Acts 8:32-34 in English

³² Now the passage of the scripture which he was reading was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; And as a lamb before his shearer is dumb, So he openeth not his mouth:

³³ In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: His generation who shall declare? For his life is taken from the earth.

³⁴ And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other?

³² The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:

³³ In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.

³⁴ And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?

³² The part of the Scriptures that the official was reading was this: He will be silent when they lead him away to kill him like when a sheep is led away to be killed. As a young sheep is silent when its wool is being cut off {someone cuts off its wool}, similarly he will not protest MTY when people cause him to suffer.

³³ When he will be humiliated by being accused falsely {people will humiliate him by accusing him falsely}, the rulers ◄will not consider him innocent/will consider him guilty►. No one will possibly be able to tell about his descendants, because he will be killed {people will kill him} without him having any descendants on the earth.

³⁴ The official asked Philip about these words that he was reading, “Tell me, who was the prophet writing about? Was he writing about himself or about someone else?”

³³ Being of low degree, his cause was not given a hearing: who has knowledge of his family? for his life is cut off from the earth.

³⁴ And the Ethiopian said to Philip, About whom are these words said by the prophet? about himself, or some other?

³³ In his humiliation his judgment has been taken away, and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.

³⁴ And the eunuch answering Philip said, I pray thee, concerning whom does the prophet say this? of himself or of some other?

³² And the place of the scripture which he was reading was this: He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb without voice before his shearer, so openeth he not his mouth.

³³ In humility his judgment was taken away. His generation who shall declare, for his life shall be taken from the earth?

³⁴ And the eunuch answering Philip, said: I beseech thee, of whom doth the prophet speak this? of himself, or of some other man?

³² Now the portion of the Scripture which he was reading was this: “He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and as a lamb before its shearer is silent, so He opened not His mouth.

³³ In His humiliation His justice was taken away, and who will recount His generation? For His life is taken away from the earth.”

³⁴ So the eunuch answered Philip and said, “Please tell me, of whom does the prophet say this; of himself, or of someone else?”

³² Now the portion of the Scripture that he was reading was this: “He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and as a lamb before its shearer is silent, so He does not open His mouth.

³³ In His humiliation His justice was removed, and who will recount His generation? Because His life is removed from the earth.”

³⁴ So continuing the eunuch said to Philip, “I ask you, about whom does the prophet say this, about himself or about someone else?”

³² The Scripture passage he was reading was this: “He was led like a sheep to be slaughtered. Like a lamb is silent in front of his shearer, he didn't say a word.

³³ He was humiliated and denied justice. No one can speak of his descendants, for his life came to an end.”

³⁴ The eunuch asked Philip, “Tell me, who is the prophet talking about? Is it himself, or someone else?”

³² Nowe the place of the Scripture which he read, was this, Hee was lead as a sheepe to the slaughter: and like a lambe domme before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth.

³³ In his humilitie his iudgement hath bene exalted: but who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.

³⁴ Then the Eunuche answered Philippe, and saide, I pray thee of whome speaketh the Prophet this? of himselfe, or of some other man?

³³ He was humiliated and justice was denied him. Who will tell the story of his generation? For his life is cut off from earth.’

³⁴ “Now,” said the Treasurer, addressing Philip, “tell me, of whom is the prophet speaking? Of himself, or of someone else?”

³² The passage of scripture which he was reading was this — ‘Like a sheep, he was led away to slaughter, and as a lamb is dumb in the hands of its shearer, so he refrains from opening his lips.

³³ He was humiliated and justice was denied him. Who will tell the story of his generation? For his life is cut off from earth.’

³⁴ “Now,” said the Treasurer, addressing Philip, “tell me, of whom is the prophet speaking? Of himself, or of someone else?”

³² He was reading this part of God’s book, “Some people led him away to kill him, just like men lead a sheep away to kill it, but he was quiet and didn’t say anything. You know the way a sheep is quiet and doesn’t make a noise while men cut off all its wool, well, he was quiet, just like that.

³³ Men shamed him, and they didn’t give him a proper trial in court. Then they killed him, so he can’t have any kids.”

³⁴ And the Ethiopian man said to Philip, “Who was Isaiah talking about? Was he talking about himself or somebody else?”

³² The tenoure of the scripture which he redde was this. He was ledde as a shepe to be slayne: and lyke a lambe dome before his sherer so opened he not his mouth.

³³ Because of his humblenes he was not estemed: who shall declare his generacion? for his lyfe is taken from the erthe.

³⁴ The chamberlayne answered Philip and sayde: I praye the of whom speaketh the Prophet this? of him selfe or of some other man?

³² Now the passage of the scripture which the Ethiopian was reading was this, “He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and like a lamb before his shearer is silent, so he did not open his mouth.

³³ In his humiliation justice was taken away from him. Who can fully describe his descendants? For his life was taken from the earth.”

³⁴ So the eunuch asked Philip, and said, “I beg you, who is the prophet speaking about, himself, or someone else?”

³³ In meekness his doom was taken up; who shall tell out the generation(s) of him? For his life shall be taken away from the earth. (He was humbled, or He was humiliated, and was denied justice; now who can tell out about his descendants? For his life was taken away from the earth.)

³⁴ And the gelding answered to Philip, and said (or And the eunuch said to Philip), I beseech thee, of what prophet saith he this thing? of himself, or of any other?

³² And the contents of the Writing that he was reading was this: 'As a sheep unto slaughter he was led, and as a lamb before his shearer dumb, so he doth not open his mouth;

³³ in his humiliation his judgment was taken away, and his generation — who shall declare? because taken from the earth is his life.'

³⁴ And the eunuch answering Philip said, 'I pray thee, about whom doth the prophet say this? about himself, or about some other one?'
