¹ But Saul, yet breathing threatening and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,

² and asked of him letters to Damascus unto the synagogues, that if he found any that were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.

³ And as he journeyed, it came to pass that he drew nigh unto Damascus: and suddenly there shone round about him a light out of heaven:

⁴ and he fell upon the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

⁵ And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest:

⁶ but rise, and enter into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.

⁷ And the men that journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing the voice, but beholding no man.

⁸ And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw nothing; and they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus.

⁹ And he was three days without sight, and did neither eat nor drink.

¹⁰ Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and the Lord said unto him in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord.

¹¹ And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go to the street which is called Straight, and inquire in the house of Judas for one named Saul, a man of Tarsus: for behold, he prayeth;

¹² and he hath seen a man named Ananias coming in, and laying his hands on him, that he might receive his sight.

¹³ But Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard from many of this man, how much evil he did to thy saints at Jerusalem:

¹⁴ and here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call upon thy name.

¹⁵ But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles and kings, and the children of Israel:

¹⁶ for I will show him how many things he must suffer for my name’s sake.

¹⁷ And Ananias departed, and entered into the house; and laying his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, who appeared unto thee in the way which thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mayest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Spirit.

¹⁸ And straightway there fell from his eyes as it were scales, and he received his sight; and he arose and was baptized;

¹⁹ and he took food and was strengthened. And he was certain days with the disciples that were at Damascus.

² And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.

³ And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:

⁴ And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

⁵ And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

⁶ And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.

⁷ And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.

⁸ And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw no man: but they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus.

⁹ And he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink.

¹⁰ And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord.

¹¹ And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth,

¹² And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight.

¹³ Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem:

¹⁴ And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name.

¹⁵ But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:

¹⁶ For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake.

¹⁷ And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.

¹⁸ And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.

¹⁹ And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus.

¹⁹ and he took food and was strengthened. And he was certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus.

¹ Meanwhile, Saul angrily continued to say, “I will kill those who believe that Jesus is the Lord!” He went to the supreme priest in Jerusalem

² and requested him to write letters introducing him to the leaders of MTY the Jewish meeting places in Damascus city. The letters asked them to authorize Saul to seize any men or women who followed the way that Jesus had taught, and to take them as prisoners to Jerusalem so that the Jewish leaders could judge and punish them.

³ Saul took those letters, and while he and those with him traveled toward Damascus, as they were approaching the city, suddenly a brilliant light from heaven shone around Saul.

⁴ Immediately he fell down to the ground. Then he heard the voice of the Lord say to him, “Saul, Saul, ◄stop causing me to suffer!/why are you causing me to suffer?► RHQ”

⁵ Saul asked him, “Lord, who are you?” He replied, “I am Jesus, and you (sg) are causing me to suffer by hurting my followers!

⁶ Now instead of continuing to do that, stand up and go into the city! Someone there will tell you (sg) what I want you to do.”

⁷ The men who were traveling with Saul became so frightened that they could not say anything. They just stood there. They only heard the sound when the Lord spoke, but they did not see anyone.

⁸ Saul got up from the ground, but when he opened his eyes he could not see anything. So the men with him took him by the hand and led him into Damascus.

⁹ For the next three days Saul could not see anything, and he did not eat or drink anything.

¹⁰ In Damascus there was a Jew named Ananias who believed in Jesus. While Ananias was seeing a vision, the Lord Jesus said to him, “Ananias!” He replied, “Lord, I am listening.”

¹¹ The Lord Jesus told him, “Go to Straight Street to the house that belongs to Judas. Ask someone there if you(sg) can talk to a man named Saul from Tarsus city, because, surprisingly, at this moment he is praying to me.

¹² Saul has seen a vision in which a man named Ananias entered the house where he was staying and put his hands on him in order that he might see again.”

¹³ But Ananias protested, saying, “But Lord, many people have told me about this man! He has done many evil things to the people in Jerusalem who believe in you!

¹⁴ And the chief priests have authorized him to come here to Damascus in order to seize all of us who believe in you (sg) MTY and take us to Jerusalem!”

¹⁵ But the Lord Jesus told Ananias, “Go to Saul! Do what I say, because I have chosen him to serve me in order that he might speak about me MTY both to non-Jewish people and their kings and to the Israeli people.

