² And during supper, the devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him,

³ Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he came forth from God, and goeth unto God,

⁴ riseth from supper, and layeth aside his garments; and he took a towel, and girded himself.

⁵ Then he poureth water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.

⁶ So he cometh to Simon Peter. He saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?

⁷ Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt understand hereafter.

⁸ Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.

⁹ Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.

¹⁰ Jesus saith to him, He that is bathed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.

¹¹ For he knew him that should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean.

¹² So when he had washed their feet, and taken his garments, and sat down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?

¹³ Ye call me, Teacher, and, Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.

¹⁴ If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, ye also ought to wash one another’s feet.

¹⁵ For I have given you an example, that ye also should do as I have done to you.

¹⁶ Verily, verily, I say unto you, A servant is not greater than his lord; neither one that is sent greater than he that sent him.

¹⁷ If ye know these things, blessed are ye if ye do them.

¹⁸ I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth my bread lifted up his heel against me.

¹⁹ From henceforth I tell you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I am he.

²⁰ Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

²¹ When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in the spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.

²² The disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake.

²³ There was at the table reclining in Jesus’ bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.

²⁴ Simon Peter therefore beckoneth to him, and saith unto him, Tell us who it is of whom he speaketh.

²⁵ He leaning back, as he was, on Jesus’ breast saith unto him, Lord, who is it?

² Supper was finished, and the Devil had already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray Jesus.

³ Jesus, knowing that the Father had given everything into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God,

⁴ got up from supper, laid aside His outer garment, and wrapped a towel around His waist.

⁵ Then He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around Him.

⁶ Then He came to Simon Peter, and Peter asked Him, “Lord, are You washing my feet?”

⁷ Jesus answered, “You don’t understand what I am doing now, but you will know after this.”

⁸ Peter told Him, “You will never wash my feet!” Jesus answered, “If I don’t wash you, you have no part with me.”

⁹ Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, not just my feet, but also my hands and my head!”

¹⁰ Jesus said to him, “Someone who has bathed only needs to wash their feet, but is completely clean; and most of you are clean, but not all of you.”

¹¹ For He knew who would betray Him, therefore He said, “You aren’t all clean.”

¹² When He had washed their feet, He put on His outer garment and sat down again. He asked them, “Do you know what I have done to you?

¹³ You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right in saying so, for so I am.

¹⁴ If I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.

¹⁵ I have given you an example, that you should also do as I have done to you.

¹⁶ Most assuredly, I tell you, a servant isn’t greater than his master, nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him.

¹⁷ If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them.

¹⁸ I’m not talking about all of you. I know who I have chosen; but this is to fulfill the Scripture, ‘He who eats bread with me has lifted up his heel against me.’

¹⁹ Now I tell you before it happens, that when it does happen, you may believe that I AM.

²⁰ Most assuredly, I tell you, whoever receives anyone I send receives me; and he who receives me receives Him who sent me.”

²¹ When Jesus had said these things, He was troubled in spirit, and testified and said, “Most assuredly, I tell you, one of you will betray me.”

²² The disciples began looking at one another, perplexed about which one of them He was talking about.

²³ One of Jesus’ disciples, who Jesus sincerely loved, was leaning against His breast.

²⁴ Simon Peter therefore nodded to him to ask who He spoke about.

²⁵ Then, leaning back on Jesus’ breast, he asked Him, “Lord, who is it?”

² And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him;

³ Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;

⁴ He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.

⁶ Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?

² We were eating the Passover meal. ◄The devil/Satan► had already suggested to Judas ◄Iscariot/the man from Kerioth village►, the son of Simon, that he should ◄betray Jesus/enable Jesus' enemies to seize him►.

³ But Jesus knew that his Father had given to him complete authority to control the situation. He knew that he had come from God and would soon return to God.

⁴ But before he left us, he wanted to show us how we should love each other. So he got up from where he was eating. He took off his outer cloak and wrapped a long towel around his waist, as a slave would do.

⁵ Then he poured some water in a basin. He began to wash our feet, and then dry them with the towel that he had wrapped around himself.

⁶ When he came to Simon Peter, Peter said to him, “Lord, it is not right for you RHQ to humble yourself by washing my feet!”

⁷ Jesus replied to him, “Now you do not understand the meaning of what I am doing, but you will understand later.”

