Acts 20:1-6 in English

¹ And after the uproar ceased, Paul having sent for the disciples and exhorted them, took leave of them, and departed to go into Macedonia.

² And when he had gone through those parts, and had given them much exhortation, he came into Greece.

³ And when he had spent three months there, and a plot was laid against him by the Jews as he was about to set sail for Syria, he determined to return through Macedonia.

⁴ And there accompanied him as far as Asia, Sopater of Beroea, the son of Pyrrhus; and of the Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy; and of Asia, Tychicus and Trophimus.

⁵ But these had gone before, and were waiting for us at Troas.

⁶ And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and came unto them to Troas in five days; where we tarried seven days.

¹ After the people at Ephesus had stopped rioting, Paul summoned the believers. He encouraged them to continue to trust in the Lord Jesus. Soon after that, he told them goodbye and left to go to Macedonia province.

² After he arrived there, he visited each town where there were believers, and encouraged them. Then he arrived in Greece province, which is also called Achaia.

³ He stayed there for three months. Then he planned to return to Syria by ship, but he heard that some of the Jews SYN in that area were planning to kill him as he traveled. So he decided instead to go by land, and he traveled again through Macedonia.

⁴ The men who were going to travel with him to Jerusalem were Sopater, who was a son of Pyrrhus, who grew up in Berea town; Aristarchus and Secundus, who were from Thessalonica city; Gaius, who was from Derbe town; Timothy, who was from Galatia province; and Tychicus and Trophimus who were from Asia province.

⁵ Those seven men went ahead of Paul and me, Luke, by ship from Macedonia, so they got to Troas before we did and waited for the two of us there.

⁶ But we two(exc) traveled by land as far as Philippi city. After the Jewish festival when they eat unleavened bread, we got on a ship that was going from the port near Philippi to Troas city. After five days we (exc) arrived at Troas and we met the other men who had traveled there ahead of us. Then we all stayed in Troas for seven days.

¹ And after the noise had come to an end, Paul, having sent for the disciples and given them comfort, went away from them to Macedonia.

² And when he had gone through those parts and given them much teaching, he came into Greece.

³ And when he had been there three months, because the Jews had made a secret design against him when he was about to take ship for Syria, he made a decision to go back through Macedonia.

⁴ And Sopater of Beroea, the son of Pyrrhus, and Aristarchus and Secundus of Thessalonica, and Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy, and Tychicus and Trophimus of Asia, went with him as far as Asia.

⁵ But these had gone before, and were waiting for us at Troas.

⁶ And we went away from Philippi by ship after the days of unleavened bread, and came to them at Troas in five days; and we were there for seven days.

¹ But after the tumult had ceased, Paul having called the disciples to him and embraced them, went away to go to Macedonia.

² And having passed through those parts, and having exhorted them with much discourse, he came to Greece.

³ And having spent three months there, a treacherous plot against him having been set on foot by the Jews, as he was going to sail to Syria, the resolution was adopted of returning through Macedonia.

⁴ And there accompanied him as far as Asia, Sopater son of Pyrrhus, a Berean; and of Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus, and Gaius and Timotheus of Derbe, and of Asia, Tychicus and Trophimus.

⁵ These going before waited for us in Troas;

⁶ but we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and we came to them to Troas in five days, where we spent seven days.

¹ And after the tumult was ceased, Paul calling to him the disciples, and exhorting them, took his leave, and set forward to go into Macedonia.

² And when he had gone over those parts, and had exhorted them with many words, he came into Greece;

³ Where, when he had spent three months, the Jews laid wait for him, as he was about to sail into Syria; so he took a resolution to return through Macedonia.

⁴ And there accompanied him Sopater the son of Pyrrhus, of Berea; and of the Thessalonians, Aristarchus, and Secundus, and Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy; and of Asia, Tychicus and Trophimus.

⁵ These going before, stayed for us at Troas.

⁶ But we sailed from Philippi after the days of the Azymes, and came to them to Troas in five days, where we abode seven days.

¹ Now after the disturbance had ceased, Paul, summoning the disciples and greeting them, went away to go to Macedonia.

