Job 34:18-34 in American Standard Version (1901)

18 Him that saith to a king, Thou art vile, Or to nobles, Ye are wicked;
19 That respecteth not the persons of princes, Nor regardeth the rich more than the poor; For they all are the work of his hands.
20 In a moment they die, even at midnight; The people are shaken and pass away, And the mighty are taken away without hand.
21 For his eyes are upon the ways of a man, And he seeth all his goings.
22 There is no darkness, nor thick gloom, Where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.
23 For he needeth not further to consider a man, That he should go before God in judgment.
24 He breaketh in pieces mighty men in ways past finding out, And setteth others in their stead.
25 Therefore he taketh knowledge of their works; And he overturneth them in the night, so that they are destroyed.
26 He striketh them as wicked men In the open sight of others;
27 Because they turned aside from following him, And would not have regard in any of his ways:
28 So that they caused the cry of the poor to come unto him, And he heard the cry of the afflicted.
29 When he giveth quietness, who then can condemn? And when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? Alike whether it be done unto a nation, or unto a man:
30 That the godless man reign not, That there be none to ensnare the people.
31 For hath any said unto God, I have borne chastisement, I will not offend any more:
32 That which I see not teach thou me: If I have done iniquity, I will do it no more?
33 Shall his recompense be as thou wilt, that thou refusest it? For thou must choose, and not I: Therefore speak what thou knowest.
34 Men of understanding will say unto me, Yea, every wise man that heareth me:
Job 34 in American Standard Version (1901)

Job 34:18-34 in Brenton Septuagint Translation

18 He is ungodly that says to a king, Thou art a transgressor, that says to princes, O most ungodly one.
19 Such a one as would not reverence the face of an honourable man, neither knows how to give honour to the great, so as that their persons should be respected.
20 But it shall turn out vanity to them, to cry and beseech a man; for they dealt unlawfully, the poor being turned aside from their right.
21 For he surveys the works of men, and nothing of what they do has escaped him.
22 Neither shall there be a place for the workers of iniquity to hide themselves.
23 For he will not lay upon a man more than right.
24 For the Lord looks down upon all men, who comprehends unsearchable things, glorious also and excellent things without number.
25 Who discovers their works, and will bring night about upon them, and they shall be brought low.
26 And he quite destroys the ungodly, for they are seen before him.
27 Because they turned aside from the law of God, and did not regard his ordinances,
28 so as to bring before him the cry of the needy; for he will hear the cry of the poor.
29 And he will give quiet, and who will condemn? and he will hide his face, and who shall see him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man also:
30 causing a hypocrite to be king, because of the waywardness of the people.
31 For there is one that says to the Mighty One, I have received blessings; I will not take a pledge:
32 I will see apart from myself: do thou shew me if I have done unrighteousness; I will not do so any more.
33 Will he take vengeance for it on thee, whereas thou wilt put it far from thee? for thou shalt choose, and not I; and what thou knowest, speak thou.
34 Because the wise in heart shall say this, and a wise man listens to my word.

Job 34:18-34 in Translation for Translators

18 He tells some kings that they are worthless, and he says to some officials that they are wicked.
19 He does not favor rulers more than he favors others; he does not favor rich people more than poor people, because he created all of them.
20 People often die suddenly; he strikes them at midnight and they die; he even gets rid of mighty people without the help of any humans SYN.
21 He sees MTY everything that people do; when we walk, he watches every step that we take.
22 There is no gloom or darkness DOU that is so dark that sinners can hide from him in that darkness.
23 God does not need to set a time when we will stand in front of him in order that he may judge us. He can judge us whenever he wants to.
24 He destroys mighty people without needing to investigate what they have done, and he appoints others to take their places.
25 Because he already knows what they have done, he removes them at night and gets rid of them.
26 Where many people can see it, he strikes/punishes them because of the wicked things that they have done;
27 he strikes them because they turned away from doing what he wanted them to do and did not pay attention to any of his commands.
28 They mistreated the poor people, with the result that those poor people cried out to God for help, and he heard those afflicted people when they cried out to him.
29 But if God decides to do nothing to punish wicked people, no one can criticize/condemn him. If a godless/wicked man rules a nation, a man who tricks/deceives the people,
30 and if God hides his face with the result that he does not see that ruler or punish him, no one will be able to prevent that ruler doing those things.
31 Job, have you or anyone else ever said to God, ‘I have been punished for my sins, and I will not sin anymore;
32 so teach/show me what sins I have committed; if I have done anything that is evil, I will not do it any more’?
33 Job, you object to what God has done to you, but do you think that he will do what you want him to do? It is you who must choose what you say to God, not I; so tell me what you are thinking about this.
34 People who have good sense, those who are wise and who listen to what I say, will say to me,

