³⁹ He saith unto them, Come, and ye shall see. They came therefore and saw where he abode; and they abode with him that day: it was about the tenth hour.

⁴⁰ One of the two that heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.

⁴¹ He findeth first his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messiah (which is, being interpreted, Christ).

⁴² He brought him unto Jesus. Jesus looked upon him, and said, Thou art Simon the son of John: thou shalt be called Cephas (which is by interpretation, Peter).

⁴³ On the morrow he was minded to go forth into Galilee, and he findeth Philip: and Jesus saith unto him, Follow me.

⁴⁴ Now Philip was from Bethsaida, of the city of Andrew and Peter.

⁴⁵ Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

⁴⁶ And Nathanael said unto him, Can any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.

⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!

⁴⁸ Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.

⁴⁹ Nathanael answered him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art King of Israel.

⁵⁰ Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee underneath the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.

⁵¹ And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye shall see the heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.

⁴⁰ Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus.

⁴¹ The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother, Simon, and tell him, “We have found the Messiah” (that is, translated, the Christ).

⁴² Andrew brought Simon to Jesus. Jesus looked at him, and said, “You are Simon the son of Jonah. You will be called Cephas” (which is translated Peter).

⁴³ The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, he told him, “Follow me.”

⁴⁴ Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.

⁴⁵ Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found Him who Moses in the Law, and also the prophets, wrote about — Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”

⁴⁶ Nathanael asked Philip, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip told Nathanael, “Come and see.”

⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him, and said of Nathanael, “Look! An Israelite indeed, who has no deceit in him!”

⁴⁸ Nathanael asked Him, “How do You know me?” Jesus answered, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”

⁴⁹ Nathanael answered, “Rabbi, You are God’s Son. You are the King of Israel.”

⁵⁰ Jesus said to him, “Because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe? You will see greater things than these.”

⁵¹ And He told him, “Most assuredly, I tell you, you will see Heaven opened, and God’s angels ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”

⁵¹ And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye shall see the heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.

³⁹ He replied, “Come with me, and you will see where I am staying!” So we/they went with him and saw where he was staying. We/They stayed with him until about 4 o'clock (OR, from about 4 PM until the next day).

⁴⁰ ◄One of us/One of the two men► who heard what John had said and who went with Jesus was Andrew, Simon Peter's younger brother.

⁴¹ After Andrew left Jesus, the first thing he did was to find his own older brother Simon and say to him, “We have found the Messiah!”

⁴² Then he took Simon to Jesus. Jesus looked intently at him, and then said, “You are Simon. Your father's name is John. You will be given { I will give you} the name Cephas.” Cephas is an Aramaic name that means ❛solid rock❜. It means the same in Greek as the name Peter.

⁴³ The next day Jesus decided to leave the Jordan River valley. He went to Galilee district and (OR, on the way there he) found a man named Philip. Jesus said to him, “Come with me!”

⁴⁴ Philip and Andrew and Peter were all from Bethsaida town.

⁴⁵ Then Philip searched for Nathaniel and found him, and said to him, “We have met the Messiah, the one Moses wrote about! The prophets also prophesied that he would come. He is Jesus, from Nazareth town. His father's name is Joseph.”

⁴⁶ Nathaniel replied, “Nazareth? ◄Nothing good can come from such an unimportant place!/Can anything good come from such an unimportant place?► RHQ” Philip replied, “Come and see!”

⁴⁷ When Jesus saw Nathaniel approaching, he said about Nathaniel, “Here is an example of a good Israelite! He never deceives anyone!”

⁴⁸ Nathaniel asked him, “How do you know what I am like?” Jesus replied, “I saw you before Philip called you, when you were by yourself under the fig tree.”

⁴⁹ Then Nathaniel declared, “Teacher, you must be ◄the Son of God/the person who is both God and man►! You are the King of Israel we have been waiting for!”

⁵⁰ Jesus replied to him, “You RHQ believe those things about me because I told you I saw you when you were under the fig tree. I was able to see you supernaturally even though I was far away from you. But you will see me do things that are more surprising than that!”

⁵¹ Then Jesus said to him, “This is the absolute truth: Just like what your ancestor Jacob saw long ago in a vision, some day you (pl) will see heaven opened up, and you will see God's angels ascending from me and descending on me, the one who came from heaven.”

