John 21:1-10 in English

¹ After these things Jesus manifested himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and he manifested himself on this wise.

² There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples.

³ Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also come with thee. They went forth, and entered into the boat; and that night they took nothing.

⁴ But when day was now breaking, Jesus stood on the beach: yet the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.

⁵ Jesus therefore saith unto them, Children, have ye aught to eat? They answered him, No.

⁶ And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.

⁷ That disciple therefore whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. So when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his coat about him (for he was naked), and cast himself into the sea.

⁸ But the other disciples came in the little boat (for they were not far from the land, but about two hundred cubits off), dragging the net full of fishes.

⁹ So when they got out upon the land, they see a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread.

¹⁰ Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now taken.

¹ After these things, Jesus showed Himself to the disciples again, at the Sea of Tiberias. He showed Himself in the following way.

² Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples were together.

³ Simon Peter told them, “I’m going fishing.” They said to him, “We’ll go with you, too.” They went out immediately and got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing.

⁴ Now when the morning had come, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples didn’t know that it was Jesus.

⁵ Therefore Jesus asked them, “Children, you don’t have any fish, do you?” “No,” they answered Him.

⁶ He told them, “Cast the net on the right-hand side of the boat, and you’ll find some.” So, they cast the net, and then they were unable to haul it in because of the great number of fish.

⁷ Therefore that disciple who Jesus sincerely loved told Peter, “It’s the Lord!” So when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put his outer garment on (for he had taken it off), and threw himself into the sea.

⁸ The other disciples came in the little boat, for they weren’t far from land, but about two hundred cubits away, dragging the net full of fish.

⁹ So when they came ashore, they saw a charcoal fire already burning, with fish and bread placed on it.

¹⁰ Jesus told them, “Bring some of the fish that you just caught.”

¹ After these things Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on this wise shewed he himself.

⁴ But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.

⁵ Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.

⁶ And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.

⁷ Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher’s coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea.

⁸ And the other disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fishes.

⁹ As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread.

¹ After that, Jesus showed himself to us disciples when we were at Tiberias Lake, which is another name for Galilee Lake. This is what happened:

² Simon Peter, Thomas who was called {whom we called} The Twin, Nathaniel from Cana town in Galilee, my older brother and I, and two other disciples were together.

³ Simon Peter said to us, “ I am going to try to catch some fish.” We said, “We will go with you.” So we went down to the lake and got into the boat. But that night we caught nothing.

⁴ Early the next morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but we did not know that it was Jesus.

⁵ He called out to us, “My friends, you have not caught any fish, have you?” We answered, “You are correct, we have not caught any.”

⁶ He said to us, “Throw your net out from the right-hand side of the boat! Then you will find some!” We did that, and we caught so many fish in the net that we were unable to pull the net into the boat!

⁷ But I knew that it was Jesus, so I said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” Peter had taken off his cloak while he was working, but as soon as he heard me say “It is the Lord!” he wrapped his cloak around himself and jumped into the water and swam to shore.

⁸ The rest of us came to the shore in the boat, pulling the net full of fish. We were not far from shore, only about a hundred yards/meters.

⁹ When we got to the shore, we saw that there was a fire of burning coals there, with a large fish on the fire, and some buns.

¹⁰ Jesus said to us, “Bring some of the fish that you have just caught!”

¹ After these things, Jesus revealed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias. He revealed himself this way.

³ Simon Peter said to them, I am going fishing. They said to him, And we will come with you. They went out and got into the boat; but that night they took no fish.

⁴ Now very early in the morning Jesus was there by the edge of the sea (though the disciples were not conscious that it was Jesus).

⁵ So Jesus said to them, Children, have you taken any fish? They made answer, No.

⁶ And he said to them, Let down the net on the right side of the boat and you will get some. So they put it in the water and now they were not able to get it up again because of the great number of fish.

⁷ So the disciple who was dear to Jesus said to Peter, It is the Lord! Hearing that it was the Lord, Peter put his coat round him (because he was not clothed) and went into the sea.

