⁶ And when they found them not, they dragged Jason and certain brethren before the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;

⁷ whom Jason hath received: and these all act contrary to the decrees of Cæsar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus.

⁸ And they troubled the multitude and the rulers of the city, when they heard these things.

⁹ And when they had taken security from Jason and the rest, they let them go.

¹⁰ And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Beroea: who when they were come thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.

¹¹ Now these were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, examining the scriptures daily, whether these things were so.

¹² Many of them therefore believed; also of the Greek women of honorable estate, and of men, not a few.

¹³ But when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of God was proclaimed of Paul at Beroea also, they came thither likewise, stirring up and troubling the multitudes.

⁶ And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;

¹² Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few.

¹³ But when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of God was preached of Paul at Berea, they came thither also, and stirred up the people.

⁶ They discovered that Paul and Silas were not there, but they found Jason and grabbed him. They dragged him and some of the other believers to where the city officials/authorities and many other people were gathered. The men who had brought Jason shouted, “Those two men have caused trouble IDM everywhere HYP they have gone. Now they have come to our city,

⁷ and this fellow Jason invited them to stay at his house. All the people of this sect oppose what our Emperor has decreed. They say that another person, whose name is Jesus, is the real king!”

⁸ When the crowd of people that had gathered and the city authorities heard that, they became very angry and excited.

⁹ They wanted to put the believers in jail. But instead, the officials made Jason and the other believers pay a fine and told them that they would give the money back to them if Paul and Silas did not cause any more trouble. Then the authorities let Jason and those other believers go.

¹⁰ So that same night, the believers sent Paul and Silas out of Thessalonica to Berea town. When Paul and Silas arrived there, they went to the Jewish meeting place, on a day when people had gathered there.

¹¹ The Jews in Thessalonica had not been very willing to listen to God's message, but the Jews who lived in Berea were very willing to listen, so they listened very eagerly to the message about Jesus. Every day they read the Scriptures for themselves to find out if what Paul said about the Messiah was true.

¹² As a result, many of the Jewish people believed in Jesus, and also some of the important non-Jewish women and many non-Jewish men believed in him.

¹³ But then the Jews in Thessalonica heard people tell them that Paul was in Berea and that he was preaching the message from God about Jesus. So they went to Berea and told people there that what Paul was teaching was not true. Thus, they caused many of those people to get angry at Paul.

⁷ Whom Jason has taken into his house: and they are acting against the orders of Caesar, saying that there is another king, Jesus.

⁸ And hearing these things the people and the rulers of the town were troubled.

⁹ And having made Jason and the others give an undertaking to keep the peace, they let them go.

¹⁰ And the brothers straight away sent Paul and Silas away by night to Beroea: and they, when they came there, went to the Synagogue of the Jews.

¹¹ Now these were more noble than the Jews of Thessalonica, for they gave serious attention to the word, searching in the holy Writings every day, to see if these things were so.

¹² And a number of them had faith, and no small number of the Greek women of high position and of the men.

¹³ But when the Jews of Thessalonica had news that Paul was preaching the word at Beroea, they came there, troubling the people and working them up.

⁶ and not having found them, dragged Jason and certain brethren before the politarchs, crying out, These men that have set the world in tumult, are come here also,

⁷ whom Jason has received; and these all do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying, that there is another king, Jesus.

⁸ And they troubled the crowd and the politarchs when they heard these things.

⁹ And having taken security of Jason and the rest, they let them go.

¹⁰ But the brethren immediately sent away, in the night, Paul and Silas to Berea; who, being arrived, went away into the synagogue of the Jews.

¹¹ And these were more noble than those in Thessalonica, receiving the word with all readiness of mind, daily searching the scriptures if these things were so.

¹² Therefore many from among them believed, and of Grecian women of the upper classes and men not a few.

¹³ But when the Jews from Thessalonica knew that the word of God was announced in Berea also by Paul, they came there also, stirring up the crowds.

⁶ And not finding them, they drew Jason and certain brethren to the rulers of the city, crying: They that set the city in an uproar, are come hither also;

⁷ Whom Jason hath received; and these all do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, Jesus.

⁸ And they stirred up the people, and the rulers of the city hearing these things,

⁹ And having taken satisfaction of Jason and of the rest, they let them go.

¹⁰ But the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea. Who, when they were come thither, went into the synagogue of the Jews.

¹¹ Now these were more noble than those in Thessalonica, who received the word with all eagerness, daily searching the scriptures, whether these things were so.

¹² And many indeed of them believed, and of honourable women that were Gentiles, and of men not a few.

¹³ And when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of God was also preached by Paul at Berea, they came thither also, stirring up and troubling the multitude.

