²⁹ But Peter and the apostles answered and said, We must obey God rather than men.

³⁰ The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew, hanging him on a tree.

³¹ Him did God exalt with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, to give repentance to Israel, and remission of sins.

³² And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

³³ But they, when they heard this, were cut to the heart, and were minded to slay them.

³⁴ But there stood up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in honor of all the people, and commanded to put the men forth a little while.

²⁹ Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

³⁰ The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.

³¹ Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

³⁴ Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space;

³⁴ But there stood up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in honour of all the people, and commanded to put the men forth a little while.

²⁹ But Peter, speaking for himself and the other apostles, replied, “We (exc) have to obey what God commands us to do, not what you people tell us to do!

³⁰ God considers that you are the ones who killed Jesus by nailing him to a cross! But God, whom our ancestors worshipped, ◄caused Jesus to become alive again after he died/raised Jesus from the dead►.

³¹ God has greatly honored Jesus. He has taken him up to heaven! He has authorized him to be the one who will save us and to rule over our lives! God did this so that he might enable us Israelites MTY to turn away from our sinful behavior and that he might forgive us for our sins.

³² We (exc) tell people about these things that we know happened to Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, whom God has sent to us who obey him, is also confirming that these things are true.”

³³ When the Council members heard those words, they became very angry with the apostles, and they wanted to kill them.

³⁴ But there was a Council member named Gamaliel. He was a Pharisee, and one who taught people the Jewish laws, and all the Jewish people respected him. He stood up in the Council and told guards to take the apostles out of the room for a short time.

²⁹ But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men.

³⁰ The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you killed, hanging him on a tree.

³¹ God exalted him with his right hand to be a Prince and a Savior, to give repentance to Israel, and remission of sins.

³² We are his witnesses of these things; and so also is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.”

²⁹ But Peter and the Apostles, answering, said, We have to do the orders of God, not of man.

³⁰ The God of our fathers gave Jesus back to life, whom you had put to death, hanging him on a tree.

³¹ Him God has put on high at his right hand, as a Ruler and a Saviour, to give to Israel a change of heart and forgiveness of sins.

³² And we are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who keep his laws.

³³ But when these words came to their ears, they were cut to the heart, and had a mind to put them to death.

³⁴ But one of the Sanhedrin, a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a man of learning in the law, of whom all the people had a high opinion, got up and made a suggestion for the men to be put outside for a little time.

²⁹ But Peter answering, and the apostles, said, God must be obeyed rather than men.

³⁰ The God of our fathers has raised up Jesus, whom ye have slain, having hanged on a cross.

³¹ Him has God exalted by his right hand as leader and saviour, to give repentance to Israel and remission of sins.

³² And we are his witnesses of these things, and the Holy Spirit also, which God has given to those that obey him.

³³ But they, when they heard these things, were cut to the heart, and took counsel to kill them.

³⁴ But a certain man, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law, held in honour of all the people, rose up in the council, and commanded to put the men out for a short while,

³³ When they had heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they thought to put them to death.

³⁴ But one in the council rising up, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, respected by all the people, commanded the men to be put forth a little while.

³³ But when they heard this, they were infuriated and were resolving to kill them.

³⁴ Then someone in the council stood up, a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law held in honor by all the people, and commanded them to put the apostles outside for a short time.

²⁹ So in answer Peter and the Apostles said: “One must obey God rather than men.

³⁰ The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you murdered by hanging on a tree.

³¹ Him God has exalted to His right hand as Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

³² And we are witnesses to these statements about Him, as also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those obeying Him.”

³³ Well upon hearing it they became infuriated and started plotting to kill them.

³⁴ But someone in the council stood up (a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law respected by all the people) and commanded to put the Apostles out for a bit.

²⁹ But Peter and the apostles answered, “We have to obey God rather than men.

³⁰ The God of our forefathers raised Jesus from the dead—the one you killed by hanging him on a cross.

³¹ God exalted him to a position of honor at his right hand as Prince and Savior, as a way to bring repentance to Israel, and for the forgiveness of sins.

³² We are witnesses of what happened, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.”

³³ When the council heard this they were furious and wanted to kill them.

³⁴ But then one of the council members stood up to speak. He was Gamaliel, a Pharisee and a doctor of law who was respected by everyone. He ordered the apostles sent out for a short while.

²⁹ Then Peter and the Apostles answered, and sayd, We ought rather to obey God then men.

³⁰ The God of our fathers hath raised vp Iesus, whom ye slewe, and hanged on a tree.

³¹ Him hath God lift vp with his right hand, to be a Prince and a Sauiour, to giue repentance to Israel, and forgiuenes of sinnes.