⁸ And the other disciples came in the little boat (they were not far from land, only about two hundred cubits off) pulling the net full of fish.

⁹ When they got to land, they saw a fire of coals there, with fish cooking on it, and bread.

¹⁰ Jesus said to them, Get some of the fish which you have now taken.

¹ After these things Jesus manifested himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias. And he manifested himself thus.

⁷ That disciple therefore whom Jesus loved says to Peter, It is the Lord. Simon Peter therefore, having heard that it was the Lord, girded his overcoat on him (for he was naked), and cast himself into the sea;

⁸ and the other disciples came in the small boat, for they were not far from the land, but somewhere about two hundred cubits, dragging the net of fishes.

⁹ When therefore they went out on the land, they see a fire of coals there, and fish laid on it, and bread.

¹⁰ Jesus says to them, Bring of the fishes which ye have now taken.

¹ After this, Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias. And he shewed himself after this manner.

³ Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We are coming with you also.” They went out and immediately got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing.

⁴ But as daybreak had already come, Jesus stood upon the shore; however the disciples did not know that it was Jesus.

⁵ Then Jesus said to them, “Children, have you any food?” They answered Him, “No.”

⁶ And He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” Therefore they cast, and they were not able to haul it in because of the multitude of fish.

⁷ Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it), and he threw himself into the sea.

⁸ But the other disciples came in the little boat (for they were not far from the land, but about two hundred cubits), dragging the net with fish.

⁹ Then as they got off onto the land, they saw a charcoal fire laid there, and fish placed on it, and bread.

¹⁰ Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish which you have just caught.”

¹ After these things Jesus, risen from the dead, revealed Himself to His disciples at the Sea of Tiberias, and He did it like this:

² Simon Peter, Thomas (called Twin), Nathanael (from Cana of Galilee), Zebedee's sons and two others of His disciples were together.

³ Simon Peter says to them, “I'm going fishing.” They say to him, “We're coming with you.” Off they went and got right into the boat, and that whole night they caught nothing.

⁴ Well when daybreak had now come Jesus stood on the beach; however the disciples did not know that it was Jesus.

⁵ Then Jesus says to them, “Boys, you don't have any food, do you?” They answered Him, “No.”

⁶ So He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat and you will find.” So they did, and now they were unable to haul it in because of the multitude of fish!

⁷ Then that disciple whom Jesus loved says to Peter, “It's the Lord!” Upon hearing that it was the Lord, Simon Peter tied on his outer garment (for he was stripped) and plunged into the sea.

⁸ But the other disciples came in the little boat dragging the net with the fish (for they were not far from the land, but about 100 yards).

⁹ Then, as they stepped onto the land they saw a charcoal fire in place with fish lying on it, and bread.

¹⁰ Jesus says to them, “Bring some of the fish that you have just caught.”

¹ Later Jesus appeared again to the disciples by the Sea of Galilee. This is how it happened.

² Simon Peter, Thomas the Twin, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and Zebedee's sons, and two other disciples were together.

³ “I'm going fishing,” Simon Peter said to them. “We'll come with you,” they replied. So they left and went out in the boat, but all night they caught nothing.

⁴ When dawn came Jesus was standing on the shore, but the disciples didn't know it was him.

⁵ Jesus called to them, “My friends, haven't you caught anything?” “No,” they replied.

⁶ “Throw the net out on the right side of the boat, and you'll find some,” he told them. So they threw out the net, and they weren't able to haul it in because it had so many fish.

⁷ The disciple Jesus loved said to Peter, “It's the Lord.” When Peter heard it was the Lord, he put some clothes on since he was naked, and jumped into the sea.

⁸ The other disciples followed in the boat, pulling the net full of fish, because they were not far from the shore, only about a hundred yards.

⁹ Once they'd landed they saw a fire with fish cooking on it, and some bread.

¹⁰ Jesus told them, “Bring some of the fish you've just caught.”

¹ After these things, Iesus shewed himselfe againe to his disciples at the sea of Tiberias: and thus shewed he himselfe:

² There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas, which is called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galile, and the sonnes of Zebedeus, and two other of his disciples.

