⁴⁸ If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.

⁴⁹ But a certain one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all,

⁵⁰ nor do ye take account that it is expedient for you that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.

⁵¹ Now this he said not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for the nation;

⁵² and not for the nation only, but that he might also gather together into one the children of God that are scattered abroad.

⁵³ So from that day forth they took counsel that they might put him to death.

⁵⁴ Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews, but departed thence into the country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim; and there he tarried with the disciples.

⁵⁵ Now the passover of the Jews was at hand: and many went up to Jerusalem out of the country before the passover, to purify themselves.

⁵⁶ They sought therefore for Jesus, and spake one with another, as they stood in the temple, What think ye? That he will not come to the feast?

⁴⁸ If we let Him go on like this, everyone will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.”

⁴⁹ Then a certain one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, told them, “You don’t know anything,

⁵⁰ nor do you take into account that it’s better for you that one man should die for the people, than for the whole nation to perish.”

⁵¹ He didn’t say this on his own initiative; but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation,

⁵² and not for the nation only, but that Jesus might also gather together into one God’s children who are scattered abroad.

⁵³ So from that day on, they planned together to kill Jesus.

⁵⁴ Therefore Jesus stopped walking publicly among the Jews, but went away from there to the region near the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there He stayed with the disciples.

⁵⁵ Now the Passover of the Jews was near, and many went from the country up to Jerusalem before the Passover, to purify themselves.

⁵⁶ Then they were looking for Jesus, and spoke among themselves as they stood in the temple, “What do you think? Isn’t He coming to the feast at all?”

⁴⁸ If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation.

⁴⁹ And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all,

⁴⁸ If we allow him to keep doing this, everyone will believe ◄in him/that he is the Messiah►, and they will make him their king. Then the Roman army will come and destroy our Temple and our whole nation of Israel!”

⁴⁹ One of the Jewish Council members was Caiaphas. He was the Jewish high priest that year. Hinting that they should get rid of Jesus, he said to them, “You talk as though you do not know anything HYP!

⁵⁰ You do not realize that it would be much better for us if one man died for the sake of the people rather than that the Romans kill all the people of our Jewish nation.”

⁵¹ He said that, not because he thought of it himself. Instead, since he was the high priest that year, he was prophesying that Jesus would die for the whole Jewish nation.

⁵² But he was also prophesying that Jesus would die, not just for the Jews, but for all the people living in other lands who would belong to God, in order that he would unite all of them into one group.

⁵³ So from that day the Jewish leaders started to make plans how they could kill Jesus.

⁵⁴ Because of that, Jesus no longer traveled around publicly among the Jewish people. Instead, he left Jerusalem, along with us disciples, and went to a village called Ephraim, in an area near the desolate region. We stayed there for a while.

⁵⁵ When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover celebration, many Jews went up to Jerusalem from other places in the country. They went there to perform the rituals to make themselves acceptable to God before the Passover celebration started.

⁵⁶ The Jewish chief priests and Pharisees issued an order that if anyone found out where Jesus was, that person should report it to them, in order that they could seize him. So the people thought that Jesus would probably not dare to come to the celebration. But they kept looking for him, and as they were standing in the Temple courtyard they were saying to each other, “What do you think? He will not come to the celebration, will he?”

⁴⁸ If we leave him alone like this, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.”

⁵⁰ You do not see that it is in your interest for one man to be put to death for the people, so that all the nation may not come to destruction.

⁵¹ He did not say this of himself, but being the high priest that year he said, as a prophet, that Jesus would be put to death for the nation;

⁵² And not for that nation only, but for the purpose of uniting in one body the children of God all over the world.

⁵³ And from that day they took thought together how to put him to death.

⁵⁴ So Jesus no longer went about publicly among the Jews, but went from there into the country near to the waste land, to a town named Ephraim, where he was for some time with the disciples.

⁵⁵ Now the Passover of the Jews was near, and numbers of people went up from the country to Jerusalem to make themselves clean before the Passover.

⁵⁶ They were looking for Jesus and saying to one another while they were in the Temple, What is your opinion? Will he not come to the feast?