18 He who says to a king, You are an evil-doer; and to rulers, You are sinners;
19 Who has no respect for rulers, and who gives no more attention to those who have wealth than to the poor, for they are all the work of his hands.
20 Suddenly they come to an end, even in the middle of the night: the blow comes on the men of wealth, and they are gone, and the strong are taken away without the hand of man.
21 For his eyes are on the ways of a man, and he sees all his steps.
22 There is no dark place, and no thick cloud, in which the workers of evil may take cover.
23 For he does not give man a fixed time to come before him to be judged.
24 He sends the strong to destruction without searching out their cause, and puts others in their place.
25 For he has knowledge of their works, overturning them in the night, so that they are crushed.
26 The evil-doers are broken by his wrath, he puts his hand on them with force before the eyes of all onlookers.
27 Because they did not go after him, and took no note of his ways,
28 So that the cry of the poor might come up to him, and the prayer of those in need come to his ears.

18 Who saith to the king: Thou art an apostate: who calleth rulers ungodly?
19 Who accepteth not the persons of princes: nor hath regarded the tyrant, when he contended against the poor man: for all are the work of his hands.
20 They shall suddenly die, and the people shall be troubled at midnight, and they shall pass, and take away the violent without hand.
21 For his eyes are upon the ways of men, and he considereth all their steps.
22 There is no darkness, and there is no shadow of death, where they may be hid who work iniquity.
23 For it is no longer in the power of man to enter into judgment with God.
24 He shall break in pieces many and innumerable, and shall make others to stand in their stead.
25 For he knoweth their works: and therefore he shall bring night on them, and they shall be destroyed.
26 He hath struck them, as being wicked, in open sight.
27 Who as it were on purpose have revolted from him, and would not understand all his ways:
28 So that they caused the cry of the needy to come to him, and he heard the voice of the poor.
29 For when he granteth peace, who is there that can condemn? When he hideth his countenance, who is there that can behold him, whether it regard nations, or all men?
30 Who maketh a man that is a hypocrite to reign for the sins of the people?
31 Seeing then I have spoken of God, I will not hinder thee in thy turn.
32 If I have erred, teach thou me: if I have spoken iniquity, I will add no more.

Job 34:18-34 in Free Bible Version

18 He's the one who tells kings, ‘You're useless!’ or says to nobles, ‘You're wicked!’
19 He doesn't think more of the rich than the poor, for they are all people he himself made.
20 They die in a moment; at midnight they shudder and pass away; the mighty are gone without effort.
21 For he watches what they're doing and sees everywhere they go.
22 There is no darkness so deep where people who do evil can hide themselves from him.
23 God doesn't need to examine anyone in any greater detail that they should come before him for judgment.
24 He brings down the mighty without needing an investigation; he sets up others in their place.
25 Knowing what they've done he overthrows them in a night and destroys them.
26 He strikes them down for their wickedness in public where they can be seen
27 because they turned away from following him, disregarding all his ways.
28 They made the poor call out to him, and he heard the cries of the oppressed.
29 Yet if God wants to remain silent, who can condemn him? If he chooses to hide his face, who can see him? Whether it concerns a nation or an individual,
30 a person who rejects God should not rule so they don't mislead people.
31 If you were to say to God, ‘I have sinned, but I won't do bad things any more.
32 Show me what I cannot see. If I have done wrong, I won't do it again,’
33 then should God reward you for following your own opinions since you have rejected his? You're the one who has to choose, not me! Tell us what you think.
34 For people who understand—those who are wise who have heard what I said—will tell me,

