John 10:3-31 in American Standard Version (1901)

3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
4 When he hath put forth all his own, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
6 This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.
7 Jesus therefore said unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
8 All that came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
9 I am the door; by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and go out, and shall find pasture.
10 The thief cometh not, but that he may steal, and kill, and destroy: I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly.
11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd layeth down his life for the sheep.
12 He that is a hireling, and not a shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, beholdeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth, and the wolf snatcheth them, and scattereth them:
13 he fleeth because he is a hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
14 I am the good shepherd; and I know mine own, and mine own know me,
15 even as the Father knoweth me, and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.
16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and they shall become one flock, one shepherd.
17 Therefore doth the Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I may take it again.
18 No one taketh it away from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment received I from my Father.
19 There arose a division again among the Jews because of these words.
20 And many of them said, He hath a demon, and is mad; why hear ye him?
21 Others said, These are not the sayings of one possessed with a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?
22 And it was the feast of the dedication at Jerusalem:
23 it was winter; and Jesus was walking in the temple in Solomon’s porch.
24 The Jews therefore came round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou hold us in suspense? If thou art the Christ, tell us plainly.
25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believe not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, these bear witness of me.
26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep.
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand.
29 My Father, who hath given them unto me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.
30 I and the Father are one.
31 The Jews took up stones again to stone him.
John 10 in American Standard Version (1901)

John 10:3-31 in God's Living Word

3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep hear his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
4 When he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, because they know his voice.
5 There is no way that they will follow a stranger, but will run away from the stranger, because they don’t know the voice of strangers.”
6 Jesus used this illustration, but the Pharisees didn’t understand what He was telling them.
7 Then Jesus told them again, “Most assuredly, I tell you, I am the sheep’s door.
8 All who ever came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep didn’t listen to them.
9 I am the door. Anyone who enters by me will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.
10 The thief comes only to steal, and kill, and destroy. I came that they might have life, and that they might have it in all its fullness.
11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.
12 The hired hand, who isn’t the shepherd and doesn’t own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and runs away. So, the wolf snatches them and scatters them.
13 The hired hand is concerned about the wages, and not the sheep, so the hired hand runs away.
14 I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me,
15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father. I lay down my life for the sheep.
16 I have other sheep that don’t belong to this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So, there will be one flock, with one shepherd.
17 For this reason the Father sincerely loves me, because I lay down my life, so that I may take it up again.
18 No one takes it away from me, but I lay it down of my own free will. I have the authority to lay it down, and I have the authority to take it up again. I received this commandment from my Father.”
19 The Jews were divided again, because of these words.
20 Many of them were saying, “He has a demon and is insane. Why do you listen to Him?”
21 Others were saying, “These aren’t the sayings of a demon-possessed person. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?”
22 At that time the Feast of Dedication took place in Jerusalem. It was winter,
23 and Jesus was walking in the temple, in Solomon’s porch.
24 Then the Jews gathered around Him, and asked Him, “How long will You keep us in suspense? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly.”
25 Jesus answered, “I told you, but you don’t believe. The works that I do in my Father’s name testify about me,
26 but you don’t believe, because you aren’t of my sheep.
27 My sheep listen to my voice. I know them, and they follow me.
28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one is able to snatch them out of my hand.
29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of my Father’s hand.
30 I and my Father are one.”
31 Therefore the Jews took up stones again to stone Him.

John 10:3-31 in King James (Authorized) Version

4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.

9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
13 The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

19 There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings.
20 And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him?
21 Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?

22 And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.
23 And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon’s porch.
24 Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.
25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of me.
26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
30 I and my Father are one.

JOHN 10 in Revised Version with Apocrypha (1895)

