²⁷ that they should seek God, if haply they might feel after him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us:

²⁸ for in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain even of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

²⁹ Being then the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and device of man.

²⁷ That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

²⁸ For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

²⁹ Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device.

²⁷ He wanted people to realize that they need him. Then maybe they would seek him and find him. God wants us to seek him, although he is really close LIT to each one of us.

²⁸ As someone has said, ‘ It is only because he enables us that we (inc) live and move and do what we do.’ And, as some of your own poets have said, ‘We (inc) are God's children.’

²⁹ Therefore, because we are God's children and can communicate like God does, we (inc) should not think that he is anything like an image that people have made of gold or silver or stone which cannot communicate. Those images are designed and skillfully made {People design and make those images}, but they are not alive.

²⁷ that they should seek the Lord, if perhaps they might reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.

²⁸ ‘For in him we live, move, and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also his offspring.’

²⁸ For in him we have life and motion and existence; as certain of your verse writers have said, For we are his offspring.

²⁹ If then we are the offspring of God, it is not right for us to have the idea that God is like gold or silver or stone, formed by the art or design of man.

²⁷ that they may seek God; if indeed they might feel after him and find him, although he is not far from each one of us:

²⁸ for in him we live and move and exist; as also some of the poets amongst you have said, For we are also his offspring.

²⁹ Being therefore the offspring of God, we ought not to think that which is divine to be like gold or silver or stone, the graven form of man's art and imagination.

²⁷ That they should seek God, if happily they may feel after him or find him, although he be not far from every one of us:

²⁸ For in him we live, and move, and are; as some also of your own poets said: For we are also his offspring.

²⁷ so that they should seek the Lord, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us;

²⁸ because in Him we live and move and have our being. As also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also his offspring.’

²⁹ Therefore, since we are God's offspring, we ought not to think that the divinity is like gold or silver or stone—something shaped by human skill and imagination.

²⁷ God's purpose was that they should seek him, hoping they would reach out for him and find him—though he isn't far from any one of us.

²⁸ In him we live, move, and exist. Just as one of your own poets wrote, ‘We are his family.’

²⁹ Since we are his family we shouldn't think that God is like gold, or silver, or stone, shaped by human artistry and thinking.

²⁷ That they shoulde seeke the Lord, if so be they might haue groped after him, and founde him though doubtlesse he be not farre from euery one of vs.

²⁸ For in him we liue, and mooue, and haue our being, as also certaine of your owne Poets haue sayd, for we are also his generation.

²⁹ Forasmuch then, as we are the generation of God, we ought not to thinke that ye Godhead is like vnto gold, or siluer, or stone grauen by arte and the inuention of man.

²⁷ He did this so that we can look around for him and try to find him. But really, he is not very far away from any of us.

²⁸ That old story is true that says, ‘He is with us all the time. He is the one that makes us alive, so that we can walk about and do things.’ And even one of your own Athens people wrote this about him, ‘We are his kids.’

²⁹ So, if it is true that we are God’s kids, we shouldn’t just dream up something and say, ‘My god looks like this,’ and then make a statue like that from gold or silver or stone. Nobody can make any kind of statue that is anything like God.

²⁷ that they shuld seke God yf they myght fele and fynde him though he be not farre from every one of vs.

²⁸ For in him we lyve move and have oure beynge as certayne of youre awne Poetes sayde. For we are also his generacion.

²⁹ For as moche then as we are the generacion of God we ought not to thynke that the godhed is lyke vnto golde silver or stone graven by crafte and ymaginacion of man.

²⁷ so that they should search for God and perhaps they may feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is not far from each one of us.

²⁸ For in him we live and move and have our being, just as one of your own poets has said, 'For we also are his offspring.'

²⁷ to seek the Lord, if perhaps they did feel after Him and find, — though, indeed, He is not far from each one of us,

²⁸ for in Him we live, and move, and are; as also certain of your poets have said: For of Him also we are offspring.
