John 2:10-20 in English

¹⁰ and saith unto him, Every man setteth on first the good wine; and when men have drunk freely, then that which is worse: thou hast kept the good wine until now.

¹¹ This beginning of his signs did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

¹² After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples; and there they abode not many days.

¹³ And the passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

¹⁴ And he found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:

¹⁵ and he made a scourge of cords, and cast all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen; and he poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew their tables;

¹⁶ and to them that sold the doves he said, Take these things hence; make not my Father’s house a house of merchandise.

¹⁷ His disciples remembered that it was written, Zeal for thy house shall eat me up.

¹⁸ The Jews therefore answered and said unto him, What sign showest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?

¹⁹ Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

²⁰ The Jews therefore said, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou raise it up in three days?

¹⁰ and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first, and then the cheaper wine after the guests have drunk freely, but you have saved the best till now!”

¹¹ Jesus did this beginning of signs in Cana of Galilee. He revealed His glory, and His disciples believed in Him.

¹² After this, He went down to Capernaum with His mother, His brothers, and His disciples, and they stayed there only a few days.

¹³ The time for the Passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

¹⁴ He found in the temple those who sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers doing business.

¹⁵ When He had made a whip of cords, He drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the changers’ money and overturned the tables.

¹⁶ He told those who sold doves, “Take these things away! Don’t make my Father’s house a market place!”

¹⁷ Then His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for Your house will consume me.”

¹⁸ So the Jews answered and asked Him, “What sign do You show to us, since You do these things?”

¹⁹ Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”

²⁰ Then the Jews said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?”

¹⁰ And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

¹⁰ and said to him, “Everyone else serves the best wine first. Then when the guests have drunk so much that they cannot tell the difference, they serve the cheap wine. But you have not done what others do. You have kept the best wine until now!”

¹¹ That was the first miracle that Jesus did. He did it in Cana town, in Galilee district. By doing it he showed how awesome he is, and as a result, we his disciples believed that he truly was the Messiah.

¹² Jesus then went down to Capernaum city with his mother and younger brothers and us his disciples. We stayed there several days.

¹³ Later, when it was almost time for the Jewish Passover celebration, Jesus and we his disciples went up to Jerusalem.

¹⁴ There, in the Temple courtyard, he saw some men who were selling cattle, sheep, and pigeons for sacrifices. He also saw men who were sitting at tables, making a big profit as they gave people Temple tax coins in exchange for their Roman coins.

¹⁵ Then Jesus made a whip from some cords and used it to chase out the sheep and cattle from the Temple courtyard. By overturning their tables he scattered the coins of the men who were exchanging them.

¹⁶ He said to those who were selling doves, “Take these doves away from here! Stop defiling my Father's Temple by making it a market!”

¹⁷ Then we disciples remembered that these words had been written {that someone/David had written these words} in the Scriptures prophesying what the Messiah would say: “Others PRS will strongly oppose me because I greatly desire that people respect your Sacred Tent.”

¹⁸ So one of the Jewish leaders SYN replied to him, “What miracle will you perform to show us that you have authority from God to do these things?”

¹⁹ Jesus replied to them, “If/When you destroy this temple, I will build it again within three days.”

²⁰ So the Jewish leaders SYN said, “We have been building this Temple for forty-six years and it is not finished yet! So ◄there is no way you will build it within three days!/how will you build it within three days?► RHQ”

¹⁰ and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when the guests have drunk freely, then that which is worse. You have kept the good wine until now!”

¹⁶ And to those who were trading in doves he said, Take these things away; do not make my Father's house a market.

¹⁷ And it came to the minds of the disciples that the Writings say, I am on fire with passion for your house.

¹⁸ Then the Jews put this question to him: What sign of authority have you to give us, seeing that you do these things?

¹⁹ And Jesus said to them, Send destruction on this Temple and I will put it up again in three days.

²⁰ The Jews said, The building of this Temple took forty-six years; and you will put it up in three days!

¹⁸ So the Jews answered and said to Him, “What sign do you show us, since you do these things?”

¹⁹ Jesus answered and said to them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it.”

²⁰ So the Jews said, “It took forty-six years to build this temple, and you will raise it in three days?!”

¹⁰ “Everyone serves out the best wine first,” he told him, “and once people have had plenty to drink, then they put out the cheaper wine. But you have kept the best wine till last!”

¹¹ This was the very first of Jesus' miraculous signs, and was performed in Cana of Galilee. Here he revealed his glory, and his disciples put their trust in him.

¹² After this Jesus left for Capernaum with his mother, brothers, and disciples where they stayed for a few days.

¹³ Since it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, Jesus went on to Jerusalem.

¹⁸ The Jewish leaders reacted, asking him, “What right do you have to do this? Show us some miraculous sign to prove it!”

¹⁹ Jesus replied, “Destroy this Temple, and in three days I'll raise it up!”

²⁰ “It took forty-six years to build this Temple, and you're going to raise it up in three days?” the Jewish leaders replied.

¹⁰ And saide vnto him, All men at the beginning set foorth good wine, and when men haue well drunke, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept backe the good wine vntill nowe.

¹¹ This beginning of miracles did Iesus in Cana a towne of Galile, and shewed forth his glorie: and his disciples beleeued on him.

¹² After that, he went downe into Capernaum, he and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: but they continued not many daies there.

¹³ For the Iewes Passeouer was at hande. Therefore Iesus went vp to Hierusalem.

¹⁴ And he found in the Temple those that sold oxen, and sheepe, and doues, and changers of money, sitting there.

