Acts 2:1-4 in English

¹ And when the day of Pentecost was now come, they were all together in one place.

² And suddenly there came from heaven a sound as of the rushing of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

³ And there appeared unto them tongues parting asunder, like as of fire; and it sat upon each one of them.

⁴ And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

¹ And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

² And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

³ And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

⁴ And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

¹ And when the day of Pentecost was now come, they were all together in one place.

¹ On the day when the Jews were celebrating the Pentecost festival, the believers were all together in one place in Jerusalem.

² Suddenly they heard a noise coming from the sky that sounded like a strong wind. Everyone in the entire house where they were sitting heard the noise.

³ Then they saw what looked like flames of fire. These flames separated from one another, and one of them came down on the head of each of the believers.

⁴ Then all of the believers were ◄completely controlled/empowered► by the Holy Spirit {the Holy Spirit ◄completely controlled/empowered► all of the believers}, and he enabled them to begin speaking other languages MTY that they had not learned.

¹ Now when the day of Pentecost had come, they were all with one accord in one place.

² Suddenly there came from the sky a sound like the rushing of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

³ Tongues like fire appeared and were distributed to them, and one sat on each of them.

⁴ They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other languages, as the Spirit gave them the ability to speak.

² And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like the rushing of a violent wind, and all the house where they were was full of it.

³ And they saw tongues, like flames of fire, coming to rest on every one of them.

⁴ And they were all full of the Holy Spirit, and were talking in different languages, as the Spirit gave them power.

¹ And when the day of Pentecost was now accomplishing, they were all together in one place.

² And there came suddenly a sound out of heaven as of a violent impetuous blowing, and filled all the house where they were sitting.

³ And there appeared to them parted tongues, as of fire, and it sat upon each one of them.

⁴ And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave to them to speak forth.

¹ And when the days of the Pentecost were accomplished, they were all together in one place:

² And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a mighty wind coming, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.

³ And there appeared to them parted tongues as it were of fire, and it sat upon every one of them:

⁴ And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they began to speak with divers tongues, according as the Holy Ghost gave them to speak.

¹ And when the day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

² And suddenly a sound came out of heaven, as being borne along by a violent wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.

³ Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and rested on each one of them.

⁴ And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in different languages, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

¹ When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together with one purpose.

² And suddenly a roar came out of the sky, like the rushing of a violent wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.

³ Fiery tongues appeared and were distributed to them, and it a tongue landed on each one of them.

⁴ And they were all filled with Holy Spirit and began to speak different languages, as the Spirit was granting to them to speak out.

¹ When the day of Pentecost came, they were all meeting together in one place.

² Suddenly a noise came from heaven like a roaring wind that filled the whole house where they were staying.

³ They saw what looked like separate tongue-shaped flames that settled on each of them.

⁴ All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different languages as the Spirit gave them the ability to do so.

¹ And when the day of Pentecost was come, they were al with one accord in one place.

² And suddenly there came a sounde from heauen, as of a russhing and mightie winde, and it filled all the house where they sate.

³ And there appeared vnto them clouen tongues, like fire, and it sate vpon eche of them.

⁴ And they were all filled with the holy Ghost, and began to speake with other tongues, as the Spirit gaue them vtterance.

¹ And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

² And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

³ And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

⁴ And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

¹ And on the day of Pentecost they were all together in one place.

² And suddenly there came out of heaven a sound, as of a rushing mighty wind; and it filled the whole house where they were sitting;

³ and there appeared to them tongues as of fire, distributing themselves; and one sat upon each of them.

⁴ And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, even as the Spirit gave them utterance.

¹ In the course of the Festival at the close of the Harvest the disciples had all met together,

² when suddenly there came from the heavens a noise like a strong wind rushing by; it filled the whole house in which they were sitting.

³ Then there appeared tongues of what seemed to be flame, separating, so that one settled on each of them;

⁴ and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in different languages as the Spirit prompted their utterances.

¹ In the course of the Festival at the close of the Harvest the disciples had all met together,

² when suddenly there came from the heavens a noise like a strong wind rushing by; it filled the whole house in which they were sitting.

³ Then there appeared tongues of what seemed to be flame, separating, so that one settled on each of them;

⁴ and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in different languages as the Spirit prompted their utterances.

¹ The special day came for the Jewish ceremony called Pentecost, and all Jesus’s followers met together in one place.

² Suddenly there was a noise that came from the sky, like a strong wind blowing. Everyone in the house heard that noise.

³ Then they saw flames of fire that spread out and touched each person there.

⁴ The Holy Spirit went into all of them and they all began to talk in different languages. The Holy Spirit gave them power to talk these languages.

¹ When the fyftith daye was come they were all with one accorde togeder in one place.

² And sodenly ther cam a sounde from heaven as it had bene the comminge of a myghty wynde and it filled all the housse where they sate.

³ And ther appered vnto them cloven tonges lyke as they had bene fyre and it sate vpon eache of them:

⁴ and they were all filled with the holy goost and beganne to speake with other tonges even as the sprete gave them vtteraunce.

³ Tongues like fire appeared and were distributed to them, and one sat on each of them.

⁴ They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other languages, as the Spirit gave them the ability to speak.

¹ And when the days of Pentecost were ful filled, all the disciples were together in the same place.

² And suddenly there was made a sound from heaven, as of a great wind coming, and it filled all the house where they sat.

³ And diverse tongues or tongues diversely parted as fire appeared to them, and it sat on each of them.

⁴ And all were filled with the Holy Ghost, and they began to speak in diverse languages or with diverse tongues, as the Holy Ghost gave to them to speak.

¹ And when the days of Pentecost were ful filled, all the disciples were together in the same place.

² And suddenly there was made a sound from heaven (or from the heavens), as of a great wind coming, and it filled all the house where they sat.

³ And diverse tongues as (flames of) fire appeared to them or And tongues diversely parted as (flames of) fire appeared to them, and it sat on each of them.

⁴ And all were filled with the Holy Ghost, and they began to speak in diverse languages or with diverse tongues, as the Holy Ghost gave to them to speak. (And all were filled with the Holy Spirit, and they began to speak in different languages, which the Holy Spirit made them able to speak.)

¹ And in the day of the Pentecost being fulfilled, they were all with one accord at the same place,

² and there came suddenly out of the heaven a sound as of a bearing violent breath, and it filled all the house where they were sitting,

³ and there appeared to them divided tongues, as it were of fire; it sat also upon each one of them,

⁴ and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, according as the Spirit was giving them to declare.
