Acts 20:15-24 in English

¹⁵ And sailing from thence, we came the following day over against Chios; and the next day we touched at Samos; and the day after we came to Miletus.

¹⁶ For Paul had determined to sail past Ephesus, that he might not have to spend time in Asia; for he was hastening, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.

¹⁷ And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called to him the elders of the church.

¹⁸ And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye yourselves know, from the first day that I set foot in Asia, after what manner I was with you all the time,

¹⁹ serving the Lord with all lowliness of mind, and with tears, and with trials which befell me by the plots of the Jews;

²⁰ how I shrank not from declaring unto you anything that was profitable, and teaching you publicly, and from house to house,

²¹ testifying both to Jews and to Greeks repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

²² And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:

²³ save that the Holy Spirit testifieth unto me in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.

²⁴ But I hold not my life of any account as dear unto myself, so that I may accomplish my course, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

¹⁵ And we sailed thence, and came the next day over against Chios; and the next day we arrived at Samos, and tarried at Trogyllium; and the next day we came to Miletus.

¹⁶ For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.

¹⁷ And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church.

¹⁸ And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons,

¹⁹ Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews:

²⁰ And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house,

²¹ Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

²² And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:

²³ Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.

²⁴ But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

²³ save that the Holy Ghost testifieth unto me in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.

²⁴ But I hold not my life of any account, as dear unto myself, so that I may accomplish my course, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

¹⁵ The day after we reached Mitylene, we sailed from there and arrived at a place near Kios Island. The day after that, we sailed to Samos Island. The next day we left Samos and sailed to Miletus town.

¹⁶ Miletus was just south of Ephesus city. Paul had earlier decided that he would not get on a ship that would stop at Ephesus, because he did not want to spend several days in Asia province. If possible, he wanted to arrive in Jerusalem by the time of the Pentecost festival, and the time of that festival was near.

¹⁷ When the ship arrived at Miletus, Paul sent a messenger to Ephesus to ask the elders of the congregation to come to talk with him.

¹⁸ When the elders arrived, Paul said to them, “You personally know how I conducted myself among you the entire time that I was with you, from the first day when I arrived here in Asia province until the day I left.

¹⁹ You know how I was serving the Lord Jesus very humbly and how I sometimes wept about people. You also know how I suffered because the Jews SYN who were not believers often tried to harm me.

²⁰ You also know that, as I preached God's message to you, I never left out anything that would help you. You know that I taught you God's message when many people were present, and I also went to your homes and taught it there.

²¹ I preached both to Jews and to non-Jews, telling them all that they must turn away from their sinful behavior. I also told them they should believe in our Lord Jesus.”

²² “And now note this: I am going to Jerusalem, because God's Spirit has clearly shown me that I must go there. I do not know what will happen to me while I am there.

²³ But I do know that in each city where I have stopped, the Holy Spirit has ◄told me/ caused the believers to tell me► that in Jerusalem people will put me in prison PRS and will cause me to suffer PRS.

²⁴ But I do not care even if people kill me, if first I am able to finish the work MET that the Lord Jesus has told me to do. He appointed me to tell people the good message that God saves us by doing for us what we do not deserve.

¹⁵ And going from there by sea, we came on the day after opposite Chios, and touching at Samos on the day after that, we came on the third day to Miletus.

¹⁶ For Paul's purpose was to go past Ephesus, so that he might not be kept in Asia; for he was going quickly, in order, if possible, to be at Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost.

¹⁷ And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus for the rulers of the church.

¹⁸ And when they had come, he said to them, You yourselves have seen what my life has been like all the time from the day when I first came into Asia,

¹⁹ Doing the Lord's work without pride, through all the sorrow and troubles which came on me because of the evil designs of the Jews:

²⁰ And how I kept back nothing which might be of profit to you, teaching you publicly and privately,

²¹ Preaching to Jews and to Greeks the need for a turning of the heart to God, and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

²² And now, as you see, I am going to Jerusalem, a prisoner in spirit, having no knowledge of what will come to me there:

²³ Only that the Holy Spirit makes clear to me in every town that prison and pains are waiting for me.

