, when you shall neither on this mountain, not in Jerusalem, adore the Father.
22 You adore that which you know not: we adore that which we know; for salvation is of the Jews.
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true adorers shall adore the Father in spirit and in truth. For the Father also seeketh such to adore him.
24 God is a spirit; and they that adore him, must adore him in spirit and in truth.
25 The woman saith to him: I know that the Messias cometh (who is called Christ). Therefore, when he is come, he will tell us all things.
26 Jesus saith to her: I am he, who am speaking with thee.
27 And immediately his disciples came; and they wondered that he talked with the woman. Yet no man said: What seekest thou? or, why talkest thou with her?
28 The woman therefore left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men there:
29 Come, and see a man who has told me all things whatsoever I have done. Is not he the Christ?
30 They went therefore out of the city, and came unto him.
31 In the mean time the disciples prayed him, saying: Rabbi, eat.
32 But he said to them: I have meat to eat, which you know not.
33 The disciples therefore said one to another: Hath any man brought him to eat?
34 Jesus saith to them: My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, that I may perfect his work.
35 Do you not say, There are yet four months, and then the harvest cometh? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes, and see the countries; for they are white already to harvest.
36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life everlasting: that both he that soweth, and he that reapeth, may rejoice together.
37 For in this is the saying true: That it is one man that soweth, and it is another that reapeth.
38 I have sent you to reap that in which you did not labour: others have laboured, and you have entered into their labours.
39 Now of that city many of the Samaritans believed in him, for the word of the woman giving testimony: He told me all things whatsoever I have done.
40 So when the Samaritans were come to him, they desired that he would tarry there. And he abode there two days.
41 And many more believed in him because of his own word.

John 4:15-43 in The New Testament with Commentary

15 The woman says to Him, “Sir, give me this water! so that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw.”
16 Jesus says to her, “Go, call your husband and come back here.”
17 The woman answered and said, “I don't have a husband.” Jesus says to her: “You stated correctly that you do not have a husband,
18 because you have had five husbands, and the one you have now is no husband of yours. You spoke the truth there!”
19 The woman says to Him: “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.
20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, while you (pl) say that the place where one must worship is in Jerusalem.”
21 Jesus says to her: “Woman, believe me, a time is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.
22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we Jews worship what we do know, because the salvation is from the Jews.
23 But the time is coming, in fact now is, when the genuine worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth. Really, because the Father is looking for such people to worship Him.
24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
25 The woman says to Him: “I know that Messiah is coming (who is called Christ). When He comes He will explain everything to us.”
26 Jesus says to her, “I am He, the one who is talking with you!”
27 At that point His disciples arrived, and they were amazed that He was talking with a woman; yet no one said, “What do you want?” or “Why are You talking with her?”
28 So the woman left her water jar, went her way into the town, and says to the men:
29 “Come see a man who told me everything I ever did! Could this be the Messiah?”
30 So out they went from the town and started toward Him.
31 Now in the meantime the disciples were urging Him saying, “Rabbi, eat.”
32 But He said to them, “I have food to eat that you do not know about.”
33 So the disciples started saying to one another, “Could someone have brought Him something to eat?”
34 Jesus says to them: “My food is to do the will of Him who sent me and to complete His work.
35 Do you not say, ‘There are four months before the harvest comes?’ Well I say, Look! Lift your eyes and observe the fields; they are white for harvest already!
36 Now he who reaps receives pay and gathers fruit into eternal life, so that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.
37 Now the saying, ‘One is the sower and another the reaper,’ is true in this:
38 I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored and you have entered into their labors.”
39 Now many of the Samaritans from that city believed into Him because of the word of the woman, testifying that “He told me everything I ever did!”
40 So when the Samaritans came to Him they urged Him to stay with them; and He did stay there two days.
41 Many more believed through His own word,
42 and they kept saying to the woman, “It is not just because of what you said that we believe, because we ourselves have heard Him, and we know that this One is truly the Messiah, the Savior of the world!”
43 So after the two days He departed from there and went on into Galilee.