John 10:3-31 in Translation for Translators

3 The man who watches the gate at night opens the gate for him. The sheep recognize the shepherd's voice. He summons his own sheep by calling out the names he has given them. Then he leads them outside the pen.
4 After he has brought out all his own sheep, he goes in front of them. His sheep follow him because they recognize and pay attention to his voice.
5 But they will never follow a stranger. Instead, they will run away from him, because they do not recognize a stranger's voice.”
6 Jesus said that MET to illustrate the difference between himself and the Pharisees, who were deceiving the people. But they did not understand what he was telling them.
7 So Jesus spoke to them again. He said, “Listen carefully to what I am saying. I am like MET a gate for the sheep to enter the sheepfold, because I am the one who allows people to enter God's presence.
8 All of your religious leaders who have come previously without my authority are like MET thieves and bandits because they act violently and dishonestly for their own benefit. But just like sheep do not obey strangers, God's people do not pay attention to them.
9 I am like a gate. Those will be saved { God will save all those} who come to God by trusting in me. Just like sheep go in and out through the gate safely to find pasture MET, I will provide for them and protect them.
10 Thieves come to a sheep pen only to steal or kill or destroy sheep MET. Similarly, your religious leaders injure God's people spiritually. But I have come in order that people may have eternal/spiritual life, and that they may have abundantly all they need to sustain them spiritually.
11 I am like a good shepherd. A good shepherd is willing to die to save the sheep MET. Similarly, I am ready to sacrifice myself to save those who belong to me.
12 A worker whom someone has hired to look after the sheep is not like the shepherd or the one who owns the sheep. So when he sees a wolf coming, he leaves the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock of sheep and seizes one sheep and causes the others to scatter.
13 The worker runs away because he is only a man whom someone has hired. He is not really concerned about what happens to the sheep MET. Similarly, your religious teachers do not really care what happens to you.
14 I am like a good shepherd. Just like a good shepherd knows his sheep MET, I know those who belong to me, and they know me
15 in the same way as my Father knows me and I know my Father. Furthermore, I am ready to sacrifice myself for those who belong to me.
16 And I have other people who are not Jews who will some day belong to me. They will be like MET sheep from another sheep pen. I must bring them to God/myself also. They will pay attention to what I say, and eventually all those who belong to me will be like one flock, and I will be like MET their one shepherd.
17 The reason my Father loves me is that I will sacrifice my life. But after I do that, I will become alive again.
18 No one is causing me to die. Instead, I have chosen to sacrifice myself. I have authority to sacrifice myself and I have authority to become alive again. That is what my Father has commanded me to do.”
19 After hearing these words that Jesus said, the Jews were divided again.
20 Many of them said, “A demon is controlling him and has caused him to become crazy. ◄It is useless to listen to him!/Why should we listen to him?► RHQ”
21 But others said, “What he is saying is not something a man whom a demon is controlling would say. ◄No demon could enable a blind man to see like he did!/ How could a demon enable a blind man to see like he did?► RHQ”
22 Then it was time for the celebration to remember when our ancestors rededicated the Temple in Jerusalem. It was in winter.
23 Jesus was in the Temple courtyard, walking in the place that people called King Solomon's porch.
24 The Jewish leaders SYN gathered around him and said, “How long will you keep us from knowing for sure if you are the Messiah? If you are the Messiah, tell us clearly!”
25 Jesus answered them, “I have told you that I am the Messiah, but you do not believe me! You should know who I am because of the miracles I do with my Father's authority MTY.
26 But instead, you do not believe in me because you do not belong to me. You are like MET sheep who belong to a different shepherd.
27 Just like sheep heed the voice of their true shepherd MET, my people pay attention to what I say. I know them, and they have become my disciples.
28 I will give them eternal life. No one will separate them from me, not ever. No one shall ever pull them away from belonging to me.
29 Those that my Father has given to me are more precious than anything else (OR, My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than anything that opposes them). So no one can pull them away from belonging to him MTY.
30 My father and I are equal.”
31 The Jewish leaders SYN again picked up stones to throw at Jesus and kill him because they were angry at his saying that he was equal with God.

John 10:3-31 in Bible in Basic English

3 The porter lets him in; and the sheep give ear to his voice; he says over the names of the sheep, and takes them out.
4 When he has got them all out, he goes before them, and the sheep go after him, for they have knowledge of his voice.
5 They will not go after another who is not their keeper, but will go from him in flight, because his voice is strange to them.
6 In this Jesus was teaching them in the form of a story: but what he said was not clear to them.
7 So Jesus said again, Truly I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
8 All who came before me are thieves and outlaws: but the sheep did not give ear to them.
9 I am the door: if any man goes in through me he will have salvation, and will go in and go out, and will get food.
10 The thief comes only to take the sheep and to put them to death: he comes for their destruction: I have come so that they may have life and have it in greater measure.
11 I am the good keeper of sheep: the good keeper gives his life for the sheep.
12 He who is a servant, and not the keeper or the owner of the sheep, sees the wolf coming and goes in flight, away from the sheep; and the wolf comes down on them and sends them in all directions:
13 Because he is a servant he has no interest in the sheep.
14 I am the good keeper; I have knowledge of my sheep, and they have knowledge of me,
15 Even as the Father has knowledge of me and I of the Father; and I am giving my life for the sheep.
16 And I have other sheep which are not of this field: I will be their guide in the same way, and they will give ear to my voice, so there will be one flock and one keeper.
17 For this reason am I loved by the Father, because I give up my life so that I may take it again.
18 No one takes it away from me; I give it up of myself. I have power to give it up, and I have power to take it again. These orders I have from my Father.
19 There was a division again among the Jews because of these words.
20 And a number of them said, He has an evil spirit and is out of his mind; why do you give ear to him?
21 Others said, These are not the words of one who has an evil spirit. Is it possible for an evil spirit to make blind people see?
22 Then came the feast of the opening of the Temple in Jerusalem: it was winter;
23 And Jesus was walking in the Temple, in Solomon's covered way.
24 Then the Jews came round him, saying, how long are you going to keep us in doubt? If you are the Christ, say so clearly.
25 Jesus said in answer, I have said it and you have no belief: the works which I do in my Father's name, these give witness about me.
26 But you have no belief because you are not of my sheep.
27 My sheep give ear to my voice, and I have knowledge of them, and they come after me:
28 And I give them eternal life; they will never come to destruction, and no one will ever take them out of my hand.
29 That which my Father has given to me has more value than all; and no one is able to take anything out of the Father's hand.
30 I and my Father are one.
31 Then the Jews took up stones again to send at him.