¹⁶ I myself will tell him that he must often suffer greatly because of telling people about me MTY.”

¹⁷ So Ananias went, and after he found the house where Saul was, he entered it. Then, as soon as he met Saul, he put his hands on him, and he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus himself commanded me to come to you. He is the same one who appeared to you (sg) while you were traveling along the road. He sent me to you in order that you might see again and that you might be completely controlled by the Holy Spirit {that the Holy Spirit might completely control you}.”

¹⁸ Instantly, things like fish scales fell from Saul's eyes, and he was able to see again. Then he stood up and was baptized { Ananias baptized him} immediately.

¹⁹ After Saul ate some food, he felt strong again. Saul stayed with the other believers in Damascus for several days.

¹ But Saul, still breathing threats and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest

² and asked for letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.

³ As he traveled, he got close to Damascus, and suddenly a light from the sky shone around him.

⁴ He fell on the earth, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”

⁵ He said, “Who are you, Lord?” The Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.

⁶ But rise up and enter into the city, then you will be told what you must do.”

⁷ The men who traveled with him stood speechless, hearing the sound, but seeing no one.

⁸ Saul arose from the ground, and when his eyes were opened, he saw no one. They led him by the hand and brought him into Damascus.

⁹ He was without sight for three days, and neither ate nor drank.

¹ But Saul, still burning with desire to put to death the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest,

² And made a request for letters from him to the Synagogues of Damascus, so that if there were any of the Way there, men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem.

³ And while he was journeying, he came near Damascus; and suddenly he saw a light from heaven shining round him;

⁴ And he went down on the earth, and a voice said to him, Saul, Saul, why are you attacking me so cruelly?

⁵ And he said, Who are you, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus, whom you are attacking:

⁶ But get up, and go into the town, and it will be made clear to you what you have to do.

⁷ And the men who were with him were not able to say anything; hearing the voice, but seeing no one.

⁸ And Saul got up from the earth, and when his eyes were open, he saw nothing; and he was guided by the hand into Damascus.

⁹ And for three days he was not able to see, and he took no food or drink.

¹⁰ Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and the Lord said to him in a vision, Ananias! and he said, Here I am, Lord.

¹¹ And the Lord said to him, Get up, and go to the street which is named Straight, and make search at the house of Judas for one named Saul of Tarsus: for he is at prayer;

¹² And he has seen a man named Ananias coming in and putting his hands on him, so that he may be able to see.

¹³ But Ananias said, Lord, I have had accounts of this man from a number of people, how much evil he has done to your saints at Jerusalem:

¹⁴ And here he has authority from the chief priests to make prisoners all who give worship to your name.

¹⁵ But the Lord said, Go without fear: for he is a special vessel for me, to give to the Gentiles and kings and to the children of Israel the knowledge of my name:

¹⁶ For I will make clear to him what troubles he will have to undergo for me.

¹⁷ And Ananias went out and came to the house, and putting his hands on him, said, Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, whom you saw when you were on your journey, has sent me, so that you may be able to see, and be full of the Holy Spirit.

¹⁸ And straight away it seemed as if a veil was taken from his eyes, and he was able to see; and he got up, and had baptism;

¹⁹ And when he had taken food his strength came back. And for some days he kept with the disciples who were in Damascus.

¹ But Saul, still breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, came to the high priest

¹⁰ And there was a certain disciple in Damascus by name Ananias. And the Lord said to him in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, here am I, Lord.

¹¹ And the Lord said to him, Rise up and go into the street which is called Straight, and seek in the house of Judas one by name Saul, he is of Tarsus: for, behold, he is praying,

¹² and has seen in a vision a man by name Ananias coming in and putting his hand on him, so that he should see.

¹³ And Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard from many concerning this man how much evil he has done to thy saints at Jerusalem;

¹⁴ and here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call upon thy name.

¹⁵ And the Lord said to him, Go, for this man is an elect vessel to me, to bear my name before both nations and kings and the sons of Israel:

¹⁶ for I will shew to him how much he must suffer for my name.

¹⁷ And Ananias went and entered into the house; and laying his hands upon him he said, Saul, brother, the Lord has sent me, Jesus that appeared to thee in the way in which thou camest, that thou mightest see, and be filled with the Holy Spirit.

