¹⁵ But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles and kings, and the children of Israel:

¹⁶ for I will show him how many things he must suffer for my name’s sake.

¹⁷ And Ananias departed, and entered into the house; and laying his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, who appeared unto thee in the way which thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mayest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Spirit.

¹⁸ And straightway there fell from his eyes as it were scales, and he received his sight; and he arose and was baptized;

¹⁹ and he took food and was strengthened. And he was certain days with the disciples that were at Damascus.

²⁰ And straightway in the synagogues he proclaimed Jesus, that he is the Son of God.

²¹ And all that heard him were amazed, and said, Is not this he that in Jerusalem made havoc of them that called on this name? and he had come hither for this intent, that he might bring them bound before the chief priests.

²² But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews that dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is the Christ.

²³ And when many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel together to kill him:

²⁴ but their plot became known to Saul. And they watched the gates also day and night that they might kill him:

²⁵ but his disciples took him by night, and let him down through the wall, lowering him in a basket.

²⁶ And when he was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disciples: and they were all afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple.

²⁷ But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how at Damascus he had preached boldly in the name of Jesus.

²⁸ And he was with them going in and going out at Jerusalem,

²⁹ preaching boldly in the name of the Lord: and he spake and disputed against the Grecian Jews; but they were seeking to kill him.

³⁰ And when the brethren knew it, they brought him down to Cæsarea, and sent him forth to Tarsus.

³¹ So the church throughout all Judæa and Galilee and Samaria had peace, being edified; and, walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, was multiplied.

³² And it came to pass, as Peter went throughout all parts, he came down also to the saints that dwelt at Lydda.

³³ And there he found a certain man named Aeneas, who had kept his bed eight years; for he was palsied.

³⁴ And Peter said unto him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ healeth thee: arise, and make thy bed. And straightway he arose.

³⁵ And all that dwelt at Lydda and in Sharon saw him, and they turned to the Lord.

³⁶ Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.

³⁷ And it came to pass in those days, that she fell sick, and died: and when they had washed her, they laid her in an upper chamber.

³⁸ And as Lydda was nigh unto Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men unto him, entreating him, Delay not to come on unto us.

³⁹ And Peter arose and went with them. And when he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and showing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.

⁴⁰ But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning to the body, he said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes; and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

¹⁹ And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus.

²⁰ And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.

²¹ But all that heard him were amazed, and said; Is not this he that destroyed them which called on this name in Jerusalem, and came hither for that intent, that he might bring them bound unto the chief priests?

²² But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ.

²³ And after that many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel to kill him:

²⁴ But their laying await was known of Saul. And they watched the gates day and night to kill him.

²⁵ Then the disciples took him by night, and let him down by the wall in a basket.

²⁶ And when Saul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disciples: but they were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple.

²⁷ But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.

²⁸ And he was with them coming in and going out at Jerusalem.

²⁹ And he spake boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus, and disputed against the Grecians: but they went about to slay him.

³⁰ Which when the brethren knew, they brought him down to Cæsarea, and sent him forth to Tarsus.

³¹ Then had the churches rest throughout all Judæa and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied.

³² And it came to pass, as Peter passed throughout all quarters, he came down also to the saints which dwelt at Lydda.

³³ And there he found a certain man named Æneas, which had kept his bed eight years, and was sick of the palsy.

³⁴ And Peter said unto him, Æneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately.

³⁵ And all that dwelt at Lydda and Saron saw him, and turned to the Lord.

³⁶ Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.

³⁷ And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber.

³⁸ And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them.

³⁹ Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.

⁴⁰ But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

¹⁵ But the Lord Jesus told Ananias, “Go to Saul! Do what I say, because I have chosen him to serve me in order that he might speak about me MTY both to non-Jewish people and their kings and to the Israeli people.

¹⁶ I myself will tell him that he must often suffer greatly because of telling people about me MTY.”

¹⁷ So Ananias went, and after he found the house where Saul was, he entered it. Then, as soon as he met Saul, he put his hands on him, and he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus himself commanded me to come to you. He is the same one who appeared to you (sg) while you were traveling along the road. He sent me to you in order that you might see again and that you might be completely controlled by the Holy Spirit {that the Holy Spirit might completely control you}.”

¹⁸ Instantly, things like fish scales fell from Saul's eyes, and he was able to see again. Then he stood up and was baptized { Ananias baptized him} immediately.

¹⁹ After Saul ate some food, he felt strong again. Saul stayed with the other believers in Damascus for several days.

²⁰ Right away Saul began to preach to people about Jesus in the Jewish meeting places in Damascus. He told them that Jesus is ◄the Son of/the man who is also► God.

²¹ And all the people who heard him preach were amazed. Various ones of them were saying, “◄ We(inc) can hardly believe that this is the same man who persecuted the believers in Jerusalem!/Is this really the same man who persecuted the believers in Jerusalem?► RHQ, MTY And we (inc) know that he has RHQ come here to seize us and take us to the chief priests in Jerusalem!”