²⁴ But I put no value on my life, if only at the end of it I may see the work complete which was given to me by the Lord Jesus, to be a witness of the good news of the grace of God.

¹⁵ and having sailed thence, on the morrow arrived opposite Chios, and the next day put in at Samos; and having stayed at Trogyllium, the next day we came to Miletus:

¹⁶ for Paul thought it desirable to sail by Ephesus, so that he might not be made to spend time in Asia; for he hastened, if it was possible for him, to be the day of Pentecost at Jerusalem.

¹⁷ But from Miletus having sent to Ephesus, he called over to him the elders of the assembly.

¹⁸ And when they were come to him, he said to them, Ye know how I was with you all the time from the first day that I arrived in Asia,

¹⁹ serving the Lord with all lowliness, and tears, and temptations, which happened to me through the plots of the Jews;

²⁰ how I held back nothing of what is profitable, so as not to announce it to you, and to teach you publicly and in every house,

²¹ testifying to both Jews and Greeks repentance towards God, and faith towards our Lord Jesus Christ.

²² And now, behold, bound in my spirit I go to Jerusalem, not knowing what things shall happen to me in it;

²³ only that the Holy Spirit testifies to me in every city, saying that bonds and tribulations await me.

²⁴ But I make no account of my life as dear to myself, so that I finish my course, and the ministry which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the glad tidings of the grace of God.

¹⁵ And sailing thence, the day following we came over against Chios; and the next day we arrived at Samos; and the day following we came to Miletus.

¹⁶ For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, lest he should be stayed any time in Asia. For he hasted, if it were possible for him, to keep the day of Pentecost at Jerusalem.

¹⁷ And sending from Miletus to Ephesus, he called the ancients of the church.

¹⁸ And when they were come to him, and were together, he said to them: You know from the first day that I came into Asia, in what manner I have been with you, for all the time,

¹⁹ Serving the Lord with all humility, and with tears, and temptations which befell me by the conspiracies of the Jews;

²⁰ How I have kept back nothing that was profitable to you, but have preached it to you, and taught you publicly, and from house to house,

²¹ Testifying both to Jews and Gentiles penance towards God, and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

²² And now, behold, being bound in the spirit, I go to Jerusalem: not knowing the things which shall befall me there:

²³ Save that the Holy Ghost in every city witnesseth to me, saying: That bands and afflictions wait for me at Jerusalem.

²⁴ But I fear none of these things, neither do I count my life more precious than myself, so that I may consummate my course and the ministry of the word which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

¹⁵ And having sailing away from there, on the next day we arrived opposite Chios. The following day we approached to Samos and remained in Trogyllium. The following day we came to Miletus.

¹⁶ For Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus, in order that it might not happen to him to spend time in Asia; for he was hurrying, if it was possible for him to be in Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost.

¹⁷ Now from Miletus, having sent to Ephesus, he summoned the elders of the church.

¹⁸ And when they were present with him, he said to them: “You know from the first day which I arrived in Asia, how I was with you the whole time,

¹⁹ serving the Lord with all humility, and with many tears and trials which happened to me by the plots of the Jews;

²⁰ how I kept back nothing that was profitable, but declared it to you, teaching you publicly and from house to house,

²¹ solemnly bearing witness to both Jews and to Greeks, repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus.

²² And now behold, I, having been bound in the spirit, am going to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that will happen to me there,

²³ except that the Holy Spirit in every city is solemnly bearing witness, saying that bonds and tribulations are waiting for me.

²⁴ But I count myself as nothing; nor do I regard my life as valuable to myself, so that I may complete my course with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to bear solemn testimony to the gospel of the grace of God.

¹⁵ Sailing from there, the next day we arrived opposite Chios, and the day after we crossed over to Samos and stopped in Trogylium; the following day we came to Miletus.