¹⁸ And straightway there fell from his eyes as it were scales, and he saw, and rising up was baptised;

¹⁹ and, having received food, got strength. And he was with the disciples who were in Damascus certain days.

¹ And Saul, as yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest,

⁵ Who said: Who art thou, Lord? And he: I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. It is hard for thee to kick against the goad.

⁹ And he was there three days, without sight, and he did neither eat nor drink.

¹⁰ Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias. And the Lord said to him in a vision: Ananias. And he said: Behold I am here, Lord.

¹¹ And the Lord said to him: Arise, and go into the street that is called Stait, and seek in the house of Judas, one named Saul of Tarsus. For behold he prayeth.

¹² (And he saw a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hands upon him, that he might receive his sight.)

¹³ But Ananias answered: Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints in Jerusalem.

¹⁴ And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that invoke thy name.

¹⁵ And the Lord said to him: Go thy way; for this man is to me a vessel of election, to carry my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel.

¹⁶ For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake.

¹⁷ And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house. And laying his hands upon him, he said: Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus hath sent me, he that appeared to thee in the way as thou camest; that thou mayest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.

¹ Then Saul, still breathing murderous threats against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest

² and requested from him letters of authority to the synagogues of Damascus, that if he should find any who were of the Way, both men and women, he might bring them, having been bound, to Jerusalem.

³ And as he was going, it came about that he drew near to Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven.

⁴ And falling on the ground, he heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?”

⁵ And he said, “Who are You, Lord?” And the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.

⁶ “But rise up and enter into the city, and it will be spoken to you what you must do.”

⁷ And the men who were traveling with him stood speechless, hearing the voice but seeing no one.

⁸ And Saul got up from the ground, and although his eyes were open, he saw no one; and leading him by the hand, they brought him into Damascus.

⁹ And he was three days not seeing, and neither ate nor drank.

¹⁰ Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus named Ananias; and the Lord said to him in a vision, “Ananias.” And he said, “Behold I am here, Lord.”

¹¹ And the Lord said to him, “Arise and go to Straight Street, and seek out in the house of Judas a man named Saul, of Tarsus; for behold, he is praying.

¹² And he has seen in a vision a man named Ananias come in and lay his hands on him, so that he might see again.”

¹³ But Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how many wicked things he has done to Your saints in Jerusalem;

¹⁴ and here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who are calling on Your name.”

¹⁵ But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen vessel to Me to bear My name before Gentiles and kings, and the sons of Israel.

¹⁶ For I will show him all the things that he must suffer for My name's sake.”

¹⁷ And Ananias departed and entered the house; and putting his hands on him, he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord has sent me, the One who appeared to you in the way which you were coming, so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”

¹⁸ And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he could see again; and he got up and was baptized.

¹⁹ And when he had received food, he was strengthened. Now Saul was with the disciples in Damascus for several days.

¹ Meanwhile Saul, still exhaling murderous threats against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest

² and asked for letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he should find any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.

³ So it happened, as he was going, that he got close to Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven shone around him;

⁴ and falling to the ground he heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?”

⁵ So he said, “Who are you, Lord?” So the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting;

⁶ but get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

⁷ The men who were traveling with him stood speechless, hearing the sound but seeing no one.

⁸ Then Saul got up from the ground, and upon opening his eyes he saw no one; so leading him by the hand they brought him into Damascus.

⁹ He was without sight for three days, and neither ate nor drank.

¹⁰ Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus named Ananias, and the Lord said to him in a vision, “Ananias!” So he said, “Here I am, Lord.”

¹¹ So the Lord said to him: “Get up and go to the street called Straight, and at the house of Judas inquire by name for Saul of Tarsus; because, you see, he is praying,

¹² and in a vision he has seen a man named Ananias coming in and placing a hand on him, so that he might recover his sight.”

¹³ But Ananias answered: “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how many evil things he has done to Your saints in Jerusalem.

¹⁴ Moreover here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who are calling on Your name.”

¹⁵ But the Lord said to him: “Get moving, because this man is a chosen vessel to me, to carry my name before nations and kings, also the children of Israel;

¹⁶ for I will show him how many things he must suffer for my name's sake.”