²² But God enabled Saul to preach to many people even more convincingly. He was proving from the Scriptures that Jesus is the Messiah. So the Jewish leaders in Damascus could not think of anything ◄to refute what he said/to prove that what he said was not true►.

²³ Some time later, after Saul had left Damascus and then returned, the Jewish leaders SYN there plotted to kill him.

²⁴ During each day and night those Jews were continually watching the people passing through the city gates, in order that when they saw Saul they might kill him. However, someone told Saul what they planned to do.

²⁵ So some of those whom he had helped to believe in Jesus took him one night to the high stone wall that surrounded the city. They used ropes to lower him in a large basket through an opening in the wall. So he escaped from Damascus.

²⁶ When Saul arrived in Jerusalem, he began trying to associate with other believers. However, almost all of them continued to be afraid of him, because they did not believe that he had become a believer.

²⁷ But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles. He explained to the apostles how, while Saul was traveling along the road to Damascus, he had seen the Lord Jesus and how the Lord had spoken to him there. He also told them how Saul had preached boldly about Jesus MTY to people in Damascus. The apostles believed Barnabas and told the other believers about that.

²⁸ So Saul began to associate with the apostles and other believers throughout Jerusalem, and he spoke boldly to people about MTY the Lord Jesus.

²⁹ Saul was also speaking about Jesus with Jews who spoke Greek, and he was debating with them. But they were continually trying to think ◄ of a way to kill him/of how they could kill him►.

³⁰ When the other believers heard that those Jews were planning to kill him, some of the believers took Saul down to Caesarea city. There they arranged for him to go by ship to Tarsus, his hometown.

³¹ So the groups of believers throughout the entire regions of Judea, Galilee, and Samaria lived peacefully because no one was persecuting them anymore. The Holy Spirit was strengthening them spiritually and encouraging them. They were continuing to revere/honor the Lord Jesus, and the Holy Spirit was enabling many other people to become believers.

³² While Peter was traveling throughout those regions, once he went to the coastal plain to visit the believers who lived in Lydda town.

³³ There he met a man whose name was Aeneas. Aeneas had not been able to get up from his bed for eight years, because he was paralyzed.

³⁴ Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you (sg) right now! Get up and roll up your mat!” Right away Aeneas stood up.

³⁵ Most of the people who lived in Lydda and on Sharon Plain saw Aeneas after the Lord had healed him, so they believed in the Lord Jesus.

³⁶ In Joppa town there was a believer whose name was Tabitha. Her name in the Greek language was Dorcas. Both of these names mean gazelle/deer/antelope. That woman was continually doing good deeds for others. Specifically, she was helping poor people by giving them things that they needed.

³⁷ During the time that Peter was in Lydda, she became sick and died. Some women there washed her body according to the Jewish custom so that the people could bury it. Then they covered her body with cloth and placed it in an upstairs room in her house.

³⁸ Lydda was near Joppa, so when the believers heard that Peter was still in Lydda, they sent two men to go to Peter. When they arrived where Peter was, they repeatedly urged/begged him, “Please come immediately with us to Joppa!”

³⁹ So right away Peter got ready and went with them. When they arrived at the house in Joppa, the two men took Peter to the upstairs room where Dorcas' body was lying. All the widows therecrowded around Peter. They were crying and showing him the cloaks and other garments that Dorcas had made for people while she was still alive.

⁴⁰ But Peter sent them all out of the room. Then he got down on his knees and prayed. Then, turning toward Tabitha's body, he said, “Tabitha, stand up!” Immediately she opened her eyes and, when she saw Peter, she sat up.

¹⁷ And Ananias went out and came to the house, and putting his hands on him, said, Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, whom you saw when you were on your journey, has sent me, so that you may be able to see, and be full of the Holy Spirit.

¹⁸ And straight away it seemed as if a veil was taken from his eyes, and he was able to see; and he got up, and had baptism;

¹⁹ And when he had taken food his strength came back. And for some days he kept with the disciples who were in Damascus.

²⁰ And straight away, in the Synagogues, he was preaching Jesus as the Son of God.

²¹ And all those hearing him were full of wonder and said, Is not this the man who in Jerusalem was attacking all the worshippers of this name? and he had come here so that he might take them as prisoners before the chief priests.

²² But Saul went on increasing in power, and the Jews in Damascus were not able to give answers to the arguments by which he made it clear that Jesus was the Christ.

²³ Then, after some days, the Jews made an agreement together to put him to death:

²⁴ But Saul got knowledge of their design. And they kept watch day and night on the roads out of the town, so that they might put him to death:

²⁵ But his disciples took him by night and let him down from the wall in a basket.

²⁶ And when he came to Jerusalem, he made an attempt to be joined to the disciples, but they were all in fear of him, not taking him for a disciple.

