Acts 1:3-6 in English

³ to whom he also showed himself alive after his passion by many proofs, appearing unto them by the space of forty days, and speaking the things concerning the kingdom of God:

⁴ and, being assembled together with them, he charged them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, said he, ye heard from me:

⁵ for John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days hence.

⁶ They therefore, when they were come together, asked him, saying, Lord, dost thou at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?

³ To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

⁴ And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

⁵ For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

⁶ When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?

⁶ They therefore, when they were come together, asked him, saying, Lord, dost thou at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?

³ After he had suffered and died on the cross, he became alive again. As he appeared to them often during the next forty days, the apostles saw him many times. He proved to them in many ways that he was alive again. He talked with them about how God would rule MET the lives of people who accepted him as their king.

⁴ One time while he was with them, he told them, “Do not leave Jerusalem yet. Instead, wait here until my Father sends his Spirit MTY to you, as he promised to do. You have heard me speak to you about that.

⁵ John baptized people in water because they said that they wanted to change their lives, but after a few days LIT God will put the Holy Spirit within you(pl) to truly change your lives.”

⁶ One day when the apostles met together with Jesus, they asked him, “Lord, will you (sg) now become the King MET over us Israelite people like King David, who ruled long ago?” (OR, “Lord, will you (sg) now defeat the Romans and restore the kingdom to us Israelite people?”)

³ To these he also showed himself alive after he suffered, by many proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days and speaking about God’s Kingdom.

⁴ Being assembled together with them, he commanded them, “Don’t depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which you heard from me.

⁵ For John indeed baptized in water, but you will be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

⁶ Therefore, when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, are you now restoring the kingdom to Israel?”

³ And to whom he gave clear and certain signs that he was living, after his death; for he was seen by them for forty days, and gave them teaching about the kingdom of God:

⁴ And when they were all together, with him, he gave them orders not to go away from Jerusalem, but to keep there, waiting till the word of the Father was put into effect, of which, he said, I have given you knowledge:

⁵ For the baptism of John was with water, but you will have baptism with the Holy Spirit, after a little time.

⁶ So, when they were together, they said to him, Lord, will you at this time give back the kingdom to Israel?

³ to whom also he presented himself living, after he had suffered, with many proofs; being seen by them during forty days, and speaking of the things which concern the kingdom of God;

⁴ and, being assembled with them, commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to await the promise of the Father, which said he ye have heard of me.

⁵ For John indeed baptised with water, but ye shall be baptised with the Holy Spirit after now not many days.

⁶ They therefore, being come together, asked him saying, Lord, is it at this time that thou restorest the kingdom to Israel?

³ To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion, by many proofs, for forty days appearing to them, and speaking of the kingdom of God.

⁴ And eating together with them, he commanded them, that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but should wait for the promise of the Father, which you have heard (saith he) by my mouth.

⁵ For John indeed baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost, not many days hence.

⁶ They therefore who were come together, asked him, saying: Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?

³ to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many convincing proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking of the things concerning the kingdom of God.

⁴ And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to await for the promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me;

⁵ for John baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

⁶ Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?”

³ to whom He also showed Himself alive, after His suffering, by many convincing evidences, appearing to them during forty days and speaking of things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.

⁴ And being together He directed them not to go away from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, “which you heard from me;

⁵ John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

⁶ Well then, being together they asked Him saying, “Lord, are you going to restore the kingdom to Israel at this time?”

³ Over the course of forty days after the death he suffered, he showed himself to them, proving that he was alive with convincing evidence. He appeared to them, and told them about the kingdom of God.

⁴ While he was still with them he instructed them, “Do not leave Jerusalem. Wait to receive what the Father promised, just as you heard it from me.

⁵ It's true that John baptized with water, but in just a few days' time you will be baptized by the Holy Spirit.”

⁶ So when the disciples met with Jesus, they asked him, “Lord, is this the time when you will re-establish Israel's kingdom?”

³ To whome also he presented himselfe aliue after that he had suffered, by many infallible tokens, being seene of them by the space of fourtie daies, and speaking of those thinges which appertaine to the kingdome of God.

⁴ And when he had gathered them together, he commanded them, that they should not depart from Hierusalem, but to waite for the promise of the Father, which sayde hee, yee haue heard of me.

⁵ For Iohn in deede baptized with water, but ye shall be baptized with the holy Ghost within these fewe daies.

⁶ When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore the kingdome to Israel?