¹⁷ So Ananias went and entered the house, and placing his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord, who appeared to you on the road by which you came, has sent me so that you may recover your sight and be filled by Holy Spirit.”

¹⁸ Immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he recovered his sight forthwith; and getting up he was baptized,

¹⁹ and upon receiving food he was strengthened. So Saul was with the disciples in Damascus for a number of days.

¹ But meanwhile Saul was making violent threats against the disciples of the Lord, wanting to kill them. He went to the high priest

² and asked for letters of authorization to take with him to the synagogues in Damascus, giving him permission to arrest any believers in the Way that he found, men or women, and bring them back to Jerusalem as prisoners.

³ As Saul approached Damascus, suddenly he was surrounded by a light that blazed down from heaven.

⁴ He fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?”

⁵ “Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked. “I am Jesus, the one you're persecuting,” he replied.

⁶ “Get up, go on into the city, and you'll be told what to do.”

⁷ The men who were traveling with Saul stood there speechless. They heard the voice speaking, but they didn't see anyone.

⁸ Saul got to his feet, and when he opened his eyes, he couldn't see anything. His companions took him by the hand and led him into Damascus.

⁹ For three days he couldn't see, and he didn't eat or drink anything.

¹⁰ A follower of Jesus called Ananias lived in Damascus, and the Lord spoke to him in a vision. “Ananias!” he called. “I'm here, Lord,” Ananias responded.

¹¹ “Get up, and go to Straight Street,” the Lord told him. “Ask at Judas' house for someone called Saul, from Tarsus. He's praying.

¹² He's seen in vision a man called Ananias come and place his hands on him so he can regain his sight.”

¹³ “But Lord,” Ananias replied, “I've heard a lot about this man—about all the evil things he did to the believers in Jerusalem.

¹⁴ The chief priests have given him the power to arrest everyone here that worships and follows you.”

¹⁵ But the Lord told him, “Get on your way, because he is the person I have chosen to take my name to foreigners and kings, as well as to Israel.

¹⁶ I will show him what he'll have to suffer for my name's sake.”

¹⁷ So Ananias left and went to the house. He placed his hands on Saul. “Brother Saul,” he said, “The Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were traveling here, has sent me so you can regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”

¹⁸ Immediately, something like scales fell from his eyes, and his sight was restored. He got up and was baptized.

¹⁹ He also had something to eat and felt stronger. Saul spent several days with the disciples in Damascus.

¹ And Saul yet breathing out threatnings and slaughter against the disciples of ye Lord, went vnto the hie Priest,

² And desired of him letters to Damascus to the Synagogues, that if he found any that were of that way (either men or women) hee might bring them bound vnto Hierusalem.

³ Now as he iourneyed, it came to passe that as he was come neere to Damascus, suddenly there shined rounde about him a light from heauen.

⁴ And hee fell to the earth, and heard a voyce, saying to him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

⁵ And he sayd, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord sayd, I am Iesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kicke against pricks.

⁶ He then both trembling and astonied, sayd, Lord, what wilt thou that I doe? And the Lord sayd vnto him, Arise and goe into the citie, and it shall be tolde thee what thou shalt doe.

⁴ He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him — “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?”

⁵ “Who are you, Lord?” he asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” the voice answered;

⁶ “Yet stand up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

He was telling them, “I’m going to hurt you and kill you.” He went to the big boss of the Jewish ceremonies and asked him, “Will you write letters for me to take to the Jewish people in the town called Damascus? Tell them that you want me to grab anyone there that belongs to that mob called the Jesus Way. I will grab those men, and women too, and tie them up, and bring them back to Jerusalem for you to punish them.” So that big boss wrote a letter like that and gave it to Saul.

³ Then Saul got some men and they went along the road to Damascus. As they got close to that town, suddenly a bright light from heaven shone down on Saul, and it shone all around him.

⁴ He fell down on to the ground, and he heard a voice saying to him, “Saul. Saul. Why are you making trouble for me and hurting me?”

⁵ Saul asked, “Who are you, Boss?” And that voice said, “I am Jesus. You are making trouble for me and hurting me.

⁶ But get up and go into the town. Somebody there will tell you what to do.”