²⁷ But Barnabas took him to the Apostles and gave them an account of how he had seen the Lord on the road, and had given hearing to his words, and how at Damascus he had been preaching in the name of Jesus without fear.

²⁸ And he was with them, going in and out at Jerusalem,

²⁹ Preaching in the name of the Lord without fear; and he had discussions with the Greek Jews; but they were working for his death.

³⁰ And when the brothers had knowledge of it, they took him to Caesarea and sent him to Tarsus.

³¹ And so the church through all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was made strong; and, living in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, was increased greatly.

³² And it came about that while Peter was going through all parts of the country he came to the saints who were living at Lydda.

³³ And there was a certain man there, named Aeneas, who for eight years had been in bed, without power of moving.

³⁴ And Peter said to him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ makes you well: get up and make your bed. And straight away he got up.

³⁵ And all those living in Lydda and Sharon saw him, and were turned to the Lord.

³⁶ Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, that is, Dorcas: this woman was given to good works and acts of mercy at all times.

³⁷ And it came about, in those days, that she got ill and came to her death: and when she had been washed, they put her in a room which was high up.

³⁸ And because Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, having knowledge that Peter was there, sent two men to him, requesting him to come to them straight away.

³⁹ And Peter went with them. And when he had come, they took him into the room: and all the widows were there, weeping and putting before him the coats and clothing which Dorcas had made while she was with them.

⁴⁰ But Peter made them all go outside, and went down on his knees in prayer; and turning to the body, he said, Tabitha, get up. And, opening her eyes, she saw Peter and got up.

¹⁵ And the Lord said to him, Go, for this man is an elect vessel to me, to bear my name before both nations and kings and the sons of Israel:

¹⁶ for I will shew to him how much he must suffer for my name.

¹⁷ And Ananias went and entered into the house; and laying his hands upon him he said, Saul, brother, the Lord has sent me, Jesus that appeared to thee in the way in which thou camest, that thou mightest see, and be filled with the Holy Spirit.

¹⁸ And straightway there fell from his eyes as it were scales, and he saw, and rising up was baptised;

¹⁹ and, having received food, got strength. And he was with the disciples who were in Damascus certain days.

²⁰ And straightway in the synagogues he preached Jesus that he is the Son of God.

²¹ And all who heard were astonished and said, Is not this he who destroyed in Jerusalem those who called on this name, and here was come for this purpose, that he might bring them bound to the chief priests?

²² But Saul increased the more in power, and confounded the Jews who dwelt in Damascus, proving that this is the Christ.

²³ Now when many days were fulfilled, the Jews consulted together to kill him.

²⁴ But their plot became known to Saul. And they watched also the gates both day and night, that they might kill him;

²⁵ but the disciples took him by night and let him down through the wall, lowering him in a basket.

²⁶ And having arrived at Jerusalem he essayed to join himself to the disciples, and all were afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple.

³³ And he found there a certain man, Aeneas by name, who had been lying for eight years upon a couch, who was paralysed.

³⁴ And Peter said to him, Aeneas, Jesus, the Christ, heals thee: rise up, and make thy couch for thyself. And straightway he rose up.

³⁵ And all who inhabited Lydda and the Saron saw him, who turned to the Lord.

³⁶ And in Joppa there was a certain female disciple, by name Tabitha, which being interpreted means Dorcas. She was full of good works and alms-deeds which she did.

³⁷ And it came to pass in those days that she grew sick and died; and, having washed her, they put her in the upper room.

³⁸ But Lydda being near to Joppa, the disciples having heard that Peter was there, sent two men to him, beseeching him, Thou must not delay coming to us.

³⁹ And Peter rising up went with them, whom, when arrived, they brought up into the upper chamber; and all the widows stood by him weeping and shewing him the body-coats and garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them.

⁴⁰ But Peter, putting them all out, and kneeling down, prayed. And, turning to the body, he said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes, and, seeing Peter, sat up.

²⁴ But their laying in wait was made known to Saul. And they watched the gates also day and night, that they might kill him.

²⁵ But the disciples taking him in the night, conveyed him away by the wall, letting him down in a basket.

²⁶ And when he was come into Jerusalem, he essayed to join himself to the disciples; and they all were afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple.

³⁴ And Peter said to him: Eneas, the Lord Jesus Christ healeth thee: arise, and make thy bed. And immediately he arose.

³⁵ And all that dwelt at Lydda and Saron, saw him: who were converted to the Lord.

³⁶ And in Joppe there was a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas. This woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.

³⁷ And it came to pass in those days that she was sick, and died. Whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber.

³⁸ And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppe, the disciples hearing that Peter was there, sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not be slack to come unto them.

³⁹ And Peter rising up, went with them. And when he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber. And all the widows stood about him weeping, and shewing him the coats and garments which Dorcas made them.