3 To him the porter opens; and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out.
4 When he has put forth all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, because they know his voice.
5 But they will not follow a stranger, but will flee from him, because they know not the voice of strangers.
6 This allegory spoke Jesus to them, but they did not know what it was of which he spoke to them.
7 Jesus therefore said again to them, Verily, verily, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
8 All whoever came before me are thieves and robbers; but the sheep did not hear them.
9 I am the door: if any one enter in by me, he shall be saved, and shall go in and shall go out and shall find pasture.
10 The thief comes not but that he may steal, and kill, and destroy: I am come that they might have life, and might have it abundantly.
11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep:
12 but he who serves for wages, and who is not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf seizes them and scatters the sheep.
13 Now he who serves for wages flees because he serves for wages, and is not himself concerned about the sheep.
14 I am the good shepherd; and I know those that are mine, and am known of those that are mine,
15 as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.
16 And I have other sheep which are not of this fold: those also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one flock, one shepherd.
17 On this account the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it again.
18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have authority to lay it down and I have authority to take it again. I have received this commandment of my Father.
19 There was a division again among the Jews on account of these words;
20 but many of them said, He has a demon and raves; why do ye hear him?
21 Others said, These sayings are not those of one that is possessed by a demon. Can a demon open blind people's eyes?
22 Now the feast of the dedication was celebrating at Jerusalem, and it was winter.
23 And Jesus walked in the temple in the porch of Solomon.
24 The Jews therefore surrounded him, and said to him, Until when dost thou hold our soul in suspense? If thou art the Christ, say so to us openly.
25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye do not believe. The works which I do in my Father's name, these bear witness concerning me:
26 but ye do not believe, for ye are not of my sheep, as I told you.
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me;
28 and I give them life eternal; and they shall never perish, and no one shall seize them out of my hand.
29 My Father who has given them to me is greater than all, and no one can seize out of the hand of my Father.
30 I and the Father are one.
31 The Jews therefore again took stones that they might stone him.

John 10:3-31 in Douay-Rheims 1899

3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
4 And when he hath let out his own sheep, he goeth before them: and the sheep follow him, because they know his voice.
5 But a stranger they follow not, but fly from him, because they know not the voice of strangers.
6 This proverb Jesus spoke to them. But they understood not what he spoke to them.
7 Jesus therefore said to them again: Amen, amen I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
8 All others, as many as have come, are thieves and robbers: and the sheep heard them not.
9 I am the door. By me, if any man enter in, he shall be saved: and he shall go in, and go out, and shall find pastures.
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I am come that they may have life, and may have it more abundantly.
11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd giveth his life for his sheep.
12 But the hireling, and he that is not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and flieth: and the wolf catcheth, and scattereth the sheep:
13 And the hireling flieth, because he is a hireling: and he hath no care for the sheep.
14 I am the good shepherd; and I know mine, and mine know me.
15 As the Father knoweth me, and I know the Father: and I lay down my life for my sheep.
16 And other sheep I have, that are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice, and there shall be one fold and one shepherd.
17 Therefore doth the Father love me: because I lay down my life, that I may take it again.
18 No man taketh it away from me: but I lay it down of myself, and I have power to lay it down: and I have power to take it up again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
19 A dissension rose again among the Jews for these words.
20 And many of them said: He hath a devil, and is mad: why hear you him?
21 Others said: These are not the words of one that hath a devil: Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?
22 And it was the feast of the dedication at Jerusalem: and it was winter.
23 And Jesus walked in the temple, in Solomon’s porch.
24 The Jews therefore came round about him, and said to him: How long dost thou hold our souls in suspense? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.
25 Jesus answered them: I speak to you, and you believe not: the works that I do in the name of my Father, they give testimony of me.
26 But you do not believe, because you are not of my sheep.
27 My sheep hear my voice: and I know them, and they follow me.
28 And I give them life everlasting; and they shall not perish for ever, and no man shall pluck them out of my hand.
29 That which my Father hath given me, is greater than all: and no one can snatch them out of the hand of my Father.
30 I and the Father are one.
31 The Jews then took up stones to stone him.

