¹⁴ And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for joy, but ran in, and told that Peter stood before the gate.

¹⁵ And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she confidently affirmed that it was even so. And they said, It is his angel.

¹⁶ But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened, they saw him, and were amazed.

¹⁷ But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him forth out of the prison. And he said, Tell these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went to another place.

¹⁸ Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers, what was become of Peter.

¹⁴ And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.

¹⁵ And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.

¹⁸ Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers, what was become of Peter.

¹⁴ When Peter answered her, she recognized his voice, but she was so happy and excited that she did not open the door! Instead, she ran back into the house. She excitedly announced to the other believers that Peter was standing outside the door.

¹⁵ But one of them said to her, “You (sg) are crazy!” But she continued saying that it was really true. Then they repeatedly said, “ No, it cannot be Peter. It is probably the angel who was guarding him who has come (OR, It is the angel who has guarded/protected him, and he has come to tell us that Peter has died.)”

¹⁶ But Peter continued knocking on the door. So when someone finally opened the door, they saw that it was Peter, and they were completely amazed!

¹⁷ Peter motioned with his hand for them to be quiet. Then he told them exactly how the Lord God had led him out of the prison. He also said, “Tell James, the leader of our congregation, and our other fellow believers what has happened.” Then Peter left and went away to another town.

¹⁸ The next morning the soldiers who had been guarding Peter became terribly distressed, because they did not know what had happened to him.

¹⁴ When she recognized Peter’s voice, she didn’t open the gate for joy, but ran in and reported that Peter was standing in front of the gate.

¹⁵ They said to her, “You are crazy!” But she insisted that it was so. They said, “It is his angel.”

¹⁶ But Peter continued knocking. When they had opened, they saw him and were amazed.

¹⁷ But he, beckoning to them with his hand to be silent, declared to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. He said, “Tell these things to James and to the brothers.” Then he departed and went to another place.

¹⁸ Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers about what had become of Peter.

¹⁴ And hearing the voice of Peter, in her joy she went running, without opening the door, to say that Peter was outside.

¹⁵ And they said to her, You are off your head. But still she said, with decision, that it was so. And they said, It is his angel.

¹⁶ But Peter went on giving blows on the door: and when it was open and they saw him, they were full of wonder.

¹⁷ But he made a sign to them with his hand to be quiet, and gave them an account of how the Lord had taken him out of prison. And he said, Give the news to James and the brothers. And then he went away.

¹⁸ Now when it was day, the armed men were greatly troubled about what had become of Peter.

¹⁴ and having recognised the voice of Peter, through joy did not open the entry, but running in, reported that Peter was standing before the entry.

¹⁵ And they said to her, Thou art mad. But she maintained that it was so. And they said, It is his angel.

¹⁶ But Peter continued knocking: and having opened, they saw him and were astonished.

¹⁷ And having made a sign to them with his hand to be silent, he related to them how the Lord had brought him out of prison; and he said, Report these things to James and to the brethren. And he went out and went to another place.

¹⁸ And when it was day there was no small disturbance among the soldiers, what then was become of Peter.

¹⁴ And as soon as she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for joy, but running in she told that Peter stood before the gate.

¹⁷ And motioning to them with his hand to be silent, he related to them how the Lord had led him out of the prison. And he said, “Tell these things to James and to the brothers.” And going out, he went to another place.

¹⁸ Now when day came, there was no small disturbance among the soldiers, as to what had become of Peter.

¹⁴ Upon recognizing Peter's voice, she was so glad she did not open the gate, but ran in and announced that Peter was standing before the gate!

¹⁵ But they said to her, “You're crazy!” but she kept insisting that it was so. So they said, “It is his angel.”

¹⁶ But Peter kept on knocking; so when they opened the door and saw him, they were astounded.

¹⁷ Motioning to them with his hand to be silent, he related to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. Then he said, “Tell these things to James and the brothers.” And going out he went off to a different place.

¹⁸ Now as soon as it was day, there was no small commotion among the soldiers about what had become of Peter!

¹⁴ But recognizing Peter's voice, in her excitement she didn't open the door. Instead she ran back inside shouting, “Peter's at the door!”

¹⁵ “You're mad!” they told her. But she kept on insisting it was true. So they said, “It must be his angel.”

¹⁶ Peter continued knocking. When they did eventually open the door, they saw it was him, and were totally shocked.

¹⁷ Peter held up his hand for them to be quiet, and then explained to them how the Lord had led him out of the prison. “Let James and the brothers know about this,” he told them, and then left to go somewhere else.

¹⁸ When daylight came the soldiers were totally confused as to what had happened to Peter.

¹⁴ But when she knew Peters voyce, she opened not the entrie doore for gladnesse, but ranne in, and tolde howe Peter stood before the entrie.

¹⁵ But they said vnto her, Thou art mad. Yet she affirmed it constantly, that it was so. Then said they, It is his Angel.

¹⁶ But Peter continued knocking, and when they had opened it, and sawe him, they were astonied.