⁴⁰ And they all being put forth, Peter kneeling down prayed, and turning to the body, he said: Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes; and seeing Peter, she sat up.

²⁰ And immediately in the synagogues he was proclaiming Christ, that He is the Son of God.

²¹ And all those who heard were astounded, and were saying, “Is this not the one who destroyed those who called on this name in Jerusalem, and has come here for that purpose, so that he might bring them bound to the chief priests?”

²² But Saul all the more was growing strong, and was confounding the Jews who were dwelling in Damascus, proving that Jesus was the Christ.

²³ Now when many days had passed, the Jews plotted to kill him.

²⁴ But their plot became known to Saul. And they closely watched the city gates both day and night, in order that they might kill him.

³⁰ But the brothers, learning about it, brought him down to Caesarea and sent him off to Tarsus.

³¹ Then the churches throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and were edified, and walking in the fear of the Lord and in the encouragement of the Holy Spirit, they were multiplied.

³² Now it came to pass, as Peter went through all parts of the country, that he went down to the saints who were dwelling in Lydda.

³³ And he found there a certain man named Aeneas, who had been confined to a bed for eight years, who was paralyzed.

³⁴ And Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus the Christ heals you. Arise and make your bed.” Then he arose immediately.

³⁵ And all who were dwelling at Lydda and Sharon saw him, and they turned to the Lord.

³⁹ And arising, Peter went with them. When he arrived, they took him into the upper room, and all the widows stood beside him weeping, showing him tunics and cloaks which Dorcas was making, while she was with them.

⁴⁰ But Peter, having put them all outside, knelt down and prayed. And turning to the body he said, “Tabitha, arise.” And she opened her eyes, and seeing Peter, she sat up.

¹⁵ But the Lord said to him: “Get moving, because this man is a chosen vessel to me, to carry my name before nations and kings, also the children of Israel;

¹⁶ for I will show him how many things he must suffer for my name's sake.”

¹⁷ So Ananias went and entered the house, and placing his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord, who appeared to you on the road by which you came, has sent me so that you may recover your sight and be filled by Holy Spirit.”

¹⁸ Immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he recovered his sight forthwith; and getting up he was baptized,

¹⁹ and upon receiving food he was strengthened. So Saul was with the disciples in Damascus for a number of days.

²⁰ Immediately he started proclaiming Jesus in the synagogues, that He is the Son of the God.

²¹ Well, all who heard him were astounded and started saying: “Isn't this the one who tried to destroy, in Jerusalem, those who called on this name? Even here he had come with that purpose, that he might take them bound to the high priests.”

²² But Saul kept growing stronger and kept on confounding the Jews who lived in Damascus, proving that ‘This One is the Christ.’

²³ Now when a good many days had passed, the Jews plotted to kill him;

²⁴ but their plot became known to Saul. They started watching the gates day and night, so that they might kill him;

²⁵ so the disciples took him by night and passed him through the wall, lowering him in a hamper.

²⁶ Now upon arriving in Jerusalem Saul kept trying to join himself to the disciples; but they were all afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple.

²⁷ But Barnabas took him in tow and brought him to the apostles, and described to them how he had seen the Lord on the road, and that He had spoken to him, and how in Damascus he had spoken fearlessly in the name of the Lord Jesus.

²⁸ So he was with them in Jerusalem, going in and out, and speaking fearlessly in the name of Jesus.

²⁹ He kept on speaking and debating with the Hellenists, so they started trying to kill him.

³⁰ Upon finding it out, the brothers brought him down to Caesarea and sent him off to Tarsus.

³¹ So then the congregations throughout all Judea and Galilee, and Samaria, had peace and were built up; and proceeding in the fear of the Lord and in the enabling of the Holy Spirit they were being multiplied.

³² Now it happened, as Peter went through all those parts, that he also went down to the saints who were living in Lydda.

³³ And there he found a certain man named Aeneas who was paralyzed—he had been lying on a pallet for eight years.

³⁴ Peter said to him: “Aeneas, Jesus the Messiah is healing you. Get up and make your bed!” And immediately he stood up!

³⁵ All who were living in Lydda and Sharon saw him, and they turned to the Lord.

¹⁷ So Ananias left and went to the house. He placed his hands on Saul. “Brother Saul,” he said, “The Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were traveling here, has sent me so you can regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”

¹⁸ Immediately, something like scales fell from his eyes, and his sight was restored. He got up and was baptized.

¹⁹ He also had something to eat and felt stronger. Saul spent several days with the disciples in Damascus.

²⁰ He immediately started speaking in the synagogues, saying, “Jesus is the Son of God.”

²¹ All who heard him were amazed, and asked, “Isn't this the man who caused so much trouble in Jerusalem for those who believed in Jesus? Wasn't he coming here to have the believers arrested and taken in chains to the chief priests?”

²² Saul grew more and more confident, proving Jesus was the Messiah so convincingly that the Jews who lived in Damascus could not refute him.