⁷ The men that were with Saul stood there. They heard that voice, but they couldn’t see anyone. They were so shocked they couldn’t say anything.

⁸ Saul got up from the ground and opened his eyes, but he couldn’t see. He was blind. So the men held his hand and took him into Damascus.

⁹ He was blind for 3 days, and he didn’t eat anything or drink anything.

¹⁰ There was a man called Ananias that lived in Damascus. He believed in Jesus. While Ananias was awake he had like a dream. He heard Jesus say to him, “Ananias.” And Ananias, said, “Yes, Jesus, I’m here.”

¹¹ And Jesus said to him, “I want you to get up and go to Straight Street, to the house that Judas lives in, and find a man there from the town called Tarsus. His name is Saul, and he is praying to me right now.

¹² He had like a dream, and he saw you, and he heard your name Ananias, and he saw you come and put your hands on him, to make him see again.”

¹³ But Ananias said, “What? Hey, Jesus, people have told me about that man called Saul. He’s a properly cheeky man. He hurt your people in Jerusalem and did a lot of bad things to them.

¹⁴ And the leaders of the Jewish ceremonies told him he can grab all the people here that believe in you, and take them to jail. He came here now to do just that.”

¹⁵ But Jesus said to Ananias, “Don’t worry. Go to him anyway. You see, I picked that man to be my special worker. He will tell a lot of people about me. He will tell Jewish people about me, and he will even tell those people that are not Jews about me. And he will tell the bosses of their countries about me too.

¹⁶ I will show him that some people will not like him talking about me, so they will give him big trouble and hurt him.”

¹⁷ So Ananias got up and went to that house that Judas lived in, and he went inside, and he put his hands on Saul, and he said, “Brother Saul. You saw Jesus on the road as you were coming here. Well, he has sent me so that you can see again, and the Holy Spirit will come into you and fill you.”

¹⁸ Then something like fish scales, or like finger nails, they fell down from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. He got up, and they baptised him.

¹⁹ Then he ate some food and he got strong again. Saul stayed in Damascus for a few days with the people that followed Jesus.

¹ And Saul yet brethynge oute threatnynges and slaughter agaynst the disciples of the lorde went vnto the hye preste

² and desyred of him letters to Damasco to the synagoges: that yf he founde eny of this waye whether they were men or wemen he myght bringe them bounde vnto Ierusalem.

³ But as he went on his iorney it fortuned that he drue nye to Damasco and sodenly ther shyned rounde about him a lyght from heven.

⁴ And he fell to the erth and hearde a voyce sayinge to him: Saul Saul why persecutest thou me?

⁵ And he sayde what arte thou lorde? And the lorde sayd I am Iesus whom thou persecutest it shalbe harde for the to kycke agaynst the pricke.

⁶ And he bothe tremblynge and astonyed sayde: Lorde what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lorde sayde vnto him: aryse and goo into the cite and it shalbe tolde the what thou shalt do.

¹¹ And the lorde sayde to him: aryse and goo into the strete which is called strayght and seke in the housse of Iudas after one called Saul of Tharsus. For beholde he prayeth

¹³ Then Ananias answered: Lorde I have hearde by many of this man how moche evell he hath done to thy sainctes at Ierusalem

¹⁴ and here he hath auctorite of the hye prestes to bynde all that call on thy name.

¹⁵ The lorde sayde vnto him: Goo thy wayes: for he is a chosen vessell vnto me to beare my name before the gentyls and kynges and the chyldren of Israel.

¹⁶ For I will shewe him how great thinges he must suffre for my names sake.

¹⁷ Ananias went his waye and entryd into the housse and put his hondes on him and sayde: brother Saul the lorde that apperyd vnto the in the waye as thou camst hath sent me that thou myghtest receave thy syght and be filled with the holy goost.

⁴ He fell on the earth, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”

⁵ He said, “Who are you, Lord?” The Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.

⁶ But rise up and enter into the city, then you will be told what you must do.”

⁷ The men who travelled with him stood speechless, hearing the sound, but seeing no one.

⁸ Saul arose from the ground, and when his eyes were opened, he saw no one. They led him by the hand and brought him into Damascus.

⁹ He was without sight for three days, and neither ate nor drank.