⁸ Peter said, “I will never, ever, allow you to wash my feet!” Jesus replied to him, “If I do not wash you, you cannot continue ◄to be my disciple/to belong to me►.”

⁹ So Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, in that case, do not wash only my feet. Wash my hands and my head, too!”

¹⁰ Then, to show him that after God had cleansed people from being guilty for sin, they needed only for God to forgive their daily sins MET, Jesus said to him, “Those who have recently bathed need only to have their feet washed, because they get dirty very quickly on the dusty roads. The rest of their bodies are clean. Similarly, I have made you disciples free/clean from the guilt of your sins, although not all of you are free from guilt.”

¹¹ He knew which one of us was going to betray him. That is the reason he said, “Not all of you are free from guilt.”

¹² After he finished washing our feet, he put his cloak back on. Then he sat down and said to us, “Do you understand what I have done for you?

¹³ You show that you respect me by calling me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord’. You are right to say that, because I am your teacher and your Lord.

¹⁴ But if I, who am your teacher and your Lord, have washed your feet, you ought to serve each other by doing things like washing each other's feet.

¹⁵ I have made myself an example for you in order that you should humbly serve each other as I have done for you.

¹⁶ Listen to this carefully: A servant is not greater than his master. A messenger is not greater than the one who has sent him. So, since you are not greater than I am, you should not be proud and unwilling to serve each other.

¹⁷ Since you now know these things, God will be pleased with you if you do them.”

¹⁸ “I am not saying that God will bless all of you. I knew what all of you were like when I chose you. But I also chose the one who will betray me, in order that what is written in Scripture might be fulfilled {to fulfill what someone/the psalmist wrote in Scripture}, ‘The one who is acting like he is my friend by eating with me has become my enemy IDM.’

¹⁹ I am telling you about someone betraying me before it happens, in order that when it happens, you may continue to believe that I am ◄ the Messiah/who I say I am►.

²⁰ Listen to this carefully: Those who accept any one of you whom I am sending out, God will consider that they are accepting me. And those who accept me, God will consider that they are accepting my Father, who sent me.”

²¹ After Jesus said this, he was very troubled. He solemnly declared, “Listen to this carefully: One of you is going to enable my enemies to seize me.”

²² We looked at each other. We had no way to know whom he was talking about.

²³ I, the man other people call ❛the one Jesus loved❜, was sitting very close to Jesus.

²⁴ Simon Peter motioned to me to indicate that I should ask Jesus whom he was talking about.

²⁵ So I leaned close to Jesus and asked him, “Lord, who is it?”

² So while a meal was going on, the Evil One having now put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to be false to him,

³ Jesus, being conscious that the Father had put everything into his hands, and that he came from God and was going to God,

⁴ Got up from table, put off his robe and took a cloth and put it round him.

⁵ Then he put water into a basin and was washing the feet of the disciples and drying them with the cloth which was round him.

⁶ So he came to Simon Peter. Peter said, Lord, are my feet to be washed by you?

⁷ And Jesus, answering, said to him, What I do is not clear to you now, but it will be clear to you in time to come.

⁸ Peter said, I will never let my feet be washed by you, never. Jesus said in answer, If I do not make you clean you have no part with me.

⁹ Simon Peter said to him, Lord, not my feet only, but my hands and my head.

¹⁰ Jesus said to him, He who is bathed has need only to have his feet washed and then he is clean all over: and you, my disciples, are clean, but not all of you.

¹¹ (He had knowledge who was false to him; that is why he said, You are not all clean.)

¹² Then, after washing their feet and putting on his robe again, he took his seat and said to them, Do you see what I have done to you?

¹³ You give me the name of Master and Lord: and you are right; that is what I am.

¹⁴ If then I, the Lord and the Master, have made your feet clean, it is right for you to make one another's feet clean.

¹⁵ I have given you an example, so that you may do what I have done to you.

¹⁶ Truly I say to you, A servant is not greater than his lord; and he who is sent is not greater than the one who sent him.

¹⁷ If these things are clear to you, happy are you if you do them.

¹⁸ I am not talking of you all: I have knowledge of my true disciples, but things are as they are, so that the Writings may come true, The foot of him who takes bread with me is lifted up against me.