²³ Some time later the Jews plotted together to kill him,

²⁴ but Saul learned of their intentions. Day and night they waited by the city gates looking for the chance to murder him.

²⁵ So during the night his followers took him and lowered him down in a basket from an opening in the city wall.

²⁶ When Saul arrived in Jerusalem, he tried to meet with the disciples, but they were all afraid of him because they were not convinced he was really a disciple.

²⁷ However, Barnabas took him to meet the apostles, and explained to them how Saul had seen the Lord on the road and how the Lord had spoken to Saul. Barnabas also explained how in Damascus Saul had spoken boldly in the name of Jesus.

²⁸ Saul stayed with the apostles and accompanied them all over Jerusalem,

²⁹ speaking boldly in the name of the Lord. He talked and debated with the Greek-speaking Jews, but they tried to kill him.

³⁰ When the brothers learned of this they took him to Caesarea, and sent him to Tarsus.

³¹ During this time the whole church throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria was left in peace. The church grew strong and increased rapidly in numbers as the believers lived reverently for the Lord, encouraged by the Holy Spirit.

³² Peter was traveling around and went to visit the believers who lived in Lydda.

³³ There he met a man called Aeneas who was paralyzed and had been confined to his bed for eight years.

³⁴ Peter told him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you! Get up and pick up your mat!” Immediately Aeneas got up.

³⁵ Everyone living in Lydda and Sharon saw him, and became believers in the Lord.

³⁶ In Joppa lived a follower called Tabitha, (Dorcas in Greek). She was always doing good and helping the poor.

³⁷ However, about this time she became sick, and died. After washing her body, they laid her out in an upstairs room.

³⁸ Lydda was near Joppa, so the disciples in Joppa, hearing that Peter was in Lydda, sent two men to him with the message, “Please come to us right away.”

³⁹ So Peter got ready and left with them. When he arrived they took him upstairs. All the widows were there crying, and they showed him the coats and clothes that Dorcas had made while she was with them.

⁴⁰ Peter told them all to leave, kneeled down, and prayed. He turned to the body and said, “Tabitha, get up.” She opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up.

¹⁵ Then the Lord said vnto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessell vnto me, to beare my Name before the Gentiles, and Kings, and the children of Israel.

¹⁶ For I will shewe him, howe many things he must suffer for my Names sake.

¹⁷ Then Ananias went his way, and entred into that house, and put his hands on him, and sayd, Brother Saul, the Lord hath sent me (euen Iesus that appeared vnto thee in the way as thou camest) that thou mightest receiue thy sight, and be filled with the holy Ghost.

¹⁸ And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had bene scales, and suddenly he receiued sight, and arose, and was baptized,

¹⁹ And receiued meate, and was strengthened. So was Saul certaine dayes with the disciples which were at Damascus.

²⁰ And straightway hee preached Christ in the Synagogues, that he was that Sonne of God,

²¹ So that all that heard him, were amased, and sayde, Is not this hee, that made hauocke of them which called on this Name in Hierusalem, and came hither for that intent, that hee should bring them bound vnto the hie Priests?

²² But Saul encreased the more in strength, and confounded the Iewes which dwelt at Damascus, confirming, that this was that Christ.

²³ And after that many dayes were fulfilled, the Iewes tooke counsell together, to kill him,

²⁴ But their laying awayte was knowen of Saul: nowe they watched the gates day and night, that they might kill him.

²⁵ Then the disciples tooke him by night, and put him through the wall, and let him downe by a rope in a basket.

²⁶ And when Saul was come to Hierusalem, he assayed to ioyne himselfe with the disciples: but they were all afrayd of him, and beleeued not that he was a disciple.

²⁷ But Barnabas tooke him, and brought him to the Apostles, and declared to them, howe hee had seene the Lord in the way, and that hee had spoken vnto him, and how he had spoken boldly at Damascus in the Name of Iesus.

²⁸ And hee was conuersant with them at Hierusalem,

²⁹ And spake boldly in the Name of the Lord Iesus, and spake and disputed against the Grecians: but they went about to slay him.

¹⁸ And immediately there fell off from his eyes as it were scales; and he received sight, and arose, and was baptized.

¹⁹ And having taken some food he was strengthened. And he was some days with the disciples in Damascus.

²⁰ And immediately he preached Jesus in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.

²¹ And all that heard him were amazed, and said, Is not this he that destroyed in Jerusalem those who called on this name? And he hath come hither for this purpose, that he may bring them bound to the chief priests.

²² But Saul gained still more strength, and confounded the Jews who dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is the Christ.

²³ But after many days had passed, the Jews took counsel together to kill him;

²⁴ but their plot became known to Saul; and they were even watching the gates day and night to kill him.

²⁵ But his disciples took him by night, and let him down through the wall, lowering him in a basket.

