Acts 20:2-30 in American Standard Version (1901)

2 And when he had gone through those parts, and had given them much exhortation, he came into Greece.
3 And when he had spent three months there, and a plot was laid against him by the Jews as he was about to set sail for Syria, he determined to return through Macedonia.
4 And there accompanied him as far as Asia, Sopater of Beroea, the son of Pyrrhus; and of the Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy; and of Asia, Tychicus and Trophimus.
5 But these had gone before, and were waiting for us at Troas.
6 And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and came unto them to Troas in five days; where we tarried seven days.
7 And upon the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul discoursed with them, intending to depart on the morrow; and prolonged his speech until midnight.
8 And there were many lights in the upper chamber where we were gathered together.
9 And there sat in the window a certain young man named Eutychus, borne down with deep sleep; and as Paul discoursed yet longer, being borne down by his sleep he fell down from the third story, and was taken up dead.
10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Make ye no ado; for his life is in him.
11 And when he was gone up, and had broken the bread, and eaten, and had talked with them a long while, even till break of day, so he departed.
12 And they brought the lad alive, and were not a little comforted.
13 But we, going before to the ship, set sail for Assos, there intending to take in Paul: for so had he appointed, intending himself to go by land.
14 And when he met us at Assos, we took him in, and came to Mitylene.
15 And sailing from thence, we came the following day over against Chios; and the next day we touched at Samos; and the day after we came to Miletus.
16 For Paul had determined to sail past Ephesus, that he might not have to spend time in Asia; for he was hastening, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.
17 And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called to him the elders of the church.
18 And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye yourselves know, from the first day that I set foot in Asia, after what manner I was with you all the time,
19 serving the Lord with all lowliness of mind, and with tears, and with trials which befell me by the plots of the Jews;
20 how I shrank not from declaring unto you anything that was profitable, and teaching you publicly, and from house to house,
21 testifying both to Jews and to Greeks repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
22 And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:
23 save that the Holy Spirit testifieth unto me in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.
24 But I hold not my life of any account as dear unto myself, so that I may accomplish my course, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
25 And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I went about preaching the kingdom, shall see my face no more.
26 Wherefore I testify unto you this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.
27 For I shrank not from declaring unto you the whole counsel of God.
28 Take heed unto yourselves, and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit hath made you bishops, to feed the church of the Lord which he purchased with his own blood.
29 I know that after my departing grievous wolves shall enter in among you, not sparing the flock;
30 and from among your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them.

2 And when he had gone over those parts, and had given them much exhortation, he came into Greece,
3 And there abode three months. And when the Jews laid wait for him, as he was about to sail into Syria, he purposed to return through Macedonia.
4 And there accompanied him into Asia Sopater of Berea; and of the Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe, and Timotheus; and of Asia, Tychicus and Trophimus.
5 These going before tarried for us at Troas.
6 And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and came unto them to Troas in five days; where we abode seven days.
7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.
8 And there were many lights in the upper chamber, where they were gathered together.
9 And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.
10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.
11 When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed.
12 And they brought the young man alive, and were not a little comforted.

13 And we went before to ship, and sailed unto Assos, there intending to take in Paul: for so had he appointed, minding himself to go afoot.
14 And when he met with us at Assos, we took him in, and came to Mitylene.
15 And we sailed thence, and came the next day over against Chios; and the next day we arrived at Samos, and tarried at Trogyllium; and the next day we came to Miletus.
16 For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.

17 And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church.
18 And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons,
19 Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews:
20 And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house,
21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
22 And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:
23 Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.
24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
25 And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.
26 Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.
27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.

28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.
30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.

Acts 20:2-30 in Translation for Translators

2 After he arrived there, he visited each town where there were believers, and encouraged them. Then he arrived in Greece province, which is also called Achaia.
3 He stayed there for three months. Then he planned to return to Syria by ship, but he heard that some of the Jews SYN in that area were planning to kill him as he traveled. So he decided instead to go by land, and he traveled again through Macedonia.
4 The men who were going to travel with him to Jerusalem were Sopater, who was a son of Pyrrhus, who grew up in Berea town; Aristarchus and Secundus, who were from Thessalonica city; Gaius, who was from Derbe town; Timothy, who was from Galatia province; and Tychicus and Trophimus who were from Asia province.
5 Those seven men went ahead of Paul and me, Luke, by ship from Macedonia, so they got to Troas before we did and waited for the two of us there.
6 But we two(exc) traveled by land as far as Philippi city. After the Jewish festival when they eat unleavened bread, we got on a ship that was going from the port near Philippi to Troas city. After five days we (exc) arrived at Troas and we met the other men who had traveled there ahead of us. Then we all stayed in Troas for seven days.
7 ◄On Sunday evening/On the evening of the first day of the week►, we (exc) and the other believers there gathered together to celebrate the Lord's Supper and to eat other food SYN. Paul spoke to the believers. He continued teaching them until midnight, because he was planning to leave Troas the next day.
8 Many oil lamps were burning in the upstairs room in which we (exc) had gathered, so the fumes caused some people to become sleepy.
9 A young man whose name was Eutychus was there. He was seated on the sill of an open window on the third story of the house. As Paul continued talking for a long time, Eutychus became sleepier and sleepier. Finally, he was sound/really asleep. He fell out of the window from the third story down to the ground. Some of the believers went down immediately and picked him up. But he was dead.
10 Paul also went down. He lay down and stretched out on top of the young man and put his arms around him. Then he said to the people who were standing around, “Do not worry, he is alive again now!”
11 Then Paul, along with the others, went upstairs again and they ate the Lord's Supper and other food SYN. Afterwards, Paul conversed with the believers until dawn. Then he left.
12 The other people took the young man home, and were greatly encouraged because he was alive again.
13 We then went to the ship. Paul did not get on the ship with us in Troas, because he preferred to go more quickly overland to Assos town. The rest of us got on the ship and sailed for Assos.
14 We (exc) met Paul in Assos. He got on the ship with us, and we sailed to Mitylene town.
15 The day after we reached Mitylene, we sailed from there and arrived at a place near Kios Island. The day after that, we sailed to Samos Island. The next day we left Samos and sailed to Miletus town.
16 Miletus was just south of Ephesus city. Paul had earlier decided that he would not get on a ship that would stop at Ephesus, because he did not want to spend several days in Asia province. If possible, he wanted to arrive in Jerusalem by the time of the Pentecost festival, and the time of that festival was near.
17 When the ship arrived at Miletus, Paul sent a messenger to Ephesus to ask the elders of the congregation to come to talk with him.
18 When the elders arrived, Paul said to them, “You personally know how I conducted myself among you the entire time that I was with you, from the first day when I arrived here in Asia province until the day I left.
19 You know how I was serving the Lord Jesus very humbly and how I sometimes wept about people. You also know how I suffered because the Jews SYN who were not believers often tried to harm me.
20 You also know that, as I preached God's message to you, I never left out anything that would help you. You know that I taught you God's message when many people were present, and I also went to your homes and taught it there.
21 I preached both to Jews and to non-Jews, telling them all that they must turn away from their sinful behavior. I also told them they should believe in our Lord Jesus.”
22 “And now note this: I am going to Jerusalem, because God's Spirit has clearly shown me that I must go there. I do not know what will happen to me while I am there.
23 But I do know that in each city where I have stopped, the Holy Spirit has ◄told me/ caused the believers to tell me► that in Jerusalem people will put me in prison PRS and will cause me to suffer PRS.
24 But I do not care even if people kill me, if first I am able to finish the work MET that the Lord Jesus has told me to do. He appointed me to tell people the good message that God saves us by doing for us what we do not deserve.
25 I have preached to you the message about how God desires to rule people's lives. But now I know that today is the last time that you fellow believers will see me SYN.
26 So I want you all to understand that if anyone who has heard me preach dies without trusting in Jesus, it is not my fault MTY,
27 because I told you LIT everything HYP that God has planned for us (inc).
28 You leaders must continue to believe and obey God's message. You must also help all the other believers MET for whom the Holy Spirit has caused you to be responsible MTY. Watch over MET yourselves and the other believers as a shepherd watches over his sheep. God bought them with the blood that flowed from his Son's body on the cross.
29 I know very well that after I leave, people who teach MET false doctrines will come among you and will do great harm to the believers. They will be like fierce wolves that kill sheep.
30 Even in your own group of believers there will be some who will deceive other believers by teaching them messages that are false. They will teach those messages so that some people will believe them and will become their followers.

