² and Paul, as his custom was, went in unto them, and for three sabbath days reasoned with them from the scriptures,

³ opening and alleging that it behooved the Christ to suffer, and to rise again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom, said he, I proclaim unto you, is the Christ.

⁴ And some of them were persuaded, and consorted with Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few.

² And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,

³ Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ.

⁴ And some of them believed, and consorted with Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few.

² ◄On the Sabbath/On the Jewish rest day► Paul went into the meeting house, as he usually did. For three weeks he went there on each Jewish day of rest. Referring to the Scriptures about the Messiah, he spoke to the people who were there.

³ He explained and showed that the prophets wrote that the Messiah needed to die and ◄to become alive again/to be raised from the dead afterwards►. He told them: “This man Jesus, whom I am telling you about, is our Messiah. He died and became alive again, just like the prophets predicted.”

⁴ Some of the Jews there were persuaded by {believed} what Paul had said and began to associate with Paul and Silas. There were also many non-Jewish people there who worshipped God and many important women who also believed the message about Jesus, and they began to associate with Paul and Silas.

³ explaining and demonstrating that the Christ had to suffer and rise again from the dead, and saying, “This Jesus, whom I proclaim to you, is the Christ.”

³ Saying to them clearly and openly that Christ had to be put to death and come back to life again; and that this Jesus, whom, he said, I am preaching to you, is the Christ.

⁴ And some of them had faith, and were joined to Paul and Silas; and a number of the God-fearing Greeks, and some of the chief women.

² And according to Paul's custom he went in among them, and on three sabbaths reasoned with them from the scriptures,

³ opening and laying down that the Christ must have suffered and risen up from among the dead, and that this is the Christ, Jesus whom I announce to you.

⁴ And some of them believed, and joined themselves to Paul and Silas, and of the Greeks who worshipped, a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few.

² And Paul, according to his custom, went in unto them; and for three sabbath days he reasoned with them out of the scriptures:

³ Declaring and insinuating that the Christ was to suffer, and to rise again from the dead; and that this is Jesus Christ, whom I preach to you.

⁴ And some of them believed, and were associated to Paul and Silas; and of those that served God, and of the Gentiles a great multitude, and of noble women not a few.

² And according to Paul's custom, he went in to them, and for three Sabbaths he reasoned with them from the Scriptures,

³ interpreting and pointing out that it was necessary for the Christ to suffer, and to arise from the dead, and saying that “This Jesus, whom I preach to you, is the Christ.”

⁴ And some of them were persuaded and were joined with Paul and Silas, both of the devout Greeks, a great multitude, and not a few of the chief women.

² So Paul, as was his custom, went in to them and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures,

³ explaining and demonstrating that the Messiah had to suffer and rise again from the dead, and that “this Jesus whom I proclaim to you is the Messiah.”

⁴ Some of them were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, as did a large number of devout Greeks and not a few of the prominent women.

² As usual, Paul went into the synagogue and over the course of three Sabbaths he debated with them using the Scriptures.

³ He explained what the Scriptures meant, proving that the Messiah had to die and rise from the dead. “This Jesus I'm telling you about—he is the Messiah,” he told them.

⁴ Some of them were convinced and joined Paul and Silas, along with many Greek-speaking worshipers and some leading women of the town.

² And Paul, as his maner was, went in vnto them, and three Sabbath daies disputed with them by the Scriptures,

³ Opening, and alleadging that Christ must haue suffered, and risen againe from the dead: and this is Iesus Christ, whom, said he, I preach to you.

⁴ And some of them beleeued, and ioyned in companie with Paul and Silas: also of the Grecians that feared God a great multitude, and of the chiefe women not a fewe.

² and Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,

³ opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ.

⁴ And some of them believed, and consorted with Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few.

³ He laid before them and explained that the Christ must undergo suffering and rise from the dead; and “It is this man,” he declared, “who is the Christ — this Jesus about whom I am telling you.”

⁴ Some of the people were convinced, and threw in their lot with Paul and Silas, as did also a large body of Greeks who were accustomed to join in the Jewish services, and a great number of leading women.

² and, following his usual custom, Paul joined them, and for three Sabbaths addressed them, drawing his arguments from the scriptures.

³ He laid before them and explained that the Christ must undergo suffering and rise from the dead; and “It is this man,” he declared, “who is the Christ — this Jesus about whom I am telling you.”

⁴ Some of the people were convinced, and threw in their lot with Paul and Silas, as did also a large body of Greeks who were accustomed to join in the Jewish services, and a great number of leading women.

² and Paul went to that meeting house every Saturday. He used to always do that. On each of the next 3 Saturdays he talked to the people there and showed them from God’s book

³ that Jesus is the one that God sent to save people. Paul told them all about Jesus and showed them everything that God got his men to write in his book. Those words said that God will send a man to save us, but that man has to die, and then come alive again. He said, “I’m telling you about Jesus. He is the one God sent to save us.”

⁴ A lot of people there believed that message about Jesus, and they joined Paul and Silas. Some of those people were Jews, and some were not Jews but they respected God, and a lot of them were important women.

² And Paul as his maner was went in vnto them and thre saboth doyes declared oute of the scripture vnto them

³ openynge and allegynge that Christ must nedes have suffred and rysen agayne from deeth and that this Iesus was Christ whom (sayde he) I preache to you.

⁴ And some of them beleved and came and companyed with Paul and Sylas: also of the honourable Grekes a greate multitude and of the chefe wemen not a feawe.

² Paul, as his custom was, went to them, and for three Sabbath days reasoned with them from the scriptures.

³ He was opening the scriptures and explaining that it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise again from the dead. He said, “This Jesus whom I proclaim to you is the Christ.”

(and expounded upon them, and showed that it behooved the Messiah to suffer, and to rise again from the dead, and that this is Jesus Christ, about whom I tell you.)

⁴ And some of them believed, and were joined to Paul and to Silas; and a great multitude of heathen men worshipped God, and noble women not a few.

² and according to the custom of Paul, he went in unto them, and for three sabbaths he was reasoning with them from the Writings,

³ opening and alleging, 'That the Christ it behoved to suffer, and to rise again out of the dead, and that this is the Christ — Jesus whom I proclaim to you.'

⁴ And certain of them did believe, and attached themselves to Paul and to Silas, also of the worshipping Greeks a great multitude, of the principal women also not a few.