John 10:3-31 in English Majority Text Version

3 To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and he leads them out.
4 And whenever he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, because they know his voice.
5 But they will by no means follow a stranger, but they will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.”
6 This illustration Jesus spoke to them, but they did not understand the things which He spoke to them.
7 Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
8 All who came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them.
9 I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and go out, and will find pasture.
10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.
12 But a hired hand, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them.
13 But the hired hand flees because he is a hired hand, and is not concerned about the sheep.
14 I am the good shepherd; and I know My own, and I am known by My own.
15 Just as the Father knows Me, I also know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.
16 And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; those also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.
17 “For this reason My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it up again.
18 No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This command I have received from My Father.”
19 Therefore there was a division again among the Jews because of these words.
20 And many of them said, “He has a demon and is raving mad. Why do you listen to Him?”
21 Others said, “These are not the words of one being demon-possessed. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?”
22 Now it was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem, and it was winter.
23 And Jesus was walking in the temple, in Solomon's porch.
24 Then the Jews encircled Him and said to Him, “How long will You keep us in suspense? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly.”
25 Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father's name, these things testify about Me.
26 But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, just as I said to you.
27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
28 And I give to them eternal life, and they shall never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.
29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand.

31 Therefore the Jews took up stones again to stone Him.

John 10:3-31 in The New Testament with Commentary

3 To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
4 And whenever he takes out his own sheep he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice.
5 But they will not follow a stranger; rather they will run away from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers.”
6 Jesus gave them this illustration, but they did not understand what He was telling them.
7 Then Jesus addressed them again: “Most assuredly I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
8 All who ever came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them.
9 I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.
10 The thief comes only in order to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come so that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life on behalf of the sheep.
12 But the hired man, not being the shepherd and not owning the sheep, sees the wolf coming and abandons the sheep, and runs away; and the wolf snatches the sheep and scatters them.
13 Now the hired man runs away because he is a hired man and it does not matter to him about the sheep.
14 “I am the good shepherd, and I know my own sheep, and I am known by them.
15 Just as the Father knows me, I also know the Father, and I lay down my life on behalf of the sheep.
16 I also have other sheep, that are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice; and there will be one flock, one shepherd.
17 “Because of this the Father loves me, in that I lay down my life so that I may take it up again.
18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This command I have received from my Father.”
19 Therefore there was another division among the Jews because of these words.
20 Many of them were saying: “He has a demon and is raving mad. Why do you listen to him?”
21 Others were saying: “These are not the sayings of someone who is demonized. A demon cannot open blind people's eyes, can it?”
22 Now it was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem; and it was winter.
23 And Jesus was walking about in the temple, in Solomon's porch.
24 Then the Jews surrounded Him and said to Him: “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly.”
25 Jesus answered them: “I did tell you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father's name—these testify concerning me.
26 But you do not believe because you are not among my sheep, just like I told you.
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
28 And I give them eternal life, and they will never ever be wasted; and no one will snatch them out of my hand.
29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch out of my Father's hand.
30 I and the Father are one.”
31 Therefore the Jews picked up stones again to stone Him.

John 10:3-31 in Free Bible Version

3 The gatekeeper opens it for him, and the sheep respond to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out.
4 After bringing them out, he walks ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they recognize his voice.
5 They won't follow strangers. In fact they run away from a stranger because they don't recognize the voice of strangers.”
6 When Jesus gave this illustration those who were listening to him didn't understand what he meant.
7 So Jesus explained again, “I tell you the truth: I am the gate of the sheepfold.
8 All those who came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep didn't listen to them.
9 I am the gate. Anyone who comes in through me will be healed. They will be able to come and go, and find the food they need.
10 The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. I've come to bring you life, life full to overflowing.
11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
12 The man paid to look after the sheep is not the shepherd and he runs away when he sees the wolf coming. He abandons the sheep because they're not his, and the wolf attacks and scatters the flock
13 for the man is only working for pay and doesn't care about the sheep.
14 I am the good shepherd. I know who are mine, and they know me,
15 just as the Father knows me and I know him. I lay down my life for the sheep.
16 I have other sheep that are not in this sheepfold. I must bring them too. They will listen to my voice and there will be one flock with one shepherd.
17 This is why the Father loves me, because I lay down my life so I may take it up again.
18 No one takes it from me; I choose to lay it down. I have the right to give it up, and I have the right to take it back. This is the command my Father gave me.”
19 The Jews were again divided in their opinion about Jesus over these words.
20 Many of them said, “He's demon-possessed! He's mad! Why are you listening to him?”
21 Others said, “These aren't the words of someone who's demon-possessed. Besides, a demon can't open eyes that are blind.”
22 It was winter, and the time of the Festival of Dedication in Jerusalem.
23 Jesus was walking in the Temple through Solomon's porch. The Jews surrounded him, asking,
24 “How long are you going to keep us hanging in suspense? If you are the Messiah then tell us plainly!”
25 Jesus replied, “I already told you but you refuse to believe it. The miracles I do in my Father's name prove who I am.
26 You don't believe me because you are not my sheep.
27 My sheep recognize my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
28 I give them eternal life; they shall never be lost, and no one can snatch them from me.
29 My Father who gave them to me is greater than anyone else; no one can snatch them from him.
30 I and the Father are one.”
31 Once again the Jews picked up stones to stone him.