¹⁹ From this time forward, I give you knowledge of things before they come about, so that when they come about you may have belief that I am he.

²⁰ Truly I say to you, He who takes to his heart anyone whom I send, takes me to his heart; and he who so takes me, takes him who sent me.

²¹ When Jesus had said this he was troubled in spirit, and gave witness, saying, Truly I say to you, that one of you will be false to me.

²² Then the eyes of the disciples were turned on one another, in doubt as to whom he had in mind.

²³ There was at table one of his disciples, the one dear to Jesus, resting his head on Jesus' breast.

²⁴ Making a sign to him, Simon Peter said, Who is it he is talking about?

²⁵ He, then, resting his head on Jesus' breast, said to him, Lord, who is it?

² And during supper, the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas son of Simon, Iscariote, that he should deliver him up,

³ Jesus, knowing that the Father had given him all things into his hands, and that he came out from God and was going to God,

⁴ rises from supper and lays aside his garments, and having taken a linen towel he girded himself:

⁵ then he pours water into the washhand basin, and began to wash the feet of the disciples, and to wipe them with the linen towel with which he was girded.

⁶ He comes therefore to Simon Peter; and he says to him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?

⁷ Jesus answered and said to him, What I do thou dost not know now, but thou shalt know hereafter.

⁸ Peter says to him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, Unless I wash thee, thou hast not part with me.

⁹ Simon Peter says to him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.

¹⁰ Jesus says to him, He that is washed all over needs not to wash save his feet, but is wholly clean; and ye are clean, but not all.

¹¹ For he knew him that delivered him up: on account of this he said, Ye are not all clean.

¹² When therefore he had washed their feet, and taken his garments, having sat down again, he said to them, Do ye know what I have done to you?

¹³ Ye call me the Teacher and the Lord, and ye say well, for I am so.

¹⁴ If I therefore, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, ye also ought to wash one another's feet;

²³ Now there was at table one of his disciples in the bosom of Jesus, whom Jesus loved.

²⁴ Simon Peter makes a sign therefore to him to ask who it might be of whom he spoke.

²⁵ But he, leaning on the breast of Jesus, says to him, Lord, who is it?

² And when supper was done, (the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to betray him,)

³ Knowing that the Father had given him all things into his hands, and that he came from God, and goeth to God;

⁴ He riseth from supper, and layeth aside his garments, and having taken a towel, girded himself.

⁵ After that, he putteth water into a basin, and began to wash the feet of the disciples, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.

⁶ He cometh therefore to Simon Peter. And Peter saith to him: Lord, dost thou wash my feet?

⁷ Jesus answered, and said to him: What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.

⁸ Peter saith to him: Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him: If I wash thee not, thou shalt have no part with me.

⁹ Simon Peter saith to him: Lord, not only my feet, but also my hands and my head.

¹⁰ Jesus saith to him: He that is washed, needeth not but to wash his feet, but is clean wholly. And you are clean, but not all.

¹¹ For he knew who he was that would betray him; therefore he said: You are not all clean.

¹² Then after he had washed their feet, and taken his garments, being set down again, he said to them: Know you what I have done to you?

¹³ You call me Master, and Lord; and you say well, for so I am.

¹⁴ If then I being your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; you also ought to wash one another’s feet.

¹⁵ For I have given you an example, that as I have done to you, so you do also.

¹⁶ Amen, amen I say to you: The servant is not greater than his lord; neither is the apostle greater than he that sent him.

¹⁷ If you know these things, you shall be blessed if you do them.

¹⁸ I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen. But that the scripture may be fulfilled: He that eateth bread with me, shall lift up his heel against me.

¹⁹ At present I tell you, before it come to pass: that when it shall come to pass, you may believe that I am he.

²³ Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.

²⁴ Simon Peter therefore beckoned to him, and said to him: Who is it of whom he speaketh?

²⁵ He therefore, leaning on the breast of Jesus, saith to him: Lord, who is it?

² And after supper, the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to betray Him,

³ Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God,

⁸ Peter said to Him, “You shall never wash my feet!” Jesus answered him, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with Me.”

⁹ Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!”

¹⁰ Jesus said to him, “He that is bathed need only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you.”

¹¹ For He knew who would betray Him; for this reason He said, “You are not all clean.”