¹⁶ (Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus, to avoid being detained in Asia, because he was hurrying to be in Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost, if he possibly could.)

¹⁷ From Miletus he sent to Ephesus and summoned the elders of the congregation.

¹⁸ So when they had come to him he said to them: “You yourselves know, from the first day that I arrived in Asia, how I lived the whole time I was with you,

¹⁹ serving the Lord with all humility, and with many tears and trials, the ones that happened to me by the plots of the Jews;

²⁰ how I did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, teaching you publicly and from house to house,

²¹ solemnly proclaiming to both Jews and Greeks the repentance toward God and the faith into our Lord Jesus.

²² Now then, I am going to Jerusalem bound in my spirit, not knowing the things that will happen to me there,

²³ except that the Holy Spirit keeps warning me in every city, saying that fetters and afflictions are just waiting for me.

²⁴ However none of this moves me, nor do I regard my life as valuable to myself, just so that I may complete my course with joy, even the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to solemnly proclaim the Good News of the grace of God.

¹⁵ Sailing on from there we arrived off Kios, and the next day we stopped briefly at Samos, and the following day we arrived at Miletus.

¹⁶ Paul had planned to sail on past Ephesus so he wouldn't have to spend time in the province of Asia. He was keen to get to Jerusalem in time for the Day of Pentecost.

¹⁷ From Miletus Paul sent a message to the elders of the church in Ephesus.

¹⁸ When they arrived, he told them, “You know how I always behaved while I was with you from the first day I arrived in the province of Asia.

¹⁹ I served the Lord in humility and in tears. I put up with the troubles and stress caused by the plots of the Jews.

²⁰ However, I never held back from sharing with you anything that would be to your benefit, and I taught you in public, going from house to house.

²¹ I witnessed both to Jews and Greeks that it was essential to repent and turn to God, and to trust in our Lord Jesus Christ.

²² Now the Spirit is insisting that I go to Jerusalem, and I have no idea what will happen to me there.

²³ All I know is that in every city I visit the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and suffering are waiting for me.

²⁴ But I don't consider my life as worth anything to me. I only want to finish my mission and the ministry that the Lord Jesus gave to me, to witness to the good news of the grace of God.

¹⁵ And wee sailed thence, and came the next day ouer against Chios, and the next day we arriued at Samos, and tarried at Trogyllium: the next day we came to Miletum.

¹⁶ For Paul had determined to saile by Ephesus, because hee woulde not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted to be, if hee could possible, at Hierusalem, at the day of Pentecost.

¹⁷ Wherefore from Miletum, hee sent to Ephesus, and called the Elders of the Church.

¹⁸ Who when they were come to him, hee said vnto them, Ye know from the first day that I came into Asia, after what maner I haue bene with you at all seasons,

¹⁹ Seruing the Lord with all modestie, and with many teares, and tentations, which came vnto me by the layings awaite of the Iewes,

²⁰ And how I kept backe nothing that was profitable, but haue shewed you, and taught you openly and throughout euery house,

²¹ Witnessing both to the Iewes, and to the Grecians the repentance towarde God, and faith toward our Lord Iesus Christ.

²² And nowe beholde, I goe bound in the Spirit vnto Hierusalem, and know not what things shall come vnto me there,

²³ Saue that ye holy Ghost witnesseth in euery citie, saying, that bondes and afflictions abide me.

²⁴ But I passe not at all, neither is my life deare vnto my selfe, so that I may fulfill my course with ioye, and the ministration which I haue receiued of the Lord Iesus, to testifie the Gospell of the grace of God.

¹⁵ And we sailed thence, and came the next day over against Chios; and the next day we arrived at Samos, and tarried at Trogyllium; and the next day we came to Miletus.

²⁰ how I kept back nothing that was profitable, but have made it known to you, and have taught you publicly, and from house to house;

²¹ testifying to both Jews and Greeks repentance toward God, and faith in our Lord Jesus.