5 And they will not follow a stranger, but they flee from him: for they know not the voyce of strangers.

7 Then sayd Iesus vnto them againe, Verely, verely I say vnto you, I am that doore of the sheepe.
8 All, that euer came before me, are theeues and robbers: but the sheepe did not heare them.
9 I am that doore: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saued, and shall go in, and go out, and finde pasture.
10 The theefe commeth not, but for to steale, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might haue life, and haue it in abundance.
11 I am that good shepheard: that good shepheard giueth his life for his sheepe.
12 But an hireling, and hee which is not the shepheard, neither the sheepe are his owne, seeth the wolfe comming, and hee leaueth the sheepe, and fleeth, and the wolfe catcheth them, and scattreth the sheepe.

26 But ye beleeue not: for ye are not of my sheepe, as I sayd vnto you.
27 My sheepe heare my voyce, and I knowe them, and they follow me,

19 Again there arose a division among the Jews on account of these words.

4 When he has brought them all out, he walks in front of them, and his sheep follow him, because they know his voice.
5 They will not follow a stranger, but will run away from him; because they do not know a stranger's voice.”
6 This was the allegory that Jesus told them, but they did not understand of what he was speaking.
7 So he continued, “In truth I tell you, I am the door for the sheep.
8 All who came before me were thieves and robbers; but the sheep did not listen to them.
9 I am the door; he who goes in through me will be safe, and he will go in and out and find pasture.
10 The thief comes only to steal, to kill, and to destroy; I have come so that they may have life, and may have it in greater fullness.
11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for his sheep.
12 The hired man who is not a shepherd, and who does not own the sheep, when he sees a wolf coming, leaves them and runs away; then the wolf seizes them, and scatters the flock.
13 He does this because he is only a hired man and does not care about the sheep.
14 I am the good shepherd; and I know my sheep, and my sheep know me —
15 Just as the Father knows me and I know the Father — and I lay down my life for the sheep.
16 I have other sheep besides, which do not belong to this fold; I must lead them also, and they will listen to my voice; and they will become one flock under one shepherd.
17 This is why the Father loves me, because I lay down my life — to receive it again.
18 No one took it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to receive it again. This is the command which I received from my Father.”
19 In consequence of these words a difference of opinion again arose amongst the people.
20 Many of them said, “He is possessed by a demon and is mad; why do you listen to him?”
21 Others said, “This is not the teaching of one who is possessed by a demon. Can a demon give sight to the blind?”
22 Soon after this the Festival of the Rededication was held at Jerusalem.
23 It was winter; and Jesus was walking in the Temple Courts, in the Colonnade of Solomon,
24 when the people gathered around him, and said, “How long are you going to keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us so frankly.”
25 “I have told you so,” replied Jesus, “and you do not believe me. The work that I am doing in my Father's name bears testimony to me.
26 But you do not believe me, because you are not of my flock.
27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me;
28 and I give them eternal life, and they will not be lost; nor will anyone snatch them out of my hands.
29 What my Father has entrusted to me is more than all else; and no one can snatch anything out of the Father's hands.

31 Some of the people again brought stones to throw at him;

19 In consequence of these words a difference of opinion again arose among the people.
27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me;
28 and I give them eternal life, and they will not be lost; nor will anyone snatch them out of my hands.
29 What my Father has entrusted to me is more than all else; and no one can snatch anything out of the Father's hands.
30 The Father and I are one.”
31 Some of the people again brought stones to throw at him;