¹⁰ Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus named Ananias. The Lord said to him in a vision, “Ananias!” He said, “Behold, it’s me, Lord.”

¹¹ The Lord said to him, “Arise and go to the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judah for one named Saul, a man of Tarsus. For behold, he is praying,

¹² and in a vision he has seen a man named Ananias coming in and laying his hands on him, that he might receive his sight.”

¹³ But Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much evil he did to your saints at Jerusalem.

¹⁴ Here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on your name.”

¹⁵ But the Lord said to him, “Go your way, for he is my chosen vessel to bear my name before the nations and kings, and the children of Israel.

¹⁶ For I will show him how many things he must suffer for my name’s sake.”

¹⁷ Ananias departed and entered into the house. Laying his hands on him, he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord, who appeared to you on the road by which you came, has sent me that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”

¹⁸ Immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he received his sight. He arose and was baptised.

¹⁹ He took food and was strengthened. Saul stayed several days with the disciples who were at Damascus.

¹ And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest,

² And desired from him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he should find any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.

³ And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined around him a light from heaven:

⁵ And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. It is hard for thee to kick against the goads.

⁶ And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said to him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.

⁷ And the men who journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.

⁸ And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw no man: but they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus.

⁹ And he was three days without sight, and neither ate nor drank.

¹⁰ And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here , Lord.

¹¹ And the Lord said to him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and inquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul of Tarsus: for behold, he prayeth,

¹² And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias, coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight.

¹³ Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem:

¹⁴ And here he hath authority from the chief priests, to bind all that call on thy name.

¹⁵ But the Lord said to him, Go, for he is a chosen vessel to me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel.

¹⁶ For I will show him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.

¹⁷ And Ananias went, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him, said, Brother Saul, the Lord (even Jesus that appeared to thee in the way as thou camest) hath sent me, that thou mayest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Spirit.

¹⁸ And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.

¹⁹ And when he had received food, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples who were at Damascus.

¹ But Saul, still breathing threats and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest

² and asked for letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.

³ As he traveled, he got close to Damascus, and suddenly a light from the sky shone around him.

² and asked of him letters into Damascus, to the synagogues; that if he found any men or women of this life, he should lead them bound to Jerusalem.

³ And when he made his journey, it befelled, that he came nigh to Damascus. And suddenly a light from heaven shone about him;

⁴ and he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying to him, Saul, Saul, what persecutest or pursuest thou me?

⁵ And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest or pursuest. It is hard to thee, to kick against the prick.

⁶ And he trembled, and wondered, and said, Lord, what wilt thou that I do? And the Lord said to him, Rise up, and enter into the city, and it shall be said to thee, what it behooveth thee to do.

⁷ And those men that went with him, stood astonied, or were made afeared, or out of mind; for they heard a voice, but they saw no man.

⁸ And Saul rose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw nothing. And they drew him by the hands, and led him into Damascus.

⁹ And he was three days not seeing; and he ate not, neither drank.

¹⁰ And a disciple, Ananias by name, was at Damascus. And the Lord said to him in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Lo! I, Lord.

¹¹ And the Lord said to him, Rise thou, and go into a street that is called Rectus; and seek, in the house of Judas, Saul by name, of Tarsus. For lo! he prayeth;

¹² and he saw a man, Ananias by name, entering and laying on him hands, that he receive sight.

¹³ And Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard of many of this man, how great evil he did to thy saints in Jerusalem;

¹⁴ and this hath power of the princes of priests, to bind all men that call thy name to help.

¹⁵ And the Lord said to him, Go thou, for this is to me a vessel of choosing, that he bear my name before heathen men, and kings, and before the sons of Israel.

¹⁶ For I shall show to him, how great things it behooveth him to suffer for my name.

¹⁷ And Ananias went, and entered into the house; and laid on him his hands, and said, Saul brother, the Lord Jesus sent me, that appeared to thee in the way, in which thou camest, that thou see, and be full-filled with the Holy Ghost.

¹⁸ And anon as the scales felled from his eyes, he received sight. And he rose, and was baptized.

¹⁹ And when he had taken meat, he was comforted. And he was by some days with the disciples, that were at Damascus.