2 And when he had gone through those parts and given them much teaching, he came into Greece.
3 And when he had been there three months, because the Jews had made a secret design against him when he was about to take ship for Syria, he made a decision to go back through Macedonia.
4 And Sopater of Beroea, the son of Pyrrhus, and Aristarchus and Secundus of Thessalonica, and Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy, and Tychicus and Trophimus of Asia, went with him as far as Asia.
5 But these had gone before, and were waiting for us at Troas.
6 And we went away from Philippi by ship after the days of unleavened bread, and came to them at Troas in five days; and we were there for seven days.
7 And on the first day of the week, when we had come together for the holy meal, Paul gave them a talk, for it was his purpose to go away on the day after; and he went on talking till after the middle of the night.
8 And there were a number of lights in the room where we had come together.
9 And a certain young man named Eutychus, who was seated in the window, went into a deep sleep; and while Paul went on talking, being overcome by sleep, he had a fall from the third floor, and was taken up dead.
10 And Paul went down and, falling on him, took him in his arms and said, Do not be troubled, for his life is in him.
11 And when he had gone up, and had taken the broken bread, he went on talking to them for a long time, even till dawn, and then he went away.
12 And they took the boy in, living, and were greatly comforted.
13 But we, going before him by ship, went to Assos with the purpose of taking Paul in there: for so he had given orders, because he himself was coming by land.
14 And when he came up with us at Assos, we took him in the ship and went on to Mitylene.
15 And going from there by sea, we came on the day after opposite Chios, and touching at Samos on the day after that, we came on the third day to Miletus.
16 For Paul's purpose was to go past Ephesus, so that he might not be kept in Asia; for he was going quickly, in order, if possible, to be at Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost.
17 And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus for the rulers of the church.
18 And when they had come, he said to them, You yourselves have seen what my life has been like all the time from the day when I first came into Asia,
19 Doing the Lord's work without pride, through all the sorrow and troubles which came on me because of the evil designs of the Jews:
20 And how I kept back nothing which might be of profit to you, teaching you publicly and privately,
21 Preaching to Jews and to Greeks the need for a turning of the heart to God, and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
22 And now, as you see, I am going to Jerusalem, a prisoner in spirit, having no knowledge of what will come to me there:
23 Only that the Holy Spirit makes clear to me in every town that prison and pains are waiting for me.
24 But I put no value on my life, if only at the end of it I may see the work complete which was given to me by the Lord Jesus, to be a witness of the good news of the grace of God.
25 And now I am conscious that you, among whom I have gone about preaching the kingdom, will not see my face again.
26 And so I say to you this day that I am clean from the blood of all men.
27 For I have not kept back from you anything of the purpose of God.
28 Give attention to yourselves, and to all the flock which the Holy Spirit has given into your care, to give food to the church of God, for which he gave his blood.
29 I am conscious that after I am gone, evil wolves will come in among you, doing damage to the flock;
30 And from among yourselves will come men who will give wrong teaching, turning away the disciples after them.

Acts 20:2-30 in Darby Translation

2 And having passed through those parts, and having exhorted them with much discourse, he came to Greece.
3 And having spent three months there, a treacherous plot against him having been set on foot by the Jews, as he was going to sail to Syria, the resolution was adopted of returning through Macedonia.
4 And there accompanied him as far as Asia, Sopater son of Pyrrhus, a Berean; and of Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus, and Gaius and Timotheus of Derbe, and of Asia, Tychicus and Trophimus.
5 These going before waited for us in Troas;
6 but we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and we came to them to Troas in five days, where we spent seven days.
7 And the first day of the week, we being assembled to break bread, Paul discoursed to them, about to depart on the morrow. And he prolonged the discourse till midnight.
8 And there were many lights in the upper room where we were assembled.
9 And a certain youth, by name Eutychus, sitting at the window-opening, overpowered by deep sleep, while Paul discoursed very much at length, having been overpowered by the sleep, fell from the third story down to the bottom, and was taken up dead.
10 But Paul descending fell upon him, and enfolding him in his arms, said, Be not troubled, for his life is in him.
11 And having gone up, and having broken the bread, and eaten, and having long spoken until daybreak, so he went away.
12 And they brought away the boy alive, and were no little comforted.
13 And we, having gone before on board ship, sailed off to Assos, going to take in Paul there; for so he had directed, he himself being about to go on foot.
14 And when he met with us at Assos, having taken him on board, we came to Mitylene;
15 and having sailed thence, on the morrow arrived opposite Chios, and the next day put in at Samos; and having stayed at Trogyllium, the next day we came to Miletus:
16 for Paul thought it desirable to sail by Ephesus, so that he might not be made to spend time in Asia; for he hastened, if it was possible for him, to be the day of Pentecost at Jerusalem.
17 But from Miletus having sent to Ephesus, he called over to him the elders of the assembly.
18 And when they were come to him, he said to them, Ye know how I was with you all the time from the first day that I arrived in Asia,
19 serving the Lord with all lowliness, and tears, and temptations, which happened to me through the plots of the Jews;
20 how I held back nothing of what is profitable, so as not to announce it to you, and to teach you publicly and in every house,
21 testifying to both Jews and Greeks repentance towards God, and faith towards our Lord Jesus Christ.
22 And now, behold, bound in my spirit I go to Jerusalem, not knowing what things shall happen to me in it;
23 only that the Holy Spirit testifies to me in every city, saying that bonds and tribulations await me.
24 But I make no account of my life as dear to myself, so that I finish my course, and the ministry which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the glad tidings of the grace of God.
25 And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone about preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.
26 Wherefore I witness to you this day, that I am clean from the blood of all,
27 for I have not shrunk from announcing to you all the counsel of God.
28 Take heed therefore to yourselves, and to all the flock, wherein the Holy Spirit has set you as overseers, to shepherd the assembly of God, which he has purchased with the blood of his own.
29 For I know this, that there will come in amongst you after my departure grievous wolves, not sparing the flock;
30 and from among your own selves shall rise up men speaking perverted things to draw away the disciples after them.