3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out.
4 Whenever he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.
5 They will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him; for they don’t know the voice of strangers.”
6 Yeshua Salvation spoke this parable to them, but they didn’t understand what he was telling them.
7 Yeshua Salvation therefore said to them again, “Most certainly, I tell you, Ena Na I AM (the Living God) the sheep’s door.
8 All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep didn’t listen to them.
9 Ena Na I AM (the Living God) the door. If anyone enters in by me, he will be saved, and will go in and go out, and will find pasture.
10 The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly.
11 Ena Na I AM (the Living God) the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
12 He who is a hired hand, and not a shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming, leaves the sheep, and flees. The wolf snatches the sheep, and scatters them.
13 The hired hand flees because he is a hired hand, and does not care for the sheep.
14 Ena Na I AM (the Living God) the good shepherd. I know my own, and I’m known by my own;
15 even as Abba ·Father familiar, Dear Dad· knows me, and I know Abba Father. I lay down my life for the sheep.
16 I have other sheep, which are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will hear my voice. They will become one flock with one shepherd.
17 For this reason haAbba ·the Father· has agapao ·total devotion love· unto me, because I lay down my life so that I may take it again.
18 No one takes it away from me, but I lay it down by myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. I received this commandment from 'Avi ·my Father·.”
19 Therefore a division arose again among the Jews Praisers because of these words.
20 Many of them said, “He has a demon, and is insane! Why do you listen to him?”
21 Others said, “These are not the sayings of one possessed by a demon. It is not possible for a demon to open the eyes of the blind, is it?”
22 Then came the Festival of Chanukah ·Dedication· at Jerusalem City of peace. (This occurs in the ninth month 25th day to tenth month 2nd day).
23 It was winter, and Yeshua Salvation was walking in the temple, in Solomon Peaceable, Recompense’s portico (where one can see the four giant menorahs).
24 The Jews Praisers therefore came around him and said to him, “How long will you hold us in suspense? If you are the Messiah Anointed one, tell us plainly.”
25 Yeshua Salvation answered them, “I told you, and you don’t believe. The works that I do in 'Avi ·my Father·’s name, these testify about me.
26 But you don’t believe, because you are not of my sheep, as I told you.
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
28 I give eternal life to them. They will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.
29 'Avi My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of 'Avi ·my Father·’s hand.
30 I and Abba ·Father familiar, Dear Dad· are one.”
31 Therefore Jews Praisers took up stones again to stone him.

5 A straunger they will not folowe but will flye from him: for they knowe not the voyce of straungers.
6 This similitude spake Iesus vnto them. But they vnderstode not what thinges they were which he spake vnto them.
7 Then sayde Iesus vnto them agayne. Verely verely I saye vnto you: I am the dore of the shepe.
8 All even as many as came before me are theves and robbers: but the shepe dyd not heare them.
9 I am the dore: by me yf eny man enter in he shalbe safe and shall goo in and out and fynde pasture.
10 The thefe cometh not but forto steale kyll and destroye. I am come that they myght have lyfe and have it more aboundantly.

16 and other shepe I have which are not of this folde. Them also must I bringe that they maye heare my voyce and that ther maye be one flocke and one shepeherde.
17 Therfore doth my father love me because I put my lyfe from me that I myght take it agayne.
18 No man taketh it from me: but I put it awaye of my selfe. I have power to put it from me and have power to take it agayne: This commaundment have I receaved of my father.
19 And ther was a dissencion agayne amonge the Iewes for these sayinges
20 and many of them sayd. He hath the devyll and is mad: why heare ye him?
21 Other sayde these are not the wordes of him that hath the devyll. Can the devyll open the eyes of the blynde?
22 And it was at Ierusalem the feaste of the dedicacion and it was wynter:

24 Then came the Iewes rounde aboute him and sayde vnto him: How longe dost thou make vs doute? Yf thou be Christ tell vs playnly.
25 Iesus answered them: I tolde you and ye beleve not. The workes that I do in my fathers name they beare witnes of me.

3 To this the porter openeth, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
4 And when he hath done out or hath sent out his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep pursue him; for they know his voice.
5 But they pursue not an alien, but flee from him; for they have not known the voice of aliens.
6 Jesus said to them this proverb; but they knew not what he spake to them.
7 Therefore Jesus said to them again, Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
8 As many as have come, were night thieves and day thieves, but the sheep heard not them.
9 I am the door. If any man shall enter by me, he shall be saved; and he shall go in, and shall go out, and he shall find pastures.
10 A night thief cometh not, but that he steal, slay, and lose; and I came, that they have life, and have more plenteously.
11 I am a good shepherd; a good shepherd giveth his life for his sheep.
12 But an hired hind, and that is not the shepherd, whose be not the sheep his own or whose the sheep be not his own, seeth a wolf coming, and he leaveth the sheep, and fleeth; and the wolf ravisheth, and disperseth, or scattereth, the sheep.
13 And the hired hind fleeth, for he is an hired hind, and it pertaineth not to him of the sheep.
14 I am a good shepherd, and I know my sheep, and my sheep know me.
15 As the Father hath known me, I know the Father; and I put my life for my sheep.
16 I have other sheep, that be not of this fold, and it behooveth me to bring them together, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be made one fold and one shepherd.
17 Therefore the Father loveth me, for I put my life, that again I take it.
18 No man taketh it from me, but I put it of myself. I have power to put it, and I have power to take it again. This commandment I have taken of my Father.
19 Again dissension was made among the Jews for these words.
20 And many of them said, He hath a devil, and maddeth, or waxeth mad; what hear ye him?
21 Other men said, These words be not of a man that hath a devil. Whether the devil or a devil may open the eyes of blind men?
22 But the feasts of hallowing of the temple were made in Jerusalem, and it was winter.
23 And Jesus walked in the temple, in the porch of Solomon.
24 Therefore the Jews came about him, and said to him, How long takest thou away our soul? if thou art Christ, say thou to us openly or plainly.
25 Jesus answered to them, I speak to you, and ye believe not; the works that I do in the name of my Father, bear witnessing of me.
26 But ye believe not, for ye be not of my sheep.
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they pursue me.
28 And I give to them everlasting life, and they shall not perish without end, and none shall ravish them out of mine hand.
29 That thing that my Father gave to me, is more than all things; and no man may ravish from my Father’s hand.
30 I and the Father be one.
31 The Jews took up stones, to stone him.