²² And now behold, I go, bound in my spirit, to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that will befall me there;

²³ save that the Holy Spirit witnesseth to me in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions await me.

²⁴ But I count life of no value to me, so that I may finish my course, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify the glad tidings of the grace of God.

¹⁵ The day after we had sailed from there, we arrived off Chios, touched at Samos the following day, and the next day reached Miletus;

¹⁶ for Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus, so as to avoid spending much time in Roman Asia. He was making haste to reach Jerusalem, if possible, by the Festival at the close of the Harvest.

¹⁷ From Miletus, however, he sent to Ephesus and invited the church elders to meet him;

¹⁸ and, when they came, he said to them, “You know well the life that I always led amongst you from the very first day that I set foot in Roman Asia,

¹⁹ serving the Lord, as I did, in all humility, amid the tears and trials which fell to my lot through the plots of some of the Jewish leaders.

²⁰ I never shrank from telling you anything that could be helpful to you, or from teaching you both in public and in private.

²¹ I earnestly pointed both Jews and Greeks to the repentance that leads to God, and to faith in Jesus, our Lord.

²² And now, under spiritual constraint, I am here on my way to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there,

²³ except that in town after town the Holy Spirit plainly declares to me that imprisonment and troubles await me.

²⁴ But I count my life of no value to myself, if only I may complete the course marked out for me, and the task that was allotted me by the Lord Jesus — which was to declare the good news of the love of God.

¹⁵ The day after we had sailed from there, we arrived off Chios, touched at Samos the following day, and the next day reached Miletus;

¹⁶ for Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus, so as to avoid spending much time in Roman Asia. He was making haste to reach Jerusalem, if possible, by the Festival at the close of the Harvest.

¹⁷ From Miletus, however, he sent to Ephesus and invited the church elders to meet him;

¹⁸ and, when they came, he said to them, “You know well the life that I always led among you from the very first day that I set foot in Roman Asia,

¹⁹ serving the Lord, as I did, in all humility, amid the tears and trials which fell to my lot through the plots of some of the Jewish leaders.

²⁰ I never shrank from telling you anything that could be helpful to you, or from teaching you both in public and in private.

²¹ I earnestly pointed both Jews and Greeks to the repentance that leads to God, and to faith in Jesus, our Lord.

¹⁵ The next day we kept going, and we sailed to a place near Kios Island, and the next day we sailed to Samos Island. The next day we left Samos and sailed to the town called Miletus.

¹⁶ Miletus is not very far from the town called Ephesus. It was nearly time for the Jewish ceremony called Pentecost, and Paul wanted to get to Jerusalem by Pentecost time, so he was in a hurry. He didn’t want to spend time in Asia country, so he didn’t want to go to Ephesus.

¹⁷ So after the ship arrived at Miletus, Paul sent a message to Ephesus to get the church leaders to come to talk with him at the ship.

¹⁸ After they got there, Paul talked to them. He said, “Each one of you knows the good way I lived, all the time that I was here with you in Asia country, from the first day that I was here until the day I left.

¹⁹ You know the way I worked for our leader, Jesus. I didn’t try to make myself important, and I sometimes cried about people. You know that some of the Jews here tried to hurt me.

²⁰ And you know that I told you all of God’s message, everything that will help you. I didn’t keep anything secret. I taught you God’s message in places where everyone heard me, and I taught you in your homes too.

²¹ I talked to everyone. I talked to Jewish people and to people that are not Jews. I told all of them, ‘You have to turn to God and stop doing bad things, and believe in our leader Jesus.’”

²² Paul kept talking to them He said, “And now I want to tell you this. God’s spirit clearly showed me that I have to go to Jerusalem, so I’m going there. I don’t know what will happen to me at Jerusalem.

²³ But I do know that in each town I went to, the Holy Spirit told me that the people in Jerusalem will hurt me and put me in prison.

²⁴ But I will keep going to Jerusalem. I want to finish the work that our leader Jesus told me to do. I have to tell people the good news that God is good to us, and he saves us. I really don’t care about myself, even if they kill me, so long as I can tell them that good news.