¹³ You call me Teacher and Lord, and you say correctly, for so I am.

¹⁴ Therefore if I, your Lord and your Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet.

¹⁶ Most assuredly I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor a messenger greater than he who sent him.

¹⁷ If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.

¹⁸ “I do not speak concerning all of you. I know those whom I chose; but that the Scripture may be fulfilled, ‘He who eats bread with Me has lifted up his heel against Me.’

¹⁹ From now on I tell you before it happens, so that when it happens, you may believe that I AM.

²⁰ Most assuredly I say to you, he who receives whomever I send receives Me; and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.”

²¹ When Jesus had said these things, He was troubled in His spirit, and testified and said, “Most assuredly I say to you, one of you will betray Me.”

²² Therefore the disciples were looking at one another, perplexed about whom He was speaking.

²³ Now there was reclining on Jesus' bosom one of His disciples, the one whom Jesus loved.

²⁴ Simon Peter therefore motioned to him to inquire who it might be about whom He was speaking.

²⁵ Then, leaning back thus on Jesus' chest, he said to Him, “Lord, who is it?”

² And after supper (the devil already having put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray Him),

³ Jesus, knowing that the Father had given everything into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God,

⁴ He gets up from the meal and lays aside His garments, and taking a towel He tied it around Himself.

⁵ Then He poured water into the basin and began to wash the disciples' feet and to dry them with the towel with which He was wrapped.

⁶ So He comes to Simon Peter, and he says to Him, “Lord, you wash my feet?!”

⁷ Jesus answered and said to him, “What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know by experience after this.”

⁸ Peter says to Him, “You will never ever wash my feet!!” Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no part with me.”

⁹ Simon Peter says to Him, “Lord, not only my feet, but also my hands and my head!”

¹⁰ Jesus says to him: “One who is bathed has no need except to wash his feet, but is clean all over. And you (pl) are clean, but not all of you.”

¹¹ (He knew who was betraying Him; that is why He said, “Not all of you are clean.”)

¹² So when Jesus had washed their feet and put His garments back on, He reclined again and said to them: “Do you know what I have done to you?

¹³ You address me as ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord’, and you speak correctly, because I am.

¹⁴ So then, if I, Lord and Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet.

¹⁵ Because I have given you an example, so that you also should do just as I did to you.

¹⁶ “Most assuredly I say to you, a slave is not greater than his owner, neither is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.

¹⁷ If you understand these things, you are blessed if you do them.

²¹ Having said these things, Jesus was distressed in His spirit and testified saying, “Most assuredly I say to you, one of you will betray me!”

²² So the disciples started looking at each other, at a loss as to whom He meant.

²³ Now one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved, was reclining beside Jesus' bosom.

²⁴ So Simon Peter motions to him to inquire whom it might be that He was referring to.

²⁵ And leaning back against Jesus' breast he says to Him, “Lord, who is it?”

² It was during supper, and the devil had already put the thought of betraying Jesus into the mind of Judas, son of Simon Iscariot.

³ Jesus knew that the Father had placed everything under his authority, and that he had come from God and was going back to God.

⁴ So Jesus stood up from eating supper, took off his robe and wrapped a towel around his waist.

⁵ He poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples' feet, drying them with the towel he had wrapped around him.

⁶ He came to Simon Peter, who asked him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?”

⁷ Jesus replied, “You won't realize what I'm doing for you now. But one day you'll understand.”

⁸ “No!” Peter protested. “You'll never wash my feet!” Jesus replied, “If I don't wash you, you have no part with me.”

⁹ “Then, Lord, wash not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!” Simon Peter exclaimed.

¹⁰ Jesus responded, “Those who have had a bath only need to wash their feet and then they're clean all over. You are clean—but not all of you.”

¹¹ For he knew who was going to betray him. That's why he said, “Not all of you are clean.”

¹² After Jesus had washed their feet, he put his robe back on, and sat down. “Do you understand what I've done to you?” he asked them.

¹³ “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that's who I am.

¹⁴ So if I, your Teacher and Lord, washed your feet, you ought to wash one another's feet.

¹⁵ I have set you an example, so you should do just as I did.

¹⁶ I tell you the truth, servants are not more important than their master, and the one sent is not greater than the sender.