³⁹ He said to them, “Come and see.” They came and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day. It was about the tenth hour.

⁴⁰ Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, was one of the two men who, hearing what John said, went after Jesus.

⁴¹ Early in the morning he came across his brother and said to him, We have made discovery! It is the Messiah! (which is to say, the Christ).

⁴² And he took him to Jesus. Looking at him fixedly Jesus said, You are Simon, the son of John; your name will be Cephas (which is to say, Peter).

⁴³ The day after this, Jesus had a desire to go into Galilee. He came across Philip and said to him, Come and be my disciple.

⁴⁴ Now Philip's town was Beth-saida, where Andrew and Peter came from.

⁴⁵ Philip came across Nathanael and said to him, We have made a discovery! It is he of whom Moses, in the law, and the prophets were writing, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

⁴⁶ Nazareth! said Nathanael, Is it possible for any good to come out of Nazareth? Philip said to him, Come and see.

⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him and said of him, See, here is a true son of Israel in whom there is nothing false.

⁴⁸ Nathanael said to him, Where did you get knowledge of me? In answer Jesus said, Before Philip was talking with you, while you were still under the fig-tree, I saw you.

⁴⁹ Nathanael said to him, Rabbi, you are the Son of God, you are King of Israel!

⁵⁰ In answer Jesus said to him, You have faith because I said to you, I saw you under the fig-tree. You will see greater things than these.

⁵¹ And he said to him, Truly I say to you all, You will see heaven opening and God's angels going up and coming down on the Son of man.

⁴⁵ Philip finds Nathanael, and says to him, We have found him of whom Moses wrote in the law, and the prophets, Jesus, the son of Joseph, who is from Nazareth.

⁴⁵ Philip finds Nathanael and says to him, “We have found the One of whom Moses in the Law—and also the prophets—wrote: Jesus the son of Joseph, from Natsareth.”

⁴⁶ So Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Natsareth?” Philip says to him, “Come and see!”

⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him and says about him, “There, a genuine Israelite in whom there is no deceit!”

⁴⁸ Nathanael says to Him, “From where do You know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, while you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”

⁴⁹ In answer Nathanael says to Him: “Rabbi, You are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!”

⁵⁰ Jesus answered and said to him: “You believe because I said that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater than these.”

⁵¹ And He says to him, “I tell you (pl) most assuredly, later on you will see the heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of the Man.”

³⁹ “Come and see,” he told them. So they went with him and saw where he was staying. It was about four p.m., and they spent the rest of the day with him.

⁴⁰ Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of these two disciples who had heard what John said and followed Jesus.

⁴¹ He went at once to find his brother Simon and told him, “We've found the Messiah!” (which means “Christ”).

⁴² He took him to Jesus. Looking directly at Simon, Jesus said, “You are Simon, son of John. But now you will be called Cephas,” (which means “Peter”).

⁴³ The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. Jesus found Philip there, and told him, “Follow me.”

⁴⁴ Philip was from Bethsaida, the same town that Andrew and Peter came from.

⁴⁵ Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We've found the one that Moses wrote about in the law and that the prophets did too—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”

⁴⁶ “From Nazareth? Can anything good come from there?” Nathanael wondered. “Just come and see,” Philip replied.

⁴⁷ As Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said about him, “Look, here's a true Israelite! There's nothing false about him.”

⁴⁸ “How do you know who I am?” Nathanael asked. “I saw you there under the fig tree, before Philip called you,” Jesus replied.

⁴⁹ “Rabbi, you are the Son of God, the king of Israel!” Nathaniel exclaimed.

⁵⁰ “You believe this just because I told you I saw you under the fig tree?” Jesus replied. “You'll get to see much more than that!”

⁵¹ Then Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, you will all see heaven open, and the angels of God going up and down on the Son of man.”

³⁹ He saide vnto them, Come, and see. They came and sawe where hee dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth houre.

⁴⁰ Andrew, Simon Peters brother, was one of the two which had heard it of Iohn, and that followed him.

⁴¹ The same founde his brother Simon first, and said vnto him, We haue founde that Messias, which is by interpretation, that Christ.

⁴² And he brought him to Iesus. And Iesus behelde him, and saide, Thou art Simon the sonne of Iona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, a stone.

