John 4:14-19 in English

¹⁴ but whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall become in him a well of water springing up unto eternal life.

¹⁵ The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come all the way hither to draw.

¹⁶ Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.

¹⁷ The woman answered and said unto him, I have no husband. Jesus saith unto her, Thou saidst well, I have no husband:

¹⁸ for thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: this hast thou said truly.

¹⁹ The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.

¹⁴ but whoever drinks the water that I will give will never, ever get thirsty. The water that I will give will become in that person a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

¹⁵ The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming all the way here to draw water.”

¹⁶ Jesus told her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.”

¹⁷ The woman answered, “I have no husband.” Jesus told her, “You are right in saying, ‘I have no husband,’

¹⁸ for you have had five husbands, and the one you have now isn’t your husband. What you have said is quite true.”

¹⁹ The woman said to Him, “Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet.

¹⁴ But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

¹⁵ The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.

¹⁷ The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:

¹⁹ The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.

¹⁷ The woman answered and said unto him, I have no husband. Jesus saith unto her, Thou saidst well, I have no husband:

¹⁸ for thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: this hast thou said truly.

¹⁹ The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.

¹⁴ But those who drink the water that I will give them will never be thirsty again. On the contrary, the water that I give them will become in their inner beings like a spring of water that will enable them to have eternal life.”

¹⁵ The woman did not understand that Jesus was speaking figuratively about something that would sustain her spiritually. So she said to him, “Sir, give me that kind of water so that I will not get thirsty again, and so that I will not have to keep returning here to get water!”

¹⁶ Jesus knew that she did not understand, but he wanted to show her by his God-given knowledge of her personal life that because he was the Messiah he could supply her spiritual need. So he said to her, “Woman, go and call your husband, and bring him here!”

¹⁷ She replied, “I do not have a husband!” Jesus said to her, “You said that you do not have a husband, and that is true.

¹⁸ It is also true that you have had five husbands one by one. And the man you are living with now is not your husband! What you have said is very true.”

¹⁹ The woman said to him, “Sir, I perceive you must be a prophet because you are able to know people's secrets.

¹⁴ but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never thirst again; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”

¹⁵ The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I don’t get thirsty, neither come all the way here to draw.”

¹⁶ Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.”

¹⁷ The woman answered, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You said well, ‘I have no husband,’

¹⁸ for you have had five husbands; and he whom you now have is not your husband. This you have said truly.”

¹⁴ But whoever takes the water I give him will never be in need of drink again; for the water I give him will become in him a fountain of eternal life.

¹⁵ The woman said to him, Sir, give me this water, so that I may not be in need again of drink and will not have to come all this way for it.

¹⁶ Jesus said to her, Go, get your husband and come back here with him.

¹⁷ In answer, the woman said, I have no husband. Jesus said to her, You have said rightly, I have no husband:

¹⁸ You have had five husbands, and the man you have now is not your husband: that was truly said.

¹⁹ The woman said to him, Sir, I see that you are a prophet.

¹⁴ but whosoever drinks of the water which I shall give him shall never thirst for ever, but the water which I shall give him shall become in him a fountain of water, springing up into eternal life.

¹⁵ The woman says to him, Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst nor come here to draw.

¹⁹ The woman says to him, Sir, I see that thou art a prophet.

¹⁴ But the water that I will give him, shall become in him a fountain of water, springing up into life everlasting.

¹⁵ The woman says to Him, “Sir, give me this water! so that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw.”

¹⁶ Jesus says to her, “Go, call your husband and come back here.”

¹⁷ The woman answered and said, “I don't have a husband.” Jesus says to her: “You stated correctly that you do not have a husband,

¹⁸ because you have had five husbands, and the one you have now is no husband of yours. You spoke the truth there!”

¹⁹ The woman says to Him: “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.

¹⁴ But those who drink the water I give won't ever be thirsty again. The water I give becomes a bubbling spring of water inside them, bringing them eternal life.”

¹⁵ “Sir,” replied the woman, “Please give me this water so I won't be thirsty, and I won't have to come here to fetch water!”

¹⁶ “Go and call your husband, and come back here,” Jesus told her.

¹⁷ “I don't have a husband,” the woman answered. “You're right in saying you don't have a husband,” Jesus told her.