¹⁵ And we sayled thence and came the nexte daye over agaynst Chios. And the nexte daye we aryved at Samos and taryed at Trogilion. The nexte daye we came to Myleton:

¹⁶ for Paul had determined to leave Ephesus as they sayled because he wolde not spende the tyme in Asia. For he hasted to be (yf he coulde possible) at Ierusalem at the daye of pentecoste.

¹⁷ Wherfore from Myleton he sent to Ephesus and called the elders of the congregacion.

¹⁸ And when they were come to him he sayde vnto the: Ye knowe from the fyrst daye that I came vnto Asia after what maner I have bene with you at all ceasons

¹⁹ servynge the lorde with all humblenes of mynde and with many teares and temptacions which happened vnto me by the layinges awayte of the Ieues

²⁰ and how I kept backe no thinge that was profitable: but that I have shewed you and taught you openly and at home in youre houses

²¹ witnessinge bothe to the Iewes and also to the Grekes the repentaunce toward God and faith towarde oure Lorde Iesu.

²² And now beholde I goo bounde in the sprete vnto Ierusalem and knowe not what shall come on me there

²³ but that the holy goost witnesseth in every cite sayinge: that bondes and trouble abyde me.

²⁴ But none of tho thinges move me: nether is my lyfe dere vnto my selfe that I myght fulfill my course with ioye and the ministracion which I have receaved of the Lorde Iesu to testify the gospell of the grace of god.

¹⁵ Then we sailed from there and arrived the next day opposite the island of Chios. The following day we touched at the island of Samos, and the day after we came to the city of Miletus.

¹⁶ For Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus, so that he would not spend any time in Asia; for he was hurrying to be in Jerusalem for the day of Pentecost, if it were at all possible for him to do so.

¹⁷ From Miletus he sent men to Ephesus and called to himself the elders of the church.

¹⁸ When they had come to him, he said to them, “You yourselves know, from the first day that I set foot in Asia, how I always spent my time with you.

¹⁹ I kept serving the Lord with all lowliness of mind and with tears, and in sufferings that happened to me because of the plots of the Jews.

²⁰ You know how I did not keep back from declaring to you anything that was useful, and how I taught you in public and from house to house,

²¹ testifying both Jews and Greeks about repentance toward God and of faith in our Lord Jesus.

²² Now look, I am going to Jerusalem, compelled by the Spirit, not knowing what will happen to me there,

²³ except that the Holy Spirit warns to me in every city that chains and sufferings await me.

²⁴ But I do not consider my life is valuable to myself, if only I may finish the race and complete the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

²⁰ how I didn’t shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, teaching you publicly and from house to house,

¹⁷ And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church.

¹⁸ And when they had come to him, he said to them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons,

¹⁹ Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews:

²⁰ And how I kept back nothing that was profitable to you , but have shown you, and have taught you publicly, and from house to house,

²¹ Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance towards God, and faith towards our Lord Jesus Christ.

²² And now behold, I go bound in the spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:

²³ Save that the Holy Spirit testifieth in every city, saying, that bonds and afflictions abide me.

¹⁵ And from thence we shipped in the day pursuing, and we came against Chios, and another day we havened at Samos, and in the day pursuing, we came to Miletus.

¹⁶ And Paul purposed to ship over to Ephesus, lest any tarrying were made to him in Asia; for he hied, if it were possible to him, that he should be in the day of Pentecost at Jerusalem.

¹⁷ From Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the greatest men of birth or the more through birth, either the elder men, of the church.

¹⁸ And when they came to him, and were together, he said to them, Ye know from the first day, in which I came into Asia, how with you by each time I was,

¹⁹ serving to the Lord with all meekness, and mildness, and tears, and temptations, that felled to me of ambushings of Jews;

²⁰ how I withdrew not or nought of profitable things to you, that I told not to you, and taught you openly, and by houses;

²¹ and I witnessed to Jews and to heathen men penance into God, and faith into our Lord Jesus Christ.