8 And there were a great number of lamps in the upper chamber where we were assembled.
9 And a certain young man named Eutychus, sitting on the window, being oppressed with a deep sleep, (as Paul was long preaching,) by occasion of his sleep fell from the third loft down, and was taken up dead.
10 To whom, when Paul had gone down, he laid himself upon him, and embracing him, said: Be not troubled, for his soul is in him.
11 Then going up, and breaking bread and tasting, and having talked a long time to them, until daylight, so he departed.
12 And they brought the youth alive, and were not a little comforted.
13 But we, going aboard the ship, sailed to Assos, being there to take in Paul; for so he had appointed, himself purposing to travel by land.
14 And when he had met with us at Assos, we took him in, and came to Mitylene.
15 And sailing thence, the day following we came over against Chios; and the next day we arrived at Samos; and the day following we came to Miletus.
16 For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, lest he should be stayed any time in Asia. For he hasted, if it were possible for him, to keep the day of Pentecost at Jerusalem.
17 And sending from Miletus to Ephesus, he called the ancients of the church.
18 And when they were come to him, and were together, he said to them: You know from the first day that I came into Asia, in what manner I have been with you, for all the time,
19 Serving the Lord with all humility, and with tears, and temptations which befell me by the conspiracies of the Jews;
20 How I have kept back nothing that was profitable to you, but have preached it to you, and taught you publicly, and from house to house,
21 Testifying both to Jews and Gentiles penance towards God, and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
22 And now, behold, being bound in the spirit, I go to Jerusalem: not knowing the things which shall befall me there:
23 Save that the Holy Ghost in every city witnesseth to me, saying: That bands and afflictions wait for me at Jerusalem.
24 But I fear none of these things, neither do I count my life more precious than myself, so that I may consummate my course and the ministry of the word which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
25 And now behold, I know that all you, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.
26 Wherefore I take you to witness this day, that I am clear from the blood of all men;
27 For I have not spared to declare unto you all the counsel of God.
28 Take heed to yourselves, and to the whole flock, wherein the Holy Ghost hath placed you bishops, to rule the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
29 I know that, after my departure, ravening wolves will enter in among you, not sparing the flock.
30 And of your own selves shall arise men speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.

2 And going through those parts, and encouraging them with many words, he came to Greece
3 and spent three months there. And as a plot by the Jews developed against him, as he was to put to sea for Syria, a decision came about to return through Macedonia.
4 And Sopater, a Berean, was accompanying him to Asia—also Aristarchus of the Thessalonians, and Secundus, and Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy, and Tychicus and Trophimus, the Asians.
5 These men, having gone ahead, were waiting for us in Troas.
6 And we sailed away after the days of Unleavened Bread, from Philippi, and we came to them in Troas within five days, where we spent seven days.
7 Now on the first day of the week, the disciples being assembled to break bread, Paul was discussing with them, being about to leave on the next day, and extended his message until midnight.
8 And there were a considerable number of lamps in the upper room where we were assembled.
9 And a certain young man named Eutychus sat in the window, being overwhelmed by a deep sleep. While Paul was speaking for a while longer, having been overwhelmed by sleep, he fell down from the third story and was taken up dead.
10 But Paul, going down, fell upon him, and embracing him said, “Do not be troubled, for his life is in him.”
11 And going up and breaking bread and eating, and talking for a considerable time, until daybreak, thus he departed.
12 And they brought the boy living, and they were encouraged greatly.
13 Now we, having gone ahead on the ship, put to sea for Assos, from there intending to take Paul on board; for thus it had been arranged, since he intended to go on foot.
14 And when he met us at Assos, having taken him aboard, we came to Mitylene.
15 And having sailing away from there, on the next day we arrived opposite Chios. The following day we approached to Samos and remained in Trogyllium. The following day we came to Miletus.
16 For Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus, in order that it might not happen to him to spend time in Asia; for he was hurrying, if it was possible for him to be in Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost.
17 Now from Miletus, having sent to Ephesus, he summoned the elders of the church.
18 And when they were present with him, he said to them: “You know from the first day which I arrived in Asia, how I was with you the whole time,
19 serving the Lord with all humility, and with many tears and trials which happened to me by the plots of the Jews;
20 how I kept back nothing that was profitable, but declared it to you, teaching you publicly and from house to house,

22 And now behold, I, having been bound in the spirit, am going to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that will happen to me there,
23 except that the Holy Spirit in every city is solemnly bearing witness, saying that bonds and tribulations are waiting for me.
24 But I count myself as nothing; nor do I regard my life as valuable to myself, so that I may complete my course with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to bear solemn testimony to the gospel of the grace of God.
25 “And now behold, now I know that you all, among whom I have passed through preaching the kingdom of God, will no longer see my face.
26 Therefore I testify to you this very day, that I am innocent of all blood.
27 For I did not draw back from declaring to you the whole counsel of God.
28 Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit placed you as overseers, to shepherd the church of the Lord, and of God, which He purchased with His own blood.
29 For I know this, that savage wolves will come in after my departure, not sparing the flock.
30 Also from among you yourselves will arise men speaking things having been distorted, in order to draw away the disciples after them.