⁴⁸ If we let him thus alone, all will believe on him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.

⁴⁹ But a certain one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, Ye know nothing

⁵⁰ nor consider that it is profitable for you that one man die for the people, and not that the whole nation perish.

⁵¹ But this he did not say of himself; but, being high priest that year, prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation;

⁵² and not for the nation only, but that he should also gather together into one the children of God who were scattered abroad.

⁵⁴ Wherefore Jesus walked no more openly among the Jews; but he went into a country near the desert, unto a city that is called Ephrem, and there he abode with his disciples.

⁵⁵ And the pasch of the Jews was at hand; and many from the country went up to Jerusalem, before the pasch to purify themselves.

⁵⁶ They sought therefore for Jesus; and they discoursed one with another, standing in the temple: What think you that he is not come to the festival day?

⁴⁸ If we leave Him alone in this way, all will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and will take away both our place and nation.”

⁴⁹ But a certain one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, “You don't know anything,

⁵⁶ Then they were seeking Jesus, and they were speaking with one another, standing in the temple, “What do you think—that He will definitely not come to the feast?”

⁴⁸ if we let him go on like this everybody will believe into him; and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation!”

⁴⁹ But one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them: “You know nothing at all!

⁵⁰ Nor do you consider that it is advantageous for us that one man should die on behalf of the people, rather than the whole nation perish!”

⁵¹ (Now he did not say this on his own, but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus was about to die on behalf of the nation;

⁵² and not only on behalf of the nation, but also to gather into one all the scattered children of God.)

⁵³ So from that day on they really plotted to kill Him.

⁵⁴ Therefore Jesus no longer moved about openly among the Jews, but went away from there into the country near the wilderness, to a town called Ephraim; and He stayed there with His disciples.

⁵⁵ Now the Jewish Passover was near, and many from the country went up to Jerusalem before the Passover in order to purify themselves.

⁵⁶ So they were looking for Jesus, and as they stood in the temple they were saying to each other, “What do you think—that he won't come to the feast at all?”

⁴⁸ If we allow him to continue, everybody will believe in him, and then the Romans will destroy both the Temple and our status as a nation.”

⁴⁹ “You don't understand anything!” said Caiaphas, who was high priest that year.

⁵⁰ “Can't you see that it's better for you that one man die for the people so that the whole nation won't be destroyed?”

⁵¹ He didn't say this on his own behalf, but as chief priest that year he was prophesying that Jesus would die for the nation.

⁵² And this was not just for the Jewish nation, but for all the scattered children of God so that they might be gathered together and be made into one.

⁵³ From that time on they plotted how they might kill Jesus.

⁵⁴ So Jesus did not travel openly among the Jews but went to a town called Ephraim in the region near the desert and stayed there with his disciples.

⁵⁵ It was nearly time for the Jewish Passover, and many people went from the countryside to Jerusalem to purify themselves for the Passover.

⁵⁶ People were looking for Jesus and talking about him as they stood in the Temple. “What do you think?” they asked each other. “Isn't he coming to the festival?”

⁴⁸ If we let him thus alone, all men will beleeue in him, and the Romanes will come and take away both our place, and the nation.

⁴⁹ Then one of them named Caiaphas, which was the hie Priest that same yere, said vnto them, Ye perceiue nothing at all,

⁵² And not for that nation onely, but that he shoulde gather together in one the children of God, which were scattered.

⁵⁶ Then sought they for Iesus, and spake among themselues, as they stoode in the Temple, What thinke ye, that he cometh not to the feast?

⁵² And not for the nation only, but also that he might unite in one body the children of God now scattered far and wide.

⁵³ So from that day they plotted to put Jesus to death.

⁵⁴ In consequence of this, Jesus did not go about publicly amongst the people any more, but left and went into the country bordering on the wilderness, to a town called Ephraim, where he stayed with his disciples.

⁵⁵ But the Jewish Festival of the Passover was near; and many people had gone up from the country to Jerusalem, for their purification, before the Festival began.