³ to whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

⁴ and, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

⁵ For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

⁴ And while in assembly with them, he commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for what had been promised by the Father, which said he ye heard from me;

⁵ for John indeed baptized with water, but ye will be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days hence.

⁶ They therefore, having come together, asked him, saying, Lord, art thou at this time about to restore the kingdom to Israel?

³ With abundant proofs, he showed himself to them, still living, after his death; appearing to them from time to time during forty days, and speaking of all that related to the kingdom of God.

⁴ And once, when he had gathered them together, he charged them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait there for the fulfilment of the Father's promise — “that promise,” he said, “of which you have heard me speak;

⁵ for, while John baptised with water, you will be baptised with the Holy Spirit before many days have passed.”

⁶ So, when the apostles had met together, they asked Jesus this question — “Master, is this the time when you intend to re-establish the kingdom for Israel?”

³ With abundant proofs, he showed himself to them, still living, after his death; appearing to them from time to time during forty days, and speaking of all that related to the kingdom of God.

⁴ And once, when he had gathered them together, he charged them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait there for the fulfillment of the Father's promise — “that promise,” he said, “of which you have heard me speak;

⁵ for, while John baptized with water, you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit before many days have passed.”

⁶ So, when the apostles had met together, they asked Jesus this question — “Master, is this the time when you intend to re-establish the kingdom for Israel?”

³ It is like this, Jesus died, and then he came alive again, and his followers saw him a lot of times in the next 40 days. Jesus showed them that he really was alive, so they are really sure that this is true. He talked to them too, and told them a lot of things about God’s family.

⁴ At one time Jesus was eating some food with his followers and he said to them, “Don’t leave this city called Jerusalem yet. I already told you that my Father promised to give you the Holy Spirit. Well, wait here until God does that.

⁵ Do you remember John the Baptiser? He baptised people with water, but God will baptise you with the Holy Spirit very soon.”

⁶ After that some of the close followers of Jesus met together with him. (At that time the Roman government people were the bosses over the Israel people.) The followers asked Jesus, “Sir, are you going to fight the Romans at this time and beat them, and give us back our own country, Israel, with our own boss?”

³ to whom also he shewed him selfe alyve after his passion by many tokens apperynge vnto them fourty dayes and speakynge of the kyngdome of god

⁴ and gaddered them togeder and commaunded the that they shuld not departe from Ierusalem: but to wayte for the promys of the father whereof ye have herde of me.

⁵ For Iohn baptised with water: but ye shalbe baptised with the holy goost and that with in this feawe dayes.

⁶ When they were come togeder they axed of him sayinge: Lorde wilt thou at this tyme restore agayne the kyngdome to Israel?

³ After his suffering, he presented himself alive to them with many convincing proofs. For forty days he appeared to them, and he spoke about the kingdom of God.

⁴ When he was meeting together with them, he commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, about which, he said, “You heard from me

⁵ that John indeed baptized with water, but you shall be baptized in the Holy Spirit in a few days.”

⁶ When they were assembled together they asked him, “Lord, is this the time you will restore the kingdom to Israel?”

³ To these he also showed himself alive after he suffered, by many proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days and speaking about God’s Kingdom.

⁶ Therefore they that were come together, asked him, and said, Lord, whether in this time thou shalt restore the kingdom of Israel? Therefore they that came together, asked him, saying, Lord, if in this time shalt thou restore the kingdom of Israel?

³ to whom he showed himself alive after his passion (or his suffering), by many arguments, or provings, appearing to them (for) forty days, and speaking of the realm of God.

⁴ And he ate with them, and commanded to them, that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but abide the promise of the Father (or but wait for the promise of the Father), which ye heard, he said, by my mouth;

⁵ for John baptized in water, but ye shall be baptized in the Holy Ghost (or but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit), after these few days.

⁶ Therefore they that were come together, asked him, and said, Lord, whether in this time thou shalt restore the kingdom of Israel? Therefore they that came together, asked him, saying, Lord, if in this time shalt thou restore the kingdom of Israel?

³ to whom also he did present himself alive after his suffering, in many certain proofs, through forty days being seen by them, and speaking the things concerning the reign of God.

⁴ And being assembled together with them, he commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, 'Ye did hear of me;

⁵ because John, indeed, baptized with water, and ye shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit — after not many days.'

⁶ They, therefore, indeed, having come together, were questioning him, saying, 'Lord, dost thou at this time restore the reign to Israel?'