21 For his eyes are vpon the wayes of man, and he seeth all his goings.
22 There is no darkenesse nor shadowe of death, that the workers of iniquitie might be hid therein.
23 For he will not lay on man so much, that he should enter into iudgement with God.
24 He shall breake the mightie without seeking, and shall set vp other in their stead.
25 Therefore shall he declare their works: he shall turne the night, and they shalbe destroyed.
26 He striketh them as wicked men in the places of the seers,
27 Because they haue turned backe from him, and would not consider all his wayes:
28 So that they haue caused the voyce of the poore to come vnto him, and he hath heard the cry of the afflicted.
29 And when he giueth quietnesse, who can make trouble? and when he hideth his face, who can beholde him, whether it be vpon nations, or vpon a man onely?
30 Because the hypocrite doeth reigne, and because the people are snared.

20 In a moment they die, even at midnight; the people are shaken and pass away, and the mighty are taken away without hand.
21 For His eyes are upon the ways of a man, and He seeth all his goings.
22 There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.
23 For He doth not appoint a time unto any man, when he should go before God in judgment.
24 He breaketh in pieces mighty men without inquisition, and setteth others in their stead.
25 Therefore He taketh knowledge of their works; and He overturneth them in the night, so that they are crushed.
26 He striketh them as wicked men in the open sight of others;
27 Because they turned aside from following Him, and would not have regard to any of His ways;
28 So that they cause the cry of the poor to come unto Him, and He heareth the cry of the afflicted.
29 When He giveth quietness, who then can condemn? And when He hideth His face, who then can behold Him? whether it be done unto a nation, or unto a man, alike;
30 That the godless man reign not, that there be none to ensnare the people.
31 For hath any said unto God: 'I have borne chastisement, though I offend not;
32 That which I see not teach Thou me; if I have done iniquity, I will do it no more'?
33 Shall His recompense be as thou wilt? For thou loathest it, so that thou must choose, and not I; therefore speak what thou knowest.

Job 34:18-34 in Isaac Leeser Tanakh

18 Is it fit to say to a king, Thou art worthless? and to princes, Ye are wicked?
19 Whereas he is one that showeth no favor to chieftains, and distinguisheth not the rich before the indigent; for all of them are the work of his hands.
20 In a moment will they die, and in the midst of the night; people are moved, and pass away: and the mighty will be removed without a human hand.
21 For big eyes are upon the ways of man, and all his steps doth he see.
22 There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the evil-doers can hide themselves.
23 For he need not direct his attention a long time upon man, that he should enter into judgment before God.
24 He breaketh down mighty men without long searching, and placeth others in their stead.
25 For the reason that he knoweth their deeds: therefore he overturneth them in the night, and they are crushed.
26 Among wicked men doth he strike them, in the place where many see them:
27 Because they have departed from following him, and have not considered all his ways.
28 Bringing before them the cry of the indigent, and the cry of the afflicted which he had to hear.
29 When he now granteth rest, who will condemn him! and when he hideth his face, who can behold him? whether it be against a nation, or against one man, it is the same:
30 That no hypocritical man may reign, that such shall not be a mare to the people.
31 For truly it is only fitting to say unto God, “I bear cheerfully, I will not do any wrong;
32 What I cannot see myself, do thou truly teach me; if I have done what is unjust, I will do so no more.”
33 Should he then according to thy view send a recompense, because thou hast rejected him? “Because thou must choose, and not I?” and what thou knowest, do speak.
34 Men of sense will say unto me, and every wise man who heareth me,

Job 34:18-34 in Updated Brenton English Septuagint

18 He is ungodly that says to a king, Thou art a transgressor, That says to princes, O most ungodly one.
19 Such a one as would not reverence the face of an honorable man, Neither knows how to give honor to the great, So that their persons should be respected.
32 I will see apart from myself: Do thou show me if I have done unrighteousness; I will not do so anymore.
33 Will he take vengeance for it on thee, Whereas thou wilt put it far from thee? For thou shalt choose, and not I; And what thou knowest, speak thou.
34 Because the wise in heart shall say this, And a wise man listens to my word.