⁵⁶ So they looked for Jesus there, and said to one another, as they stood in the Temple Courts, “What do you think? Do you think he will come to the Festival?”

⁵² and not for the nation only, but that he might also gather together into one the children of God who are scattered abroad.

⁵³ So from that day forward they took counsel that they might put him to death.

⁵⁴ Yeshua Salvation therefore walked no more openly among the Jews Praisers, but departed from there into the country near the wilderness, to a city called Ephraim Fruit. He stayed there with his disciples.

⁵⁵ Now the Judean Person from Praise festival of Pesac ·Passover· was at hand, (the start of Nissan). Many went up from the country to Jerusalem City of peace before the Pesac ·Passover·, to purify themselves.

⁵⁶ Then they sought for Yeshua Salvation and spoke one with another, as they stood in the temple, “What do you think— that he is not coming to the feast at all?”

⁴⁸ Yf we let him scape thus all men will beleve on him and the Romaynes shall come and take awaye oure countre and the people.

⁴⁹ And one of them named Cayphas which was the hieprest that same yeare sayde vnto them: Ye perceave nothinge at all

⁵⁰ nor yet consider that it is expedient for vs that one man dye for the people and not that all the people perisshe.

⁵¹ This spake he not of him selfe but beinge hye preste that same yeare he prophesied that Iesus shulde dye for the people

⁵² and not for the people only but that he shuld gader to geder in one the chyldren of God which were scattered abroode.

⁵³ From that daye forth they held a counsell to geder for to put him to deeth.

⁵⁴ Iesus therfore walked no more opely amonge the Iewes: but wet his waye thence vnto a countre nye to a wildernes into a cite called Ephraim and there hauted with his disciples.

⁵⁵ And the Iewes ester was nye at hand and many went out of the countre vp to Ierusalem before the ester to purify them selves.

⁵⁶ Then sought they for Iesus and spake bitwene the selves as they stode in the temple: What thinke ye seynge he cometh not to the feast.

⁴⁸ If we leave him alone like this, all will believe in him; the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.”

⁴⁹ And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said to them, Ye know nothing at all,

⁵⁰ Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.

⁵¹ And this he spoke not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation;

⁵² And not for that nation only, but that also he should assemble in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.

⁵³ Then from that day forth they took counsel together to put him to death.

⁵⁴ Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went thence to a country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples.

⁵⁵ And the Jews' passover was nigh at hand: and many went out of the country to Jerusalem before the passover, to purify themselves.

⁵⁶ Then they sought for Jesus, and spoke among themselves, as they stood in the temple, What think ye, that he will not come to the feast?

⁴⁸ If we leave him alone like this, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.”

⁴⁹ But a certain one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all,

⁵⁰ nor do you consider that it is advantageous for us that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation not perish.”

⁵¹ Now he didn’t say this of himself, but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Yeshua would die for the nation,

⁵² and not for the nation only, but that he might also gather together into one the children of God who are scattered abroad.

⁵³ So from that day forward they took counsel that they might put him to death.

⁵⁴ Yeshua therefore walked no more openly among the Judeans, but departed from there into the country near the wilderness, to a city called Ephraim. He stayed there with his disciples.

⁵⁵ Now the Passover in Judea was at hand. Many went up from the country to Jerusalem before the Passover, to purify themselves.

⁵⁶ Then they sought for Yeshua and spoke with one another as they stood in the temple, “What do you think—that he isn’t coming to the feast at all?”

⁴⁸ If we leave him alone like this, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.”

⁵¹ But he said not this thing of himself, but when he was bishop of that year, he prophesied, that Jesus was to die for the folk,

⁵² and not only for the folk, but that he should gather into one the sons of God that were scattered.

⁵³ Therefore from that day they thought for to slay him.

⁵⁴ Therefore Jesus walked not then openly among the Jews; but he went into a country beside the desert, into a city, that is said Ephraim, and there he dwelled with his disciples.

⁵⁵ And the pask of the Jews was nigh, and many of the country went up to Jerusalem before the pask, to hallow themselves.