² And going through those parts, and encouraging them with many words, he came to Greece

³ and spent three months there. And as a plot by the Jews developed against him, as he was to put to sea for Syria, a decision came about to return through Macedonia.

⁴ And Sopater, a Berean, was accompanying him to Asia—also Aristarchus of the Thessalonians, and Secundus, and Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy, and Tychicus and Trophimus, the Asians.

⁵ These men, having gone ahead, were waiting for us in Troas.

⁶ And we sailed away after the days of Unleavened Bread, from Philippi, and we came to them in Troas within five days, where we spent seven days.

⁴ Now Sopater of Berea, Aristarchus and Secundus of the Thessalonians, Gaius of Derbe, Timothy, and Tychicus and Trophimus of Asia were going to accompany him as far as Asia;

⁵ so having gone on ahead, these men were waiting for us in Troas.

⁶ But it was after the Days of Unleavened Bread that we sailed from Philippi, and in five days we joined them at Troas, where we stayed seven days.

¹ Once the uproar had died down, Paul called the believers together and encouraged them. Then he said goodbye, and left for Macedonia.

² He passed through the area, sharing many words of encouragement with the believers there, and then traveled on to Greece.

³ After he had spent three months there and just as he was about to sail to Syria, it was discovered that the Jews were plotting against him. So he decided to return through Macedonia.

⁴ These were the people who traveled with him: Sopater of Berea, the son of Pyrrhus; Aristarchus and Secundus from Thessalonica; Gaius from Derbe; Timothy; Tychicus and Trophimus from the province of Asia.

⁵ They went on ahead and waited for us at Troas.

⁶ After the Feast of Unleavened Bread we sailed from Philippi, and met them five days later in Troas, where we spent a week.

¹ Nowe after the tumult was appeased, Paul called the disciples vnto him, and embraced them, and departed to goe into Macedonia.

² And when hee had gone through those parts, and had exhorted them with many words, he came into Grecia.

³ And hauing taried there three moneths, because the Iewes layde waite for him, as hee was about to saile into Syria, hee purposed to returne through Macedonia.

⁴ And there accompanied him into Asia, Sopater of Berea, and of them of Thessalonica, Aristarchus, and Secundus, and Gaius of Derbe, and Timotheus, and of them of Asia, Tychicus, and Trophimus.

⁵ These went before, and taried vs at Troas.

⁶ And we sailed forth from Philippi, after the dayes of vnleauened bread, and came vnto them to Troas in fiue dayes, where we abode seuen dayes.

² After going through those districts and speaking many encouraging words to the disciples, he went into Greece, where he stayed three months.

³ He was about to sail to Syria, when he learnt that a plot had been laid against him by several of the Jewish leaders; so he decided to return by way of Macedonia.

⁴ He was accompanied by Sopater the son of Pyrrhus, of Beroea, Aristarchus and Secundus from Thessalonica, Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy, as well as by Tychicus and Trophimus of Roman Asia.

⁵ These people went to Troas and waited for us there;

⁶ while we ourselves sailed from Philippi after the Passover, and joined them five days later at Troas, where we stayed for a week.

² After going through those districts and speaking many encouraging words to the disciples, he went into Greece, where he stayed three months.

³ He was about to sail to Syria, when he learned that a plot had been laid against him by several of the Jewish leaders; so he decided to return by way of Macedonia.

⁴ He was accompanied by Sopater the son of Pyrrhus, of Beroea, Aristarchus and Secundus from Thessalonica, Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy, as well as by Tychicus and Trophimus of Roman Asia.

⁵ These people went to Troas and waited for us there;

⁶ while we ourselves sailed from Philippi after the Passover, and joined them five days later at Troas, where we stayed for a week.

¹ The mob went home, then Paul asked all the Christians to meet together with him. He said to them, “Be strong for Jesus. Keep on believing in him. I’m going to Macedonia country now. Goodbye.” Then Paul got up and went to Macedonia country.