Acts 20:2-30 in The New Testament with Commentary

2 When he had gone through those parts and encouraged them with many words, he came into Greece.
3 When he had stayed three months, as he was about to set sail for Syria, the Jews made a plot against him, so he decided to return through Macedonia.
4 Now Sopater of Berea, Aristarchus and Secundus of the Thessalonians, Gaius of Derbe, Timothy, and Tychicus and Trophimus of Asia were going to accompany him as far as Asia;
5 so having gone on ahead, these men were waiting for us in Troas.
6 But it was after the Days of Unleavened Bread that we sailed from Philippi, and in five days we joined them at Troas, where we stayed seven days.
7 Now on the first day of the week, the disciples being assembled to break bread, Paul started addressing them, and because he intended to leave the next day he continued his message until midnight.
8 There were many lamps in the upper room where we were assembled.
9 Well a certain young man named Eutychus sat in a window and was sinking into a deep sleep as Paul kept on talking; when he was overcome by the sleep he fell down from the third story and was picked up dead.
10 So Paul went down, threw himself on him and embracing him said, “Do not be distressed, because his life is in him!”
11 Then he went back up and broke bread, ate, and kept on speaking until daybreak—that is how he left!
12 (On their part, they led the boy away alive, and were greatly comforted.)
13 As for us, we went to the ship and set sail for Assos, intending to take Paul on board there—so it had been arranged, he himself intending to go on foot.
14 When he met us at Assos we took him aboard and went on to Mityline.
15 Sailing from there, the next day we arrived opposite Chios, and the day after we crossed over to Samos and stopped in Trogylium; the following day we came to Miletus.
16 (Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus, to avoid being detained in Asia, because he was hurrying to be in Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost, if he possibly could.)
17 From Miletus he sent to Ephesus and summoned the elders of the congregation.
18 So when they had come to him he said to them: “You yourselves know, from the first day that I arrived in Asia, how I lived the whole time I was with you,
19 serving the Lord with all humility, and with many tears and trials, the ones that happened to me by the plots of the Jews;
20 how I did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, teaching you publicly and from house to house,
21 solemnly proclaiming to both Jews and Greeks the repentance toward God and the faith into our Lord Jesus.
22 Now then, I am going to Jerusalem bound in my spirit, not knowing the things that will happen to me there,
23 except that the Holy Spirit keeps warning me in every city, saying that fetters and afflictions are just waiting for me.
24 However none of this moves me, nor do I regard my life as valuable to myself, just so that I may complete my course with joy, even the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to solemnly proclaim the Good News of the grace of God.
25 “Furthermore, I know that none of you among whom I have gone about proclaiming the Kingdom of God will ever see my face again.
26 Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all;
27 because I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God.
28 So take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has placed you as overseers, to shepherd the congregation of the Lord and God which He purchased with His own blood.

Acts 20:2-30 in Free Bible Version

2 He passed through the area, sharing many words of encouragement with the believers there, and then traveled on to Greece.
3 After he had spent three months there and just as he was about to sail to Syria, it was discovered that the Jews were plotting against him. So he decided to return through Macedonia.
4 These were the people who traveled with him: Sopater of Berea, the son of Pyrrhus; Aristarchus and Secundus from Thessalonica; Gaius from Derbe; Timothy; Tychicus and Trophimus from the province of Asia.
5 They went on ahead and waited for us at Troas.
6 After the Feast of Unleavened Bread we sailed from Philippi, and met them five days later in Troas, where we spent a week.
7 Paul was speaking on the first day of the week as we gathered together to break bread. He was planning to leave in the morning, and went on speaking until midnight.
8 (The upstairs room where we were meeting was lit by many lamps.)
9 A young man called Eutychus was sitting in the window, and he began feeling very sleepy. As Paul went on speaking he fell sound asleep and tumbled down from the third story. When they picked him up they found he was dead.
10 Paul went down, stretched himself out upon him, and hugged him. “Don't worry, he's alive,” he said.
11 Paul went back upstairs, broke bread, and ate together with them. He went on talking with them until dawn came, and then he left.
12 They took the young man home alive and well, and were very thankful for this.
13 We went on ahead to the ship and sailed to Assos. There we were due to pick up Paul, since that was what he had planned as he decided to travel on foot.
14 He did indeed meet us at Assos. We picked him up, and went on to Mitylene.
15 Sailing on from there we arrived off Kios, and the next day we stopped briefly at Samos, and the following day we arrived at Miletus.
16 Paul had planned to sail on past Ephesus so he wouldn't have to spend time in the province of Asia. He was keen to get to Jerusalem in time for the Day of Pentecost.
17 From Miletus Paul sent a message to the elders of the church in Ephesus.
18 When they arrived, he told them, “You know how I always behaved while I was with you from the first day I arrived in the province of Asia.
19 I served the Lord in humility and in tears. I put up with the troubles and stress caused by the plots of the Jews.
20 However, I never held back from sharing with you anything that would be to your benefit, and I taught you in public, going from house to house.
21 I witnessed both to Jews and Greeks that it was essential to repent and turn to God, and to trust in our Lord Jesus Christ.
22 Now the Spirit is insisting that I go to Jerusalem, and I have no idea what will happen to me there.
23 All I know is that in every city I visit the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and suffering are waiting for me.
24 But I don't consider my life as worth anything to me. I only want to finish my mission and the ministry that the Lord Jesus gave to me, to witness to the good news of the grace of God.
25 Now I am certain that you will not see my face again, you among whom I shared the news of the kingdom.
26 So I declare to you today that I am not responsible if anyone is lost.
27 I didn't hesitate to tell you everything God wants you to know.
28 Take care of yourselves and of all the flock, which the Holy Spirit has given to you to supervise. Feed the Lord's church which he bought with his own blood.
29 I know that after I leave vicious wolves will come among you, and won't spare the flock.
30 From among your own group men will rise up perverting what is right and good so they can lead believers to follow them.

19 serving the Lord with all humility, and with tears, and trials which befell me by the plots of the Jews;
20 how I kept back nothing that was profitable, but have made it known to you, and have taught you publicly, and from house to house;
21 testifying to both Jews and Greeks repentance toward God, and faith in our Lord Jesus.
22 And now behold, I go, bound in my spirit, to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that will befall me there;
23 save that the Holy Spirit witnesseth to me in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions await me.
24 But I count life of no value to me, so that I may finish my course, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the glad tidings of the grace of God.
25 And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I went about preaching the kingdom, will see my face no more.
26 Wherefore I testify to you this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men;
27 for I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God.
28 Take heed therefore to yourselves, and to all the flock over which the Holy Spirit made you overseers, to feed the church of the Lord, which he purchased with his own blood.
29 For I know this, that after my departure grievous wolves will enter in among you, not sparing the flock.
30 And from among yourselves will men arise speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them.