15 “Sir,” replied the woman, “Please give me this water so I won't be thirsty, and I won't have to come here to fetch water!”
16 “Go and call your husband, and come back here,” Jesus told her.
17 “I don't have a husband,” the woman answered. “You're right in saying you don't have a husband,” Jesus told her.
18 “You've had five husbands, and the one you're living with now is not your husband. So what you say is true!”
19 “I can see you're a prophet, sir,” the woman replied.
20 “Tell me this: our ancestors worshiped here on this mountain, but you say that Jerusalem is where we must worship.”
21 Jesus replied, “Believe me the time is coming when you won't worship the Father either on this mountain or in Jerusalem.
22 You really don't know the God you're worshiping, while we worship the God we know, for salvation comes from the Jews.
23 But the time is coming—and in fact it's here already—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for these are the kind of worshipers the Father wants.
24 God is Spirit, so worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.”
25 The woman said, “Well, I know that the Messiah is coming,” (the one who is called Christ). “When he comes he will explain it all to us.”
26 Jesus replied, “I AM—the one who is speaking to you.”
27 Just then the disciples returned. They were shocked that he was talking to a woman, but none of them asked “What are you doing?” or “Why are you talking with her?”
28 The woman left her water jar behind and ran back to the town, telling the people,
29 “Come and meet a man who told me everything I ever did! Could this be the Messiah?”
30 So they went out of the town to go and see him.
31 Meanwhile Jesus' disciples were urging him, “Rabbi, please eat something!”
32 But Jesus replied, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.”
33 “Did someone bring him food?” the disciples asked one another.
34 Jesus told them, “My food is to do the will of the one who sent me, and to complete his work.
35 Don't you have a saying, ‘four more months until harvest?’ Open your eyes and look around! The crops in the fields are ripe, ready for harvest.
36 The reaper is being paid and harvesting a crop for eternal life so that both the sower and the reaper can celebrate.
37 So the proverb ‘one sows, another reaps,’ is true.
38 I sent you to reap what you didn't work for. Others did the hard work and you have reaped the benefits of what they did.”
39 Many Samaritans from that town trusted in him because of what the woman said: “He told me everything I ever did.”
40 So when they came to see him they pleaded with him to stay with them. He stayed for two days,
41 and because of what he told them many more trusted in him.
42 They said to the woman, “Now our trust in him isn't just because of what you told us but because we have heard him for ourselves. We're convinced that he really is the Savior of the world.”
43 After the two days he continued on to Galilee.

17 “I have no husband,” answered the woman. “You are right in saying ‘I have no husband,’” replied Jesus,
18 “For you have had five husbands, and the man with whom you are now living is not your husband; in saying that, you have spoken the truth.”
19 “I see, Sir, that you are a prophet!” exclaimed the woman.
20 “It was on this mountain that our ancestors worshiped; and yet you Jews say that the proper place for worship is in Jerusalem.”
21 “Believe me,” replied Jesus, “a time is coming when it will be neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem that you will worship the Father.
22 You Samaritans do not know what you worship; we know what we worship, for salvation comes from the Jews.
23 But a time is coming, indeed it is already here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father spiritually and truly; for such are the worshipers that the Father desires.
24 God is Spirit; and those who worship him must worship spiritually and truly.”
25 “I know,” answered the woman, “that the Messiah, who is called the Christ, is coming; when once he has come, he will tell us everything.”
26 “I am he,” Jesus said to her, “I who am speaking to you.”
27 At this moment his disciples came up, and were surprised to find him talking with a woman; but none of them asked ‘What do you want?’ or ‘Why are you talking with her?’
28 So the woman, leaving her pitcher, went back to the town, and said to the people,
29 “Come and see someone who has told me everything that I have done. Can he be the Christ?”
30 And the people left the town and went to see Jesus.
31 Meanwhile the disciples kept saying to him, “Take something to eat, Rabbi.”
32 “I have food to eat,” he answered, “of which you know nothing.”
33 “Can anyone have brought him anything to eat?” the disciples said to one another.
34 “My food,” replied Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me, and to complete his work.
35 Don't you say that it still wants four months to harvest? Why, look up, and see how white the fields are for harvest!
36 Already the reaper is receiving wages and gathering in sheaves for eternal life, so that sower and reaper rejoice together.
37 For here the proverb holds good — ‘One sows, another reaps.’
38 I have sent you to reap that on which you have spent no labor; others have labored, and you have reaped the results of their labor.”
39 Many from that town came to believe in Jesus — Samaritans though they were — because the woman had said, ‘He has told me everything that I have done.’
40 And, when these Samaritans had come to Jesus, they begged him to stay with them, and he stayed there two days.
41 But far more came to believe in him because of what he said himself,
42 and they said to the woman, “It is no longer because of what you say that we believe in him, for we have heard him ourselves and know that he really is the Savior of the world.”
43 After these two days Jesus went on to Galilee;