²⁶ And when he had come to Jerusalem, he attempted to join himself to the disciples; and they were all afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple.

²⁷ But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and related to them how he had seen the Lord on the road, and that he had spoken to him, and hew he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.

²⁸ And he was with them going in and out at Jerusalem,

²⁹ speaking boldly in the name of the Lord. And he often spoke and disputed with the Hellenists; but they were endeavoring to slay him.

³⁰ But the brethren obtaining knowledge of it, brought him down to Caesarea, and sent him forth to Tarsus.

³¹ The church therefore throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria had peace, being built up, and walking in the fear of the Lord; and by the exhortation of the Holy Spirit it was greatly increased.

³² And it came to pass, that as Peter went through the whole country, he came down also to the saints who dwelt at Lydda.

³³ And there he found a certain man named AEneas, who had lain on a bed eight years, and was palsied.

³⁴ And Peter said to him, AEneas, Jesus the Christ healeth thee; arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately.

³⁵ And all that dwelt in Lydda and Sharon saw him; and they turned to the Lord.

³⁶ Now at Joppa there was a certain disciple named Tabitha, which name being interpreted is the same as Dorcas, that is, Gazelle. This woman was full of good works and alms-deeds which she did.

³⁷ And it came to pass in those days, that she fell sick, and died; and when they had washed her, they laid her in an upper chamber.

³⁸ And as Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, having heard that Peter was there, sent to him two men with the entreaty, Do not delay to come to us.

³⁹ Then Peter arose, and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber; and all the widows came to him weeping, and showing the coats and cloaks which Dorcas made while she was with them.

⁴⁰ But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down and prayed; and turning to the body he said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes; and seeing Peter, she sat up.

¹⁶ I will myself show him all that he has to suffer for my name.”

¹⁷ So Ananias went, entered the house, and, placing his hands on Saul, said, “Saul, my brother, I have been sent by the Lord — by Jesus, who appeared to you on your way here — so that you may recover your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”

¹⁵ But Jesus said to Ananias, “Don’t worry. Go to him anyway. You see, I picked that man to be my special worker. He will tell a lot of people about me. He will tell Jewish people about me, and he will even tell those people that are not Jews about me. And he will tell the bosses of their countries about me too.

¹⁶ I will show him that some people will not like him talking about me, so they will give him big trouble and hurt him.”

¹⁷ So Ananias got up and went to that house that Judas lived in, and he went inside, and he put his hands on Saul, and he said, “Brother Saul. You saw Jesus on the road as you were coming here. Well, he has sent me so that you can see again, and the Holy Spirit will come into you and fill you.”

¹⁸ Then something like fish scales, or like finger nails, they fell down from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. He got up, and they baptised him.

¹⁹ Then he ate some food and he got strong again. Saul stayed in Damascus for a few days with the people that followed Jesus.

²⁰ Straight away he started talking to the Jews in their meeting places. He told them, “Jesus is God’s son.”

²¹ All the Jews that heard him were really shocked. They said, “Hey, this man has really changed. He’s the man that really hurt the people in Jerusalem that followed Jesus. And he came here to grab the people that follow Jesus here. He was going to tie them up with chains and take them back to the Jewish bosses in Jerusalem.”

²² But Saul told those people about Jesus, and he got better and better at talking to them. The Jews in Damascus argued with him, but he showed them that Jesus really is the man that God promised to send. Those Jews couldn’t show that he was wrong, and they got worried and upset.

²³ After that some Jews talked with each other about killing Saul. There was a big wall around that town with some gates in it. Every day and every night the Jews watched those gates. They thought they might see Saul going out of the town, and then they will catch him and kill him. But somebody told Saul about them.

²⁵ So the new Christians helped Saul get away. They got a big basket and they took Saul to that big wall in the night. They went up high to a hole in that wall. Then they tied ropes to the basket and put Saul in it, and lowered it down through that hole, down to the ground outside the wall. Then Saul got out of the basket and ran away.

²⁶ After that Saul went to Jerusalem and tried to join with the people there that followed Jesus. But they didn’t believe that he followed Jesus too. They were afraid of him, so they kept away from him. They didn’t let him join with them.

²⁷ But a Christian man called Barnabas listened to Saul and took him to the close followers of Jesus and told them Paul’s story. He said, “On the way to Damascus, Saul saw our leader, Jesus, and Jesus talked to him. After that Saul told the people in Damascus about Jesus. He wasn’t afraid of them.”

²⁸ Those church leaders in Jerusalem believed Barnabas, so Saul stayed there with them and let the Jerusalem people see him with them. He talked to everyone about Jesus and wasn’t afraid of anyone.

²⁹ There were some Jewish people in Jerusalem that talked the Greek language. Saul told them to believe in Jesus, but they argued with him. Then they got upset and tried to kill him.

³⁰ The Christians heard about this, so they took Saul to the town called Caesarea and put him on a ship, and sent him back to his home town, called Tarsus.

