John 3:28-34 in English

²⁸ Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but, that I am sent before him.

²⁹ He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, that standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice: this my joy therefore is made full.

³⁰ He must increase, but I must decrease.

³¹ He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is of the earth, and of the earth he speaketh: he that cometh from heaven is above all.

³² What he hath seen and heard, of that he beareth witness; and no man receiveth his witness.

³³ He that hath received his witness hath set his seal to this, that God is true.

³⁴ For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for he giveth not the Spirit by measure.

²⁸ You yourselves can testify that I said, ‘I’m not the Christ, but I have been sent ahead of Him.’

²⁹ The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and rejoices when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. This joy of mine is now made complete.

³¹ “He who comes from above is above all. He who is of the Earth belongs to the Earth and speaks of the Earth. He who comes from Heaven is above all.

³² He testifies about what He has seen and heard, but no one accepts His testimony.

³³ The man who has accepted His testimony has certified that God is truthful.

³⁴ The one that God has sent speaks God’s words, for God gives the Spirit without measure.

²⁸ You yourselves can verify what I said. I told you that I am not ◄the Messiah/God's promised king►. Instead, I told you that I was sent {that God sent me} to prepare the way for him.

²⁹ Let me illustrate MET: He is like a ◄ bridegroom/man who is being married►, and I am like his friend. The friend of the bridegroom stands there and waits for him to come. That friend is very happy when he hears the bridegroom's voice when he arrives. Similarly, I am very happy about what you have told me.

³⁰ It is necessary for Jesus to become more important by making more disciples than I have, and for me to become less important.”

³¹ Jesus came from heaven. He is more important than anyone else. Those who are born from parents here on earth MTY are just humans, and they speak about things that happen here on the earth. But since Jesus came from heaven, his words are more important than anyone else's.

³² He tells people what he has seen and what he heard in heaven, but very few people HYP listen to what he says.

³³ Those who have accepted what he has said verify that what God has said is true.

³⁴ We know it is true because Jesus, the one God sent, speaks the message of God. That is also true because God causes his Spirit to live in Jesus to completely direct everything he says and does.

³¹ He who comes from heaven is greater than all others: he who comes from earth is of the earth, and of the earth are his words: he who comes from heaven is over all.

³² He gives witness of what he has seen and of what has come to his ears; and no man takes his witness as true.

³³ He who so takes his witness has made clear his faith that God is true.

³⁴ For he whom God has sent says God's words; and God does not give him the Spirit by measure.

²⁹ The bridegroom is the one who has the bride! The best man waits, listening for the bridegroom, and is so happy when he hears the bridegroom's voice—in the same way my happiness is now complete.

³⁰ He must become more important, and I must become less important.”

³¹ He who comes from above is greater than all; he who comes from the earth belongs to the earth and talks about earthly things. He who comes from heaven is greater than all.

³² He gives evidence about what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts what he has to say.

³³ Yet anyone who accepts what he says confirms that God is truthful.

³⁴ For the one God sent speaks God's words, because God doesn't restrict the Spirit.

²⁸ Yee your selues are my witnesses, that I sayde, I am not that Christ, but that I am sent before him.

²⁹ He that hath the bride, is the bridegrome: but the friend of the bridegrome which standeth and heareth him, reioyceth greatly, because of the bridegromes voyce. This my ioy therefore is fulfilled.

³¹ Hee that is come from an hie, is aboue all: he that is of the earth, is of the earth, and speaketh of the earth: hee that is come from heauen, is aboue all.

³² And what hee hath seene and heard, that he testifieth: but no man receiueth his testimonie.

³³ He that hath receiued his testimonie, hath sealed that God is true.

³⁴ For he whom God sent as his messenger gives us God's own teaching, for God does not limit the gift of the Spirit.

³¹ He that cam from aboue, is aboue alle; he that is of the erthe, spekith of the erthe; he that cometh from heuene, is aboue alle.

³³ But he that takith his witnessyng, hath confermyd that God is sothefast.