John 10:3-31 in Wycliffe's Bible with Modern Spelling (Enhanced)

3 To this the porter openeth, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
4 And when he hath done out or he hath sent out his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep (pur)sue him (or and the sheep follow him); for they know his voice.
5 But they (pur)sue not an alien, but flee from him; for they have not known the voice of aliens. (But they do not follow a stranger, but flee from him; for they do not know the voice of strangers.)
6 Jesus said to them this proverb; but they knew not what he spake to them.
7 Therefore Jesus said to them again, Truly, truly, I say to you, (or Truly, I tell you the truth), I am the door of the sheep.
8 As many as have come, were night thieves and day thieves, but the sheep heard not them (or but the sheep did not listen to them).
9 I am the door. If any man shall enter by me, he shall be saved; and he shall go in, and shall go out, and he shall find pastures.
10 A night thief cometh not, no but that he steal, slay, and lose, (or except to steal, kill, and destroy); and I came, (so) that they (can) have life, and have (it) more plenteously.
11 I am a good shepherd; a good shepherd giveth his life for his sheep.
12 But an hired hind, and that is not the shepherd, (or But a hired hand, and who is not the shepherd), whose be not the sheep his own or whose the sheep be not his own, seeth a wolf coming, and he leaveth the sheep, and fleeth; and the wolf ravisheth (or snatcheth up), and scattereth the sheep.
13 And the hired hind fleeth, for he is an hired hind, (or And the hired hand fleeth, for he is but a hired hand), and it pertaineth not to him of the sheep.
14 I am a good shepherd, and I know my sheep, and my sheep know me.
15 As the Father hath known me, I know the Father; and I put (forth or lay down) my life for my sheep.
16 I have other sheep, that be not of this fold, and it behooveth me to bring them together, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be made one fold and one shepherd.
17 Therefore the Father loveth me, for I put (forth) my life, that again I take it. (And so the Father loveth me, for I lay down my life, so that I can receive it back again.)
18 No man taketh it from me, but I put it of myself. I have power to put it, and I have power to take it again. This commandment I have taken of my Father. (No one taketh it from me, but I lay it down by myself. I have the power to put it forth, and I have the power to receive it back again. This commandment I have received from my Father.)
19 Again dissension was made among the Jews for these words.
20 And many of them said, He hath a devil, and maddeth, or waxeth mad; what hear ye him? (or why listen to him?)
21 Other men said, These words be not of a man that hath a devil. Whether the devil may open the eyes of blind men? or Whether a devil may open the eyes of blind men?
22 But the feasts of (the) hallowing of the temple (or the Feast or the Festival of Dedication) were made in Jerusalem, and it was winter.
23 And Jesus walked in the temple, in (or on) the porch of Solomon.
24 Therefore the Jews came about him, and said to him, How long takest thou away our soul? if thou art Christ (or if thou art the Messiah), say thou to us openly or plainly.
25 Jesus answered to them, I speak to you, and ye believe not; the works that I do in the name of my Father, bear witnessing of me (or testify about me).
26 But ye believe not, for ye be not of my sheep.
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they (pur)sue me (or and they follow me).
28 And I give to them everlasting life, and they shall not perish into without end, and none shall ravish them out of mine hand. (And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand.)
29 That thing that my Father gave to me, is more than all things; and no man may ravish (them), (or can snatch them), from my Father’s hand.
30 I and the Father be one.
31 The Jews took up stones, to stone him.