¹⁸ “You've had five husbands, and the one you're living with now is not your husband. So what you say is true!”

¹⁹ “I can see you're a prophet, sir,” the woman replied.

¹⁴ But whosoeuer drinketh of the water that I shall giue him, shall neuer be more a thirst: but the water that I shall giue him, shalbe in him a well of water, springing vp into euerlasting life.

¹⁵ The woman said vnto him, Syr, giue me of that water, that I may not thirst, neither come hither to drawe.

¹⁶ Iesus said vnto her, Go, call thine husband, and come hither.

¹⁷ The woman answered, and saide, I haue no husband. Iesus said vnto her, Thou hast well said, I haue no husband.

¹⁸ For thou hast had fiue husbands, and he whom thou nowe hast, is not thine husband: that saidest thou truely.

¹⁹ The woman saide vnto him, Sir, I see that thou art a Prophet.

¹⁴ but whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

¹⁷ “I have no husband,” answered the woman. “You are right in saying ‘I have no husband,’” replied Jesus,

¹⁸ “For you have had five husbands, and the man with whom you are now living is not your husband; in saying that, you have spoken the truth.”

¹⁹ “I see, Sir, that you are a prophet!” exclaimed the woman.

¹⁷ The woman answered, “I have no husband.” Yeshua Salvation said to her, “You said well, ‘I have no husband,’

¹⁸ for you have had five husbands; and he whom you now have is not your husband. This you have said truly.”

¹⁹ The woman said to him, “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.

¹⁴ But whosoever shall drinke of the water that I shall geve him shall never be more a thyrst: but the water that I shall geve him shalbe in him a well of water springinge vp in to everlastinge lyfe.

¹⁵ The woman sayd vnto him: Syr geve me of that water that I thyrst not nether come hedder to drawe.

¹⁶ Iesus sayde vnto her. Go and call thy husband and come hydder.

¹⁷ The woman answered and sayde to him: I have no husband. Iesus sayde to her. Thou hast well sayd I have no husbande.

¹⁸ For thou haste had five husbandes and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband. That saydest thou truely.

¹⁹ The woman saith to him, Lord, I see, that thou art a prophet.

¹⁴ but he that drinketh of the water that I shall give him, shall not thirst into without end; but the water that I shall give him, shall be made in him a well of water, springing up into everlasting life (or springing up for eternal life).

¹⁵ The woman saith to him, Sire (or Sir), give me this water, (so) that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.

¹⁶ Jesus saith to her, Go, call thine husband, and come hither.

¹⁷ The woman answered, and said, I have none husband. Jesus saith to her, Thou saidest well, That I have none husband; The woman answered, and said, I have not an husband. Jesus saith to her, Thou saidest well, For I have not an husband;

¹⁸ for thou hast had five husbands, and he that thou hast now, is not thine husband. This thing thou saidest soothly (or Thou hast spoken truthfully).

¹⁹ The woman saith to him, Lord, I see, that thou art a prophet.

¹⁴ schal be maad in hym a welle `of watir, spryngynge vp in to euerlastynge lijf.

¹⁵ The womman seith to hym, Sire, yyue me this watir, that Y thirste not, nether come hidur to drawe.

¹⁶ Jhesus seith to hir, Go, clepe thin hosebonde, and come hidir.

¹⁷ The womman answerde, and seide, Y haue noon hosebonde. Jhesus seith to hir, Thou seidist wel, That Y haue noon hosebonde;

¹⁸ for thou hast hadde fyue hosebondis, and he that thou hast, is not thin hosebonde. This thing thou seidist sotheli.

¹⁹ The womman seith to hym, Lord, Y se, that thou art a prophete.

¹⁴ but whoever may drink of the water that I will give him, may not thirst — to the age; and the water that I will give him shall become in him a well of water, springing up to life age-during.'

¹⁵ The woman saith unto him, 'Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come hither to draw.'

¹⁶ Jesus saith to her, 'Go, call thy husband, and come hither;'

¹⁷ the woman answered and said, 'I have not a husband.' Jesus saith to her, 'Well didst thou say — A husband I have not;

¹⁸ for five husbands thou hast had, and, now, he whom thou hast is not thy husband; this hast thou said truly.'