Acts 20:2-30 in Open English Bible (Commonwealth Spelling)

2 After going through those districts and speaking many encouraging words to the disciples, he went into Greece, where he stayed three months.
3 He was about to sail to Syria, when he learnt that a plot had been laid against him by several of the Jewish leaders; so he decided to return by way of Macedonia.
4 He was accompanied by Sopater the son of Pyrrhus, of Beroea, Aristarchus and Secundus from Thessalonica, Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy, as well as by Tychicus and Trophimus of Roman Asia.
5 These people went to Troas and waited for us there;
6 while we ourselves sailed from Philippi after the Passover, and joined them five days later at Troas, where we stayed for a week.
7 On the first day of the week, when we had met for the breaking of bread, Paul, who was intending to leave the next day, began to address those who were present, and prolonged his address until midnight.
8 There were a good many lamps in the upstairs room, where we had met;
9 and a young man named Eutychus, sitting at the window, was gradually overcome with great drowsiness, as Paul continued his address. At last, quite overpowered by his drowsiness, he fell from the third story to the ground, and was picked up for dead.
10 But Paul went down, threw himself on him, and put his arms around him. “Do not be alarmed,” he said, “he is still alive.”
11 Then he went upstairs; and, after breaking and partaking of the bread, he talked with them at great length until daybreak, and then left.
12 Meanwhile they had taken the lad away alive, and were greatly comforted.
13 We started first, went on board ship, and sailed for Assos, intending to take Paul on board there. This was by his own arrangement, as he intended to go by land himself.
14 So, when he met us at Assos, we took him on board and went on to Mitylene.
15 The day after we had sailed from there, we arrived off Chios, touched at Samos the following day, and the next day reached Miletus;
16 for Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus, so as to avoid spending much time in Roman Asia. He was making haste to reach Jerusalem, if possible, by the Festival at the close of the Harvest.
17 From Miletus, however, he sent to Ephesus and invited the church elders to meet him;
18 and, when they came, he said to them, “You know well the life that I always led amongst you from the very first day that I set foot in Roman Asia,
19 serving the Lord, as I did, in all humility, amid the tears and trials which fell to my lot through the plots of some of the Jewish leaders.
20 I never shrank from telling you anything that could be helpful to you, or from teaching you both in public and in private.
21 I earnestly pointed both Jews and Greeks to the repentance that leads to God, and to faith in Jesus, our Lord.
22 And now, under spiritual constraint, I am here on my way to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there,
23 except that in town after town the Holy Spirit plainly declares to me that imprisonment and troubles await me.
24 But I count my life of no value to myself, if only I may complete the course marked out for me, and the task that was allotted me by the Lord Jesus — which was to declare the good news of the love of God.
25 And now, I tell you, I know that none of you will ever see my face again — you amongst whom I have gone about proclaiming the kingdom.
26 Therefore I declare to you this day, that my conscience is clear in regard to the fate of any of you,
27 for I have not shrunk from announcing the whole purpose of God regarding you.
28 Be watchful over yourselves, and over the whole flock, of which the Holy Spirit has placed you in charge, to shepherd the church of God, which he won for himself at the cost of his life.
29 I know that, after my departure, merciless wolves will get in amongst you, who will not spare the flock;
30 and from amongst yourselves, too, people will arise, who will teach perversions of truth, so as to draw away the disciples after them.

Acts 20 in Open English Bible (U. S. spelling)

Acts 20:2-30 in Plain English Version

2 He visited all the Christians in the towns in Macedonia, and he told them a lot of things to help them be strong for Jesus. Then he kept going and went to Achaia country. Another name for that country is Greece.
3 Paul stayed in Greece for 3 months. Then he got ready to go back to Syria on a ship. But he heard that some Jews were going to try to kill him, so he changed his mind and didn’t go on that ship. Instead, he went by road through Macedonia country again.
4 Paul had some friends that went with him, but they didn’t go with him by road. They got on to that ship and went to the town called Troas and waited there. Those men were, – Sopater. His father was called Pyrrhus. He grew up in the town called Berea. – Aristarchus and Secundus, 2 men from Thessalonica. – Gaius, from Derbe. – Timothy, from Galatia country. – Tychicus and Trophimus, 2 men from Asia country. These men waited for Paul in Troas.
6 But as for me, Luke, I went with Paul by road to the town called Philippi, and we stayed there. Then the time came for the Jewish people to have their flat damper ceremony, and after that we got on a ship and kept sailing for 5 days. Then we came to the town called Troas, and we met the other men that were waiting for us there. We all stayed in Troas for 7 days.
7 On the Sunday the Christians at Troas gathered together after the sun went down, to have the special meal to remember that Jesus died for us. And we met together with them. Paul started talking to the Christians, and he kept on talking for a long time, right up until the middle of the night. You see, he was going to leave Troas the next day.
8 We were meeting in an upstairs room. It was 3 floors high. There were a lot of oil lamps burning in that room, and the smoke made some people get sleepy.
9 A young man called Eutychus was sitting at an open window. Paul kept talking for a long time, and Eutychus got very sleepy. Then he went properly to sleep, and he fell out of that window, all the way down 3 floors, to the ground. Some people went down to pick him up, but he was dead.
10 Paul went down too, and he lay down and put his arms around the young man, and pressed himself against him. Then he said, “Don’t worry, he is alive.” And that was true. He came alive again.
11 Then Paul and the others went back upstairs again, and we all ate the special meal together to remember Jesus died for us. Then Paul talked with the Christians until the sun started to come up. Then he left them and went to the ship.
12 The other people took the young man home. He was alive again, and everyone was happy.
13 Then we went back to the ship, but Paul didn’t get on the ship with us. He wanted to go by road to the town called Assos. The rest of us got on the ship and sailed to Assos.
14 We met Paul there, and he got on the ship with us, then we all sailed to the town called Mitylene.
15 The next day we kept going, and we sailed to a place near Kios Island, and the next day we sailed to Samos Island. The next day we left Samos and sailed to the town called Miletus.
16 Miletus is not very far from the town called Ephesus. It was nearly time for the Jewish ceremony called Pentecost, and Paul wanted to get to Jerusalem by Pentecost time, so he was in a hurry. He didn’t want to spend time in Asia country, so he didn’t want to go to Ephesus.
17 So after the ship arrived at Miletus, Paul sent a message to Ephesus to get the church leaders to come to talk with him at the ship.
18 After they got there, Paul talked to them. He said, “Each one of you knows the good way I lived, all the time that I was here with you in Asia country, from the first day that I was here until the day I left.
19 You know the way I worked for our leader, Jesus. I didn’t try to make myself important, and I sometimes cried about people. You know that some of the Jews here tried to hurt me.
20 And you know that I told you all of God’s message, everything that will help you. I didn’t keep anything secret. I taught you God’s message in places where everyone heard me, and I taught you in your homes too.
21 I talked to everyone. I talked to Jewish people and to people that are not Jews. I told all of them, ‘You have to turn to God and stop doing bad things, and believe in our leader Jesus.’”
22 Paul kept talking to them He said, “And now I want to tell you this. God’s spirit clearly showed me that I have to go to Jerusalem, so I’m going there. I don’t know what will happen to me at Jerusalem.
23 But I do know that in each town I went to, the Holy Spirit told me that the people in Jerusalem will hurt me and put me in prison.
24 But I will keep going to Jerusalem. I want to finish the work that our leader Jesus told me to do. I have to tell people the good news that God is good to us, and he saves us. I really don’t care about myself, even if they kill me, so long as I can tell them that good news.
25 I went all around your country and told you how to join God’s family. And now I know that none of you will see me again.
26 So I want you all to understand that if any of you doesn’t end up in God’s family, you can’t blame me.
27 I told all of you everything that God wants to do for you.
28 Now you leaders have to watch out for yourselves, and watch out for God’s people here too. Make sure you keep on following Jesus properly, and help all God’s people to follow him properly too. The Holy Spirit picked you to be their leaders, so look after them properly. Remember, God bought his people with the blood of his own son.
29 I know that after I go away from here, other people will come to you and they will teach you lies. They will try to trick all of God’s people. They will be like cheeky dingoes that kill sheep. Even in your own group of Christians, some men will get up and trick other Christians. They will change the true story and tell it wrong, so they can get people to follow them.