John 10:3-31 in Wycliffe Bible

3 To this the porter openeth, and the scheep heren his vois, and he clepith his owne scheep bi name, and ledith hem out.
4 And whanne he hath don out his owne scheep, he goith bifor hem, and the scheep suen hym; for thei knowun his vois.
5 But thei suen not an alien, but fleen from hym; for thei han not knowun the vois of aliens.
6 Jhesus seide to hem this prouerbe; but thei knewen not what he spak to hem.
7 Therfor Jhesus seide to hem eftsoone, Treuli, treuli, Y seie to you, that Y am the dore of the scheep.
8 As many as han come, weren nyyt theues and day theues, but the scheep herden not hem.
9 Y am the dore. If ony man schal entre bi me, he schal be sauyd; and he schal go ynne, and schal go out, and he schal fynde lesewis.
10 A nyyt theef cometh not, but that he stele, sle, and leese; and Y cam, that thei han lijf, and haue more plenteousli.
11 I am a good scheepherde; a good scheepherde yyueth his lijf for hise scheep.
12 But an hirid hyne, and that is not the scheepherde, whos ben not the scheep his owne, seeth a wolf comynge, and he leeueth the scheep, and fleeth; and the wolf rauyschith, and disparplith the scheep.
13 And the hirid hyne fleeth, for he is an hirid hyne, and it parteyneth not to hym of the scheep.
14 Y am a good scheepherde, and Y knowe my scheep, and my scheep knowen me.
15 As the fadir hath knowun me, Y knowe the fadir; and Y putte my lijf for my scheep.
16 Y haue othere scheep, that ben not of this foolde, and it bihoueth me to brynge hem togidir, and thei schulen here my vois; and it schal be maad o foolde and o scheepherde.
17 Therfor the fadir loueth me, for Y putte my lijf, that eftsoone Y take it.
18 No man takith it fro me, but Y putte it of my silf. Y haue power to putte it, and Y haue power to take it ayen. This maundement Y haue takun of my fadir.
19 Eft dissencioun was maad among the Jewis for these wordis.
20 And many of hem seiden, He hath a deuel, and maddith; what heren ye hym?
21 Othere men seiden, These wordis ben not of a man that hath a feend. Whether the deuel may opene the iyen of blynde men?
22 But the feestis of halewyng of the temple weren maad in Jerusalem, and it was wyntir.
23 And Jhesus walkide in the temple, in the porche of Salomon.
24 Therfor the Jewis camen aboute hym, and seiden to hym, Hou long takist thou awei oure soule? if thou art Crist, seie thou to vs opynli.
25 Jhesus answerde to hem, Y speke to you, and ye bileuen not; the werkis that Y do in the name of my fadir, beren witnessyng of me.
26 But ye bileuen not, for ye ben not of my scheep.
27 My scheep heren my vois, and Y knowe hem, and thei suen me.
28 And Y yyue to hem euerelastynge lijf, and thei schulen not perische with outen ende, and noon schal rauysche hem fro myn hoond.
29 That thing that my fadir yaf to me, is more than alle thingis; and no man may rauysche fro my fadris hoond.
30 Y and the fadir ben oon.
31 The Jewis token vp stoonys, to stoone hym.
John 10 in Wycliffe Bible

John 10:3-31 in Young's Literal Translation

3 to this one the doorkeeper doth open, and the sheep hear his voice, and his own sheep he doth call by name, and doth lead them forth;
4 and when his own sheep he may put forth, before them he goeth on, and the sheep follow him, because they have known his voice;
5 and a stranger they will not follow, but will flee from him, because they have not known the voice of strangers.'
6 This similitude spake Jesus to them, and they knew not what the things were that he was speaking to them;
7 Jesus said therefore again to them, 'Verily, verily, I say to you — I am the door of the sheep;
8 all, as many as came before me, are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them;
9 I am the door, through me if any one may come in, he shall be saved, and he shall come in, and go out, and find pasture.
10 'The thief doth not come, except that he may steal, and kill, and destroy; I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly.
11 'I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd his life layeth down for the sheep;
12 and the hireling, and not being a shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, doth behold the wolf coming, and doth leave the sheep, and doth flee; and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep;
13 and the hireling doth flee because he is an hireling, and is not caring for the sheep.
14 'I am the good shepherd, and I know my sheep, and am known by mine,
15 according as the Father doth know me, and I know the Father, and my life I lay down for the sheep,
16 and other sheep I have that are not of this fold, these also it behoveth me to bring, and my voice they will hear, and there shall become one flock — one shepherd.
17 'Because of this doth the Father love me, because I lay down my life, that again I may take it;
18 no one doth take it from me, but I lay it down of myself; authority I have to lay it down, and authority I have again to take it; this command I received from my Father.'
19 Therefore, again, there came a division among the Jews, because of these words,
20 and many of them said, 'He hath a demon, and is mad, why do ye hear him?'
21 others said, 'These sayings are not those of a demoniac; is a demon able blind men's eyes to open?'
22 And the dedication in Jerusalem came, and it was winter,
23 and Jesus was walking in the temple, in the porch of Solomon,
24 the Jews, therefore, came round about him, and said to him, 'Till when our soul dost thou hold in suspense? if thou art the Christ, tell us freely.'
25 Jesus answered them, 'I told you, and ye do not believe; the works that I do in the name of my Father, these testify concerning me;
26 but ye do not believe, for ye are not of my sheep,
27 according as I said to you: My sheep my voice do hear, and I know them, and they follow me,
28 and life age-during I give to them, and they shall not perish — to the age, and no one shall pluck them out of my hand;
29 my Father, who hath given to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to pluck out of the hand of my Father;
30 I and the Father are one.'
31 Therefore, again, did the Jews take up stones that they may stone him;