² He visited all the Christians in the towns in Macedonia, and he told them a lot of things to help them be strong for Jesus. Then he kept going and went to Achaia country. Another name for that country is Greece.

³ Paul stayed in Greece for 3 months. Then he got ready to go back to Syria on a ship. But he heard that some Jews were going to try to kill him, so he changed his mind and didn’t go on that ship. Instead, he went by road through Macedonia country again.

⁴ Paul had some friends that went with him, but they didn’t go with him by road. They got on to that ship and went to the town called Troas and waited there. Those men were, – Sopater. His father was called Pyrrhus. He grew up in the town called Berea. – Aristarchus and Secundus, 2 men from Thessalonica. – Gaius, from Derbe. – Timothy, from Galatia country. – Tychicus and Trophimus, 2 men from Asia country. These men waited for Paul in Troas.

⁶ But as for me, Luke, I went with Paul by road to the town called Philippi, and we stayed there. Then the time came for the Jewish people to have their flat damper ceremony, and after that we got on a ship and kept sailing for 5 days. Then we came to the town called Troas, and we met the other men that were waiting for us there. We all stayed in Troas for 7 days.

¹ After the rage was ceased Paul called the disciples vnto him and toke his leave of them and departed for to goo into Macedonia.

² And when he had gone over those parties and geven them large exhortacions he came into Grece

³ and there abode .iii. monethes. And when the Iewes layde wayte for him as he was about to sayle into Syria he purposed to returne thorowe Macedonia.

⁴ Ther acompanied him into Asia Sopater of Berrea and of Thessalonia Aristarcus and Secundus and Gayus of Derba and Timotheus: and out of Asia Tychicus and Trophimos.

⁵ These went before and taryed vs at Troas.

⁶ And we sayled awaye from Philippos after the ester holydayes and came vnto them to Troas in five dayes where we abode seven dayes.

³ After he had spent three months there, a plot was formed against him by the Jews as he was about to sail for Syria, so he decided to return through Macedonia.

⁴ Accompanying him as far as Asia were Sopater son of Pyrrhus from Berea; Aristarchus and Secundus, both from the Thessalonian believers; Gaius of Derbe; Timothy; and Tychicus and Trophimus from Asia.

⁵ But these men had gone before us and were waiting for us at Troas.

⁶ We sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and in five days we came to them in Troas. There we stayed for seven days.

⁴ And Sopater of Pyrri Berea pursued him; of Thessalonians, Aristarchus, and Secundus, and Gaius Derbeus, and Timothy; and Asians, Tychicus and Trophimus.

⁵ These for they went before, abode us at Troas.

⁶ For we shipped after the days of therf loaves from Philippi, and came to them at Troas in five days, where we dwelt seven days.

³ Where when he had been (there) three months, the Jews laid ambush for him, that was to sail into Syria; and he had counsel to turn again by Macedonia. (And when he had been there for three months, the Jews laid ambush for him, as he was about to sail to Syria; and so he made plans to return by way of Macedonia.)

⁴ And Sopater of Pyrri Berea (pur)sued him (or And Sopater the son of Pyrrhus, from Berea, followed him); of (the) Thessalonians, Aristarchus, and Secundus, and Gaius Derbeus, and Timothy; and (the) Asians, Tychicus and Trophimus.

⁵ These (men) for they went before, abode us at Troas. (And because these men went ahead of us, they waited for us at Troas.)

⁶ For we shipped after the days of therf loaves from Philippi (or For we set sail from Philippi after the Feast of Unleavened Bread), and came to them at Troas in five days, where we dwelt seven days.

³ having made also three months' stay — a counsel of the Jews having been against him — being about to set forth to Syria, there came to him a resolution of returning through Macedonia.

⁴ And there were accompanying him unto Asia, Sopater of Berea, and of Thessalonians Aristarchus and Secundus, and Gaius of Derbe, and Timotheus, and of Asiatics Tychicus and Trophimus;

⁵ these, having gone before, did remain for us in Troas,

⁶ and we sailed, after the days of the unleavened food, from Philippi, and came unto them to Troas in five days, where we abode seven days.