2 And when he had gone over those parties and geven them large exhortacions he came into Grece

4 Ther acompanied him into Asia Sopater of Berrea and of Thessalonia Aristarcus and Secundus and Gayus of Derba and Timotheus: and out of Asia Tychicus and Trophimos.
5 These went before and taryed vs at Troas.

11 When he was come vp agayne he brake breed and tasted and comened a longe whyle even tyll the mornynge and so departed.
12 And they brought the youge man a lyve and were not alytell comforted.
13 And we went a fore to shippe and lowsed vnto Asson there to receave Paul. For so had he apoynted and wolde him selfe goo a fote.
14 When he was come to vs vnto Asson we toke him in and came to Mytelenes.
15 And we sayled thence and came the nexte daye over agaynst Chios. And the nexte daye we aryved at Samos and taryed at Trogilion. The nexte daye we came to Myleton:
16 for Paul had determined to leave Ephesus as they sayled because he wolde not spende the tyme in Asia. For he hasted to be (yf he coulde possible) at Ierusalem at the daye of pentecoste.
17 Wherfore from Myleton he sent to Ephesus and called the elders of the congregacion.
18 And when they were come to him he sayde vnto the: Ye knowe from the fyrst daye that I came vnto Asia after what maner I have bene with you at all ceasons
19 servynge the lorde with all humblenes of mynde and with many teares and temptacions which happened vnto me by the layinges awayte of the Ieues
20 and how I kept backe no thinge that was profitable: but that I have shewed you and taught you openly and at home in youre houses

22 And now beholde I goo bounde in the sprete vnto Ierusalem and knowe not what shall come on me there

24 But none of tho thinges move me: nether is my lyfe dere vnto my selfe that I myght fulfill my course with ioye and the ministracion which I have receaved of the Lorde Iesu to testify the gospell of the grace of god.
25 And now beholde I am sure that hence forth ye all (thorow who I have gone preachinge the kyngdome of God) shall se my face no moore.
26 Wherfore I take you to recorde this same daye that I am pure from the bloude of all men.

28 Take hede therfore vnto youre selves and to all the flocke wherof the holy goost hath made you oversears to rule the congregacion of God which he hath purchased with his bloud.
29 For I am sure of this that after my departynge shall greveous wolves entre in amonge you which will not spare the flocke.
30 Moreover of youre awne selves shall men aryse speakinge perverse thinges to drawe disciples after them.

Acts 20:2-30 in Unlocked Literal Bible

2 When he had gone through those regions and had spoken many words of encouragement to them, he came to Greece.
3 After he had spent three months there, a plot was formed against him by the Jews as he was about to sail for Syria, so he decided to return through Macedonia.
4 Accompanying him as far as Asia were Sopater son of Pyrrhus from Berea; Aristarchus and Secundus, both from the Thessalonian believers; Gaius of Derbe; Timothy; and Tychicus and Trophimus from Asia.
5 But these men had gone before us and were waiting for us at Troas.
6 We sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and in five days we came to them in Troas. There we stayed for seven days.
7 On the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul spoke to the believers. He was planning to leave the next day, so he kept speaking until midnight.
8 There were many lamps in the upper room where we had come together.
9 In the window was sitting a young man named Eutychus, who fell into a deep sleep. As Paul spoke even longer, this young man, still sleeping, fell down from the third story and was picked up dead.
10 But Paul went down, stretched himself out on him, and embraced him. Then he said, “Do not be upset any more, for he is alive.”
11 Then he went upstairs again and broke bread and ate. After talking with them much longer until dawn, he left.
12 They brought back the boy alive and were greatly comforted.
13 We ourselves went ahead of Paul by ship and sailed away to Assos, where we planned to take Paul on board. This is what he himself desired to do, because he planned to go by land.
14 When he met us at Assos, we took him onto the ship and went to Mitylene.
15 Then we sailed from there and arrived the next day opposite the island of Chios. The following day we touched at the island of Samos, and the day after we came to the city of Miletus.
16 For Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus, so that he would not spend any time in Asia; for he was hurrying to be in Jerusalem for the day of Pentecost, if it were at all possible for him to do so.
17 From Miletus he sent men to Ephesus and called to himself the elders of the church.
18 When they had come to him, he said to them, “You yourselves know, from the first day that I set foot in Asia, how I always spent my time with you.
19 I kept serving the Lord with all lowliness of mind and with tears, and in sufferings that happened to me because of the plots of the Jews.
20 You know how I did not keep back from declaring to you anything that was useful, and how I taught you in public and from house to house,
21 testifying both Jews and Greeks about repentance toward God and of faith in our Lord Jesus.
22 Now look, I am going to Jerusalem, compelled by the Spirit, not knowing what will happen to me there,
23 except that the Holy Spirit warns to me in every city that chains and sufferings await me.
24 But I do not consider my life is valuable to myself, if only I may finish the race and complete the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.
25 Now look, I know that you all, among whom I went about proclaiming the kingdom, will see my face no more.
26 Therefore I testify to you this day, that I am innocent of the blood of any man.
27 For I did not hold back from declaring to you the whole will of God.
28 Therefore be careful about yourselves, and about all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be careful to shepherd the church of God, which he purchased with his own blood.
29 I know that after my departure, vicious wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock.
30 I know that from even among you some men shall come and distort the truth in order to draw away the disciples after them.