²² And now lo! I am bound in spirit, and go into Jerusalem; and I know not what things shall come to me in it,

²³ but that the Holy Ghost by all cities witnesseth to me, and saith, that bonds and tribulations at Jerusalem abide me.

²⁴ But I dread nothing of these, neither I make my life preciouser than myself, so that I end, or fulfill, my course, and the ministry of the word, which I received of the Lord Jesus, to witness the gospel of the grace of God.

¹⁵ And from thence we shipped in the day (pur)suing, and we came against Chios, and another day we havened at Samos, and in the day (pur)suing, we came to Miletus. (And we sailed from there on the following day, and we came opposite Chios, and the next day we havened at Samos, and on the following day, we came to Miletus.)

¹⁶ And Paul purposed to ship over to Ephesus, lest any tarrying were made to him in Asia; for he hied, if it were possible to him, that he should be in the day of Pentecost at Jerusalem, (or for he made haste, so that if it was possible for him, he would be in Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost).

¹⁷ From Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the greatest men of birth or the more through birth, either the elder men, of the church.

¹⁸ And when they came to him, and were together, he said to them, Ye know from the first day, in which I came into Asia, how with you by each time I was,

¹⁹ serving to the Lord with all meekness, and mildness, and tears, and temptations, that felled to me of (the) ambushings of (the) Jews; (serving the Lord with all humility, amid the tears, and tests, that came to me from the ambushing of the Jews;)

²⁰ how I withdrew not or nought of profitable things to you, that I told not to you, and taught you openly, and by houses; (how I kept nothing profitable from you, yea, that I did not tell you, but rather, I taught you openly, or in public, and also in your homes;)

²¹ and I witnessed to Jews and to heathen men penance into God, and faith into our Lord Jesus Christ. (and I testified to Jews and to Gentiles alike, the need for repentance unto God, and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.)

²² And now lo! I am bound in spirit, and go into Jerusalem; and I know not what things shall come to me in it,

²³ no but that the Holy Ghost by all cities witnesseth to me, and saith, that bonds and tribulations at Jerusalem abide me. (except that the Holy Spirit in every city testifieth to me, that bondage, or imprisonment, and troubles await me in Jerusalem.)

²⁴ But I dread nothing of these, neither I make my life preciouser than myself, so that I end, or fulfill, my course, and the ministry of the word, which I received of the Lord Jesus, to witness the gospel of the grace of God. (But I fear none of that, nor do I make my life of any great value, I only desire that I fulfill my course, and the ministry of the word, which I received from the Lord Jesus, yea, to testify to the Gospel, or the Good News, of the grace of God.)

¹⁵ and thence having sailed, on the morrow we came over-against Chios, and the next day we arrived at Samos, and having remained in Trogyllium, on the following day we came to Miletus,

¹⁶ for Paul decided to sail past Ephesus, that there may not be to him a loss of time in Asia, for he hasted, if it were possible for him, on the day of the Pentecost to be at Jerusalem.

¹⁷ And from Miletus, having sent to Ephesus, he called for the elders of the assembly,

¹⁸ and when they were come unto him, he said to them, 'Ye — ye know from the first day in which I came to Asia, how, with you at all times I was;

¹⁹ serving the Lord with all humility, and many tears, and temptations, that befell me in the counsels of the Jews against me;

²⁰ how nothing I did keep back of what things are profitable, not to declare to you, and to teach you publicly, and in every house,

²¹ testifying fully both to Jews and Greeks, toward God reformation, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

²² 'And now, lo, I — bound in the Spirit — go on to Jerusalem, the things that shall befall me in it not knowing,

²³ save that the Holy Spirit in every city doth testify fully, saying, that for me bonds and tribulations remain;

²⁴ but I make account of none of these, neither do I count my life precious to myself, so that I finish my course with joy, and the ministration that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify fully the good news of the grace of God.
