John 3:29-30 in English

²⁹ He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, that standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice: this my joy therefore is made full.

³⁰ He must increase, but I must decrease.

²⁹ The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and rejoices when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. This joy of mine is now made complete.

That friend is very happy when he hears the bridegroom's voice when he arrives. Similarly, I am very happy about what you have told me.

³⁰ It is necessary for Jesus to become more important by making more disciples than I have, and for me to become less important.”