16 Yeshua Salvation said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.”
17 The woman answered, “I have no husband.” Yeshua Salvation said to her, “You said well, ‘I have no husband,’
18 for you have had five husbands; and he whom you now have is not your husband. This you have said truly.”
19 The woman said to him, “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.
20 Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you Jews Praisers say that in Jerusalem City of peace is the place where people ought to worship.”
21 Yeshua Salvation said to her, “Woman, believe me, the time will come, when neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem City of peace, will you worship Abba Father.
22 You worship that which you don’t know. We worship that which we know; for yishu'ah ·salvation· is from the Jews Praisers.
23 But the time will come, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship Abba Father in spirit and truth, for Abba Father seeks such to be his worshipers.
24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
25 The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah Anointed one comes, he who is called Messiah Anointed one. When he has come, he will declare to us all things.”
26 Yeshua Salvation said to her, “Ena Na I AM (the Living God), I who is speaking to you.”
27 At this, his disciples came. They marveled that he was speaking with a woman; yet no one said, “What are you looking for?” or, “Why do you speak with her?”
28 So the woman left her water pot, and went away into the city, and said to the people,
29 “Come, see a man who told me everything that I did. Can this be the Messiah Anointed one?”
30 They went out of the city, and were coming to him.
31 In the meanwhile, the disciples urged him, saying, “Rabbi ·Teacher·, eat.”
32 But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you don’t know about.”
33 The disciples therefore said to one another, “Has anyone brought him something to eat?”
34 Yeshua Salvation said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me, and to accomplish his work.

38 I sent you to reap that for which you haven’t labored. Others have labored, and you have entered into their labor.”
39 From that city many of the Samaritans people from Watch-mountain believed in him because of the word of the woman, who testified, “He told me everything that I did.”
40 So when the Samaritans people from Watch-mountain came to him, they begged him to stay with them. He stayed there two days.
41 Many more believed because of his word.
42 They said to the woman, “Now we believe, not because of your speaking; for we have heard for ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Messiah Anointed one, the Savior of the world.”

23 But the time is come, and now it is, when true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth; for also the Father seeketh such, that worship him.
24 God is a Spirit, and it behooveth them that worship him, to worship in spirit and truth.
25 The woman saith to him, I know that Messiah is come, that is said Christ; therefore when he cometh, he shall tell us all things.
26 Jesus saith to her, I am he or I am, that speaketh with thee.
27 And anon his disciples came, and wondered, that he spake with the woman; nevertheless no man said to him, What seekest thou, or, What speakest thou with her?
28 Therefore the woman left her water pot, and went into the city, and said to the men,
29 Come ye, and see a man, that said to me all things that I have done; whether he be Christ?
30 And they went out of the city, and came to him.
31 In the meanwhile his disciples prayed him, and said, Master or Rabbi, eat.
32 But he said to them, I have meat to eat, that ye know not.
33 Therefore the disciples said together, Whether any man hath brought him meat to eat?
34 Jesus saith to them, My meat is that I do the will of him that sent me, and that I perform the work of him.
35 Whether ye say not, that yet four months be, and ripe corn cometh? Lo! I say to you, lift up your eyes, and see ye the fields, for now they be white to reap.
36 And he that reapeth taketh hire, and gathereth fruit into everlasting life; that both he that soweth, and he that reapeth, have joy together.
37 In this thing is the word true, For one is that soweth, and another that reapeth.
38 I sent you to reap, that that ye have not travailed; other men have travailed, and ye have entered into their travails.
39 And of that city many of the Samaritans believed in him, for the word of the woman, that bare witnessing, That he said to me all things that I have done.
40 Therefore when Samaritans came to him, they prayed him to dwell there; and he dwelt there two days.
41 And many more believed for his word,
42 and said to the woman, That now not for thy speech we believe; for we have heard, and we know, that this is verily the Saviour of the world.
43 And after two days he went out from thence, and went into Galilee.