¹ But Saul, yet a blower or a breather of menaces, and of beatings, or slaying(s), against the disciples of the Lord, came to the prince of (the) priests, (But Saul, still a breather of threats, and killings, against the disciples of the Lord, came to the High Priest,)

² and asked of (or from) him letters into Damascus, to the synagogues; that if he found any men or women of this life, he should lead them bound (back) to Jerusalem.

³ And when he made his journey, it befelled, that he came nigh to Damascus. And suddenly a light from heaven shone about him;

⁴ and he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying to him, Saul, Saul, what pursuest thou me? (or Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?)

⁵ And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou pursuest. It is hard to thee, to kick against the prick. (And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest. It is hard for thee, to kick against the prod.)

¹⁴ and this hath power of the princes of (the) priests, to bind all men that call thy name to help. (and he hath received authority from the high priests, to bind up, or to take captive, all who call on thy name for help.)

¹⁵ And the Lord said to him, Go thou, for this is to me a vessel of choosing, that he bear my name before heathen men, and kings, and before the sons of Israel. (And the Lord said to him, Go, for he is a vessel that I have chosen, to bring my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and before the Israelites.)

¹⁷ And Ananias went, and entered into the house; and laid on him his hands, and said, Saul brother, the Lord Jesus sent me, that appeared to thee in the way, in which thou camest, that thou see, and be full-filled with the Holy Ghost, (or Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus sent me, who appeared to thee on the way, in which thou camest, so that thou may see again, and be filled with the Holy Spirit).

¹⁸ And anon as the scales felled from his eyes (or And at once as the scales fell from his eyes), he received (his) sight (again). And he (a)rose, and was baptized.

¹⁹ And when he had taken meat, he was comforted, (or And when he had eaten some food, he was strengthened). And he was by some days with the disciples, that were at (or in) Damascus.

¹ And Saul, yet breathing of threatening and slaughter to the disciples of the Lord, having gone to the chief priest,

² did ask from him letters to Damascus, unto the synagogues, that if he may find any being of the way, both men and women, he may bring them bound to Jerusalem.

³ And in the going, he came nigh to Damascus, and suddenly there shone round about him a light from the heaven,

⁴ and having fallen upon the earth, he heard a voice saying to him, 'Saul, Saul, why me dost thou persecute?'

⁵ And he said, 'Who art thou, Lord?' and the Lord said, 'I am Jesus whom thou dost persecute; hard for thee at the pricks to kick;'

⁶ trembling also, and astonished, he said, 'Lord, what dost thou wish me to do?' and the Lord said unto him, 'Arise, and enter into the city, and it shall be told thee what it behoveth thee to do.'

⁷ And the men who are journeying with him stood speechless, hearing indeed the voice but seeing no one,

⁸ and Saul arose from the earth, and his eyes having been opened, he beheld no one, and leading him by the hand they brought him to Damascus,

⁹ and he was three days without seeing, and he did neither eat nor drink.

¹⁰ And there was a certain disciple in Damascus, by name Ananias, and the Lord said unto him in a vision, 'Ananias;' and he said, 'Behold me, Lord;'

¹¹ and the Lord saith unto him, 'Having risen, go on unto the street that is called Straight, and seek in the house of Judas, one by name Saul of Tarsus, for, lo, he doth pray,

¹² and he saw in a vision a man, by name Ananias, coming in, and putting a hand on him, that he may see again.'

¹³ And Ananias answered, 'Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how many evils he did to Thy saints in Jerusalem,

¹⁴ and here he hath authority from the chief priests, to bind all those calling on Thy name.'

¹⁵ And the Lord said unto him, 'Be going on, because a choice vessel to Me is this one, to bear My name before nations and kings — the sons also of Israel;

¹⁶ for I will shew him how many things it behoveth him for My name to suffer.'

¹⁷ And Ananias went away, and did enter into the house, and having put upon him his hands, said, 'Saul, brother, the Lord hath sent me — Jesus who did appear to thee in the way in which thou wast coming — that thou mayest see again, and mayest be filled with the Holy Spirit.'

¹⁸ And immediately there fell from his eyes as it were scales, he saw again also presently, and having risen, was baptized,

¹⁹ and having received nourishment, was strengthened, and Saul was with the disciples in Damascus certain days,