³¹ Then, at last, everything settled down and was quiet for the Christians in the churches in Judea, Galilee and Samaria countries. They respected their leader Jesus more, and they followed him more properly, and the Holy Spirit helped them feel strong, so that more people joined them and believed in Jesus.

³² After that, Peter went around visiting God’s people that lived in Judea country, and he went to the town called Lydda.

³³ He met a man there called Aeneas. About 8 years before that time Aeneas got crippled. He couldn’t move, so he just lay in bed for 8 years till Peter came along.

³⁴ Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ makes you better. Get up and roll up your mat.” Aeneas got better right then, and he stood up.

³⁵ All the people in Lydda saw him, and the other people in that flat country called Sharon, they all saw him too, and a lot of them changed their ways and believed in Jesus.

³⁶ There was a woman called Tabitha that lived in a town called Joppa. She was a follower of Jesus. (Her name in the Greek language was Dorcas.) She always did good things and helped poor people.

³⁷ But she got sick and died. The Christian people washed her body and put it in a room upstairs in her house.

³⁸ Joppa was near Lydda, and the people in Joppa that followed Jesus heard that Peter was in Lydda. So they sent 2 men to Lydda and they asked him, “Please come to Joppa with us right now.”

³⁹ So Peter went with those 2 men. After he got there the Christians took him to the house and then they all went upstairs. They stood there with Peter, and the widows cried and showed him the shirts and other clothes that Dorcas made for them while she was still alive.

⁴⁰ Peter told everyone to go outside. Then he got down on his knees, to show respect to God, and he prayed, then he turned and looked at the body, and said, “Tabitha, get up.” She opened her eyes, then she saw Peter and sat up.

²⁴ But their layinge awayte was knowen of Saul. And they watched at the gates daye and nyght to kyll him.

²⁵ Then the disciples toke him by night and put him thorow the wall and let him doune in a basket.

²⁶ And when Saul was come to Ierusalem he assayde to cople him silfe with the discyples and they were all afrayde of hym and beleued not that he was a disciple.

²⁷ But Bernabas toke hym and brought hym to the apostles and declared to the how he had sene the Lorde in the waye and had spoke wyth hym: and how he had done boldely at damasco in the name of Iesu.

²⁸ And he had his conuersacion with them at Ierusalem

²⁹ and quit hym silfe boldly in the name of the lorde Iesu. And he spake and disputed wyth the grekes: and they went aboute to slee hym.

³⁰ But when the brethren knew of that they brought hym to cesarea and sent hym forth to Tharsus.

³¹ Then had the congregacions rest thorowoute all Iewry and galile and Samary and were edified and walked in the feare of the lorde and multiplied by the comforte of the holy gost.

³² And it chaunsed that as Peter walked throughoute all quarters he came to the saynctes which dwelt at Lydda

³³ and there he foude a certayne man namyd Eneas whych had kepte hys bed viii. yere sicke of the palsie.

³⁴ Then sayde Peter vnto hym: Eneas Iesus Christ make the whole. Aryse and make thy beed. And he arose immedyatly.

³⁵ And all that dwelt at lydda and assaron sawe hym and tourned to the lorde.

³⁶ Ther was at Ioppe a certayne woman (whiche was a disciple named Tabitha which by interpretacion is called dorcas) the same was full of good workes and almes dedes which she did.

³⁷ And it chaunsed in those dayes that she was sicke and dyed. When they had wesshed her and layd her in a chamber:

²⁹ preaching boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus. He spoke and disputed against the Hellenists, but they were seeking to kill him.

³⁰ When the brothers knew it, they brought him down to Caesarea and sent him off to Tarsus.

³¹ So the assemblies throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and were built up. They were multiplied, walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit.

³² As Peter went throughout all those parts, he came down also to the saints who lived at Lydda.

³³ There he found a certain man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden for eight years because he was paralysed.

³⁴ Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you. Get up and make your bed!” Immediately he arose.

³⁵ All who lived at Lydda and in Sharon saw him, and they turned to the Lord.

³⁶ Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which when translated means Dorcas. This woman was full of good works and acts of mercy which she did.

³⁷ In those days, she became sick and died. When they had washed her, they laid her in an upper room.

³⁸ As Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men to him, imploring him not to delay in coming to them.

³⁹ Peter got up and went with them. When he had come, they brought him into the upper room. All the widows stood by him weeping, and showing the tunics and other garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them.

⁴⁰ Peter sent them all out, and knelt down and prayed. Turning to the body, he said, “Tabitha, get up!” She opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

¹⁷ And Ananias went, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him, said, Brother Saul, the Lord (even Jesus that appeared to thee in the way as thou camest) hath sent me, that thou mayest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Spirit.

¹⁸ And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.

¹⁹ And when he had received food, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples who were at Damascus.

²⁰ And immediately he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.