27 And anon his disciples came, and wondered, that he spake with the woman; nevertheless no man said to him, What seekest thou, or, What speakest thou with her? 37 In this thing is the word true, For one is that soweth, and another that reapeth.
38 I sent you to reap, that that ye have not travailed, (or I sent you to harvest, that which ye have not laboured over); other men have travailed, and ye have entered into their travails.

John 4:15-43 in Young's Literal Translation

15 The woman saith unto him, 'Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come hither to draw.'
16 Jesus saith to her, 'Go, call thy husband, and come hither;'
17 the woman answered and said, 'I have not a husband.' Jesus saith to her, 'Well didst thou say — A husband I have not;
18 for five husbands thou hast had, and, now, he whom thou hast is not thy husband; this hast thou said truly.'
19 The woman saith to him, 'Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet;
20 our fathers in this mountain did worship, and ye — ye say that in Jerusalem is the place where it behoveth to worship.'
21 Jesus saith to her, 'Woman, believe me, that there doth come an hour, when neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, shall ye worship the Father;
22 ye worship what ye have not known; we worship what we have known, because the salvation is of the Jews;
23 but, there cometh an hour, and it now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father also doth seek such to worship him;
24 God is a Spirit, and those worshipping Him, in spirit and truth it doth behove to worship.'
25 The woman saith to him, 'I have known that Messiah doth come, who is called Christ, when that one may come, he will tell us all things;'
26 Jesus saith to her, 'I am he, who am speaking to thee.'
27 And upon this came his disciples, and were wondering that with a woman he was speaking, no one, however, said, 'What seekest thou?' or 'Why speakest thou with her?'
28 The woman then left her water-jug, and went away to the city, and saith to the men,
29 'Come, see a man, who told me all things — as many as I did; is this the Christ?'
30 They went forth therefore out of the city, and were coming unto him.
31 And in the meanwhile his disciples were asking him, saying, 'Rabbi, eat;'
32 and he said to them, 'I have food to eat that ye have not known.'
33 The disciples then said one to another, 'Did any one bring him anything to eat?'
34 Jesus saith to them, 'My food is, that I may do the will of Him who sent me, and may finish His work;
35 do not say that it is yet four months, and the harvest cometh; lo, I say to you, Lift up your eyes, and see the fields, that they are white unto harvest already.
36 'And he who is reaping doth receive a reward, and doth gather fruit to life age-during, that both he who is sowing and he who is reaping may rejoice together;
37 for in this the saying is the true one, that one is the sower and another the reaper.
38 I sent you to reap that on which ye have not laboured; others laboured, and ye into their labour have entered.
39 And from that city many believed in him, of the Samaritans, because of the word of the woman testifying, — 'He told me all things — as many as I did.'
40 When, then, the Samaritans came unto him, they were asking him to remain with them, and he remained there two days;
41 and many more did believe because of his word,
42 and said to the woman — 'No more because of thy speaking do we believe; for we ourselves have heard and known that this is truly the Saviour of the world — the Christ.'
43 And after the two days he went forth thence, and went away to Galilee,