¹⁷ Now that you understand these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

¹⁸ I'm not talking about all of you—I know those I have chosen. But this is to fulfill Scripture: ‘The one who shares my food has turned against me.’

¹⁹ I'm telling you this now, before it happens, so when it does happen you will be convinced that I am who I am.

²⁰ I tell you the truth, whoever welcomes anyone I send welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me, welcomes the one who sent me.”

²¹ After he had said this, Jesus was deeply troubled, and declared: “I tell you the truth, one of you is going to betray me.”

²² The disciples looked at each other, wondering which of them Jesus was talking about.

²³ The disciple whom Jesus loved was sitting next to Jesus at the table, leaning close him.

²⁴ Simon Peter motioned to him to ask Jesus which one he was talking about.

²⁵ So he leaned over to Jesus and asked, “Lord, who is it?”

² And when supper was done (and that the deuill had now put in the heart of Iudas Iscariot, Simons sonne, to betray him)

³ Iesus knowing that the Father had giuen all things into his hands, and that he was come forth from God, and went to God,

²⁵ Being in this position, that disciple leant back on Jesus' shoulder, and asked him, “Who is it, Master?”

²³ One of his disciples, the one whom Yeshua Salvation felt agapao ·total devotion love· for, was at the table, leaning against Yeshua Salvation's chest.

²⁴ Simeon Peter Hearing Rock therefore beckoned to him, and said to him, “Tell us who it is of whom he speaks.”

²⁵ He, leaning back, as he was, on Yeshua Salvation's chest, asked him, “Lord, who is it?”

² And when supper was ended after that the devyll had put in the hert of Iudas Iscariot Simons sonne to betraye him:

³ Iesus knowinge that the father had geve all thinges into his hondes. And that he was come from God and went to God

⁴ he rose from supper and layde a syde his vpper garmentes and toke a towell and gyrd him selfe.

⁵ After that poured he water into a basyn and beganne to wash his disciples fete and to wype them with the towell wherwith he was gyrde.

⁶ Then came he to Simon Peter. And Peter sayde to him: Lorde shalt thou wesshe my fete?

⁷ Iesus answered and sayde vnto him: what I do thou wotest not now but thou shalt knowe herafter.

⁸ Peter sayd vnto him: thou shalt not wesshe my fete whill the worlde stondeth. Iesus answered him: yf I wasshe the not thou shalt have no part with me.

⁹ Simon Peter sayde vnto him: Lorde not my fete only: but also my handes and my heed.

¹⁰ Iesus sayde to him: he that is wesshed nedeth not save to wesshe his fete and is clene every whit. And ye are clene: but not all.

¹¹ For he knewe his betrayer. Therfore sayde he: ye are not all clene.

¹² After he had wesshed their fete and receaved his clothes and was set doune agayne he sayde vnto them? wot ye what I have done to you?

¹³ Ye call me master and Lorde and ye saye well for so am I.

¹⁴ If I then youre Lorde and master have wesshed youre fete ye also ought to wesshe one anothers fete.

¹⁵ For I have geven you an ensample that ye shuld do as I have done to you.

¹⁶ Verely verely I saye vnto you the servaunt is not greater then his master nether the messenger greater then he that sent him.

¹⁷ If ye vnderstonde these thinges happy are ye yf ye do them.

¹⁸ I speake not of you all I knowe whom I have chosen. But that the scripture be fulfilled: he that eateth breed with me hath lyfte vp his hele agaynste me.

¹⁹ Now tell I you before it come: that when it is come to passe ye might beleve that I am he.

²⁰ Verely verely I saye vnto you. He that receaveth who soever I sende receaveth me. And he that receaveth me receaveth him that sent me.

²¹ When Iesus had thus sayd he was troubled in the sprete and testified sayinge: verely verely I saye vnto you that one of you shall betraye me.

²² And then the disciples loked one on another doutinge of who he spake.

²³ Ther was one of his disciples which leaned on Iesus bosome whom Iesus loved.

²⁴ To him beckened Simon Peter that he shuld axe who it was of whom he spake.

²⁵ He then as he leaned on Iesus brest sayde vnto him: Lorde who ys it?

² Now the devil had already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot son of Simon, to betray Jesus.