³² And we are his witnesses concerning these things which we say: yea, and the holy Ghost, whome God hath giuen to them that obey him.

³³ Now when they heard it, they brast for anger, and consulted to slay them.

³⁴ Then stoode there vp in the Councill a certaine Pharise named Gamaliel, a doctour of the Lawe, honoured of all the people, and commanded to put the Apostles forth a litle space,

²⁹ Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

²⁹ To this Peter and the apostles replied, “We must obey God rather than people.

³⁰ The God of our ancestors raised Jesus, whom you put to death by hanging him on a cross.

³¹ It is this Jesus whom God has exalted to his right hand, to be a guide and a Saviour, to give Israel repentance and forgiveness of sins.

³² And we are witness to the truth of this, and so is the Holy Spirit — the gift of God to those who obey him.”

³³ The members of the Council became frantic with rage on hearing this, and were for putting the apostles to death.

³⁴ But Gamaliel, a Pharisee, who was a Doctor of the Law and who was held in universal respect, rose in the Council, and directed that the men should be taken out of court for a little while.

²⁹ To this Peter and the apostles replied, “We must obey God rather than people.

³⁰ The God of our ancestors raised Jesus, whom you put to death by hanging him on a cross.

³¹ It is this Jesus whom God has exalted to his right hand, to be a guide and a Savior, to give Israel repentance and forgiveness of sins.

³² And we are witness to the truth of this, and so is the Holy Spirit — the gift of God to those who obey him.”

³³ The members of the Council became frantic with rage on hearing this, and were for putting the apostles to death.

³⁴ But Gamaliel, a Pharisee, who was a Doctor of the Law and who was held in universal respect, rose in the Council, and directed that the men should be taken out of court for a little while.

²⁹ Peter stood there with the other close followers of Jesus, and he said, “We’ve got to listen to God and do whatever he says, and not listen to people.

³⁰ You got men to kill Jesus by nailing him to a cross. But God made him alive again. We Jewish people respect God, and so did our grand-fathers from a long time ago. That same God made Jesus alive again

³¹ and gave him the best place in heaven, right next to God himself, on his right side. And God made Jesus our leader, the one that can save us. And God did this so that all the Israel people can turn back to him and stop doing bad things, and then he will not punish them.

³² We saw everything that Jesus did, so we tell everyone all about it. And God gave his Holy Spirit to the people that follow Jesus, and that Holy Spirit does powerful things, to show everyone that what we say is true.”

³³ The Jewish council men heard Peter talking like that and they were really angry. They wanted to kill those close followers of Jesus.

³⁴ But one of the Jewish council men stood up in the meeting. He was called Gamaliel. He was a Jewish law man, one of the mob called Pharisees. All the people knew he was a good man and they respected him. Gamaliel told the soldiers, “Take these followers of Jesus outside for a while.”

²⁹ Peter and the other Apostles answered and sayde: We ought moare to obey God then men.

³⁰ The God of oure fathers raysed vp Iesus whom ye slewe and hanged on tre.

³¹ Him hath god lifte vp with his right hand to be a ruler and a savioure for to geve repentaunce to Israell and forgevenes of synnes.

³² And we are his recordes concernynge these thinges and also the holy goost whom God hath geve to them that obey him.

³³ When they hearde that they clave asunder: and sought meanes to slee them.

³⁴ Then stode ther vp one in the counsell a Pharisey named Gamaliel a doctoure of lawe had in auctorite amonge all the people and commaunded to put the Apostles a syde a lytell space

³² And we be witnesses of these words, and the Holy Ghost (or as is the Holy Spirit), whom God gave to all obeying to him.

³³ When they heard these things, they were tormented, and thought to slay them.

³⁴ But a man rose in the council, a Pharisee, Gamaliel by name, a doctor of the law, a worshipful man to all the people, and (he) commanded the men to be put withoutforth for a while. (But a man stood up in the Council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a teacher of the Law, a man honoured by all the people, and he commanded the men to be put outside for a while.)

²⁹ And Peter and the apostles answering, said, 'To obey God it behoveth, rather than men;

³⁰ and the God of our fathers did raise up Jesus, whom ye slew, having hanged upon a tree;

³¹ this one God, a Prince and a Saviour, hath exalted with His right hand, to give reformation to Israel, and forgiveness of sins;

³² and we are His witnesses of these sayings, and the Holy Spirit also, whom God gave to those obeying him.'

³³ And they having heard, were cut to the heart, and were taking counsel to slay them,

³⁴ but a certain one, having risen up in the sanhedrim — a Pharisee, by name Gamaliel, a teacher of law honoured by all the people — commanded to put the apostles forth a little,
