² a devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, who gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God always.

³ He saw in a vision openly, as it were about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of God coming in unto him, and saying to him, Cornelius.

⁴ And he, fastening his eyes upon him, and being affrighted, said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are gone up for a memorial before God.

⁵ And now send men to Joppa, and fetch one Simon, who is surnamed Peter:

⁶ he lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side.

⁷ And when the angel that spake unto him was departed, he called two of his household-servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;

⁸ and having rehearsed all things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.

² A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

³ He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.

⁴ And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

⁵ And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter:

⁶ He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.

⁷ And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;

⁸ And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.

² He always tried to do what would please God; he and his entire household MTY were non-Jews who habitually worshipped God. He sometimes gave money to help poor Jewish people, and he prayed to God regularly.

³ One day at about three o'clock in the afternoon Cornelius saw a vision. He clearly saw an angel whom God had sent. The angel came into his room and said to him, “Cornelius!”

⁴ Cornelius stared at the angel and became terrified. Then he asked fearfully, “Sir, what do you (sg) want?” The angel answered him, “You (sg) have pleased God because you have been praying regularly to him and you often give money to help poor people. Those things have been like a sacrifice to God.

⁵ So, now command some men to go to Joppa and tell them to bring back a man named Simon whose other name is Peter.

⁶ He is staying with a man, also named Simon, who makes leather. His house is near the ocean.”

⁷ When the angel who spoke to Cornelius had gone, Cornelius summoned two of his household servants and a soldier who served him, one who also worshipped God.

⁸ He explained to them everything that the angel had said. Then he told them to go to Joppa to ask Peter to come to Caesarea.

² a devout man, and one who feared God with all his house, who gave gifts for the needy generously to the people, and always prayed to God.

³ At about the ninth hour of the day, he clearly saw in a vision an angel of God coming to him and saying to him, “Cornelius!”

⁴ He, fastening his eyes on him and being frightened, said, “What is it, Lord?” He said to him, “Your prayers and your gifts to the needy have gone up for a memorial before God.

⁵ Now send men to Joppa, and get Simon, who is also called Peter.

³ He saw in a vision, clearly, at about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of the Lord coming to him and saying to him, Cornelius!

⁴ And he, looking on him in fear, said, What is it, Lord? And he said to him, Your prayers and your offerings have come up to God, and he has kept them in mind.

⁵ Now send men to Joppa, and get one Simon, named Peter,

⁶ Who is living with Simon, a leather-worker, whose house is by the sea.

⁷ And when the angel who said these words to him had gone away, he sent for two of his house-servants, and a God-fearing man of the army, one of those who were waiting on him at all times;

⁸ And having given them an account of everything, he sent them to Joppa.

² pious, and fearing God with all his house, both giving much alms to the people, and supplicating God continually,

³ — saw plainly in a vision, about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of God coming unto him, and saying to him, Cornelius.

⁴ But he, having fixed his eyes upon him, and become full of fear, said, What is it, Lord? And he said to him, Thy prayers and thine alms have gone up for a memorial before God.

⁵ And now send men to Joppa and fetch Simon, who is surnamed Peter.

⁶ He lodges with a certain Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the sea.

⁷ And when the angel who was speaking to him had departed, having called two of his household and a pious soldier of those who were constantly with him,

⁸ and related all things to them, he sent them to Joppa.

² A religious man, and fearing God with all his house, giving much alms to the people, and always praying to God.

³ This man saw in a vision manifestly, about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of God coming in unto him, and saying to him: Cornelius.

⁴ And he, beholding him, being seized with fear, said: What is it, Lord? And he said to him: Thy prayers and thy alms are ascended for a memorial in the sight of God.

⁵ And now send men to Joppe, and call hither one Simon, who is surnamed Peter:

⁶ He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side. He will tell thee what thou must do.

⁷ And when the angel who spoke to him was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a soldier who feared the Lord, of them that were under him.

⁸ To whom when he had related all, he sent them to Joppe.

² a devout man, and one that feared God, together with all his household, who often gave alms to the people, and making petition to God always.

³ About the ninth hour of the day, he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God coming to him and saying to him, “Cornelius!”

⁴ And looking intently at him and becoming fearful he said, “What is it, lord?” And he said to him, “Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God.

⁵ Now send men to Joppa, and send for Simon whose surname is Peter.

⁶ He is staying as a guest with one Simon, a tanner, whose house is beside the sea.”

⁷ Now when the angel who had been speaking to Cornelius had departed, he called two of his servants and a devout soldier from among those who waited on him continually.

⁸ And explaining to them everything, he sent them to Joppa.

² devout and fearing God with all his household, both giving alms generously to the people and praying to God about everything.

³ About the ninth hour of the day, in a vision, he saw clearly an angel of God entering his presence and saying to him, “Cornelius!”

⁴ Well, staring at him and being frightened he said, “What is it, Lord?” So he said to him: “Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God.

⁵ Now send men to Joppa and summon Simon, who is surnamed Peter;

⁶ he is lodging with one Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the sea.”

⁷ So when the angel who spoke to him had departed, Cornelius called two of his household servants and a devout soldier from among those who were faithful to him,

⁸ and explaining everything to them he sent them to Joppa.

