Acts 12:3-5 in English

³ And when he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. And those were the days of unleavened bread.

⁴ And when he had taken him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to guard him; intending after the Passover to bring him forth to the people.

⁵ Peter therefore was kept in the prison: but prayer was made earnestly of the church unto God for him.

³ And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)

⁴ And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.

⁵ Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

³ And when he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. And those were the days of unleavened bread.

⁴ And when he had taken him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to guard him; intending after the Passover to bring him forth to the people.

⁵ Peter therefore was kept in the prison: but prayer was made earnestly of the church unto God for him.

³ When Herod realized that he had pleased the leaders of the Jewish people by doing that, he commanded soldiers to arrest Peter in order to kill him, too. This happened during the festival when the Jewish people ate bread that did not have yeast.

⁴ After they seized Peter, they put him in prison. They arranged for four groups of soldiers to guard Peter. Each group had four soldiers. Every three hours a different group began to guard him while the others rested. Herod wanted to bring Peter out of prison and judge him in front of the Jewish people after the Passover Festival was finished. He then planned to command soldiers to execute Peter.

⁵ So for several days Peter was kept {they kept Peter} in prison. But the other believers in the congregation at Jerusalem were praying earnestly to God that he would help Peter.

³ When he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. This was during the days of unleavened bread.

⁴ When he had arrested him, he put him in prison and delivered him to four squads of four soldiers each to guard him, intending to bring him out to the people after the Passover.

⁴ And having taken him, he put him in prison, with four bands of armed men to keep watch over him; his purpose being to take him out to the people after the Passover.

⁵ So Peter was kept in prison: but the church made strong prayer to God for him.

³ And seeing that it was pleasing to the Jews, he went on to take Peter also: (and they were the days of unleavened bread:)

⁴ whom having seized he put in prison, having delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep, purposing after the passover to bring him out to the people.

⁵ Peter therefore was kept in the prison; but unceasing prayer was made by the assembly to God concerning him.

³ And seeing that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to take up Peter also. Now it was in the days of the Azymes.

⁴ And when he had apprehended him, he cast him into prison, delivering him to four files of soldiers to be kept, intending, after the pasch, to bring him forth to the people.

⁵ Peter therefore was kept in prison. But prayer was made without ceasing by the church unto God for him.

³ And seeing that it was pleasing to the Jews, he proceeded further to arrest Peter also (these were during the days of Unleavened Bread),

⁴ whom also seizing, he put him in prison, and handed him over to four four-man squads of soldiers to guard him, planning after the Passover to bring him again to the people.

⁵ Therefore Peter was kept in prison; but earnest prayer was being made by the church to God on his behalf.

³ When he saw that it was pleasing to the Jews, he proceeded to arrest Peter as well (it was during the days of the unleavened loaves)

⁴ —upon seizing him he put him in prison, turning him over to sixteen soldiers to guard him, intending to bring him out to the people after the Passover.

⁵ Well Peter was being held in the prison all right, but the congregation was making earnest prayer to God on his behalf.

³ When he saw that the Jews were pleased by this, he had Peter arrested too. (This was during the Feast of Unleavened Bread.)

⁴ After having Peter arrested, he threw him in prison, with four squads of four soldiers each to guard him. He planned to have Peter brought out for a public trial after the Passover.

⁵ While Peter was kept in prison the church prayed earnestly to God for him.

³ And when he sawe that it pleased the Iewes, he proceeded further, to take Peter also (then were the dayes of vnleauened bread.)

⁴ And when he had caught him, he put him in prison, and deliuered him to foure quaternions of souldiers to be kept, intending after the Passeouer to bring him foorth to the people.

⁵ So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer was made of ye Church vnto God for him.

³ And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)

⁵ So Peter was kept in prison, but meanwhile the prayers of the church were being earnestly offered to God on his behalf.

³ and, when he saw that the Jews were pleased with this, he proceeded to arrest Peter also. (This was during the Festival of the unleavened bread.)

⁴ After seizing Peter, Herod put him in prison, and entrusted him to the keeping of four Guards of four soldiers each, intending, after the Passover, to bring him up before the people.

⁵ So Peter was kept in prison, but meanwhile the prayers of the church were being earnestly offered to God on his behalf.

³ The Jewish leaders told Herod that they were happy for him to kill James, so Herod told his soldiers to grab Peter too. They grabbed him at the time for the Jewish people to have their ceremony where they ate flat damper.

⁴ Herod thought, “I will wait until the end of that ceremony, then I will judge Peter and kill him.” So they put Peter in jail, and Herod told 16 soldiers to guard him there. Those soldiers were in 4 little mobs, with 4 soldiers in each little mob.

⁵ Peter stayed there in jail, and the other Christians prayed for him a lot.

³ and because he sawe that it pleased the Iewes he proceded forther and toke Peter also. Then were the dayes of swete breed.

⁴ And when he had caught him he put him in preson and delyvered him to .iiii. quaternions of soudiers to be kepte entendynge after ester to brynge him forth to the people.

⁵ Then was Peter kepte in preson. But prayer was made with out ceasynge of the congregacion vnto God for him.

³ After he saw that this pleased the Jews, he proceeded to arrest Peter also. That was during the days of unleavened bread.

⁴ After arresting him, he put him in prison, assigning him over to four squads of soldiers to guard him; he was intending to bring him to the people after the Passover.

⁵ So Peter was kept in the prison, but prayer was made earnestly to God for him by those in the church.

³ When he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. This was during the days of unleavened bread.

³ And he saw that it pleased to the Jews, and cast to take also Peter; and the days of therf loaves were.

⁴ And when he had caught Peter, he sent him into prison; and betook him to four quaternions of knights, to keep him, and would after pask bring him forth to the people.

⁵ And Peter was kept in prison; but prayer was made of the church without ceasing to God for him.

³ And he saw that it pleased to the Jews, and cast to take also Peter; and the days of therf loaves were. (And he saw that it pleased the Jews, and sent forth men to take hold of Peter; and it was during the Days, or the Feast, of Unleavened Bread.)

⁴ And when he had caught Peter, he sent him into prison; and betook him to four quaternions of knights, to keep him, and would after pask bring him forth to the people. (And when he had caught Peter, he put him into prison; and gave him over to four squads of four soldiers each, to guard him, and intended after Passover to bring him before the people.)

⁵ And Peter was kept in prison; but prayer was made of the church without ceasing to God for him (or but prayer without ceasing was made by the church to God for him).

³ and having seen that it is pleasing to the Jews, he added to lay hold of Peter also — and they were the days of the unleavened food —

⁴ whom also having seized, he did put in prison, having delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to guard him, intending after the passover to bring him forth to the people.

⁵ Peter, therefore, indeed, was kept in the prison, and fervent prayer was being made by the assembly unto God for him,