³ Simon Peter said vnto them, I go a fishing. They said vnto him, We also will goe with thee. They went their way and entred into a ship straightway, and that night caught they nothing.

⁴ But when the morning was nowe come, Iesus stoode on the shore: neuerthelesse the disciples knewe not that it was Iesus.

⁵ Iesus then said vnto them, Syrs, haue ye any meate? They answered him, No.

⁶ Then he said vnto them, Cast out the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall finde. So they cast out, and they were not able at all to draw it, for the multitude of fishes.

⁷ Therefore said the disciple whom Iesus loued, vnto Peter, It is the Lord. When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girded his coate to him (for he was naked) and cast himselfe into the sea.

⁸ But the other disciples came by shippe (for they were not farre from land, but about two hundreth cubites) and they drewe the net with fishes.

⁹ Assoone then as they were come to land, they sawe hoate coales, and fish laide thereon, and bread.

¹⁰ Iesus saide vnto them, Bring of the fishes, which ye haue nowe caught.

¹ After these things Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on this wise shewed he himself.

² It was in this way, — Simon Peter, Thomas, who was called ‘The Twin,’ Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, Zebedee's sons, and two other disciples of Jesus, were together, when Simon Peter said,

³ “I am going fishing.” “We will come with you,” said the others. They went out and got into the boat, but caught nothing that night.

¹ Later on, Jesus showed himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias.

² It was in this way, — Simon Peter, Thomas, who was called ‘The Twin,’ Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, Zebedee's sons, and two other disciples of Jesus, were together, when Simon Peter said,

³ “I am going fishing.” “We will come with you,” said the others. They went out and got into the boat, but caught nothing that night.

⁸ But the other disciples came in the little boat (for they were not far from the land, but about two hundred cubits away 300 ft; 914.4 m), dragging the net full of fish.

⁹ So when they got out on the land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid on it, and bread.

¹⁰ Yeshua Salvation said to them, “Bring some of the fish which you have just caught.”

¹ After that Iesus shewed him selfe agayne at the see of Tyberias. And on this wyse shewed he him selfe.

³ Simon Peter sayde vnto them: I goo a fysshynge. They sayde vnto him: we also will goo with the. They wet their waye and entred into a shippe strayght waye and that nyght caught they nothinge.

⁴ But when the mornynge was now come Iesus stode on the shore: neverthelesse the disciples knewe not that it was Iesus.

⁵ Iesus sayde vnto the: syrs have ye eny meate? They answered him no.

⁶ And he sayde vnto them: cast out the net on the ryght syde of the ship and ye shall fynde. They cast out and anone they were not able to drawe it for the multitude of fysshes

⁷ Then sayde the disciple whom Iesus loved vnto Peter: It is the Lorde. When Simon Peter hearde that it was the lorde he gyrde his mantell to him (for he was naked) and sprange into the see.

⁸ The other disciples came by ship: for they were not farre from londe but as it were two hondred cubites and they drewe the net with fysshes.

⁹ Assone as they were come to londe they sawe hoot coles and fysshe layd ther on and breed.

¹⁰ Iesus sayde vnto them: bringe of the fysshe which ye have now caught.

¹ After these things Jesus showed himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias. This is how he showed himself:

² Simon Peter was together with Thomas called Didymus, Nathaniel from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples of Jesus.

³ Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We, too, will come with you.” They went and got into a boat, but they caught nothing during the whole night.

⁴ Now, when it was already early in the morning, Jesus stood on the beach, but the disciples did not know it was Jesus.

⁵ So Jesus said to them, “Young men, do you have anything to eat?” They answered him, “No.”

⁶ He said to them, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they threw their net and were not able to draw it in because of the large number of fish.

⁷ Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord.” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he tied up his outer garment (for he was undressed), and threw himself into the sea.

⁸ The other disciples came in the boat (for they were not far from the land, about two hundred cubits off), and they were pulling the net full of fish.