² He was a religious man who, together with everyone in his household, had great reverence for God. He gave generously to the poor, and prayed regularly to God.

³ At about 3 p.m. one day he had a vision in which he saw very clearly an angel of God who came to him and called to him, “Cornelius!”

⁴ Frightened, Cornelius stared at him and asked, “What do you want, Lord?” “God has paid attention to your prayers, and recognized your generosity to the poor,” he told Cornelius.

⁵ “Now send some men to Joppa, and fetch Simon, also called Peter,

⁶ who is staying at Simon the tanner's house down by the sea-shore.”

⁷ When the angel who had spoken to him had left, Cornelius called in two of his house-servants and a soldier of his personal guard, a religious man.

⁸ After he'd explained to them all that had happened he sent them to Joppa.

² A deuoute man, and one that feared God with all his housholde, which gaue much almes to the people, and prayed God continually.

³ He sawe in a vision euidently (about the ninth houre of the day) an Angel of God comming in to him, and saying vnto him, Cornelius.

⁴ But when hee looked on him, hee was afrayd, and sayd, What is it, Lord? and he sayd vnto him, Thy prayers and thine almes are come vp into remembrance before God.

⁵ Nowe therefore send men to Ioppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter.

⁶ Hee lodgeth with one Simon a Tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to doe.

⁷ And when the Angel which spake vnto Cornelius, was departed, he called two of his seruants, and a souldier that feared God, one of them that waited on him,

³ One afternoon at 3 o’clock he was praying, and it was like he had a dream, but he was not asleep, he was awake. He saw an angel messenger from God coming to him and calling his name, “Cornelius.”

⁴ Cornelius looked at the angel and was afraid of him. He asked him, “What do you want, boss?” The angel said, “Cornelius, God heard you praying and saw you give money and things to the poor people. It is like you gave those things and money to God, so God is thinking about you.

⁵ So send some men to Joppa to find a man called Simon Peter.

⁶ He is staying with a leather worker called Simon. His house is near the sea. Tell your men to get Peter and bring him back to you.”

⁷ The angel finished talking with Cornelius and went away. Then Cornelius called 2 of the men that worked in his house, and one of the soldiers that looked after him. That soldier respected God too.

⁸ Cornelius told them everything that happened and then he told them to go to Joppa and get Peter.

³ The same man sawe in a vision evydetly aboute the nynthe houre of the daye an angell of god comynge into him and sayinge vnto him: Cornelius.

⁴ When he looked on him he was afrayde and sayde: what is it lorde? He sayde vnto him. Thy prayers and thy almeses are come vp into remembraunce before God.

⁵ And now sende men to Ioppa and call for one Simon named also Peter.

⁶ He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner whose housse is by the see syde. He shall tell the what thou oughtest to doo.

⁷ When the angell which spake vnto Cornelius was departed he called two of his housholde servauntes and a devoute soudier of them that wayted on him

⁸ and tolde them all the mater and sent them to Ioppa.

² He was a devout man, one who worshiped God with all his household; he gave much money to those in need, and he constantly prayed to God.

³ About the ninth hour of the day, he clearly saw in a vision an angel of God coming to him. The angel said to him, “Cornelius!”

⁴ Cornelius stared at the angel and was very frightened and said, “What is it, sir?” The angel said to him, “Your prayers and your gifts to the poor have gone up as a memorial offering into God's presence.

⁵ Now send men to the city of Joppa to bring a man named Simon who is called Peter.

⁶ He is staying with a tanner named Simon, whose house is by the seaside.”

⁷ When the angel who spoke to him had left, Cornelius called two of his house servants, and a devout soldier from among those who served him.

⁸ Cornelius told them all that had happened and sent them to Joppa.

⁷ And when the angel that spake to him, was gone away or had gone away, he called two men of his house, and a knight that dreaded the Lord, which were at his bidding or that obeyed to him.

⁸ And when he had told to them all these things, he sent them into Joppa.

² a religious man, and dreading the Lord, with all his household; doing many alms to the people, and praying (to) the Lord (for)evermore. (a religious man, who had fearful reverence for the Lord, with all his family; giving many gifts to the Jewish people, and always praying to the Lord.)

³ This saw in a vision openly, as in the ninth hour of the day, or (at) noon, an angel of God entering in to him, and saying to him, Cornelius.

⁴ And he beheld him, and was adread (or and was afraid), and said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said to him, Thy prayers and thine alms-deeds have ascended up into mind, in(to) the sight of the Lord.

⁴ and he having looked earnestly on him, and becoming afraid, said, 'What is it, Lord?' And he said to him, 'Thy prayers and thy kind acts came up for a memorial before God,

⁵ and now send men to Joppa, and send for a certain one Simon, who is surnamed Peter,

⁶ this one doth lodge with a certain Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea; this one shall speak to thee what it behoveth thee to do.'

⁷ And when the messenger who is speaking to Cornelius went away, having called two of his domestics, and a pious soldier of those waiting on him continually,

⁸ and having declared to them all things, he sent them to Joppa.
