1At that time Saul was still making trouble for Jesus’s followers. He was telling them, “I’m going to hurt you and kill you.” He went to the big boss of the Jewish ceremonies and asked him, “Will you write letters for me to take to the Jewish people in the town called Damascus? Tell them that you want me to grab anyone there that belongs to that mob called the Jesus Way. I will grab those men, and women too, and tie them up, and bring them back to Jerusalem for you to punish them.” So that big boss wrote a letter like that and gave it to Saul.
3Then Saul got some men and they went along the road to Damascus. As they got close to that town, suddenly a bright light from heaven shone down on Saul, and it shone all around him.
4He fell down on to the ground, and he heard a voice saying to him, “Saul. Saul. Why are you making trouble for me and hurting me?”
5Saul asked, “Who are you, Boss?” And that voice said, “I am Jesus. You are making trouble for me and hurting me.