⁹ When they got out upon the land, they saw a charcoal fire there and fish laid on it, with bread.

¹⁰ Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish that you have just caught.”

¹ After these things, Jesus revealed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias. He revealed himself this way.

⁷ Therefore that disciple, whom Jesus loved, said to Peter, It is the Lord. Simon Peter, when he had heard that it is the Lord, girt him with a coat, for he was naked, and went into the sea.

⁸ But the other disciples came by boat, for they were not far from the land, but as a two hundred cubits or as it were two hundred cubits, drawing the net of fishes.

⁹ And as they came down into the land, they saw coals lying, and fish laid on, and bread.

¹⁰ Jesus saith to them, Bring ye of the fishes, which ye have taken now.

¹ Afterward Jesus again showed him(self) to his disciples, at the sea of Tiberias (or at the Sea of Galilee, that is, Lake Galilee). And he showed him(self) thus.

² There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas, that is said Didymus (or who is called the Twin), and Nathanael, that was of the Cana of Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and twain other of his disciples (or and two other disciples of Jesus).

³ Simon Peter saith to them, I (shall) go to fish. They say to him, And we (shall) come with thee. And they went out, and went into a boat. And in that night they took nothing.

¹ Afterward Jhesus eftsoone schewide hym to hise disciplis, at the see of Tiberias.

² And he schewide him thus. There weren togidere Symount Petre, and Thomas, that is seid Didimus, and Nathanael, that was of the Cane of Galilee, and the sones of Zebedee, and tweyne othere of hise disciplis.

³ Symount Petre seith to hem, Y go to fische. Thei seyn to hym, And we comen with thee. And `thei wenten out, `and wenten in to a boot. And in that niyt thei token no thing.

⁴ But whanne the morewe was comun, Jhesus stood in the brenke; netheles the disciplis knewen not, that it was Jhesus.

⁵ Therfor Jhesus seith to hem, Children, whethir ye han ony souping thing? Thei answeriden to hym, Nay. He seide to hem,

⁶ Putte ye the nett in to the riyt half of the rowing, and ye schulen fynde. And thei puttiden the nett; and thanne thei miyten not drawe it for multitude of fischis.

⁷ Therfor thilke disciple, whom Jhesus louede, seide to Petre, It is the Lord. Symount Petre, whanne he hadde herd that it is the Lord, girte hym with a coote, for he was nakid, and wente in to the see.

⁸ But the othere disciplis camen bi boot, for thei weren not fer fro the lond, but as a two hundrid cubitis, drawinge the nett of fischis.

⁹ And as thei camen doun in to the lond, thei sayn coolis liynge, and a fisch leid on, and breed.

¹⁰ Jhesus seith to hem, Bringe ye of the fyschis, whiche ye han takun now.

¹ After these things did Jesus manifest himself again to the disciples on the sea of Tiberias, and he did manifest himself thus:

² There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas who is called Didymus, and Nathanael from Cana of Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples.

³ Simon Peter saith to them, 'I go away to fish;' they say to him, 'We go — we also — with thee;' they went forth and entered into the boat immediately, and on that night they caught nothing.

⁴ And morning being now come, Jesus stood at the shore, yet indeed the disciples did not know that it is Jesus;

⁵ Jesus, therefore, saith to them, 'Lads, have ye any meat?'

⁶ they answered him, 'No;' and he said to them, 'Cast the net at the right side of the boat, and ye shall find;' they cast, therefore, and no longer were they able to draw it, from the multitude of the fishes.

⁷ That disciple, therefore, whom Jesus was loving saith to Peter, 'The Lord it is!' Simon Peter, therefore, having heard that it is the Lord, did gird on the outer coat, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea;

⁸ and the other disciples came by the little boat, for they were not far from the land, but as it were about two hundred cubits off, dragging the net of the fishes;

⁹ when, therefore, they came to the land, they behold a fire of coals lying, and a fish lying on it, and bread.

¹⁰ Jesus saith to them, 'Bring ye from the fishes that ye caught now;'