³ He knew that the Father had given everything over into his hands and that he had come from God and was going back to God.

⁴ He got up from dinner and took off his outer clothing. Then he took a towel and wrapped it around himself.

⁵ Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the feet of the disciples and dry them with the towel that he had put around himself.

⁶ He came to Simon Peter, and Peter said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?”

⁷ Jesus answered and said to him, “What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will understand this later.”

⁸ Peter said to him, “You will never wash my feet.” Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no share with me.”

⁹ Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, do not only wash my feet, but also my hands and my head.”

¹⁰ Jesus said to him, “He who is bathed has no need, except to wash his feet, but he is completely clean; you are clean, but not everyone.”

¹¹ (For Jesus knew who would betray him; that is why he said, “Not all of you are clean.”)

¹² So when Jesus had washed their feet and taken his garments and sat down again, he said to them, “Do you know what I have done for you?

¹³ You call me 'teacher' and 'Lord,' and you are speaking correctly, because so I am.

¹⁴ If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, you should also wash the feet of one another.

¹⁵ For I have given you an example so that you should also do just as I did for you.

¹⁶ Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is a messenger greater than he who sent him.

¹⁷ If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them.

¹⁸ I am not speaking about all of you; I know those whom I have chosen—but this so that the scripture will be fulfilled: 'He who eats my bread lifted up his heel against me.'

¹⁹ I tell you this now before it happens so that when it happens, you may believe that I AM.

²⁰ Truly, truly, I say to you, he who receives whomever I sent, receives me, and he who receives me, receives him who sent me.”

²¹ When Jesus said this, he was troubled in spirit. He testified and said, “Truly, truly, I say to you that one of you will betray me.”

²² The disciples looked at each other, wondering of whom he was speaking.

²³ One of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was lying down at the table against Jesus' side.

²⁴ Simon Peter motioned to this disciple and said, “Ask him who he is speaking about.”

²⁵ So he leaned back against the side of Jesus and said to him, “Lord, who is it?”

⁴ He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.

⁵ After that, he poured water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which he was girded.

⁶ Then he cometh to Simon Peter: and Peter saith to him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?

⁷ Jesus answered and said to him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.

⁸ Peter saith to him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.

⁵ And afterward he put water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe with the linen cloth, with which he was girded.

²³ And so one of his disciples was resting in the bosom of Jesus, whom Jesus loved.

²⁴ Therefore Simon Peter beckoned to him, and said to him, Who is it, of whom he saith?

²⁵ And so when he had rested again on the breast of Jesus, he saith to him, Lord, who is it?

² And when the supper was made, when the devil had put then into the heart, that Judas of Simon Iscariot should betray him, And the supper made, when the devil had sent now into the heart of Judas of Simon Iscariot, that he should betray him,

³ he witting (or knowing) that the Father gave all things to him into his hands, and that he went out from God, and (now) goeth (back) to God,

⁴ he riseth from the supper, and doeth off his clothes; and when he had taken a linen cloth, he girded him(self).

⁵ And afterward he put water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe (them) with the linen cloth, with which he was girded.

(And so after that he had washed their feet, he took his clothes; and when he had sat down at the meal again, he said to them, Do ye understand what I have done for you?)

¹³ Ye call me Master and Lord, and ye say well; for I am. (Ye call me Teacher and Lord, and ye say correctly; for that is what I am.)

²² Therefore the disciples looked (around) together, doubting of whom he said.

²³ And so one of his disciples was resting in the bosom of Jesus, whom Jesus loved. (And one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was sitting close beside Jesus.)

²⁴ Therefore Simon Peter beckoned to him, and said to him, Who is it, of whom he saith?

²⁵ And so when he had rested again on the breast of Jesus, he saith to him, Lord, who is it? (And so when he was close beside Jesus again, he asked him, Lord, who is it?)

² And whanne the souper was maad, whanne the deuel hadde put than in to the herte, that Judas of Symount Scarioth schulde bitraye hym,

³ he witynge that the fadir yaf alle thingis to hym in to hise hoondis, and that he wente out fro God,

⁴ and goith to God, he risith fro the souper, and doith of hise clothis; and whanne he hadde takun a lynun cloth, he girde hym.

⁵ And aftirward he putte watir in to a basyn, and biganne to waische the disciplis feet, and to wipe with the lynnen cloth, with which he was gird.

