John 20:2-8 in English

² She runneth therefore, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we know not where they have laid him.

³ Peter therefore went forth, and the other disciple, and they went toward the tomb.

⁴ And they ran both together: and the other disciple outran Peter, and came first to the tomb;

⁵ and stooping and looking in, he seeth the linen cloths lying; yet entered he not in.

⁶ Simon Peter therefore also cometh, following him, and entered into the tomb; and he beholdeth the linen cloths lying,

⁷ and the napkin, that was upon his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but rolled up in a place by itself.

⁸ Then entered in therefore the other disciple also, who came first to the tomb, and he saw, and believed.

² Then she ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, who Jesus loved, and told them, “They’ve taken the Lord away, out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they’ve laid Him!”

³ Then Peter and the other disciple went out, and were going to the tomb.

⁴ They both ran together, and the other disciple outran Peter and came to the tomb first.

⁵ Stooping down and looking in, He saw the strips of linen lying there, but he didn’t go in.

⁶ Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there,

⁷ and the handkerchief that had been around His head, not lying with the strips of linen, but folded together in a place by itself.

⁸ Then the other disciple, who came to the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed.

² So Mary ran to where Simon Peter and I were staying in Jerusalem. She said to us, “They have taken the Lord's body out of the burial cave, and we do not know where they have put it!”

³ So Peter and I started going to the cave.

⁴ We were both running, but I ran faster than Peter and got there first.

⁵ I stooped down at the entrance and looked inside. I saw the strips of linen cloth lying there where his body had been laid, but I did not go inside.

⁶ Then Simon Peter, who was running behind me, arrived. He went inside the cave. He, too, saw the strips of linen cloth lying there.

⁷ He also saw the cloth that they had wrapped around Jesus' head. It had been folded and put {Someone had folded it and put it} aside, separate from the linen strips.

⁸ Then I also went inside. I saw those things and I believed that Jesus had truly become alive again.

² Therefore she ran and came to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have laid him!”

³ Therefore Peter and the other disciple went out, and they went toward the tomb.

⁴ They both ran together. The other disciple outran Peter and came to the tomb first.

⁵ Stooping and looking in, he saw the linen cloths lying there; yet he didn’t enter in.

⁶ Then Simon Peter came, following him, and entered into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying,

³ So Peter and the other disciple went out to the place of the dead.

⁴ They went running together, and the other disciple got in front of Peter and came first to the hole in the rock;

⁵ And looking in, he saw the linen bands on the earth; but he did not go in,

⁶ Then Simon Peter came after him and went into the hole in the rock; and he saw the linen bands on the earth,

⁷ And the cloth, which had been round his head, not with the linen bands but rolled up in a place by itself.

⁸ Then the other disciple who came there first went in; and he saw and belief came to him.

² She runs therefore and comes to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, to whom Jesus was attached, and says to them, They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we know not where they have laid him.

³ Peter therefore went forth, and the other disciple, and came to the tomb.

⁴ And the two ran together, and the other disciple ran forward faster than Peter, and came first to the tomb,

⁵ and stooping down he sees the linen cloths lying; he did not however go in.

⁶ Simon Peter therefore comes, following him, and entered into the tomb, and sees the linen cloths lying,

⁷ and the handkerchief which was upon his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but folded up in a distinct place by itself.

⁸ Then entered in therefore the other disciple also who came first to the tomb, and he saw and believed;

³ So Peter and the other disciple took off, heading for the tomb.

⁴ Well the two started running together, and the other disciple outran Peter and got to the tomb first.

⁵ And stooping to look he sees the linen strips lying there; however he did not go in.

⁶ Then following him comes Simon Peter and went into the tomb; and he sees the linen strips lying there,

⁷ and the facecloth that had been on His head not lying with the linen strips, but folded up in a separate place.

⁸ So then the other disciple went in too, the one who got to the tomb first; and he saw and believed.

² So she ran to tell Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, “They've taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don't know where they've put him.”

³ Then Peter and the other disciple went to the tomb.

⁴ The two of them were running together, but the other disciple ran faster and reached the tomb first.

⁵ He bent down, and looking in he saw the grave-clothes lying there, but he didn't go in.

⁶ Then Simon Peter arrived after him and went right into the tomb. He saw the linen grave-clothes lying there,

⁷ and that the cloth that had been on Jesus' head wasn't with the other grave-clothes but had been folded and placed on its own.

⁸ Then the other disciple who had reached the tomb first went inside as well.

² Then she ranne, and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple whom Iesus loued, and saide vnto them, They haue taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we knowe not where they haue laid him.

³ Peter therefore went forth, and the other disciple, and they came vnto the sepulchre.

⁴ So they ranne both together, but the other disciple did outrunne Peter, and came first to the sepulchre.

⁵ And he stouped downe, and sawe the linnen clothes lying: yet went he not in.

⁶ Then came Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and sawe the linnen clothes lye,

⁷ And the kerchiefe that was vpon his head, not lying with the linnen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by it selfe.

⁸ Then went in also the other disciple, which came first to the sepulchre, and he sawe it, and beleeued.

⁸ Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, went inside too, and he saw for himself and was convinced.

² So she came running to Simon Peter, and to that other disciple who was Jesus' friend, and said to them, “They have taken away the Master out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him!”

³ So, Peter started off with that other disciple, and they went to the tomb.

⁴ The two began running together; but the other disciple ran faster than Peter, and reached the tomb first.