¹⁵ Then hee made a scourge of small cordes, and draue them all out of the Temple with the sheepe and oxen, and powred out the changers money, and ouerthrewe the tables,

¹⁶ And said vnto them that solde doues, Take these things hence: make not my fathers house, an house of marchandise.

¹⁸ Then answered the Iewes, and saide vnto him, What signe shewest thou vnto vs, that thou doest these things?

¹⁹ Iesus answered, and said vnto them, Destroy this Temple, and in three daies I will raise it vp againe.

²⁰ Then said the Iewes, Fourtie and sixe yeeres was this Temple a building, and wilt thou reare it vp in three daies?

¹⁸ The Jews Praisers therefore answered him, “What sign do you show us, seeing that you do these things?”

¹⁹ Yeshua Salvation answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”

²⁰ The Jews Praisers therefore said, “It took forty-six years to build this temple! Will you raise it up in three days?”

¹⁰ and sayde vnto him. All men at the beginnynge set forth good wyne and when men be dronke then that which is worsse. But thou hast kept backe the good wyne vntyll now.

¹¹ This beginnynge of miracles dyd Iesus in Cana of Galile and shewed his glory and his disciples beleved on him.

¹³ And the Iewes ester was even at honde and Iesus went vp to Ierusalem

¹⁴ and founde syttynge in the temple those that solde oxen and shepe and doves and chaungers of money.

¹⁵ And he made a scourge of small cordes and drave them all out of the temple with the shepe and oxen and powred oute the changers money and overthrue the tables

¹⁶ and sayde vnto them that solde doves: Have these thinges hence and make not my fathers housse an housse of marchaundyse.

¹⁷ And his disciples remembred how that it was wrytten: the zele of thyne housse hath even eaten me.

¹⁸ Then answered the Iewes and sayde vnto him: what token shewest thou vnto vs seynge that thou dost these thinges?

¹⁹ Iesus answered and sayd vnto them: destroye this temple and in thre dayes I will reare it vp agayne.

²⁰ Then sayde the Iewes: xlvi. yeares was this temple abuyldinge: and wylt thou reare it vp in thre dayes:

¹⁰ and said to him, “Every man serves the good wine first and then the cheaper wine when they are drunk. But you have kept the good wine until now.”

¹¹ This first sign Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and he revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him.

¹² After this Jesus, his mother, his brothers, and his disciples went down to Capernaum and they stayed there for a few days.

¹³ Now the Passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

¹⁴ He found sellers of oxen and sheep and pigeons, and the money changers were sitting there.

¹⁵ So he made a whip of cords and drove all of them out from the temple, including both the sheep and the oxen. He scattered the coins of the money changers and overthrew their tables.

¹⁶ To the pigeon sellers he said, “Take these things away from here. Stop making the house of my Father a marketplace.”

¹⁷ His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for your house will consume me.”

¹⁸ Then the Jewish authorities responded and said to him, “What sign will you show us, since you are doing these things?”

¹⁹ Jesus replied, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”

²⁰ Then the Jewish authorities said, “This temple was built in forty-six years, and you will raise it up in three days?”

¹⁰ and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when the guests have drunk freely, then that which is worse. You have kept the good wine until now!”

¹⁹ Jesus answered, and said to them, Undo ye this temple, and in three days I shall raise it.

¹⁷ And his disciples had mind, for it was written, (or And his disciples remembered, that it is written), The fervent love of thine house hath eaten me. Forsooth his disciples had mind, for it is written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me (or My zeal for thine house hath consumed me).

¹⁸ Therefore the Jews answered, and said to him, What token or What sign showest thou to us, that thou doest these things?

¹⁹ Jesus answered, and said to them, Undo ye this temple (or Destroy this temple), and in three days I shall raise it (up again).

²⁰ Therefore the Jews said to him, In forty and six years this temple was builded, and shalt thou in three days raise it (up again)? (And so the Jews said to him, This Temple took forty-six years to build, and shalt thou raise it up again in three days?)

¹⁰ and seith to hym, Ech man settith first good wiyn, and whanne men ben fulfillid, thanne that that is worse; but thou hast kept the good wiyn `in to this tyme.

¹¹ Jhesus dide this the bigynnyng of signes in the Cane of Galilee, and schewide his glorie; and hise disciplis bileueden in hym.

¹² Aftir these thingis he cam doun to Cafarnaum, and his modir, and hise britheren, and hise disciplis; and thei dwelliden `there not many daies.

¹³ And the pask of Jewis was nyy, and Jhesus wente vp to Jerusalem.

¹⁴ And he foond in the temple men sillynge oxun, and scheep, and culueris, and chaungeris sittynge.

¹⁵ And whanne he hadde maad as it were a scourge of smale cordis, he droof out alle of the temple, and oxun, and scheep; and he schedde the money of chaungeris, and turnede vpsedoun the boordis.

¹⁶ And he seide to hem that selden culueris, Take awei fro hennus these thingis, and nyle ye make the hous of my fadir an hous of marchaundise.

¹⁷ And hise disciplis hadden mynde, for it was writun, The feruent loue of thin hous hath etun me.

¹⁸ Therfor the Jewis answeriden, and seiden to hym, What token schewist thou to vs, that thou doist these thingis?

¹⁹ Jhesus answerde, and seide to hem, Vndo ye this temple, and in thre daies Y schal reise it.

²⁰ Therfor the Jewis seiden to hym, In fourti and sixe yeer this temple was bildid, and schalt thou in thre daies reise it?

¹⁰ and saith to him, 'Every man, at first, the good wine doth set forth; and when they may have drunk freely, then the inferior; thou didst keep the good wine till now.'