18 Is it fit to say to a king, Thou art wicked; Or to princes, Ye are unrighteous?
19 How much less to him that is not partial to princes, Nor regardeth the rich more than the poor? For they are all the work of his hands.
20 In a moment they die; yea, at midnight Do the people stagger and pass away, And the mighty are destroyed without hand.
21 For his eyes are upon the ways of man; He seeth all his steps.
22 There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, Where evil-doers may hide themselves.
23 He needeth not attend long to a man, That he may go into judgment before God;
24 He dasheth in pieces the mighty without inquiry, And setteth up others in their stead.
25 Therefore he knoweth their works, And in a night he overthroweth them, so that they are destroyed.
26 On account of their wickedness he smiteth them, In the presence of many beholders;
27 Because they turned away from him, And had no regard to his ways,
28 And caused the cry of the poor to come before him; For he heareth the cry of the oppressed.
29 When he giveth rest, who can cause trouble? And when he hideth his face, Who can behold him?
30 So is it with nations and individuals alike! That the wicked may no more rule, And may not be snares to the people.
31 Surely thou shouldst say unto God, “I have received chastisement; I will no more offend;

18 God, who says to a king, 'You are vile,' or says to nobles, 'You are wicked'?
19 God, who does not show favoritism to leaders and does not acknowledge rich people more than poor, for they all are the work of his hands.
20 In a moment they will die; at midnight people will be shaken and will pass away; mighty people will be taken away, but not by human hands.
21 For God's eyes are upon a person's ways; he sees all his steps.
22 There is no darkness, no thick gloom where the doers of iniquity may hide themselves.
23 For God does not need to examine a person further; there is no need for any person to go before him in judgment.
24 He breaks mighty men into pieces for their ways that need no further investigation; he puts others in their places.
25 In this way he has knowledge of their deeds; he overthrows these people in the night; they are destroyed.
26 In the open sight of others, he kills them for their wicked deeds like criminals
27 because they turned away from following him and refused to acknowledge any of his ways.
28 In this way, they made the cry of poor people come to him; he heard the cry of afflicted people.
29 When he stays silent, who can condemn him? If he hides his face, who can perceive him? He rules over nation and individual alike,
30 so that a godless man may not rule, so that there may be no one to entrap people.
31 Suppose someone says to God, 'I am certainly guilty, but I will not sin any longer;
32 teach me what I cannot see; I have committed sin, but I will do it no longer.'

18 He it is that saith to a king, Thou art apostate, either breaker of religion, when he keepeth not rightfulness and the common good; which calleth the dukes unpious, either unfaithful.
19 He accepteth not the persons of princes, neither he knoweth a tyrant to spare him, when he striveth against a poor man; for all men be the work of his hands.
20 They shall die suddenly, and at midnight peoples shall be troubled; and shall pass away, and shall take away a violent man without hand.
21 For the eyes of God be on the ways of men, and he beholdeth all the goings of them.
22 No darknesses be, neither no shadow of death is, that they, that work wickedness, be hid there;
23 for it is no more in the power of man, that he come to God into doom.
24 God shall all-break many men and unnumberable; and shall make other men to stand for them.
25 For he knoweth the works of them; and therefore he shall bring in night upon them, and they shall be all-broken.
26 He smote them, as unpious men, in the place of seeing men.
27 Which went away from him by casting afore or by forecasting, and would not understand all his ways.
28 That they should make the cry of a needy man to come to him, and that he should hear the voice of poor men.
29 For when he granteth peace, who is it that condemneth him? And since he hideth his cheer, who is that seeth him? And on folks, and on all men, he hath power to do such things.
30 Which maketh a man, hypocrite, to reign, for the sins of the people.