⁶ But when they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some brothers to the rulers of the city, crying out, “The men who have turned the world upside down have come here, too;

⁷ whom Jason has received; and these all practice contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying there is another king—Jesus.”

⁸ And they troubled the crowd and the rulers of the city when they heard these things.

⁹ And having taken the security bond from Jason and the rest, they released them.

¹⁰ Then the brothers immediately sent Paul and Silas away during the night to Berea. When they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews.

¹¹ Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, who received the word with all readiness, each day examining the Scriptures to see whether these things might be so.

¹² Therefore many of them believed, and not a few of the prominent Greek women and men.

¹³ But when the Jews from Thessalonica found out that the word of God was proclaimed by Paul in Berea, they came there also, agitating the crowds.

⁶ But not finding them they dragged Jason and some other brothers before the city officials vociferating: “These who have upset the whole world have come here too,

⁷ to whom Jason has given lodging. These all act contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying there is another king—Jesus.”

⁸ Well they agitated the crowd and the city officials when they heard these things.

⁹ Then they took a security bond from Jason and the rest and let them go.

¹⁰ Immediately, during the night, the brothers sent both Paul and Silas away to Berea; on arriving they went into the synagogue of the Jews.

¹¹ Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all goodwill, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things might be so.

¹² Therefore many of them believed, and also not a few of the Greeks, prominent women as well as men.

¹³ But when the Jews from Thessalonica learned that the Word of God was also being proclaimed by Paul in Berea, they came too, agitating the crowds.

⁶ When they couldn't find them they dragged Jason and some of the other believers before the town leaders, shouting, “These people are famous for causing trouble, turning the world upside down. Now they've come here,

⁷ and Jason has made them welcome in his house. They all defy Caesar's decrees, committing treason by saying there is another king called Jesus.”

⁸ The people and the leaders of the town were very disturbed when they heard this.

⁹ So they made Jason and the others post bail before they let them go.

¹⁰ The believers had Paul and Silas leave for Berea that very night. When they arrived in Berea they went to the Jewish synagogue.

¹¹ The people there had a better attitude than those in Thessalonica in that they were very quick to accept the word, and every day they examined the Scriptures to make sure what they were told was right.

¹² As a result many of them became believers, along with some highly-placed Greek women and men.

¹³ But when the Jews in Thessalonica heard that Paul was also spreading the word of God in Berea, they went there and caused the same kind of trouble, stirring up the crowds.

⁶ But when they found them not, they drew Iason and certaine brethren vnto the heads of the citie, crying, These are they which haue subuerted the state of the world, and here they are,

⁷ Whom Iason hath receiued, and these all doe against the decrees of Cesar, saying that there is another King, one Iesus.

⁸ Then they troubled the people, and the heads of the citie, when they heard these things.

⁹ Notwithstanding when they had receiued sufficient assurance of Iason and of the other, they let them goe.

¹⁰ And the brethren immediatly sent away Paul and Silas by night vnto Berea, which when they were come thither, entred into ye Synagogue of the Iewes.

¹¹ These were also more noble men then they which were at Thessalonica, which receiued the woorde with all readinesse, and searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

¹² Therefore many of them beleeued, and of honest women, which were Grecians, and men not a fewe.

¹³ But when the Iewes of Thessalonica knewe, that the woord of God was also preached of Paul at Berea, they came thither also, and mooued the people.

⁷ and have been harboured by Jason! They are all defying the decrees of the Emperor. They say that someone else is king — a man called Jesus!”

⁶ They couldn’t find Paul and Silas in that house so they grabbed Jason, and some of the other Christians, and dragged them to the town bosses, and they shouted, “Those 2 men, Paul and Silas, they make trouble everywhere, and now they have come to our town to make trouble here too.

⁷ All this Christian mob are against everything that our big boss in Rome tells us to do. They reckon a man called Jesus is really the biggest boss. And this man here, Jason, he is letting them stay at his house.”

⁸ All the people and the town bosses heard that story, and they got very upset.

⁹ The town bosses made Jason and the other Christians pay some money, and told them, “You can only get your money back if Paul and Silas don’t make any more trouble.” Then the bosses let Jason and those other Christians go.

¹⁰ Then, that same night, the Thessalonica Christians sent Paul and Silas out of their town, to another town called Berea. As soon as they got to that town Paul and Silas went to the Jewish meeting house to talk to the people there.

¹¹ The Jews that lived in Berea were happy to listen to the message about Jesus and they thought about it carefully, not like the Jews in Thessalonica. The Berea people read God’s book every day to find out if Paul’s message was true.

