²⁵ And he went forth to Tarsus to seek for Saul;

²⁶ and when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that even for a whole year they were gathered together with the church, and taught much people; and that the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

²⁷ Now in these days there came down prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.

²⁸ And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be a great famine over all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius.

²⁹ And the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren that dwelt in Judæa:

²⁵ Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul:

²⁶ And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

²⁷ And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.

²⁸ And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Cæsar.

²⁹ Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judæa:

²⁵ And he went forth to Tarsus to seek for Saul:

²⁵ Then Barnabas went to Tarsus in Cilicia province to try to find Saul.

²⁶ After he found him, Barnabas brought him back to Antioch to help teach the believers. So during a whole year Barnabas and Saul met regularly with the congregation there and taught many of them about Jesus. It was at Antioch that the believers were first called Christians { that people first called the believers Christians}.

²⁷ During the time that Barnabas and Saul were at Antioch, some believers who were prophets arrived there from Jerusalem.

²⁸ One of them, whose name was Agabus, stood up in order to speak. God's Spirit enabled him to prophesy ◄that there would soon be a famine in many countries/that people in many countries HYP would soon suffer because they would not have enough food to eat►. (That famine happened when Claudius was the Roman Emperor.)

²⁹ When the believers there heard what Agabus said, they decided that they would send money to help the believers who lived in Judea. Each of them decided to give as much money as he was able to give.

²⁵ Barnabas went out to Tarsus to look for Saul.

²⁸ And one of them, named Agabus, said publicly through the Spirit that there would be serious need of food all over the earth: which came about in the time of Claudius.

²⁹ And the disciples, everyone as he was able, made a decision to send help to the brothers living in Judaea:

²⁵ And he went away to Tarsus to seek out Saul.

²⁶ And having found him, he brought him to Antioch. And so it was with them that for a whole year they were gathered together in the assembly and taught a large crowd: and the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.

²⁷ Now in these days prophets went down from Jerusalem to Antioch;

²⁸ and one from among them, by name Agabus, rose up and signified by the Spirit that there was going to be a great famine over all the inhabited earth, which also came to pass under Claudius.

²⁹ And they determined, according as any one of the disciples was well off, each of them to send to the brethren who dwelt in Judaea, to minister to them;

²⁵ And Barnabas went to Tarsus to seek Saul: whom, when he had found, he brought to Antioch.

²⁶ And they conversed there in the church a whole year; and they taught a great multitude, so that at Antioch the disciples were first named Christians.

²⁷ And in these days there came prophets from Jerusalem to Antioch:

²⁸ And one of them named Agabus, rising up, signified by the Spirit, that there should be a great famine over the whole world, which came to pass under Claudius.

²⁹ And the disciples, every man according to his ability, purposed to send relief to the brethren who dwelt in Judea:

²⁶ and upon finding him he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they met with the congregation and taught a great many people. The disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.

²⁷ Now in these days, prophets came from Jerusalem to Antioch.

²⁸ One of them, named Agabus, stood up and indicated by the Spirit that a great famine was about to come upon the whole world (this indeed happened while Claudius was Caesar).

²⁹ Then the disciples, to the extent that any had plenty, each of them determined to send relief to the brothers who lived in Judea;

²⁵ Then Barnabas went on to Tarsus to look for Saul,

²⁶ and when he found him, he took Saul back with him to Antioch. Over the course of the next year they worked together with the church, teaching the message to crowds of people. It was in Antioch that the believers were first called “Christians.”

²⁷ It was during this time that some prophets went from Jerusalem to Antioch.

²⁸ One of them called Agabus stood up and gave a prophetic warning by the Spirit that there would be a terrible famine that would affect the known world. (This came true in the reign of Emperor Claudius.)

²⁹ The believers decided to send funds to help the brothers that lived in Judea, with everyone giving according to what they had.

²⁵ Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus to seeke Saul:

²⁶ And when he had founde him, he brought him vnto Antiochia: and it came to passe that a whole yere they were conuersant with ye Church, and taught much people, in so much that the disciples were first called Christians in Antiochia.

²⁷ In those dayes also came Prophets from Hierusalem vnto Antiochia.

²⁸ And there stoode vp one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit, that there should be great famine throughout all the world, which also came to passe vnder Claudius Cesar.

²⁹ Then the disciples, euery man according to his ability, purposed to sende succour vnto the brethren which dwelt in Iudea.

²⁵ After that Barnabas left Antioch and went to the town called Tarsus to look for Saul.

²⁶ He found Saul there and took him back to Antioch. They stayed there for a whole year, and they met with the Christians in the church there, and they kept teaching them. A lot of people there followed Jesus, and it was in Antioch that other people first used the name Christians for the people that followed Jesus Christ.

²⁷ At that time some Christian men came from Jerusalem to Antioch. They had the power to tell God’s messages.

²⁸ One of those men was called Agabus. He stood up in a meeting, and the Holy Spirit told him a message to tell everybody. He said, “There is going to be a very hard time for all the people in the world. There will be no food to eat anywhere.” (And that really happened when the big Roman boss was Claudius.)

²⁹ The Christians in Antioch heard Agabus tell that message, and they remembered the Christians in Judea. They knew the Judea people will have a very hard time if there was not much food, and the Antioch Christians wanted to help them. So they all put money into a bag. Each of them gave as much money as they could. Then they gave it to Barnabas and Saul, and those 2 men took it to the Christian leaders in Jerusalem, in Judea country.

²⁵ Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus for to seke Saul.

²⁶ And when he had founde him he brought him vnto Antioche. And it chaunsed that a whole yere they had their conversacion with the congregacion there and taught moche people: in so moche that the disciples of Antioche were the fyrst that were called Christen.

²⁷ In those dayes came Prophetes from Ierusalem vnto Antioche.

²⁸ And ther stode vp one of them named Agabus and signified by the sprete that ther shuld be great derth throughoute all the worlde which came to passe in the Emproure Claudius dayes.

²⁹ Then the disciples every man accordinge to his abilite purposed to sende socoure vnto the brethren which dwelt in Iewry.

²⁸ And one of them rose up, Agabus by name, and signified by the Spirit a great hunger to coming or a great hunger to come in all the world, which hunger was made under Claudius (or and this famine occurred during the reign of Claudius).

²⁹ And all the disciples purposed, after that (that) each had, for to send (or to contribute) into (the) ministry to (the) brethren that dwelled in Judea.

²⁵ And Barnabas went forth to Tarsus, to seek for Saul,

²⁶ and having found him, he brought him to Antioch, and it came to pass that they a whole year did assemble together in the assembly, and taught a great multitude, the disciples also were divinely called first in Antioch Christians.

²⁷ And in those days there came from Jerusalem prophets to Antioch,

²⁸ and one of them, by name Agabus, having stood up, did signify through the Spirit a great dearth is about to be throughout all the world — which also came to pass in the time of Claudius Caesar —

²⁹ and the disciples, according as any one was prospering, determined each of them to send for ministration to the brethren dwelling in Judea,