3 And there abode three months. And when the Jews laid wait for him, as he was about to sail into Syria, he purposed to return through Macedonia.
4 And there accompanied him into Asia Sopater of Berea; and of the Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy; and of Asia, Tychicus, and Trophimus.
5 These going before, tarried for us at Troas.
6 And we sailed away from Philippi, after the days of unleavened bread, and came to them to Troas in five days; where we abode seven days.
7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached to them (ready to depart on the morrow) and continued his speech until midnight.
8 And there were many lights in the upper chamber, where they were assembled.
9 And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, having fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell from the third loft, and was taken up dead.
10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him , said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.
11 When he had come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and discoursed a long while, even till break of day, so he departed.
12 And they brought the young man alive, and were not a little comforted.
13 And we went before to a ship, and sailed to Assos, there intending to take in Paul: for so he had appointed, intending himself to go on foot.
18 And when they had come to him, he said to them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons,
19 Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews:
20 And how I kept back nothing that was profitable to you , but have shown you, and have taught you publicly, and from house to house,
21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance towards God, and faith towards our Lord Jesus Christ.
22 And now behold, I go bound in the spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:
23 Save that the Holy Spirit testifieth in every city, saying, that bonds and afflictions abide me.
24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my course with joy, and the ministry which I have received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
25 And now behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, will see my face no more.
26 Wherefore I call you to witness this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men .
27 For I have not shunned to declare to you all the counsel of God.
28 Take heed therefore to yourselves, and to all the flock over which the Holy Spirit hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
29 For I know this, that after my departure grievous wolves will enter in among you, not sparing the flock.
30 Also from your own selves will men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.

3 When he had spent three months there, and a plot was made against him by Jews as he was about to set sail for Syria, he determined to return through Macedonia.
4 These accompanied him as far as Asia: Sopater of Beroea, Aristarchus and Secundus of the Thessalonians, Gaius of Derbe, Timothy, and Tychicus and Trophimus of Asia.
5 But these had gone ahead, and were waiting for us at Troas.
6 We sailed away from Philippi after the days of Unleavened Bread, and came to them at Troas in five days, where we stayed seven days.
7 On the first day of the week, when the disciples were gathered together to break bread, Paul talked with them, intending to depart on the next day; and continued his speech until midnight.
8 There were many lights in the upper room where we were gathered together.
9 A certain young man named Eutychus sat in the window, weighed down with deep sleep. As Paul spoke still longer, being weighed down by his sleep, he fell down from the third floor and was taken up dead.
10 Paul went down and fell upon him, and embracing him said, “Don’t be troubled, for his life is in him.”
11 When he had gone up, had broken bread and eaten, and had talked with them a long while, even until break of day, he departed.
12 They brought the boy in alive, and were greatly comforted.
13 But we, going ahead to the ship, set sail for Assos, intending to take Paul aboard there; for he had so arranged, intending himself to go by land.
14 When he met us at Assos, we took him aboard and came to Mitylene.
15 Sailing from there, we came the following day opposite Chios. The next day we touched at Samos and stayed at Trogyllium, and the day after we came to Miletus.
16 For Paul had determined to sail past Ephesus, that he might not have to spend time in Asia; for he was hastening, if it were possible for him, to be in Jerusalem on the day of Shavu`ot.
17 From Miletus he sent to Ephesus and called to himself the elders of the assembly.
18 When they had come to him, he said to them, “You yourselves know, from the first day that I set foot in Asia, how I was with you all the time,
19 serving the Lord with all humility, with many tears, and with trials which happened to me by the plots of the Jews;

22 Now, behold, I go bound by the Spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there;
23 except that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions wait for me.
24 But these things don’t count; nor do I hold my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Yeshua, to fully testify to the Good News of the grace of God.
25 “Now, behold, I know that you all, among whom I went about proclaiming God’s Kingdom, will see my face no more.
26 Therefore I testify to you today that I am clean from the blood of all men,
27 for I didn’t shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God.
28 Take heed, therefore, to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the assembly of the Lord and God which he purchased with his own blood.

2 And when he had walked by those coasts or parts, and had admonished them by many words, he came to Greece.
3 Where when he had been three months, the Jews laid ambush for him, that was to sail into Syria; and he had counsel to turn again by Macedonia.
4 And Sopater of Pyrri Berea pursued him; of Thessalonians, Aristarchus, and Secundus, and Gaius Derbeus, and Timothy; and Asians, Tychicus and Trophimus.
5 These for they went before, abode us at Troas.
6 For we shipped after the days of therf loaves from Philippi, and came to them at Troas in five days, where we dwelt seven days.
7 And in the first day of the week, when we came to break bread, Paul disputed with them, and should go forth in the morrow; and he drew along the sermon till into midnight.
8 And many lamps were in the solar, where we were gathered together.
9 And a young man, Eutychus by name, sat on the window, when he was fallen into an heavy sleep, while Paul disputed long, all sleeping he fell down from the third stage; and he was taken up, and was brought dead.
10 To whom when Paul came down, he lay on him, and embraced, and said, Do not ye be troubled; for his soul is in him.
11 And he went up, and brake bread, and ate, and spake enough unto the day or till into the light; and so he went forth.
12 And they brought the child alive, and they were comforted greatly.
13 And we went up into a ship, and shipped into Assos, to take Paul from thence; for so he had disposed to make journey by land.
14 And when he found us in Assos, we took him, and came to Mitylene.
15 And from thence we shipped in the day pursuing, and we came against Chios, and another day we havened at Samos, and in the day pursuing, we came to Miletus.
16 And Paul purposed to ship over to Ephesus, lest any tarrying were made to him in Asia; for he hied, if it were possible to him, that he should be in the day of Pentecost at Jerusalem.
17 From Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the greatest men of birth or the more through birth, either the elder men, of the church.
18 And when they came to him, and were together, he said to them, Ye know from the first day, in which I came into Asia, how with you by each time I was,
19 serving to the Lord with all meekness, and mildness, and tears, and temptations, that felled to me of ambushings of Jews;
20 how I withdrew not or nought of profitable things to you, that I told not to you, and taught you openly, and by houses;
21 and I witnessed to Jews and to heathen men penance into God, and faith into our Lord Jesus Christ.
22 And now lo! I am bound in spirit, and go into Jerusalem; and I know not what things shall come to me in it,
23 but that the Holy Ghost by all cities witnesseth to me, and saith, that bonds and tribulations at Jerusalem abide me.
24 But I dread nothing of these, neither I make my life preciouser than myself, so that I end, or fulfill, my course, and the ministry of the word, which I received of the Lord Jesus, to witness the gospel of the grace of God.
25 And now lo! I know, that ye shall no more see my face, all ye by which I passed, preaching the kingdom of God.
26 Wherefore I witness to you this day, that I am clean of the blood of all men.
27 For I fled or flew not away, that I told not to you all the counsel of God.
28 Take ye attention to you, and to all the flock, in which the Holy Ghost hath set or hath put you, bishops to rule the church of God, which he purchased with his blood.
29 I know, that after my departing, ravening wolves shall enter into you, not sparing the flock;
30 and men speaking shrewd or wayward things shall rise of your-selves, that they lead away disciples after them.