¹² So a lot of those Jewish people believed in Jesus, and some of the important women and men that were not Jews believed in Jesus too.

¹³ But the Jews in Thessalonica heard that Paul was in Berea telling people God’s message about Jesus. Then they got up and went to Berea and made trouble for Paul, and got a lot of other people to make trouble too.

⁶ But when they founde them not they drue Iason and certayne brethren vnto the heedes of the cite cryinge: these that trouble the worlde are come hydder also

⁷ which Iason hath receaved prevely. And these all do contrary to the elders of Cesar affirmynge another kynge one Iesus.

⁸ And they troubled the people and the officers of the cite when they hearde these thinges.

⁹ And when they were sufficiently answered of Iason and of the other they let the goo.

¹⁰ And the brethren immediatly sent awaye Paul and Sylas by nyght vnto Berrea. Which when they were come thyther they entred into the synagoge of the Iewes.

¹¹ These were the noblest of byrthe amonge the of Thessalonia which receaved the worde with all diligence of mynde and searched the scriptures dayly whether those thinges were even so.

¹² And many of the beleved: also of worshipfull weme which were Grekes and of men not afeawe.

¹³ When the Iewes of Thessalonia had knowledge that the worde of God was preached of Paul at Berrea they came there and moved the people.

⁶ But when they did not find them, they dragged Jason and certain other brothers before the officials of the city, crying, “These men who have turned the world upside down have come here also.

⁷ These men whom Jason has welcomed act against the decrees of Caesar; they say that there is another king—Jesus.”

⁸ The crowd and the officials of the city were disturbed when they heard these things.

⁹ But after the officials made Jason and the rest pay money as security, then they let them go.

¹⁰ That night the brothers sent Paul and Silas to Berea. When they arrived there, they went into the synagogue of the Jews.

⁹ And when satisfaction was taken of Jason, and of others, they let Paul and Silas go.

¹⁰ And anon by night, brethren let Paul and Silas go into Berea or brethren sent Paul and Silas into Berea. And when they came thither, they entered into the synagogue of the Jews.

¹¹ But these were the worthier or the nobler of them that be at Thessalonica, which received the word with all desire, each day seeking the scrip-tures, if these things had them so.

¹² And many of them believed, and of heathen women honest or honest heathen women and men not a few.

¹³ But when the Jews in Thessalonica had known, that also at Berea the word of God was preached of Paul, they came thither, moving and disturbing or distroubling the multitude.

⁶ And when they found them not, they drew Jason and some brethren to the princes of the city, and cried, That these it be, that moved the world, and hither they came, (And when they found them not, they dragged Jason and some of the brothers to the leaders of the city, and cried, These it be, who stirred up the world, and now they have come here,)

⁷ whom Jason received. And these all do against the commandments of the emperor or against the commandments of Caesar, and say, that Jesus is another king.

⁸ And they moved the people, and the princes of the city, hearing these things. (And they stirred up the people, and the leaders of the city, when they heard these things.)

⁹ And when satisfaction was taken of Jason, and of others, they let Paul and Silas go.

¹⁰ And anon by night, (the) brethren let Paul and Silas go into Berea, or (the) brethren sent Paul and Silas into Berea, (or And at once in the night, the brothers sent Paul and Silas to Berea). And when they came thither, they entered into the synagogue of the Jews.

¹¹ But these were the worthier or the nobler of them that be at Thessalonica, which received the word with all desire, each day seeking the scriptures, if these things had them so.

¹² And many of them believed, and of heathen women honest and men not a few (or and more than a few honourable heathen men and women). And soothly many of them believed, and of honest heathen women and men not (a) few.

¹³ But when the Jews in Thessalonica had known, that also at Berea the word of God was preached of Paul (or that also at Berea the word of God was preached by Paul), they came thither, moving and disturbing or distroubling the multitude.

⁶ and not having found them, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the city rulers, calling aloud — 'These, having put the world in commotion, are also here present,

⁷ whom Jason hath received; and these all do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying another to be king — Jesus.'

⁸ And they troubled the multitude and the city rulers, hearing these things,

⁹ and having taking security from Jason and the rest, they let them go.

¹⁰ And the brethren immediately, through the night, sent forth both Paul and Silas to Berea, who having come, went to the synagogue of the Jews;

¹¹ and these were more noble than those in Thessalonica, they received the word with all readiness of mind, every day examining the Writings whether those things were so;

¹² many, indeed, therefore, of them did believe, and of the honourable Greek women and men not a few.

¹³ And when the Jews from Thessalonica knew that also in Berea was the word of God declared by Paul, they came thither also, agitating the multitudes;