²¹ But all that heard him were amazed, and said, Is not this he that destroyed them who called on this name in Jerusalem, and came hither for that intent, that he might bring them bound to the chief priests?

²² But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews who dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ.

²³ And after many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel to kill him.

²⁴ But their laying in wait, was known to Saul. And they watched the gates day and night to kill him.

²⁵ Then the disciples took him by night, and let him down by the wall in a basket.

²⁶ And when Saul had come to Jerusalem, he essayed to join himself to the disciples: but they were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple.

²³ And when many days were ful filled, Jews made a counsel, that they should slay him.

²⁴ And the ambushes of them were made known to Saul. And they kept the gates day and night, that they should slay him.

²⁵ But his disciples took him by night, and delivered him, and let him down in a basket by the wall.

²⁶ And when he came into Jeru-salem, he assayed or attempted to join him to the disciples; and all dreaded him, and believed not that he was a disciple.

²¹ And all men that heard him, wondered, and said, Whether this is not he that impugned in Jerusalem them that called to help this name? and hither he came for this thing or and hither for this thing he came, that he should lead them bound (back) to the princes of (the) priests? (And everyone who heard him, wondered, and said, Is this not he who attacked those in Jerusalem who called on this name for help? and did he not come here for this purpose, that he would lead such believers bound and captive back to the high priests?)

²² But Saul much the more waxed strong or Forsooth Saul much more waxed strong, and confounded the Jews that dwelled at Damascus, and affirmed that this is Christ. (But Saul grew stronger, and confused the Jews who lived in Damascus, and affirmed that Jesus is the Messiah.)

²³ And when many days were ful filled, (the) Jews made a counsel, that they should slay him. (And after many days had passed, the Jews made a plan, that they would kill him.)

²⁴ And the ambushes of them were made known to Saul. And they kept (watch on) the gates day and night, that they should slay him (or so that they could kill him).

²⁵ But his disciples took him by night, and delivered him, and let him down in a basket by the wall.

²⁶ And when he came into Jerusalem, he assayed or he attempted to join him(self) to the disciples; and all dreaded him (or but everyone feared him), and believed not that he was a disciple.

(And the church in all of Judea, and Galilee, and Samaria, had peace, and was edified, and walked in fearful reverence of the Lord, and was filled with the strength of the Holy Spirit.)

⁴⁰ And when all men were put withoutforth (or And after everyone was sent out of the room), Peter kneeled, and prayed. And he turned to the body, and said, Tabitha, arise thou. And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

¹⁵ And the Lord said unto him, 'Be going on, because a choice vessel to Me is this one, to bear My name before nations and kings — the sons also of Israel;

¹⁶ for I will shew him how many things it behoveth him for My name to suffer.'

¹⁷ And Ananias went away, and did enter into the house, and having put upon him his hands, said, 'Saul, brother, the Lord hath sent me — Jesus who did appear to thee in the way in which thou wast coming — that thou mayest see again, and mayest be filled with the Holy Spirit.'

¹⁸ And immediately there fell from his eyes as it were scales, he saw again also presently, and having risen, was baptized,

¹⁹ and having received nourishment, was strengthened, and Saul was with the disciples in Damascus certain days,

²⁰ and immediately in the synagogues he was preaching the Christ, that he is the Son of God.

²¹ And all those hearing were amazed, and said, 'Is not this he who laid waist in Jerusalem those calling on this name, and hither to this intent had come, that he might bring them bound to the chief priests?'

²² And Saul was still more strengthened, and he was confounding the Jews dwelling in Damascus, proving that this is the Christ.

²³ And when many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel together to kill him,

²⁴ and their counsel against him was known to Saul; they were also watching the gates both day and night, that they may kill him,

²⁵ and the disciples having taken him, by night did let him down by the wall, letting down in a basket.

²⁶ And Saul, having come to Jerusalem, did try to join himself to the disciples, and they were all afraid of him, not believing that he is a disciple,

²⁷ and Barnabas having taken him, brought him unto the apostles, and did declare to them how in the way he saw the Lord, and that he spake to him, and how in Damascus he was speaking boldly in the name of Jesus.

²⁸ And he was with them, coming in and going out in Jerusalem,

²⁹ and speaking boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus, he was both speaking and disputing with the Hellenists, and they were taking in hand to kill him,

³⁷ and it came to pass in those days she, having ailed, died, and having bathed her, they laid her in an upper chamber,

³⁸ and Lydda being nigh to Joppa, the disciples having heard that Peter is in that place, sent two men unto him, calling on him not to delay to come through unto them.

³⁹ And Peter having risen, went with them, whom having come, they brought into the upper chamber, and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing coats and garments, as many as Dorcas was making while she was with them.

⁴⁰ And Peter having put them all forth without, having bowed the knees, did pray, and having turned unto the body said, 'Tabitha, arise;' and she opened her eyes, and having seen Peter, she sat up,