¹⁷ And he beckened vnto them with the hand, to hold their peace, and told them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he saide, Goe shewe these things vnto Iames and to the brethren: and he departed and went into an other place.

¹⁸ Nowe assoone as it was day, there was no small trouble among the souldiers, what was become of Peter.

¹⁴ And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.

¹⁵ And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.

¹⁵ “You are mad!” they exclaimed. But, when she persisted that it was so, they said, “It must be his spirit!”

¹⁶ Meanwhile Peter went on knocking, and, when they opened the gate and saw him, they were amazed.

¹⁷ Peter signed to them with his hand to be silent, and then told them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison, adding, “Tell James and the others all this.” Then he left the house, and went away to another place.

¹⁸ In the morning there was a great stir amongst the soldiers — what could have become of Peter!

¹⁴ She recognized Peter's voice, but in her joy left the gate unopened, and ran in, and told them that Peter was standing outside.

¹⁵ “You are mad!” they exclaimed. But, when she persisted that it was so, they said, “It must be his spirit!”

¹⁶ Meanwhile Peter went on knocking, and, when they opened the gate and saw him, they were amazed.

¹⁷ Peter signed to them with his hand to be silent, and then told them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison, adding, “Tell James and the others all this.” Then he left the house, and went away to another place.

¹⁸ In the morning there was a great stir among the soldiers — what could have become of Peter!

¹⁴ but she didn’t open it. She heard his voice and knew it was Peter, and she was so happy she just ran back into the house and told all the people, “Peter is here, standing outside the door.”

¹⁵ Those people said, “You are mad.” But she kept telling them that Peter really was there. Then they said, “It can’t be him. It has to be the angel that looks after him.”

¹⁶ But Peter kept on knocking on that door. After a little while they stopped arguing and opened the door and saw him, and they were really surprised.

¹⁷ Peter held up his hand to get them to be quiet, then he told them the story, about the way God got him out of that jail. Then he said, “Tell this story to the other Christians, and make sure you tell it to that other man called James too.” Then he left them and went to another place.

¹⁸ After the sun came up the soldiers were really upset and worried. They were all saying things like, “Hey, what happened to Peter? Who let him get away?”

¹⁴ And when she knew Peters voyce she opened not the entrey for gladnes but ran in and told how Peter stode before the entrey.

¹⁵ And they sayde vnto her: thou arte mad. And she bare them doune that it was even so. Then sayde they: it is his angell.

¹⁶ Peter contynued knockinge. When they had opened the dore and sawe him they were astonyed.

¹⁷ And he beckened vnto them with the honde to holde their peace and tolde them by what meanes the Lorde had brought him oute of the preson. And sayde: goo shew these thinges vnto Iames and to the brethren. And he departed and went into a nother place.

¹⁸ Assone as it was daye ther was no lyttell a doo amonge the soudyers what was becum of Peter.

¹⁴ When she recognized Peter's voice, out of joy she failed to open the door; instead, she came running into the room; she reported that Peter was standing at the door.

¹⁵ So they said to her, “You are insane.” But she insisted that it was so. They said, “It is his angel.”

¹⁶ But Peter continued knocking, and when they had opened the door, they saw him and were amazed.

¹⁷ Peter motioned to them with his hand to be silent, and he told them how the Lord had brought him out of prison. He said, “Report these things to James and the brothers.” Then he left and went to another place.

¹⁶ But Peter abode still, and knocked. And when they had opened the door, they saw him, and wondered.

¹⁷ And he beckoned to them with his hand to be still, and told how the Lord had led him out of the prison. And he said, Tell ye to James and to the brethren these things. And he went out, and went into another place.

¹⁸ And when the day was come, there was not little troubling among the knights, what was done of Peter.

¹⁴ And when she knew the voice of Peter, for joy she opened not the gate, but ran in, and told (them), that Peter stood at the gate.

¹⁵ And they said to her, Thou maddest or Thou art mad. But she affirmed, that it was so. And they said, It is his angel.

¹⁶ But Peter abode still, and knocked. And when they had opened the door, they saw him, and wondered.

¹⁷ And he beckoned to them with his hand to be still, and told how the Lord had led him out of the prison. And he said, Tell ye to James and to the brethren these things. And he went out, and went into another place (or and went to another place).

¹⁸ And when the day was come, there was not little troubling among the knights, what was done of Peter. (And when the daylight had come, there was a great deal of concern among the soldiers, about what had become of Peter.)

¹⁴ and having known the voice of Peter, from the joy she did not open the porch, but having run in, told of the standing of Peter before the porch,

¹⁵ and they said unto her, 'Thou art mad;' and she was confidently affirming it to be so, and they said, 'It is his messenger;'

¹⁶ and Peter was continuing knocking, and having opened, they saw him, and were astonished,

¹⁷ and having beckoned to them with the hand to be silent, he declared to them how the Lord brought him out of the prison, and he said, 'Declare to James and to the brethren these things;' and having gone forth, he went on to another place.

¹⁸ And day having come, there was not a little stir among the soldiers what then was become of Peter,