5 These (men) for they went before, abode us at Troas. (And because these men went ahead of us, they waited for us at Troas.)

16 And Paul purposed to ship over to Ephesus, lest any tarrying were made to him in Asia; for he hied, if it were possible to him, that he should be in the day of Pentecost at Jerusalem, (or for he made haste, so that if it was possible for him, he would be in Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost).
17 From Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the greatest men of birth or the more through birth, either the elder men, of the church.
18 And when they came to him, and were together, he said to them, Ye know from the first day, in which I came into Asia, how with you by each time I was,

20 how I withdrew not or nought of profitable things to you, that I told not to you, and taught you openly, and by houses; (how I kept nothing profitable from you, yea, that I did not tell you, but rather, I taught you openly, or in public, and also in your homes;)
21 and I witnessed to Jews and to heathen men penance into God, and faith into our Lord Jesus Christ. (and I testified to Jews and to Gentiles alike, the need for repentance unto God, and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.)
22 And now lo! I am bound in spirit, and go into Jerusalem; and I know not what things shall come to me in it,
23 no but that the Holy Ghost by all cities witnesseth to me, and saith, that bonds and tribulations at Jerusalem abide me. (except that the Holy Spirit in every city testifieth to me, that bondage, or imprisonment, and troubles await me in Jerusalem.)
24 But I dread nothing of these, neither I make my life preciouser than myself, so that I end, or fulfill, my course, and the ministry of the word, which I received of the Lord Jesus, to witness the gospel of the grace of God. (But I fear none of that, nor do I make my life of any great value, I only desire that I fulfill my course, and the ministry of the word, which I received from the Lord Jesus, yea, to testify to the Gospel, or the Good News, of the grace of God.)
25 And now lo! I know, that ye shall no more see my face, all ye by which I passed (or all ye of whom I have been among), preaching the kingdom of God.
26 Wherefore I witness to you this day (or And so I testify to you this day), that I am clean of the blood of all men.
27 For I fled not away or For I flew not away, that I told not to you all the counsel of God. (For I did not fly away, or hold anything back, so that I did not tell you all of God’s plans.)
28 Take ye attention to you(rselves), and to all (of) the flock, in which the Holy Ghost hath set you, or hath put you, (as) bishops (or among whom the Holy Spirit hath made you overseers), to rule the church of God, which he purchased with his blood.
29 I know, that after my departing, ravening (or snatching) wolves shall enter into you, not sparing the flock;
30 and men speaking shrewd or wayward things shall rise (up out) of yourselves (or and men speaking depraved things shall rise up from among you), (so) that they lead away (the) disciples after them.

Acts 20:2-30 in Young's Literal Translation

2 and having gone through those parts, and having exhorted them with many words, he came to Greece;
3 having made also three months' stay — a counsel of the Jews having been against him — being about to set forth to Syria, there came to him a resolution of returning through Macedonia.
4 And there were accompanying him unto Asia, Sopater of Berea, and of Thessalonians Aristarchus and Secundus, and Gaius of Derbe, and Timotheus, and of Asiatics Tychicus and Trophimus;
5 these, having gone before, did remain for us in Troas,
6 and we sailed, after the days of the unleavened food, from Philippi, and came unto them to Troas in five days, where we abode seven days.
7 And on the first of the week, the disciples having been gathered together to break bread, Paul was discoursing to them, about to depart on the morrow, he was also continuing the discourse till midnight,
8 and there were many lamps in the upper chamber where they were gathered together,
9 and there was sitting a certain youth, by name Eutychus, upon the window — being borne down by a deep sleep, Paul discoursing long — he having sunk down from the sleep, fell down from the third story, and was lifted up dead.
10 And Paul, having gone down, fell upon him, and having embraced him, said, 'Make no tumult, for his life is in him;'
11 and having come up, and having broken bread, and having tasted, for a long time also having talked — till daylight, so he went forth,
12 and they brought up the lad alive, and were comforted in no ordinary measure.
13 And we having gone before unto the ship, did sail to Assos, thence intending to take in Paul, for so he had arranged, intending himself to go on foot;
14 and when he met with us at Assos, having taken him up, we came to Mitylene,
15 and thence having sailed, on the morrow we came over-against Chios, and the next day we arrived at Samos, and having remained in Trogyllium, on the following day we came to Miletus,
16 for Paul decided to sail past Ephesus, that there may not be to him a loss of time in Asia, for he hasted, if it were possible for him, on the day of the Pentecost to be at Jerusalem.
17 And from Miletus, having sent to Ephesus, he called for the elders of the assembly,
18 and when they were come unto him, he said to them, 'Ye — ye know from the first day in which I came to Asia, how, with you at all times I was;
19 serving the Lord with all humility, and many tears, and temptations, that befell me in the counsels of the Jews against me;
20 how nothing I did keep back of what things are profitable, not to declare to you, and to teach you publicly, and in every house,
21 testifying fully both to Jews and Greeks, toward God reformation, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
22 'And now, lo, I — bound in the Spirit — go on to Jerusalem, the things that shall befall me in it not knowing,
23 save that the Holy Spirit in every city doth testify fully, saying, that for me bonds and tribulations remain;
24 but I make account of none of these, neither do I count my life precious to myself, so that I finish my course with joy, and the ministration that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify fully the good news of the grace of God.
25 'And now, lo, I have known that no more shall ye see my face, — ye all among whom I did go preaching the reign of God;
26 wherefore I take you to witness this day, that I am clear from the blood of all,
27 for I did not keep back from declaring to you all the counsel of God.
28 'Take heed, therefore, to yourselves, and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit made you overseers, to feed the assembly of God that He acquired through His own blood,
29 for I have known this, that there shall enter in, after my departing, grievous wolves unto you, not sparing the flock,
30 and of your own selves there shall arise men, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them.