⁵⁶ Therefore they sought Jesus, and spake together, standing in the temple, What guess ye, for he cometh not to the feast day?

⁴⁸ If we leave him thus, all men shall believe in him; and (then the) Romans shall come, and shall take (away) our place, and our folk. (If we leave him alone, everyone shall believe in him; and then the Romans shall come, and shall destroy our Temple, and our nation.)

⁴⁹ But one of them, Caiaphas by name, when he was bishop of that year (or who was the High Priest that year), said to them, Ye know nothing,

⁵⁰ nor think, that it speedeth to you, that one man die for the people, and that all the folk perish not. (nor understand, that it is more expedient for you, that one man should die for the people, so that the whole nation shall not perish.)

⁵¹ But he said not this thing of himself, but when he was bishop of that year, he prophesied, that Jesus was to die for the folk, (But he did not say this of his own accord, but as he was the High Priest that year, he had prophesied, that Jesus was to die for the nation,)

⁵² and not only for the folk (or and not only die for the nation), but that he should gather into one the sons of God that were scattered.

⁵³ Therefore from that day (forth) they thought, (or sought), (or made plans) for (how) to slay him.

⁵⁴ Therefore Jesus walked not then openly among the Jews; but he went into a country(side) beside the desert (or but he went into the countryside near the desert), into a city, that is said Ephraim, and there he dwelled with his disciples.

⁵⁵ And the pask of the Jews was nigh, and many of the country went up to Jerusalem before the pask, to hallow themselves. (And the Passover of the Jews was near, and many from the countryside, or and many from all over the country, went up to Jerusalem before the Passover, to sanctify or to purify themselves.)

⁵⁶ Therefore they sought Jesus, and spake together, standing in the temple, What guess ye, for he cometh not to the feast day?

⁴⁸ If we leeue hym thus, alle men schulen bileue in hym; and Romayns schulen come, and schulen take our place and oure folk.

⁴⁹ But oon of hem, Cayfas bi name, whanne he was bischop of that yeer, seide to hem,

⁵⁰ Ye witen nothing, ne thenken, that it spedith to you, that o man die for the puple, and that al the folc perische not.

⁵¹ But he seide not this thing of hym silf, but whanne he was bischop of that yeer, he prophesiede, that Jhesu was to die for the folc,

⁵² and not oneli for the folc, but that he schulde gadere in to oon the sones of God that weren scaterid.

⁵³ Therfor fro that day thei souyten for to sle hym.

⁵⁴ Therfor Jhesus walkide not thanne opynli among the Jewis; but he wente in to a cuntre bisidis desert, in to a citee, that is seid Effren, and there he dwellide with hise disciplis.

⁵⁵ And the pask of the Jewis was niy, and many of the cuntrey wenten vp to Jerusalem bifor the pask, to halewe hem silf.

⁵⁶ Therfor thei souyten Jhesu, and spaken togidere, stondynge in the temple, What gessen ye, for he cometh not to the feeste day?

⁴⁸ if we may let him alone thus, all will believe in him; and the Romans will come, and will take away both our place and nation.'

⁴⁹ and a certain one of them, Caiaphas, being chief priest of that year, said to them, 'Ye have not known anything,

⁵⁰ nor reason that it is good for us that one man may die for the people, and not the whole nation perish.'

⁵¹ And this he said not of himself, but being chief priest of that year, he did prophesy that Jesus was about to die for the nation,

⁵² and not for the nation only, but that also the children of God, who have been scattered abroad, he may gather together into one.

⁵³ From that day, therefore, they took counsel together that they may kill him;

⁵⁴ Jesus, therefore, was no more freely walking among the Jews, but went away thence to the region nigh the wilderness, to a city called Ephraim, and there he tarried with his disciples.

⁵⁵ And the passover of the Jews was nigh, and many went up to Jerusalem out of the country before the passover, that they might purify themselves;

⁵⁶ they were seeking, therefore, Jesus, and said one with another, standing in the temple, 'What doth appear to you — that he may not come to the feast?'