⁴³ The day following, Iesus woulde goe into Galile, and founde Philip, and said vnto him, Followe me.

⁴⁴ Nowe Philip was of Bethsaida, the citie of Andrew and Peter.

⁴⁵ Philippe founde Nathanael, and saide vnto him, Wee haue founde him of whom Moses did write in the Lawe, and the Prophetes, Iesus that sonne of Ioseph, that was of Nazareth.

⁴⁶ Then Nathanael sayde vnto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saide to him, Come, and see.

⁴⁷ Iesus sawe Nathanael comming to him, and saide of him, Beholde in deede an Israelite, in whom is no guile.

⁴⁸ Nathanael sayde vnto him, Whence knewest thou mee? Iesus answered, and sayd vnto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast vnder the figge tree, I sawe thee.

⁴⁰ And Andrewe, the brother of Symount Petir, was oon of the tweyne, that herden of Joon, and hadden sued hym.

⁴¹ This foond first his brother Symount, and he seide to him, We han foundun Messias, that is to seie, Crist; and he ledde him to Jhesu.

⁴² And Jhesus bihelde hym, and seide, Thou art Symount, the sone of Johanna; thou schalt be clepid Cefas, that is to seie, Petre.

⁴³ And on the morewe he wolde go out in to Galilee, and he foond Filip; and he seith to hym, Sue thou me.

⁴⁴ Filip was of Bethsaida, the citee of Andrew and of Petre.

⁴⁵ Filip foond Nathanael, and seide to hym, We han foundun Jhesu, the sone of Joseph, of Nazareth, whom Moyses wroot in the lawe and profetis.

⁴⁶ And Nathanael seide to hym, Of Nazareth may sum good thing be?

⁴⁷ Filip seide to hym, Come, and se. Jhesus siy Nathanael comynge to hym, and seide to hym, Lo! verili a man of Israel, in whom is no gile.

⁴⁸ Nathanael seide to hym, Wherof hast thou knowun me? Jhesus `answerde, and seide to hym, Bifor that Filip clepide thee, whanne thou were vndur the fige tree, Y saiy thee. Nathanael answerde to hym,

⁴⁹ `and seide, Rabi, thou art the sone of God, thou art kyng of Israel.

⁵⁰ Jhesus answerde, and seide to hym, For Y seide to thee, Y sawy thee vndur the fige tre, thou bileuest; thou schalt se more than these thingis.

⁵¹ And he seide to hem, Treuli, treuli, Y seie to you, ye schulen se heuene opened, and the aungels of God stiynge vp and comynge doun on mannys sone.

³⁹ He saith to them, 'Come and see;' they came, and saw where he doth remain, and with him they remained that day and the hour was about the tenth.

⁴⁰ Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two who heard from John, and followed him;

⁴¹ this one doth first find his own brother Simon, and saith to him, 'We have found the Messiah,' (which is, being interpreted, The Anointed,)

⁴² and he brought him unto Jesus: and having looked upon him, Jesus saith, 'Thou art Simon, the son of Jonas, thou shalt be called Cephas,' (which is interpreted, A rock.)

⁴³ On the morrow, he willed to go forth to Galilee, and he findeth Philip, and saith to him, 'Be following me.'

⁴⁴ And Philip was from Bethsaida, of the city of Andrew and Peter;

⁴⁵ Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith to him, 'Him of whom Moses wrote in the Law, and the prophets, we have found, Jesus the son of Joseph, who is from Nazareth;'

⁴⁶ and Nathanael said to him, 'Out of Nazareth is any good thing able to be?' Philip said to him, 'Come and see.'

⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathanael coming unto him, and he saith concerning him, 'Lo, truly an Israelite, in whom guile is not;'

⁴⁸ Nathanael saith to him, 'Whence me dost thou know?' Jesus answered and said to him, 'Before Philip's calling thee — thou being under the fig-tree — I saw thee.'

⁴⁹ Nathanael answered and saith to him, 'Rabbi, thou art the Son of God, thou art the king of Israel.'

⁵⁰ Jesus answered and said to him, 'Because I said to thee, I saw thee under the fig-tree, thou dost believe; greater things than these thou shalt see;'

⁵¹ and he saith to him, 'Verily, verily, I say to you, henceforth ye shall see the heaven opened, and the messengers of God going up and coming down upon the Son of Man.'