⁵ Stooping down, he saw the linen wrappings lying there, but did not go in.

⁶ Presently Simon Peter came following behind him, and went into the tomb; and he looked at the linen wrappings lying there,

⁷ and the cloth which had been on Jesus' head, not lying with the wrappings, but rolled up on one side, separately.

⁸ Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, went inside too, and he saw for himself and was convinced.

² Therefore she ran and came to Simeon Peter Hearing Rock, and to the other disciple whom Yeshua Salvation phileo ·affectionate loved, had high regard for·, and said to them, “They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have laid him!”

³ Therefore Peter Rock and the other disciple went out, and they went toward the tomb.

⁴ They both ran together. The other disciple outran Peter Rock, and came to the tomb first.

⁵ Stooping and looking in, he saw the linen cloths lying, yet he didn’t enter in.

⁶ Then Simeon Peter Hearing Rock came, following him, and entered into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying,

⁷ and the cloth that had been on his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but rolled up in a place by itself.

⁸ So then the other disciple who came first to the tomb also entered in, and he saw and believed.

² Then she ranne and came to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whome Iesus loved and sayde vnto them. They have taken awaye the Lorde out of the toumbe and we cannot tell where they have layde him.

³ Peter went forth and that other disciple and came vnto the sepulcre.

⁴ They ranne bothe to gether and that other disciple dyd out runne Peter and came fyrst to the sepulcre.

⁵ And he stouped doune and sawe the lynnen clothes lyinge yet wet he not in.

⁶ Then came Simon Peter folowynge him and went into the sepulcre and sawe the lynnen clothes lye

⁷ and the napkyn that was aboute his heed not lyinge with the lynnen clothe but wrapped togeder in a place by it selfe.

⁸ Then went in also that other disciple which came fyrst to the sepulcre and he sawe and beleved.

² So she ran and came to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and she said to them, “They took away the Lord out from the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.”

³ Then Peter and the other disciple went out, and they went to the tomb.

⁴ They both ran together, and the other disciple quickly ran ahead of Peter and arrived at the tomb first.

⁵ Then stooping down, he saw the linen cloths lying there, but he did not go inside.

⁶ Simon Peter then arrived after him and went into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there

⁷ and the cloth that had been on his head. It was not lying with the linen cloths but was folded up in a place by itself.

⁸ Then the other disciple, the one who first arrived at the tomb, also went in, and he saw and believed.

² Therefore she ran and came to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have laid him!”

⁵ And when he stooped, he saw the sheets lying, nevertheless he entered not.

⁶ Therefore Simon Peter came pur-suing him, and he entered into the grave, and he saw the sheets laid,

⁷ and the sudarium that was on his head, not laid with the sheets, but by itself wrapped into a place.

⁸ Therefore then that disciple that came first to the grave, entered, and saw, and believed.

² Therefore she ran, and came to Simon Peter, and to another disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith to them, They have taken (away) the Lord from the grave, (or and said to them, They have taken the Lord away from the tomb), and we know not, where they have laid him.

³ Therefore Peter went out, and that other disciple, and they came to the grave. (And so Peter went out, and that other disciple, and they came to the tomb.)

⁴ And they twain ran together, and that other disciple ran before Peter, and came first to the grave. (And the two men ran together, and that other disciple ran before Peter, and came to the tomb first.)

⁵ And when he stooped (down), he saw the sheets lying (there), nevertheless he entered not (or but he did not go in).

⁶ Therefore Simon Peter came (pur)suing him, and he entered into the grave, and he saw the sheets laid (there), (And so Simon Peter came following behind him, and he entered into the tomb, and he saw the sheets laid there,)

⁷ and the sudarium that was on his head, not laid with the sheets, but by itself wrapped into a place (or but rolled up in a place by itself).

⁸ Therefore then that disciple that came first to the grave, entered, and saw, and believed. (And then that disciple who first came to the tomb, entered, and saw everything, and believed.)

² Therfor sche ran, and cam to Symount Petre, and to another disciple, whom Jhesus louede, and seith to hem, Thei han takun the Lord fro the graue, and we witen not, where thei han leid hym.

³ Therfor Petre wente out, and thilke other disciple, and thei camen to the graue.

⁴ And thei tweyne runnen togidre, and thilke othere disciple ran bifor Petre, and cam first to the graue.

⁵ And whanne he stoupide, he sai the schetis liynge, netheles he entride not.

⁶ Therfor Symount Petre cam suynge hym, and he entride in to the graue, and he say the schetis leid,

⁷ and the sudarie that was on his heed, not leid with the schetis, but bi it silf wlappid in to a place.

⁸ Therfor thanne thilke disciple that cam first to the graue, entride, and sai, and bileuede.

² she runneth, therefore, and cometh unto Simon Peter, and unto the other disciple whom Jesus was loving, and saith to them, 'They took away the Lord out of the tomb, and we have not known where they laid him.'

³ Peter, therefore, went forth, and the other disciple, and they were coming to the tomb,

⁴ and the two were running together, and the other disciple did run forward more quickly than Peter, and came first to the tomb,

⁵ and having stooped down, seeth the linen clothes lying, yet, indeed, he entered not.

⁶ Simon Peter, therefore, cometh, following him, and he entered into the tomb, and beholdeth the linen clothes lying,

⁷ and the napkin that was upon his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but apart, having been folded up, in one place;

⁸ then, therefore, entered also the other disciple who came first unto the tomb, and he saw, and did believe;