⁶ And so he cam to Symount Petre, and Petre seith to hym, Lord, waischist thou my feet?

⁷ Jhesus answerde, and seide to hym, What Y do, thou wost not now; but thou schalt wite aftirward.

⁸ Petre seith to hym, Thou schalt neuere waische my feet. Jhesus answeride to hym, If Y schal not waische thee, thou schalt not haue part with me.

⁹ Symount Petre seith to hym, Lord, not oneli my feet, but bothe the hoondis and the heed.

¹⁰ Jhesus seide to hym, He that is waischun, hath no nede but that he waische the feet, but he is al clene; and ye ben clene, but not alle.

¹¹ For he wiste, who `was he that schulde bitraye hym; therfor he seide, Ye ben not alle clene.

¹² And so aftir that he hadde waischun `the feet of hem, he took hise clothis; and whanne he was set to mete ayen, eft he seide to hem, Ye witen what Y haue don to you.

¹³ Ye clepen me maistir and lord, and ye seien wel; for Y am.

¹⁴ Therfor if Y, lord and maistir, haue waischun youre feet, and ye schulen waische oon anothers feet;

¹⁵ for Y haue youun `ensaumple to you, `that as I haue do to you, so do ye.

¹⁶ Treuli, treuli, Y seie to you, the seruaunt is not grettere than his lord, nether an apostle is grettere than he that sente hym.

²⁵ And so whanne he hadde restid ayen on the brest of Jhesu, he seith to hym, Lord, who is it?

² And supper being come, the devil already having put it into the heart of Judas of Simon, Iscariot, that he may deliver him up,

³ Jesus knowing that all things the Father hath given to him — into his hands, and that from God he came forth, and unto God he goeth,

⁴ doth rise from the supper, and doth lay down his garments, and having taken a towel, he girded himself;

⁵ afterward he putteth water into the basin, and began to wash the feet of his disciples, and to wipe with the towel with which he was being girded.

⁶ He cometh, therefore, unto Simon Peter, and that one saith to him, 'Sir, thou — dost thou wash my feet?'

⁷ Jesus answered and said to him, 'That which I do thou hast not known now, but thou shalt know after these things;'

⁸ Peter saith to him, 'Thou mayest not wash my feet — to the age.' Jesus answered him, 'If I may not wash thee, thou hast no part with me;'

⁹ Simon Peter saith to him, 'Sir, not my feet only, but also the hands and the head.'

¹⁰ Jesus saith to him, 'He who hath been bathed hath no need save to wash his feet, but he is clean altogether; and ye are clean, but not all;'

¹¹ for he knew him who is delivering him up; because of this he said, 'Ye are not all clean.'

¹² When, therefore, he washed their feet, and took his garments, having reclined (at meat) again, he said to them, 'Do ye know what I have done to you?

¹³ ye call me, The Teacher and The Lord, and ye say well, for I am;

¹⁴ if then I did wash your feet — the Lord and the Teacher — ye also ought to wash one another's feet.

¹⁵ 'For an example I gave to you, that, according as I did to you, ye also may do;

¹⁶ verily, verily, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his lord, nor an apostle greater than he who sent him;

¹⁷ if these things ye have known, happy are ye, if ye may do them;

¹⁸ not concerning you all do I speak; I have known whom I chose for myself; but that the Writing may be fulfilled: He who is eating the bread with me, did lift up against me his heel.

¹⁹ 'From this time I tell you, before its coming to pass, that, when it may come to pass, ye may believe that I am he;

²⁰ verily, verily, I say to you, he who is receiving whomsoever I may send, doth receive me; and he who is receiving me, doth receive Him who sent me.'

²¹ These things having said, Jesus was troubled in the spirit, and did testify, and said, 'Verily, verily, I say to you, that one of you will deliver me up;'

²² the disciples were looking, therefore, one at another, doubting concerning whom he speaketh.

²³ And there was one of his disciples reclining (at meat) in the bosom of Jesus, whom Jesus was loving;

²⁴ Simon Peter, then, doth beckon to this one, to inquire who he may be concerning whom he speaketh,

²⁵ and that one having leant back on the breast of Jesus, respondeth to him, 'Sir, who is it?'