Job 34:18-34 in Wycliffe's Bible with Modern Spelling (Enhanced)

18 He it is that saith to a king, Thou art apostate, either (a) breaker of religion, when he keepeth not rightfulness and the common good; which calleth the dukes unpious, either unfaithful. (It is he who saith to a king, Thou art an apostate, that is, a breaker of religion, when he keepeth not righteousness and the common good; he who calleth the leaders unpious, or unfaithful.)
19 He accepteth not the persons of princes (or He favoureth not princes, or rulers), neither he knoweth a tyrant to spare him, when he striveth against a poor man; for all men be the work of his hands.
20 They shall die suddenly, and at midnight peoples shall be troubled; and shall pass, and shall take away a violent man without hand. (And then suddenly they shall die, yea, at midnight these people shall be troubled, and shall pass away; he shall take away a mighty man, without even raising a hand.)
21 For the eyes of God be on the ways of men, and he beholdeth all the goings of them.
22 No darknesses be, neither no shadow of death is, that they, that work wickedness, be hid there; (There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where they, who work wickedness, can be hid;)
23 for it is no more in the power of man, that he come to God into doom. (for it is not in the power of man, to set the time, when he come before God for judgement.)
24 God shall all-break many men and unnumberable (or God shall all-break innumerable powerful men); and shall make other men to stand for them.
25 For he knoweth the works of them; and therefore he shall bring in (the) night upon them, and they shall be all-broken.
26 He smote them, as unpious men, in the place of seeing men. (He striketh them, like unpious men, where all can see.)
27 Which went away from him by casting afore/by forecasting (or For they went away from him by intention, that is, willfully), and would not understand all his ways.
28 That they should make the cry of a needy man to come to him, and that he should hear the voice of poor men. (Yea, they who maketh the cry of the needy to come to him, so that he heareth the voice of the poor.)
29 For when he granteth peace, who is it that condemneth him? And since he hideth his cheer, who is (it) that seeth him? And on folks, and on all men, he hath power to do such things. (And if he granteth peace, who is it that condemneth him? But when he hideth his face, then who can find him? And he hath power to do such things over the nations, yea, over all people.)
30 Which maketh a man, hypocrite, to reign, for the sins of the people. (And he maketh a man, who is a hypocrite, to reign, for the sins of the people.)
31 Therefore for I have spoken to God, I shall not forbid thee to speak. (And so now I have spoken for God, and remember, I did not forbid thee to speak for him.)
32 If I have erred, teach thou me; if I have spoken wickedness, I shall no more add to (it).

Job 34:18-34 in Young's Literal Translation

18 Who hath said to a king — 'Worthless,' Unto princes — 'Wicked?'
19 That hath not accepted the person of princes, Nor hath known the rich before the poor, For a work of His hands are all of them.
20 In a moment they die, and at midnight Shake do people, and they pass away, And they remove the mighty without hand.
21 For His eyes are on the ways of each, And all his steps He doth see.
22 There is no darkness nor death-shade, For workers of iniquity to be hidden there;
23 For He doth not suffer man any more, To go unto God in judgment,
24 He breaketh the mighty — no searching! And He appointeth others in their stead.
25 Therefore He knoweth their works, And He hath overturned by night, And they are bruised.
26 As wicked He hath stricken them, In the place of beholders.
27 Because that against right They have turned aside from after Him, And none of His ways have considered wisely,
28 To cause to come in unto Him The cry of the poor, And the cry of the afflicted He heareth.
29 And He giveth rest, and who maketh wrong? And hideth the face, and who beholdeth it? And in reference to a nation and to a man, It is the same.
30 From the reigning of a profane man, From the snares of a people;
31 For unto God hath any said: 'I have taken away, I do not corruptly,
32 Besides that which I see, shew Thou me, If iniquity I have done — I do not add?'
33 By thee doth He recompense, That thou hast refused — That thou dost choose, and not I? And what thou hast known, speak.
34 Let men of heart say to me, And a wise man is hearkening to me.
